Candle Business Guides · Wick × Wholesale
Seven CSI wick listings, five professional jobs, one award each — judged on what the product pages state, how the packs scale and what a 250-candle run costs. The all-round winner for soy container ranges is a ₹5.90 wick; the rest win where it cannot.
₹5.90 / wick
Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1), the all-round bulk pick, flat from 10 to 1,000 — paired with Thick (C2) at ₹9.44 · specialist picks from ₹2.83 (pillar, from a roll) to ₹42.48 (wooden) per candle over 250 · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What is the best bulk wick for professional soy container candles?Eco Candle Wicks as a pair: Thin (C1) at ₹5.90 and Thick (C2) at ₹9.44 a wick, flat-priced to 1,000-packs. Two thicknesses give every jar in a range a thinner and a thicker candidate to test, and it is the only CSI wick with customer reviews.
Best for wide jars?Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made at ₹12 — the one pre-cut wick whose page states a size: candles exceeding 8 cm.
Can I skip testing because it's "the best"? No. These awards rank documentation, packs and price. Only a burn test in your jar ranks the flame.
The short answer
Core range: Eco Candle Wicks C1 and C2 in 500- and 1,000-packs for soy container lines, at ₹5.90 and ₹9.44 a wick with no pack-size penalty.
Specialists: Cotton Braided Ready Made for jars over 8 cm, Eco Candle Wicks Loose for 2 inch vessels, the 61 m braided roll for pillars, and Performance Wooden Wicks for a premium line.
Proof: run two candidates per vessel side by side, burn to the base, and bulk-buy only the winner. Recurring volume goes to a WhatsApp quote.
Bar length is wick cost per candle when each award wicks 250 candles from the cheapest listed packs; stickers, holders and sealer are extra. The awards do not compete with one another — each serves a different candle — so read the chart as the price of each job, not a league table.
Which candle wicks are best to buy in bulk for professional candle making in India?
It depends on the candle, so this guide gives one award per job. For soy container ranges, the best bulk buy is Eco Candle Wicks in Thin (C1) at ₹5.90 and Thick (C2) at ₹9.44. Both are flat-priced up to 1,000-packs, described for soy and beeswax, and they are the only CSI wick with customer reviews. For jars wider than 8 cm, choose Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made at ₹12, the one pre-cut wick with a stated size. For small 2 inch vessels, Eco Candle Wicks Loose work out at about ₹5.66 per 8 cm wick from the 10 m pack. For pillars and custom lengths, the Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs gives 381 wicks of 16 cm from one ₹706.82 roll. For a premium statement line, Performance Wooden Wicks step down to ₹41.30 in 100s. None of these awards is a burn-test result. The pages state no lab or burn data, and only the jar sizing quoted above, so run two candidates per vessel side by side and bulk-buy the winner. Add ₹2.50 a candle for a wick sticker on container lines, and take recurring volumes to WhatsApp.
One line: Eco C1 and C2 for soy containers, Cotton Braided for jars over 8 cm, Eco Loose for 2 inch vessels, the braided roll for pillars, wooden for premium — each confirmed by your own side-by-side burn before the bulk order.
Building a professional wick range? Eco Candle Wicks from ₹5.90 in packs to 1,000, Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made at ₹12, the 61 m braided roll at ₹706.82 and Performance Wooden Wicks from ₹41.30 — every award in one wick collection.
A "best wick" list that ranks flames it has never seen in your jar is guessing. This one ranks what can be checked.
We don't publish burn-test results for these wicks, and neither do the product pages. So these awards are not a claim about which flame is best. They judge the six things a professional buyer can verify before ordering: whether the page states a vessel size, how large the packs go, whether the per-wick price holds, how flexible the length is, whether you know what the base looks like, and whether any customer has reviewed it. The table applies those six tests to all seven CSI wick listings.
Six checkable criteria · CSI live data, September 2026
Every CSI wick listing against what a professional buyer can verify
Not wicks — they support every award and are priced in the sections below
Two things fall out of that table straight away. No listing wins every column, which is why there are five awards and not one. And the columns that most decide a first bulk order — stated vessel size and base finish — are the thinnest. Only three listings state any size. Only the roll and the wooden pack tell you tabs are in the box. A professional buyer treats those blanks as questions to settle first: by burn test for sizing, by photo or WhatsApp for the base.
