A thousand candles can come from five suppliers or one. The difference isn't the price per kilo — it's how many things can go wrong between them.

A 1,000-candle run needs about 140 kg of wax, 12 kg of fragrance oil, a thousand wicks, jars and stickers — and in India those can come from specialist candle suppliers, wax traders, marketplaces, glass wholesalers, fragrance houses or import. This guide compares the routes, gives you ten questions to ask any supplier, and prices the whole run from one.

for wax, fragrance oil, wicks, wick stickers, care stickers and 1,000 jars — 1,000 × 150g candles at 8% from one supplier at listed prices · ₹234.28 a candle · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Where can I buy raw materials for 1,000 candles in India? From a specialist candle-making supplier that lists wax, oils, wicks, jars and packaging together; or by splitting across wax traders, glass wholesalers, fragrance houses and marketplaces. One supplier means one set of specs and one invoice; several means more deliveries, more checks and more room for mismatch.

What does it cost from one supplier? At CSI's listed prices, 1,000 × 150g candles at 8% need ₹2,34,277.40 of materials: 15 × 10 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 12 kg of oil across four scents, 1,000 Eco Candle Wicks, 1,000 wick stickers, 1,000 jars and a 1,000-sticker care roll.

What costs the most? The jar: ₹94.40 of the ₹234.28 per candle, ahead of wax (₹76.11) and oil (₹54.67). Swapping to a cheaper jar changes the basket more than swapping wax.

What won't one supplier cover? CSI does not list candle-making machines, UV inhibitor, pre-tabbed wicks or custom printed brand labels. Plan those separately.
The short answer
Write the shopping list first: kilos of wax, kilos of oil per scent, wicks, jars and stickers — before comparing any supplier.
Judge suppliers on ten questions, not one price: stated specs, pack ladder, stock visibility, sampling path, bulk channel, GST invoicing, documentation and what they don't stock.
Sample, quote, then stage: a ₹3,318 test basket, a full-list quote on WhatsApp, and deliveries timed to your pour days.
Where ₹234.28 goes — materials for one 150g candle in the 1,000-candle basket Jar ₹94.4040.3% Wax ₹76.1132.5% Oil ₹54.6723.3% Wick ₹5.90 · wick sticker ₹2.50 · care sticker ₹0.70 From one supplier: one set of stated specs · one quote request · one GST invoice · one place to check a delivery Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 · four fragrance oils · Eco Candle Wicks C1 · Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150g fill) · listed prices
Segment widths are each material's share of the ₹234.28 listed cost per candle. The jar is the largest line, the wax second and the oil third; wicks and stickers together are under ₹10. Boxes and one-off tools are costed separately below.
Straight answer
Where should I buy the raw materials for 1,000 candles in India?
Start with the list, not the supplier. 1,000 × 150g candles at an 8% load need 138 kg of wax plus a 3–5% planning allowance (15 × 10 kg bags), 12 kg of fragrance oil, 1,000 wicks, 1,000 wick stickers, 1,000 jars and 1,000 care stickers. Those can be split across wax traders, glass wholesalers, fragrance houses and online marketplaces, or bought from a specialist candle-making supplier that lists all of them. Splitting can suit very large runs; for 1,000 candles, one supplier usually wins on what matters — stated specs you can plan from, one quote, one GST invoice and one delivery to inspect. At CSI's listed prices the whole run costs ₹2,34,277.40: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 ₹76,110, four fragrance oils ₹54,668.40, 1,000 Eco Candle Wicks ₹5,900, wick stickers ₹2,500, 1,000 Clear Glass Jars with Golden Lid ₹94,400 and a care sticker roll ₹699 — ₹234.28 a candle. Ask any supplier the ten questions below, run a ₹3,318 sample basket first, then send the full list on WhatsApp for a quote. CSI does not list candle-making machines, UV inhibitor, pre-tabbed wicks or custom printed labels, so those need another source.
One line: list the 1,000-candle materials first, test a ₹3,318 sample, then buy the ₹2,34,277 basket from the supplier that answers all ten questions — and source only the gaps elsewhere.
Everything in the basket is listed: CSI 464 at ₹5,074 per 10 kg, 1,000 Eco Candle Wicks at ₹5,900, Clear Glass Jars with Golden Lid at ₹1,888 per 20, care sticker rolls at ₹699 per 1,000 — and fragrance oils from 15 g to 1 kg.

The 1,000-candle shopping list, before any supplier

You can't compare suppliers on a list you haven't written. Most sourcing mistakes are really arithmetic mistakes made in a hurry.

Fix one candle and multiply it. This guide uses a 150g candle at an 8% load — 138g of wax and 12g of oil — because the jar in the basket, the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid, states a "150g fill capacity", so every line rests on a stated number rather than an ml-to-grams guess. If your jar states only millilitres, fill and weigh one first. The wax and oil arithmetic for 200g candles is in how much wax for 1,000 candles and how much fragrance oil for 1,000 candles.

