A premium candle is not made premium by its wax. But a cheap wax can quietly stop it being one — for about thirty rupees a jar.

Premium soy wax costs more per kilo and surprisingly little per candle. This guide defines what premium should buy you — finish, headroom, adhesion, documentation — separates what the pages state from what you must test, and costs the step up inside a real candle.

extra wax cost per 150g jar at 10% when you move from entry-tier Eco Soy CSI 400 (₹399.20/kg) to Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 (₹637/kg), both at bulk-pack prices · ₹17.50 more than Luxury Soy CSI 464 · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which premium soy wax can I buy in bulk? Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468: ₹3,185 for 5 kg, ₹6,370 for 10 kg (₹637/kg), stated for single-pour containers with a load of up to 13%, melt 50–53°C and pour 58–60°C. It is the only premium-named soy wax with a bulk pack.

What does premium add per candle? In a 150g jar at 10%, ₹86 of CSI 468 against ₹53.89 of Eco Soy CSI 400 — ₹32.11 — and ₹17.50 over Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464.

What should "premium" mean? Four things: a clean finish, fragrance headroom, glass adhesion and documented, repeatable specs. Only the last two numbers — load and temperatures — are stated; finish and adhesion are page descriptions to test in your jar.

Is Premium Coconut Soy Wax a bulk option? Not on listed packs: it is ₹920 per 1 kg, largest pack 1 kg, with no stated load. Ask on WhatsApp for larger volumes.
The short answer
Buy premium on numbers: CSI 468 states a 13% ceiling, working temperatures and a 60-month shelf life, and steps down to ₹637/kg at 5 kg.
Test premium on looks: smooth finish, minimal frosting and glass adhesion are described on the page — confirm them in your own jar over four weeks before a bulk order.
Price premium on the whole candle: wax is under a third of a premium jar's materials, so the step up is a few percent of an example ₹799 retail price.

One 150g jar at 10%, four wax tiers: the wax slice grows, the candle barely does Eco Soy CSI 400 ₹53.89oil, wick, jar, sticker ₹188.17 · total ₹242.06 Luxury Soy CSI 464 ₹68.50₹188.17 · total ₹256.67 Coconut Soy CSI 468 ₹86.00₹188.17 · total ₹274.17 Premium Coconut Soy ₹124.20 · 1 kg pack₹188.17 · total ₹312.37 Black = wax (135g) · grey = 15g Dark Vanilla Oud, Eco C1 wick, 150g Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid, wick sticker
Both segments are drawn to the same scale; the grey ₹188.17 is identical in every row. Moving from the entry tier to CSI 468 adds ₹32.11 to a ₹242.06 candle — 13%. Wax prices are bulk-pack prices (5 kg Eco Soy, 10 kg CSI 464 and CSI 468); Premium Coconut Soy Wax is listed only up to 1 kg.
Straight answer
Which premium soy wax should a candle brand buy in bulk in India, and is it worth the extra cost?
For a premium container range bought in bulk, Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 is the CSI choice: ₹6,370 per 10 kg (₹637/kg), a stated load of up to 13%, a stated melt of 50–53°C and pour of 58–60°C, and a 60-month shelf life in cool, dry storage. Its page also describes an ultra-smooth finish, minimal frosting and excellent glass adhesion — treat those as claims to confirm in your own jar, not as specifications. The step up is smaller than the per-kilo price suggests: in a 150g jar at 10%, CSI 468 puts ₹86 of wax in the candle against ₹53.89 for Eco Soy CSI 400 and ₹68.50 for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464. With 15g of Dark Vanilla Oud, a wick, a sticker and a Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid, the whole candle's materials go from ₹242.06 to ₹274.17. At an example ₹799 retail price, that ₹32.11 is about 4% of the price. If you want soy rather than coconut-soy, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks give the same 13% ceiling at ₹5,999 per 10 kg. Premium Coconut Soy Wax at ₹920/kg is a small-batch option only. Test, then order bulk on WhatsApp.
One line: buy premium soy on its stated numbers (CSI 468: up to 13%, pour 58–60°C, ₹637/kg in bulk), prove its finish in your own jar, and price the candle knowing the upgrade costs about ₹32 a 150g jar.
Premium tier, bulk packs: Coconut Soy CSI 468 at ₹3,185 / 5 kg and ₹6,370 / 10 kg, with a ₹325 / 500 g sample for the jar test. Soy alternative with the same 13% ceiling: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹5,999 / 10 kg.