Why price behaviour is a professional criterion
A flat per-wick price means one number in your costing sheet from trial to festive peak; your per-candle cost never depends on which pack you happened to buy. That is why Eco Candle Wicks and Cotton Braided Wicks score well for production. Stepped pricing, as on the wooden wicks, rewards consolidating orders but punishes drip-buying: ten 10-packs cost ₹5,900 against ₹4,130 for one 100-pack.
The five bulk wick awards
Each card gives the award, the reason, the limits you should know before bulk buying, and the full pack table. Cards run from the widest use to the most specialised.

Award · best all-round bulk wick for soy container ranges
Eco Candle Wicks — Thin (C1) and Thick (C2)
The award goes to the pair, not to one thickness, because a professional container range usually needs a thinner and a thicker candidate to test in each of its jars. The page describes natural fibres "like cotton and paper" that "pair perfectly with soy wax, beeswax, and other eco-friendly waxes". Both thicknesses are flat-priced from their smallest pack to 1,000 (the C2 10-pack is sold out, so C2 starts at 20). It is the only CSI wick with customer reviews, all three quoted in full further down. Limits: no diameter guidance, and no base or tab description, so confirm both before the first 1,000.

Award · best bulk wick for jars wider than 8 cm
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made
The only pre-cut CSI wick with a stated size: "engineered for large-diameter candles exceeding 8 cm", with a thick braid described for "premium pillar, container, and decorative candles" and a wick height of 10.16 cm. That stated diameter is what earns the award: for a 10 cm apothecary-style jar, you start testing from a documented claim rather than a guess. Limits: the 10.16 cm height caps the wax depth it can serve, and the base finish isn't described. Measure your fill line and confirm the base before a 500 or 1,000 order.
Stated as "designed specifically for 2 inch diameters" — 5.08 cm — which is the territory of votives, heart jars and small gift candles, where a pre-cut wick is often longer than the candle needs. Sold by the metre, and 14.3% cheaper per metre in the 10 m pack. Cut short for shallow vessels, a metre goes a long way. Limits: no tab is supplied and the fibre isn't named, so plan how you will fix the base (the braided roll is CSI's only listed source of spare tabs for cotton wick, 100 per roll) and confirm the fibre before making any label claim.
Award · best bulk wick for pillars and custom lengths
Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs (61 m)
A spool of braided cotton wick to cut "to the desired length", plus 100 small metal tabs. Pillar moulds need a wick longer than the candle, threaded through the base, and no tab — exactly what a roll supplies and a 10.16 cm pre-cut wick cannot. At ₹11.59 a metre, a 16 cm pillar wick is about ₹1.85 of braid, and one roll gives about 381 of them. The 100 tabs are a bonus for a container batch. Limits: a single listing with no pack ladder, priming not stated, and only 100 tabs. Confirm availability on WhatsApp before planning several rolls.
The wick that changes how a candle looks and sounds. The page describes wood strips that burn with "a gentle crackling sound" and a natural look, and states that a pack "contains 10 wicks and wick tabs". It is the only CSI wick sold by count with stepped pricing: variants are labelled "Save 25%" and "Save 30%", and on the listed prices the per-wick cost falls 20% at 50 and 30% at 100. Limits: imported, one listed size, no dimensions or jar sizing, and a 100-pack ceiling. Test a 10-pack across vessel diameters before committing.
Runner-up, not an award: Eco Braided Wicks.Eco Braided Wicks are described as "the perfect solution for large diameter container jars", at ₹472 for 5 m or ₹826 for 10 m. They lose the wide-jar award to Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made on two counts: no numeric diameter, and no pre-cutting. But they win one situation outright. When a wide jar is taller than a 10.16 cm wick can serve, a braided wick cut to 14 or 15 cm is the answer: 66 wicks of 15 cm from the 10 m pack, about ₹12.52 each. Keep it as the backup candidate in your wide-jar test.