1,000 × 150g candles at 8% · quantities only
What the run consumes, what to plan on top, and what is bought once
Material Per candle For 1,000 Plan on top Where the maths comes from
Container wax 138 g 138 kg 3–5% planning allowance → 142.1–144.9 kg 150g × (1 − 0.08)
Fragrance oil 12 g 12 kg across your scents Weighed per melt; round each scent to bottles 150g × 0.08
Wicks 1 1,000 Test two thicknesses before committing One per single-wick candle
Wick stickers 1 1,000 One per wick base
Jars with lids 1 1,000 Your own spare count for breakage and rejects Stated 150g fill
Care stickers 1 1,000 One per jar
Outer boxes (optional) 1 1,000 Check fit with one filled jar Depends on how you ship
Tools (once) Melter, pitcher, scale, thermometer, centering devices Bought once, reused for every run Throughput, not candle count

Two lines on that list are commonly under-planned. The wax allowance covers melter residue, top-ups and rejects — a planning figure you replace with your own measured loss after the first run. And the jar count needs a spare margin of your own choosing: this guide will not invent a breakage rate, but a run with exactly 1,000 jars and one cracked lid is a run of 999 candles. For the complete list of raw materials a candle business uses beyond this run, see the complete candle making raw material list.

Where the materials can come from

In India, a 1,000-candle run can be sourced through six broad routes. None is universally right, and this guide names no businesses — the point is what each type of source is structurally good at, and what you would need to check before relying on it for a run this size.

Sourcing routes for a 1,000-candle run · general characteristics, not named suppliers
What each route is good at, what to check, and how it fits 1,000 candles
Route Typically good for Check before relying on it Fit at 1,000 candles
Specialist candle-making supplier Candle-grade wax, oils, wicks, jars and packaging from one catalogue; sample sizes up to bulk packs Largest listed pack per material; whether specs are published; bulk quote channel; stock visibility Strong — the whole list on one order
Wax or industrial chemical trader Large wax quantities Whether a candle fragrance load and pour temperature are stated; grade naming; minimum order; no wicks, jars or oils Wax only; the rest comes from elsewhere
Online marketplace Speed, small quantities, trying a product Who the actual seller is; whether the same listing is the same product next time; invoice type; specification detail Harder to keep identical across 1,000 units and a reorder
Glass and packaging wholesaler Jars and boxes by the carton Hot-pour rating; lid fit; per-design minimums; breakage in transit; separate delivery to receive and inspect Jars and boxes only
Fragrance or perfumery house Wide scent libraries, larger containers Candle suitability; MSDS and IFRA documents per oil; minimum per scent Oils only; a minimum per scent can force a smaller range
Direct import Unit cost at volumes far beyond one run Customs, cash paid well ahead, lead time, no local returns, testing before shipment Rarely sensible for a single 1,000-candle run

The hidden cost of splitting is not on any price list. Four suppliers means four orders to place, four deliveries to receive, four sets of paperwork, and four points where one late or wrong item stops the whole run — a correct wax delivery is worthless on the day the jars have not arrived. It also means four sources of specification that must agree with each other: a jar's hot-pour limit has to sit above your wax's stated pour temperature, and a wick has to be tested in that jar with that wax. The broader question of consolidating is covered in can I buy all my candle making materials from one supplier.

The mistake: choosing each material on its own lowest price. A maker finds wax a little cheaper from a trader, jars from a glass wholesaler and oils from a marketplace listing. Each line looks like a saving. Then the jars arrive a week after the wax, the marketplace oil listing has changed seller, and nobody can say whether the jar's hot-pour limit suits the wax. At 1,000 candles, the cheapest basket is the one that arrives complete, matches its stated specs and can be reordered identically. Compare suppliers on the whole basket and on the ten questions below, not line by line.

Ten questions to ask any supplier

Ask these of every candidate supplier, including CSI. The right-hand column answers them for CSI from what is actually listed in September 2026 — including the answers that are "no" or "ask".

