Bar length is the wax cost of a 200 g candle at 8% at each wax's largest listed pack price. Paraffin wins on price per candle and loses on reorder size: both grades stop at 1 kg, while Eco Soy CSI 400 comes in 5 kg and CSI 464 and Soy Pillar Wax in 10 kg.
Can I buy paraffin candle wax wholesale from CSI, and is it worth building a product line on?
You can buy it, but not in wholesale packs off the shelf. CSI lists Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets at ₹177 for 500 g and ₹354 for 1 kg, and Semi Refined Paraffin Wax at ₹220 for 1 kg, with a stated melting point of 80–90°C and oil content of 6–10%. Nothing larger is listed, so 10 kg of fully refined bought as packs is ₹3,540 and 25 kg is ₹8,850 — ceilings, not quotes. Recurring or larger paraffin volumes are quoted on WhatsApp, and we don't publish what that quote will be. Paraffin is worth it where it does a job: pillars and crisp designer shapes, blends with microcrystalline wax or Vybar (stated 1–2% in paraffin), and tightly costed candles on semi-refined at ₹40.48 of wax per 200 g candle. It is weaker as a cost play for container candles: Eco Soy CSI 400 in 5 kg packs costs only ₹8.32 more per candle than fully refined paraffin, and paraffin with Vybar at 2% costs more than Eco Soy on its own. Qualify a grade on one kilo, then send the grade and your monthly kilos for a quote before you price the product.
One line: paraffin at CSI is ₹220–₹354 per kilo in packs up to 1 kg; use it for pillars, shapes and blends, qualify the grade on a kilo, and get volume quoted before you set a retail price.
Qualifying a grade? Fully Refined Paraffin 1 kg at ₹354 and Semi Refined Paraffin 1 kg at ₹220 — both grades for ₹574 — plus Microcrystalline Wax 500 g at ₹149 if you are building a pillar or sculpting blend.
The most useful thing a supplier can tell a wholesale buyer is what it does not list. For paraffin, that is every pack above one kilo.
Buyers looking for a paraffin wholesale supplier usually want a 25 kg or 50 kg price. CSI's wax range is built around soy and coconut-soy in 5 kg and 10 kg packs; paraffin is stocked in two grades in small packs. That is not a reason to rule CSI out for paraffin, but it changes how you buy: you test from the listed packs and buy volume by quote. Worked out above: quantity × listed price per kilo (fully refined ₹354; semi-refined ₹220). Candles = grams ÷ 184 g of wax per 200 g candle at 8%, rounded down. These are listed-pack ceilings; CSI does not publish volume quote prices, and no pack above 1 kg exists to add to cart.
Two practical consequences follow. First, a paraffin product line needs a quote before it needs a price list; the 1 kg price is a test price, and your retail maths should wait for the volume answer. Second, continuity is your job to confirm: when you ask for a quote, ask for the same grade on every delivery and check each delivery against the kilo you qualified on, as the test section below describes.
Fully refined vs semi-refined: what the pages actually state
"Refined" describes how far a paraffin has been processed, and the most practical difference for a candle maker is usually how much oil remains in the wax. CSI's two pages are not equally specific, so the table quotes each exactly and marks the gaps.

Read it as two different tools. Fully refined pellets are the easier ingredient to weigh and melt in small, precise batches, and the page positions them across pillars and containers. Semi-refined blocks come with the two numbers a production team most wants — a melting range and an oil content — and a page claim of excellent mould release that matters for pillars and shapes. Neither states a fragrance load, so both need a load test.
The mistake: swapping grades between batches. Because both are "paraffin", a maker who runs short of one reaches for the other. But one grade states a 6–10% oil content and an 80–90°C melting point and the other states neither, so you cannot assume they set, release or hold fragrance the same way. A pillar recipe proven on semi-refined is not proven on fully refined. Put the grade on the batch card, and qualify the second grade as a separate recipe before it ever substitutes for the first.
The mistake: pouring semi-refined into an 85°C-rated jar without checking. Semi-refined paraffin's stated melting point is 80–90°C, which means the wax is only fully liquid at or above that range. CSI's Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 g) and Apothecary Glass Candle Jar state a hot-pour limit of 85°C. Those two numbers overlap badly. For containers, test semi-refined only in a vessel whose rating you have confirmed, or use it where no glass limit applies — moulds and pillars — which is where its stated mould release points anyway.
Where paraffin still earns its place
Paraffin is not simply the budget version of soy. It is a different material, and it is best used where that difference is the point.
A good paraffin line is chosen for a property, not a price. The table sets out the uses CSI's pages support, the grade to start with, and the companion products whose pages state how to use them with paraffin.

If colour is part of the design, note that CSI's liquid dyes are not paraffin-specific; one customer describes them working "with all kinds of waxes", which is worth checking in your grade at your dose. Whatever the use, the one thing paraffin at CSI cannot do is arrive in a 10 kg bag, so the moulds you buy should match the volume you can get quoted. Soy vs paraffin, per candle
The per-kilo gap between paraffin and soy looks decisive. Inside a candle, and next to the pack sizes, it is less so. The table prices a 200 g candle at 8% (184 g of wax) on each wax at its largest listed pack price and shows the gap against fully refined paraffin.