What each award costs across 250 candles
To put the awards on a common footing, here is each one wicking 250 candles of its own type from the cheapest listed pack combination. That is a realistic first bulk run for one line of a professional range. Stickers (₹2.50 a container candle), holders and pillar sealer are left out so the wick line stays comparable.
250 candles per award · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Cheapest listed packs, total spend and wick cost per candle
Read the table by candle type, not top to bottom. A pillar maker is not choosing between ₹2.83 and ₹42.48; a premium brand is not choosing wooden over C1 to save money. The useful comparisons sit inside a job. For wide jars: ₹12 ready-made against Eco Braided at about ₹9.95 a 12 cm wick, a ₹2.05 gap that buys pre-cutting and a stated size. For premium lines: ₹42.48 wooden against ₹12 cotton braided, a ₹30.48 gap that buys the look and the crackle. Those are the decisions a professional range actually makes. Note also that 250 wooden wicks cost ₹42.48 each, not ₹41.30, because the last 50 come at the 50-pack price. Once you need more than 70 wicks beyond your 100-packs, another 100-pack costs no more than a 50 plus 10-packs.
The CSI principle
There is no best wick. There is a best wick for each candle, bought in the pack that candle's sales justify.
A professional range usually ends up with two to four wick SKUs, each one the winner of its own vessel test. The award tells you which to test first. The burn decides. The sales forecast decides the pack.
Which awards suit which business
The same five awards combine differently depending on what a business sells. Below are five common professional profiles, the awards each would test first, and a sensible first bulk order once the tests pass. These are starting combinations, not prescriptions.

Notice the festive producer's line. A business pouring one standard jar at volume gains nothing from a wide wick range. It gains from one proven wick bought in the largest flat-priced pack, which keeps the costing simple and the bench error-free. The premium brand is the opposite: its wooden hero line is only 100 wicks but ₹4,130 of a ₹10,130 order, so that line's test deserves the most care. For how CSI wicks behave at each quantity, the sibling guides cover buying candle wicks in bulk and the wholesale price of every wick.

Three reviews, three stated sizes and zero lab reports. That is the honest evidence base for every wick on this page.
Professional buyers should know exactly what a "best" ranking rests on. For CSI's wicks, it rests on three things. The first is stated specifications: three listings give a vessel size (over 8 cm, 2 inch, large-diameter jars), one gives a length (10.16 cm), and two tell you tabs are included. The second is live pricing and pack structure, which is fully verifiable. The third is customer reviews, and there are only three, all on Eco Candle Wicks. Here they are in full, because a professional should read all of them, not just the best:

"Good quality .... if possible delivery date would be try little bit quick please"
Quality praised; faster delivery requested — plan reorders with a buffer
Two of the three reviews raise delivery timing, and one raises price. We would rather you read that here than discover it mid-season. The practical response is the one any professional should use with any supplier: order before you are down to your last pack, keep safety stock of your winning wick, and ask for recurring pricing on WhatsApp rather than buying at listed prices month after month. The reorder-point method is in the wick guide for candle manufacturers.
The mistake: letting a ranking replace a burn test. No page here, ours included, has burned your wax, your oil at your load, in your jar. A wick that wins its award can still tunnel in a jar 5 mm wider than you measured, or mushroom at 10% load when it was clean at 8%. Use the awards to shortlist two candidates per vessel, not to skip the test. The wick that matters is the one that passed in your candle. The guides on wrong wick size and wick mushrooming explain what to look for.
Prove the winner in your own jar
An elimination burn turns the awards into your own verified choice. It uses two candidates per vessel — the award and its most likely alternative — and settles each vessel in one round of testing.
1
Pair the candidates per vesselSmall soy jar: C1 vs C2. Wide jar: Cotton Braided vs Eco Braided. 2 inch vessel: Eco Loose vs C1. Pillar: roll wick at two cut lengths. Premium line: wooden across two jar diameters. Buy the smallest in-stock pack of each: ₹59 (C1), ₹188.80 (C2, 20 wicks), ₹120 (Cotton Braided), ₹590 (wooden), ₹413 or ₹472 for a 5 m pack.
2
Pour three candles per candidate, one recipeSame wax, same oil, same load, same pour temperature for every candle. If your wax states a range — Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is stated up to 10%, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13% — test at the load you will actually sell.