Supplier checklist for a 1,000-candle order · CSI answered from live listings, September 2026
What to ask, why it matters at 1,000 candles, and how CSI answers
# Question Why it matters at 1,000 CSI's answer
1 Does each wax page state a fragrance load and temperatures? You plan 12 kg of oil and a pour schedule from it Yes for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (8–13%), CSI 464 (up to 10%) and CSI 468 (up to 13%); Eco Soy CSI 400 states add temperature only; Natural Soy Pearl Wax states none
2 What is the largest listed pack of each material? It sets how many packs you open and store Soy wax 10 kg (Natural Soy Pearl 50 kg); fragrance 1 kg; Eco wicks 1,000; Salsa jars 100; Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid 20
3 Is the price per unit visible for every pack? You can check whether bigger packs actually cost less Yes — listed per pack; flat on most waxes and Eco wicks, stepped on some jars, oils and wooden wicks
4 Can you see what is out of stock? A sold-out line found at checkout stalls a run Yes — sold-out variants are flagged, e.g. the 100-sticker wick sheet and 10-pack of C2 wicks at the time of writing
5 Is there a sampling path? Test before 1,000 units 500 g and 1 kg wax; 15 g and 50 g oils; 10-packs of wicks and jars
6 Is there a bulk quote channel? Listed prices are the ceiling at this volume WhatsApp +91 7397976926; this guide does not predict the quote
7 GST invoice? Input credit and clean books for a registered business GST invoicing is handled on WhatsApp
8 MSDS and IFRA documents for oils? Retail and corporate buyers may ask Available on request via WhatsApp
9 What don't you stock? Gaps must be sourced in time No candle-making machines, UV inhibitor, pre-tabbed wicks or custom printed brand labels
10 What is the lead time to my pincode? It sets your reorder point and pour dates Not published here — ask with your pincode and measure it on the first order
Match the jar to the wax before you buy either
The Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid states it is "Safe for hot pour up to 85°C". CSI 464's page gives its pour temperature as 80–90°C, so pour it at or below the jar's 85°C and log the reading; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state a 70–80°C pour and CSI 468 a 58–60°C pour, both inside the jar's stated limit. This is exactly the check that gets missed when jar and wax come from different suppliers with different spec sheets.

The one-supplier basket, costed

Here is the complete 1,000 × 150g run priced from CSI's listed packs. The oil is split 30/25/25/20 across Lavender, Jasmine, Sandalwood and Orchard Pear and rounded to the cheapest sensible listed bottles. Wicks are Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1); the Thick (C2) alternative is shown because the jar page states no wick size, so both should be tested. Boxes and tools are separated because not every run needs them.

The basket answers the question most buyers really have: what does a 1,000-candle run cost in materials before labour, packaging design and shipping? At listed prices, ₹234.28 a candle for this jar, this wax and these oils. With boxes it is ₹256.70. The shares are what should shape your sourcing effort. The jar is 40.3% of the basket, the wax 32.5%, the oil 23.3%, and wicks and stickers together about 3.9%. Negotiating hard on wicks saves paise; choosing the jar well saves rupees.

The jar line shows it most clearly. The 200ml Salsa Glass Jar with Golden Lid lists at ₹2,950 per 100 — ₹29.50 a jar — so 1,000 of them are ₹29,500, ₹64,900 less than the jar in the basket. But its capacity is stated only as "200ml", so the wax and oil lines cannot simply be copied across: fill and weigh one with your wax, then re-run the list. That is the sourcing decision with the biggest rupee value in the whole run, and it is a design choice as much as a price one.

The CSI principle
Source the run, not the line. The basket that arrives complete and matches its specs is the cheap one.
At 1,000 candles, a few rupees saved on one material rarely survives a late jar delivery, a wax whose pour temperature your glass can't take, or an oil listing that has changed by the reorder. Price the whole basket, ask every supplier the same ten questions, and put your effort where the rupees are — the jar and the wax.

The four lines that decide the basket

Four listed lines either carry most of the cost or decide whether the run works at all: the wax and the jar are 72.8% of the basket, and the wick and care roll are the lines most easily left until too late. Each card shows every listed pack with its per-unit price.

It is listed in packs of 10 and 20 at the same ₹94.40 a jar, so 1,000 is fifty 20-packs — which is precisely the sort of quantity to put in a WhatsApp quote request. What one supplier won't cover

One-supplier sourcing is only honest if the gaps are named. For a 1,000-candle run, these are the items CSI does not list, or lists only in ways that affect planning — and what to do about each.

Gaps and limits · CSI listings, September 2026
What isn't listed, what is closest, and how to plan around it
Item Listed at CSI? Closest listed option Plan
Candle-making machines (filling, moulding, wicking) No Electric Wax Melter 10 kg ₹21,240 / 20 kg ₹25,960; Wax Pouring Funnel (4 nozzles) ₹1,888 A 1,000-candle run is manageable with a melter and hand pouring; machines are a separate equipment purchase
UV inhibitor No If coloured candles will sit in light, source and test separately
Pre-tabbed wicks Not described as such Eco Candle Wicks; Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made; Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs ₹706.82 Ask on WhatsApp for specifics; test the wick you choose
Custom printed brand labels No Candle Care Stickers Roll (care information, not branding) Brief a label printer early, alongside the material order
Fragrance above 1 kg per bottle Not listed 1 kg, 500 g, 100 g bottles 12 kg is a set of bottles; quote on WhatsApp
Soy wax above 10 kg per bag Only Natural Soy Pearl Wax lists 50 kg 10 kg bags on five soy waxes 150 kg is 15 bags; CSI 464's page mentions a 25 kg format not listed as a variant — ask
1,000-jar packs Not listed Salsa jars in 100s; Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid in 20s Quote the full jar count on WhatsApp
The mistake: discovering the gap on pour day. The wax, oil, wicks and jars arrive from one supplier, and then someone asks where the brand labels are. Printed labels need artwork, a proof and a print run from a separate supplier, and none of that happens by itself while the candles cure. List every gap on day one, source it in parallel, and make "labels in hand" a condition for starting the pour — not something to sort out during the cure.

