Which CSI soy grades come in 10 kg — and which do not

Start here, because it removes two options straight away. Of the soy and soy-blend waxes CSI stocks, five ship in a 10 kg pack and four do not, and there is no combining of smaller packs into a "10 kg" at a different rate. The table below is the whole picture as of the September 2026 pull.

Two rows deserve a sentence each. Eco Soy CSI 400 is the cheapest soy per kilogram in the catalogue at ₹399.00/kg, and it is the one that does not go to 10 kg. If price per kilogram is your only criterion, the answer is not a 10 kg bag at all — it is two 5 kg packs at ₹1,996 each, ₹3,992 for ten kilos at ₹399.20/kg, under every 10 kg soy on the list. Most commercial makers still take the flake consistency and glass adhesion of CSI 464 instead. But the option exists, and the arithmetic is real.

The second is Natural Soy Pearl Wax, the only wax in the range that goes beyond 10 kg — 50 kg at ₹21,240, which is ₹424.80/kg, the identical rate to its 10 kg and 5 kg packs. Fifty kilograms at a 184 g fill is 271 candles of one wax. If someone tells you the 50 kg bag is where the savings are, check the rate: at CSI it is the same rate as five 10 kg bags.

What 10 kg actually makes — the candle count and the cost per candle

This is where the decision turns. A 10 kg bag is not a quantity of wax, it is a quantity of finished candles, and until you convert it you cannot tell whether it is three weeks of stock or nine months. Ten kilograms is 10,000 grams: divide by your fill weight, drop the remainder, and that is your batch.

The five fill weights below cover most of what Indian candle brands sell. 184 g is the wax portion of a 200 g candle at an 8% load — 184 g of wax plus 16 g of oil. 150 g matches the 150 g jars with golden lids at ₹944 per 10. 135 g matches the tin container at ₹1,161.12 per 12. 100 g is the gifting and hamper size. 65 g is a votive fill for the 70 g votive jar at ₹159.30 per 5.

Now price each of those candles. The table is the wax cost — wax only, no oil, no wick, no vessel, no label — per finished candle at each grade's 10 kg rate. Read across your grade row to your fill weight: that is the raw wax line in your costing sheet.

Two things fall out of that grid. First, the spread between the cheapest and dearest 10 kg soy is ₹39.05 per candle at a 184 g fill — ₹78.16 on Natural Soy Pearl against ₹117.21 on Coconut Soy CSI 468, or ₹2,109 of margin across the 54 candles one bag makes. That is a pricing decision, not a rounding difference, and it belongs with how you price the candle.

Second, wax is rarely the expensive part of a candle. Against the rest of a 184 g bill of materials: ₹93.36 of CSI 464, plus 16 g of oil — ₹45.31 at Citrus Lemon's 1 kg rate of ₹2,832, or ₹80.43 at Sandalwood's ₹5.03/g — plus an Eco Candle Wick at ₹5.90 and a jar. The vessel is frequently the largest line. Switching grade to save ₹15 while buying a ₹107 jar is optimising the wrong number — the profitability breakdown covers it.

The honest finding: the 10 kg bag is not a discount

Almost every bulk purchase assumes the larger pack carries a lower unit rate. On CSI soy waxes in September 2026, that assumption is wrong on two grades out of five and only mildly true on the others. Here it is, without interpretation.

Take Luxury Soy Wax Chunks first, because it is the least comfortable line and the one this page exists to say out loud. The 10 kg bag is ₹5,999. Two 5 kg bags are ₹2,995 each — ₹5,990. Ten 1 kg packs at ₹599 — also ₹5,990. Twenty 500 g packs at ₹299 — ₹5,980. The single 10 kg bag costs ₹9 more than the same weight in 5 kg or 1 kg packs, and ₹19 more than in 500 g packs: ₹599.90/kg against ₹599.00 and ₹598.00. About 17 paise on a 184 g candle — small, and still the opposite of what "bulk" implies, so you should hear it from us rather than work it out afterwards.

On CSI 464 the picture is cleaner but no more generous: ₹507.40 per kilogram at 1 kg, at 5 kg and at 10 kg. Ten 1 kg packs come to ₹5,074, and so does the bag. The only saving is against the 500 g pack at ₹520/kg — ₹126 over twenty packets, and nobody buys ten kilos that way. Treat CSI 464 as flat-rate and buy the size that suits your bench.

Fair ask, and the honest answer is in the table: on Soy Pillar Wax the rate is ₹600.00 per kilogram at 500 g and at 10 kg alike. Where a genuine break does exist — Natural Soy Pearl Wax and Coconut Soy CSI 468 — you capture the whole of it at 5 kg. For anything large or repeating, the conversation happens on WhatsApp, with GST invoicing, rather than on a shelf price.

When 10 kg is the right buy — four conditions, all of them

Because the bag is not cheaper per kilogram, the case for it is entirely operational — and operational cases have preconditions. Meet all four and the 10 kg bag is the right purchase. Miss one and you have converted working capital into a sack in a cupboard.

The three-month turn is a working rule, not an expiry date. Properly stored soy stays usable well beyond it; the reason to size the purchase this way is capital and commitment. Wax in a cupboard is money not spent on fragrance oils or jars, and a nine-month supply of one grade quietly removes your ability to change your mind. Eighteen candles a month at 184 g is a defensible 10 kg purchase. Six is a 5 kg purchase and a better cash position.

Storing and handling 10 kg in Indian conditions

This is the part of the bulk decision nobody costs and everybody eventually pays for. Soy is chemically stable but soft, low-melting and fat-derived, and Indian storage tests all three at once — summer heat in a first-floor workroom, monsoon humidity, and a house holding open fragrance oils. Handle the bag correctly and ten kilograms pours as consistently on candle 54 as on candle one.

What to buy instead if you are not there yet

Most people reading a page called "where to buy 10 kg soy wax" should be buying 5 kg. That is not a sales position — the 5 kg pack is a smaller order for us — it is what the numbers above say. If any of the four conditions is unmet, one of these is the better buy this month.

Two more worth naming. If the constraint is budget rather than certainty, Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹1,996 per 5 kg (₹399.20/kg) is the cheapest soy CSI stocks: two bags give ten kilograms for ₹3,992, ₹1,082 under the CSI 464 10 kg bag, and since there is no 10 kg pack this is how you buy it in quantity. One last framing. Makers scale the pack size of the thing they understand best — wax — while still buying everything else in small, expensive quantities. If you are ready for 10 kg of wax, you are ready for a 1 kg bottle of your best-selling fragrance oil, where the per-gram saving is far larger than anything on wax: Citrus Lemon is ₹300 per 100 g against ₹2,832 per kilogram.