What "premium" should buy you in a soy wax

Premium is a promise your customer holds you to. The wax is where that promise is either kept or quietly broken.

A customer paying premium prices judges a candle before it is lit: the surface, the edge against the glass, the colour. Then they judge it lit: whether it fills the room and burns cleanly to the end. A wax contributes to every one of those. So "premium soy wax" should mean a wax that gives you the best chance of a flawless-looking, strong, repeatable candle — not simply a higher price per kilo or a better word on the bag.

Four properties matter, and they split cleanly into two kinds. Headroom and documentation can be stated as numbers on a product page. Finish and glass adhesion can only be described on a page and confirmed in your own jar, because they depend on your vessel, your oil, your room temperature and your pour. A premium supplier should give you the first two in writing and be honest that the second two are yours to prove.

The four premium properties · stated vs tested
What each one means, what CSI 468's page says, and how you confirm it
Property Why a premium buyer cares CSI 468 page Stated number or description? How to confirm
Fragrance headroom Room to hold richer, heavier premium oils at a higher load Fragrance load up to 13% Stated number Hold at or below 13%; confirm throw at day 14
Documented working specs Every batch poured the same way, by anyone on the team Melt 50–53°C · pour 58–60°C · shelf life 60 months Stated numbers Thermometer at the bench; log actual readings
Finish A smooth, even top and sides on a clear or frosted jar "Ultra-smooth finish" · "rich, opaque appearance with minimal frosting" Description Photograph the surface at 24 hours and weekly for four weeks
Glass adhesion No pull-away patches visible through clear glass "Excellent glass adhesion" Description Inspect through the jar at 24 hours and after a cool night
The mistake: buying a premium wax to fix a non-wax problem. Frosting, pull-away and weak throw each have several causes — pour temperature, jar temperature, room temperature, cure time, wick size and oil. A premium wax gives you a better starting point, not immunity. If your current candles frost, run the four-week test in this guide with your current wax poured at its stated temperature first; the diagnosis in why is my soy wax frosting may save you the upgrade.

CSI's soy wax tiers, from entry to premium

CSI's soy and coconut-soy waxes fall into three price tiers, and — except for the single most expensive wax — the tiers line up with how much each page documents. The table sets the tiers side by side at each wax's best listed bulk price, with the wax cost inside the 150g candle used throughout this guide.

Soy wax tiers · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Entry, luxury soy and premium coconut-soy — price, documentation and wax per 150g jar
Tier Wax Best listed bulk price Per kg Stated load Wax in a 150g jar @ 10% Premium over entry
Entry Eco Soy CSI 400 5 kg ₹1,996 ₹399.20 Not stated ₹53.89
Entry Natural Soy Pearl Wax 10 kg ₹4,248 · 50 kg ₹21,240 ₹424.80 Not stated ₹57.35 ₹3.46
Luxury soy Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 10 kg ₹5,074 ₹507.40 Up to 10% ₹68.50 ₹14.61
Luxury soy Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 10 kg ₹5,999 ₹599.90 8–13% ₹80.99 ₹27.10
Premium coconut-soy Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 10 kg ₹6,370 ₹637 Up to 13% ₹86.00 ₹32.11
Premium coconut-soy Premium Coconut Soy Wax 1 kg ₹920 (no bulk pack) ₹920 Not stated ₹124.20 ₹70.31
Worked out above: a 150g jar at 10% = 135g wax + 15g oil. Wax cost = per kg ÷ 1,000 × 135: ₹0.3992 × 135 = ₹53.89 · ₹0.4248 = ₹57.35 · ₹0.5074 = ₹68.50 · ₹0.5999 = ₹80.99 · ₹0.637 = ₹86.00 · ₹0.92 = ₹124.20. Premium over entry = wax cost − ₹53.89. Tier names describe CSI's price bands and product names, not a certification.

The premium tier is where the two "Premium" product names sit, but the two are very different purchases. CSI 468 is a documented, bulk-packed wax with the step-down to ₹637/kg at 5 kg. Premium Coconut Soy Wax is described on its page as a blend of non-GMO soy and virgin coconut oil for a wide range of container types, with no stated load or temperatures and a largest pack of 1 kg. For a brand buying in bulk, only the first is a practical premium standard. The second suits a limited edition or a test of a different coconut-soy character.

Premium does not have to mean coconut
If your brand story is "pure soy", Luxury Soy Wax Chunks give the premium tier's key number — a stated ceiling of 13% — at ₹599.90/kg, which is ₹5.01 less per 150g jar than CSI 468. What you give up is the coconut-soy blend and CSI 468's lower 58–60°C pour. For how the two families compare on scent, see soy wax vs coconut soy.