3
Cure fully before the first burnLids on, away from light. Burning a two-day-old candle tests the cure, not the wick. Standard practice for soy containers is 14–21 days.
4
Burn side by side and score five thingsFor each session: minutes to a full pool reaching the glass (a full pool in roughly two to three hours is the usual aim), flame steadiness and height, soot on the glass, carbon build-up on the wick, and tunnelling. Let candles cool fully between sessions.
5
Burn to the base, then decideA wick that is right at the top can struggle lower down. Keep scoring until the candles are finished. The candidate that passes all five checks at every depth wins the vessel.
6
Write the winner into the recipe, then bulk-buyRecord vessel, wick, cut length or pack, load, cure and trim height on one line. Then order the winner in the pack your forecast justifies, and nothing else.
Every award on this page is provisional until your own jar has burned to the bottom.

Why trust this guide
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A supplier's "best wicks" list is easy to fill with superlatives. We judged ours only on what can be checked — stated sizes, pack structure, price behaviour, base information and reviews. We printed all three wick reviews in full, including the two that ask us to improve delivery times and one that mentions pricing. And we have told you not to treat any award as a substitute for your own burn test.
Every price, pack size and quoted phrase here comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. No burn-test or laboratory results are claimed for any wick. The 250-candle run, the cut lengths (8, 12, 16 and 20 cm) and the business-profile orders are planning examples. The fragrance loads quoted are the wax pages' stated maximums — formulation limits, not regulatory limits.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best candle wick to buy in bulk in India?
It depends on the candle. For soy container ranges, CSI's best all-round bulk pick is Eco Candle Wicks — Thin (C1) at ₹5.90 and Thick (C2) at ₹9.44 a wick, flat-priced to 1,000-packs. For jars over 8 cm, Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made (₹12); for pillars, the 61 m braided roll (₹706.82); for 2 inch vessels, Eco Candle Wicks Loose; for premium lines, Performance Wooden Wicks (₹41.30 in 100s). Confirm any pick by burn test first.
Which wick is best for soy wax container candles?
Start with Eco Candle Wicks, whose page says they "pair perfectly with soy wax, beeswax, and other eco-friendly waxes". Test Thin (C1) against Thick (C2) in each jar, burn both to the base after a full cure, and keep the one that reaches the glass cleanly without soot or mushrooming. No diameter guidance is stated, so the test decides. For jars wider than 8 cm, add Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made to the test.
What is the best wick for large candle jars?
Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made are the only pre-cut CSI wick stated for candles exceeding 8 cm in diameter, at ₹12 each with a 10.16 cm height. Test them against Eco Braided Wicks, described for large-diameter container jars and cut to any length. That makes Eco Braided the better candidate when the jar is taller than a 10.16 cm wick can serve. Very wide jars may need two wicks, which doubles the wick cost.
Are wooden wicks better than cotton wicks for professional candles?
Not better, different. Wooden wicks change the look and sound of the candle, and the product page describes a "gentle crackling sound". They cost more: ₹41.30 a wick in 100s against ₹5.90 to ₹12 for CSI's cotton-type wicks, and CSI lists one wooden size with no stated jar sizing. Professionals often keep wooden wicks for a premium hero line in larger jars, where a premium of ₹29.30 to ₹35.40 a wick is a smaller share of the candle's cost.
What is the best wick for pillar candles?
For moulded pillars, a wick you can cut longer than the candle and thread through the mould base. CSI's pick is the Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs: ₹706.82 for 61 m, about ₹1.85 of braid per 16 cm wick and around 381 wicks per roll. Thread with a wicking needle (₹472) and seal the base. Test two cut lengths in your mould before a full run.
How do I choose between two wicks before a bulk order?
Run an elimination burn. Pour three candles per candidate from one recipe, cure fully, and burn them side by side to the base. Score time to a full pool, flame steadiness, soot, carbon on the wick and tunnelling. The candidate that passes at every depth wins the vessel. Write it into the recipe, then buy it in the pack your forecast supports — on CSI's flat-priced wicks, a bigger pack never lowers the per-wick price.