Wax cost per candle and per 1,000 candles against fully refined paraffin
Worked out above: wax per candle = 184 g × price per gram; per 1,000 candles = 184 kg × the per-kilo gap. Eco Soy CSI 400: ₹1,996 ÷ 5 kg = ₹399.20/kg; 184 × (₹399.20 − ₹354) = ₹8,316.80 · CSI 464: 184 × ₹153.40 = ₹28,225.60 · Soy Pillar Wax: 184 × ₹246 = ₹45,264 · semi-refined: 184 × (₹220 − ₹354) = −₹24,656. Three conclusions. For container candles, fully refined paraffin barely undercuts soy: Eco Soy CSI 400 costs ₹8.32 more per candle, comes in 5 kg packs, and its page says it needs no additional additives. Add Vybar to paraffin at its stated 2% and the paraffin candle costs ₹76.62 — more than plain Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹73.45. Semi-refined is the real cost play, saving ₹32.97 per candle against Eco Soy CSI 400, but it comes with the melting-point caution above and a 1 kg pack. For pillars, paraffin's ₹45.26 advantage over Soy Pillar Wax is large — which is exactly why a pillar or shape line is the best case for a paraffin quote.
Why the same oil can smell different in paraffin
Fragrance behaves differently in paraffin and soy, so a per-candle cost comparison is only half the decision; a cheaper wax that needs a higher load or a different oil is not cheaper. Neither CSI paraffin page states a fragrance load, so qualify yours at 8% first and change it one step at a time.

Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets
Pellets that the page says melt evenly, with a low melting point and superb adhesion, for candles "from traditional pillars to elegant container candles". No melting figure, oil content or load is stated. Price per kilo is flat — two 500 g packs cost exactly the same as one 1 kg pack — so buy whichever is easier to keep sealed. Its best role is a precise small-batch ingredient and the grade to qualify for container work, where semi-refined's melting range is harder to pair with hot-pour-rated glass.
The lowest price per kilo in the CSI wax range and the paraffin with published numbers: melting point 80–90°C and oil content 6–10%, described as a balance of hardness and flexibility. The page lists container candles, pillar candles, wax blends, balms and polish bases, and claims excellent mould release. It is sold as a single 1 kg pack at ₹220. For a wholesale line, qualify it in the mould you will use, then ask for a quote with the grade named exactly.
The page says it "works with beeswax, paraffin, soy blends & hard waxes" and gives the clearest rates of any additive in the range: 1–10% overall, 3–7% for pillars, 1–5% for hardening blends, 8–10% for detailed or sculptural work, with claims of better adhesion and less cracking in pillar and moulded candles. At ₹299 per kilo it adds ₹0.55 to ₹5.50 to a 200 g candle across that range. It is also listed only up to 1 kg, but at 1–10% of the wax a single kilo treats 10–100 kg of paraffin, so the additive is rarely the supply bottleneck.
Included because it answers the question most paraffin buyers are really asking — "what is the cheapest wax I can reorder in bulk for container candles?" Its page describes an all-natural container wax that needs no additional additives, says to add fragrance at 85°C and stir for 2 minutes, and recommends Eco Wicks. At ₹1,996 for 5 kg it costs ₹8.32 more wax per 200 g candle than fully refined paraffin and can be restocked in 5 kg bags without a quote. It states no maximum load, so test at 8%.
Priced above: Vybar ₹312 ÷ 100 g = ₹3.12/g; Microcrystalline Wax ₹299 ÷ 1,000 g = ₹0.299/g; percentages applied to 184 g of wax. Share = additive cost ÷ ₹65.14 fully refined wax cost (e.g. ₹11.48 ÷ ₹65.14 = 17.6%). The Vybar page says to add it to melted wax before fragrance and colour.
Qualify a grade, then ask for a quote
Because paraffin volume is quoted rather than carted, the order of work matters more than with soy. You want to walk into the quote conversation with a proven recipe and a named grade, so the quote is for exactly the wax your product needs.

A 1 kg price is a test price. The retail price of a paraffin line belongs to the quote for the exact grade your recipe proved — not to the number on a single-kilo bag.

Getting bulk paraffin quoted — what to send and what to expect
A paraffin quote request that gets a fast, useful answer names five things. The grade — "Semi Refined Paraffin Wax" or "Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets", not just "paraffin". The quantity as kilos per order and orders per month, because a one-off 25 kg and a monthly 25 kg are different conversations. The product — pillars, shapes, containers or blends. Your delivery pincode. And your GST number if you need a GST invoice. If a buyer of your candles asks for material documentation, ask for the MSDS in the same message.
What we won't do is print a quote price in a guide. It depends on the grade, the quantity and how often you order, and the listed per-kilo prices in the supply table — ₹354 and ₹220 — are the ceiling you can already buy at. If the quote does not work for your margin, the per-candle table above tells you what the soy alternatives cost and in which packs they restock without one.
The mistake: building the whole range on paraffin before the first quote. It is easy to buy ten moulds, print labels and set a retail price around a ₹40.48 semi-refined candle, and only then ask whether your monthly volume can be supplied. Ask first. The listed ceiling — 25 kg of semi-refined as packs is ₹5,500 — already gives you a worst-case wax cost; the quote tells you whether that volume is available in the grade you proved, and on what terms, before the labels are printed.
The cheapest wax per kilo is only cheap if you can buy the same grade again next month.

Pouring a wax that is only fully molten at that range into those jars is a poor match. Use a vessel whose rating you have confirmed, or keep semi-refined for moulds and pillars.