The premium candle cost stack

Per kilo, premium wax is 60% dearer than entry soy. Per candle, it is 13% dearer. Per rupee of an example ₹799 retail price, it is four paise.

A premium candle is a stack of materials, and the wax is only one layer. The table builds the same 150g candle four times, changing only the wax. Everything else is fixed: 15g of Dark Vanilla Oud at its 1 kg price (₹5,691), an Eco Candle Wick Thin (C1) from the 100-pack (₹5.90), a Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150g fill, ₹94.40 each in 10s) and a wick sticker (₹2.50 from the 40-sheet).

Extra over entry · as % of an example ₹799 retail price ₹14.61 · 1.83% ₹32.11 · 4.02% ₹70.31 · 8.80%
Priced above: Dark Vanilla Oud 1 kg ₹5,691 → ₹5.691/g × 15 = ₹85.37 · Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 100 for ₹590 = ₹5.90 · Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid pack of 10 ₹944 = ₹94.40 · Candle Wick Stickers 40 for ₹100 = ₹2.50. Non-wax lines total ₹188.17 in every column. The ₹799 retail price is an example for illustration only, not a recommended or typical price. Per-kilo premium: ₹637 ÷ ₹399.20 = 1.60, so 60% dearer; per candle ₹274.17 ÷ ₹242.06 = 1.13.

Look at the share row. Even in CSI 468, wax is under a third of the candle's materials; the jar (₹94.40) and the oil (₹85.37) each cost about as much as the wax. That has two practical consequences for a premium brand. First, the wax upgrade is modest next to the other layers — changing the jar or the oil can move the total just as much. Second, a premium candle in a cheap jar or with a thin oil will not be rescued by its wax. Premium is a stack decision.

Watch the 13% temptation in the stack. CSI 468's 13% ceiling is a reason to buy it, not a reason to always use it. The same 150g jar at 13% holds 19.5g of Dark Vanilla Oud (₹110.97) and 130.5g of CSI 468 (₹83.13), taking materials to ₹296.90 — ₹22.73 more than at 10%, most of it oil. Pour the premium range at 10% first, cure 14 days, and raise the load only for scents that need it. Vanilla-rich oils can also affect wax colour; see why some vanilla fragrance oils turn wax yellow.

The premium bulk picks

Three waxes cover a premium soy range. The size tables for the two 13% waxes count 150g jars at 13% (130.5g of wax each), because headroom is part of what you are paying for; the third counts at 8%, as its page states no load.

Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 (Flakes)
The CSI wax built for the premium tier and packed for bulk. Its page states a coconut-soy blend for single-pour container applications, fragrance load up to 13%, melt 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C, flake form and a 60-month shelf life, and describes an ultra-smooth finish, minimal frosting, excellent glass adhesion and hot and cold throw — descriptions to confirm with the four-week test below. Pricing rewards commitment modestly: ₹650/kg at 500 g and 1 kg, ₹637/kg at 5 kg and 10 kg. One CSI customer who ordered it writes of "high quality" materials and an "ultimate fragrance range".

The premium choice for a brand that wants to say soy rather than coconut-soy. Its page states 8–13% load with 10% recommended, add at 80–90°C with two minutes' stirring, a pour of 75–80°C (specification table) or 70–80°C (method), and a cure of 48 hours minimum and ideally one to two weeks before burn tests. It describes clean burning with minimal soot and excellent adhesion for fragrance oils and dyes — again, things to confirm. A verified buyer found CSI's liquid dyes gave "good vibrant colours in both luxury soy wax and coconut soy wax". Listed price is flat at about ₹599 a kilo in every pack.

Premium Coconut Soy Wax
The highest-priced soy blend in the range at ₹920 a kilo, listed in 500 g (₹460) and 1 kg packs only. Its page describes a blend of non-GMO soy and virgin coconut oil, clean burning with minimal smoke and soot, strong throw and superior adhesion for oils and dyes, suitable for a wide range of container types — and states no load, melt or pour figures. That makes it a wax for a small, high-priced edition after careful testing, not a bulk standard. A long-standing customer on its page calls CSI's products "great and of premium quality".

The CSI principle
Pay for premium where it can be measured. Prove premium where it can only be seen.
A stated 13% ceiling and a stated 58–60°C pour are premium you can hold a supplier to. A smooth, frost-free surface is premium you earn in your own workshop, with the right temperatures, the right jar and a patient cure. Buy the first kind; test for the second.

Test the premium claims before the bulk order

Finish and adhesion show themselves over weeks, not hours, so a premium wax test runs longer than a throw test. The protocol below puts CSI 468 against the wax you use now — here CSI 464 — in the jar you would sell, and gives the premium wax four weeks to prove what its page describes.

1
Buy samples, not bagsCSI 468 500 g (₹325) and CSI 464 500 g (₹260): ₹585 of wax. At 135g per 150g jar, each sample pours three jars. Use the same oil at 10% in all six — 90g in total — and jars from the same pack.
2
Pour each wax at its own stated temperatureCSI 468 at its stated 58–60°C. CSI 464 at the low end of its stated 80–90°C, no higher than the jar's stated 85°C hot-pour limit. Pouring both at one temperature would test your thermometer, not the waxes.
3
Photograph finish and adhesion at 24 hoursSame light, same angle, top and side through the glass. Note any pull-away patches, a rough or cratered top, or oil sitting on the surface. Label each photo with wax, jar number and date.
4
Re-photograph weekly for four weeksFrosting and bloom tend to develop over time and with temperature swings, so a day-one surface proves little. Keep one jar of each wax unlit for the full four weeks as a finish reference.
5
Burn the second and third jars at day 14Cure 14–21 days is standard for soy containers. Score time to a full pool, soot, the look of the re-set surface after burning, and throw at 30 and 120 minutes — see how to test hot throw before launching.
6
Decide on the photos, then on the priceIf CSI 468's jars look and burn visibly better in your jar, the ₹17.50 per candle over CSI 464 is buying something your customer will see. If they look the same, your range may not need the premium tier — or needs it only for its 13% headroom.
Premium is decided in week four, in your own jar, under your own light. Everything before that is a product description.

Does premium wax justify a premium price?

The honest answer is that wax alone rarely justifies a price — but it is one of the cheapest parts of a candle to upgrade, which makes it easy to justify inside a premium price. The table shows what the premium step costs across a batch, so you can set it against the difference you plan to charge. The retail prices are examples only.

Premium step across a batch · 150g jars at 10% · wax only
What moving a 100-candle run to the premium tier costs, set against example price differences
Move Extra wax per candle Extra wax per 100 candles If the premium candle sells for ₹50 more (example) If it sells for ₹100 more (example)
Eco Soy CSI 400 → CSI 464 ₹14.61 ₹1,461 ₹35.39 left per candle ₹85.39 left per candle
CSI 464 → CSI 468 ₹17.50 ₹1,750 ₹32.50 left per candle ₹82.50 left per candle
Eco Soy CSI 400 → CSI 468 ₹32.11 ₹3,211 ₹17.89 left per candle ₹67.89 left per candle
CSI 468 → Premium Coconut Soy Wax ₹38.20 ₹3,820 ₹11.80 left per candle ₹61.80 left per candle

Two decision rules come out of this. If your premium range does not command a higher price than your standard range, the wax step is a cost, not an investment — keep the standard range on CSI 464 or Eco Soy CSI 400 and put the premium wax only where the price is. And the move from CSI 468 to Premium Coconut Soy Wax needs a price difference well beyond ₹38.20 per candle plus the extra testing its unstated figures require; for most brands, CSI 468 is where the premium wax budget stops. How to build the rest of the price is in how to price candles in India.

Don't put the premium wax in the whole range at once. A brand that switches every SKU to CSI 468 raises the wax cost of its volume sellers too. Move the premium line first, keep the standard line on its current wax, and compare sell-through and reviews for a season. Moving 100 standard candles to CSI 468 from CSI 464 costs ₹1,750 in wax; moving them before you know customers notice is how margin disappears quietly.
Premium test passed? CSI 468 at ₹6,370 per 10 kg (₹637/kg, the same as the 5 kg pack). For recurring premium volumes, a GST invoice and MSDS, send the wax, bags a month and your pincode on WhatsApp.

Buying premium soy in bulk

Premium wax in bulk has one extra consideration: it is the most expensive stock on your shelf, so the pack ladder and the storage statement matter more than they do for entry soy. Here is what the listed prices and pages say.

Premium-tier pack ladders · CSI live pricing, September 2026
How premium soy prices behave from sample to bulk, and what the listed ceiling is above
Wax 500 g 1 kg 5 kg 10 kg 50 kg at listed prices
Coconut Soy CSI 468 ₹325 (₹650/kg) ₹650 ₹3,185 (₹637/kg) ₹6,370 (₹637/kg) 5 × 10 kg = ₹31,850
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹299 (₹598/kg) ₹599 ₹2,995 (₹599/kg) ₹5,999 (₹599.90/kg) 5 × 10 kg = ₹29,995
Premium Coconut Soy Wax ₹460 (₹920/kg) ₹920 Not listed Not listed Not listed · 10 kg as 10 × 1 kg = ₹9,200

On CSI 468 the step from 1 kg to 5 kg saves ₹13 a kilo; over 50 kg bought as 10 kg bags instead of 1 kg packs that is ₹650 (₹32,500 − ₹31,850). Useful, not decisive. The more important bulk facts are on the page: the stated 60-month shelf life in cool, dry storage means a premium brand can hold a season's CSI 468 without the wax ageing out, provided it is stored off the floor, away from heat and sun, and resealed after each weighing. No 25 kg or 100 kg pack is listed for any premium-tier wax; recurring volumes above the listed packs are quoted on WhatsApp, and this guide does not predict the quote. For premium vessels to match the wax, see luxury candle jars wholesale, and for the two "Luxury" soy waxes compared head to head, luxury soy wax wholesale supplier.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials to candle makers; it does not make finished candles and is not a wax manufacturer. A supplier writing about its premium wax has every reason to call the premium claims facts. This guide does the opposite: it labels finish, frosting and adhesion as descriptions to test, prices the upgrade at ₹32.11 a candle rather than dressing it up, and tells you not to move your volume line to premium until customers show they notice.

Every price, pack and specification is taken from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, which always takes precedence. Stated figures — CSI 468 up to 13%, melt 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C, 60-month shelf life; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 8–13% — are quoted as published and are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Descriptive phrases are quoted from the pages and identified as such. Retail prices in this guide are examples, not recommendations.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best premium soy wax to buy in bulk in India?
At CSI, Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 is the premium wax sold in bulk packs: ₹3,185 for 5 kg and ₹6,370 for 10 kg (₹637/kg), with a stated load of up to 13%, melt 50–53°C and pour 58–60°C. For a pure-soy premium range, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state the same 13% ceiling at ₹5,999 per 10 kg. Test either in your own jar before a bulk order.
What makes a soy wax premium?
Four things a premium candle depends on: fragrance headroom, documented working specifications, a clean finish and good glass adhesion. The first two can be stated as numbers — CSI 468 states up to 13% and a 58–60°C pour. Finish and adhesion are described on product pages but depend on your jar, oil, pour and room, so confirm them by photographing test jars weekly for four weeks.
How much more does premium soy wax cost per candle?
Less than the per-kilo price suggests. In a 150g jar at 10%, CSI 468 carries ₹86 of wax against ₹53.89 for Eco Soy CSI 400 and ₹68.50 for CSI 464 at bulk prices — ₹32.11 and ₹17.50 more. With oil, wick, jar and sticker, the candle's materials rise from ₹242.06 to ₹274.17, about 13%, while the wax itself is 60% dearer per kilo.
Does premium soy wax stop frosting?
No wax can promise that on its own. CSI 468's page describes minimal frosting and CSI 464's describes low frosting, but frosting also depends on pour temperature, jar temperature, room conditions and time. Pour at the wax's stated temperature, cure 14–21 days, and photograph test jars weekly for four weeks before relying on a premium wax to solve a frosting problem.
Is coconut soy wax better than soy wax for premium candles?
It is different rather than automatically better. CSI 468, a coconut-soy blend, states up to 13% with a lower 58–60°C pour; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, a soy wax, state 8–13%. Per 150g jar at 10% the soy option is ₹5.01 cheaper, and CSI 468 costs ₹13 a kilo less at 5 kg than at 1 kg. Choose by brand story and by a side-by-side test in your jar, not by the word "coconut".
Can I buy Premium Coconut Soy Wax in 10 kg or 25 kg packs?
Not as listed packs. Premium Coconut Soy Wax is listed at 500 g (₹460) and 1 kg (₹920), so 10 kg at listed prices would be ten 1 kg packs, ₹9,200. For bulk premium coconut-soy, CSI 468 is listed at 5 kg and 10 kg. For larger or recurring volumes of either, ask on WhatsApp; listed prices are the ceiling.
Premium you can measure, premium you can see
Buy the stated 13%. Prove the finish in week four. Price the candle knowing the upgrade is about ₹32 a jar.