Sample, quote, stage: the buying path

No supplier's listing can tell you how their wax, their jar and their wick behave together in your room. A ₹3,318 sample can.

The safest way to buy 1,000 candles' worth of materials is to spend about 1.4% of the basket first. The sample below lets you pour ten 150g jars across the four scents, on both wick thicknesses, using the same wax and jar as the full run.

1
Buy the ₹3,318 sample basket2 × 1 kg CSI 464 (₹1,014.80), 50 g each of Lavender ₹270, Jasmine ₹230, Sandalwood ₹271.40 and Orchard Pear ₹240, one 10-pack of Clear Glass Jars with Golden Lid ₹944, Eco C1 × 10 ₹59, Eco C2 × 20 ₹188.80 and a 40-sticker wick sheet ₹100. Ten jars at 138g of wax need 1.38 kg, which is why the wax is two kilos.
2
Pour ten jars, one variable at a timeThree Lavender, three Jasmine, two Sandalwood, two Orchard Pear — 12g of oil each — split across C1 and C2 wicks. Log the add and pour temperatures, and keep the pour at or below the jar's stated 85°C.
3
Cure 14–21 days, then burnChoose the wick that reaches a clean full melt pool, and confirm each scent at 8%. Only now are the basket's quantities real.
4
Send the full list on WhatsAppEvery line with pack counts, your GST number, pincode, pour start date and whether you want one delivery or two. Ask for MSDS and IFRA documents for each oil and a stated lead time to your pincode.
5
Stage the delivery to your pour daysJars, wicks and stickers can come first; wax and oil can follow in two drops if the run is spread over weeks. Every drop that arrives before it is needed is cash and floor space tied up.
6
Check everything at goods-inCount jars and lids, open one wax bag and one of every oil, and pour one control candle from each delivery before production. A problem found at goods-in costs an afternoon; found by a customer, it costs the customer.

If the run is for a single date — Diwali on 8 November 2026 is the obvious one — work the staging backwards from the ship date through a 14–21 day cure and your pour days; the full festive version is in manufacturing 1,000 candles for Diwali. If it will repeat every month, the conversation becomes a supply arrangement rather than a basket, and wholesale candle making raw materials across India is the better starting point.

A thousand candles fail at the join between suppliers far more often than inside any one material.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A "where to buy" guide written by a supplier has an obvious bias, so this one names the gaps first: CSI does not list candle-making machines, UV inhibitor, pre-tabbed wicks or custom printed labels, no fragrance oil is listed above 1 kg and no jar in a 1,000-pack, and delivery lead times are not published here. It describes other sourcing routes by type and names no other business.

Every price, pack size and specification on this page comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Wax loads and temperatures and the jar's fill and hot-pour limit are quoted only as the product pages state them; loads are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. The 3–5% wax allowance and the 30/25/25/20 scent split are planning assumptions.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy raw materials for 1,000 candles in India?
From a specialist candle-making supplier that lists wax, fragrance oils, wicks, jars and packaging together, or by splitting across wax traders, glass and packaging wholesalers, fragrance houses and online marketplaces. For a single 1,000-candle run, one supplier is usually simpler: one set of stated specs, one quote, one GST invoice and one delivery to inspect. Source only the gaps — such as printed labels — elsewhere.
How much do raw materials for 1,000 candles cost?
At CSI's listed September 2026 prices, 1,000 × 150g candles at 8% cost ₹2,34,277.40 in materials, or ₹234.28 each: 150 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 ₹76,110, 12 kg of oil across four scents ₹54,668.40, 1,000 Eco Candle Wicks ₹5,900, wick stickers ₹2,500, 1,000 Clear Glass Jars with Golden Lid ₹94,400 and a care sticker roll ₹699. Boxes add ₹22,420; tools ₹22,892 once.
Is it better to buy candle materials from one supplier or several?
For 1,000 candles, one supplier usually wins on reliability rather than on any single price: fewer deliveries, one invoice, and specs that can be checked against each other — for example a jar's stated 85°C hot-pour limit against a wax's stated pour temperature. Several suppliers can make sense for very large or recurring volumes, or for items one supplier does not stock. Compare whole baskets, not individual lines.
Can I buy 1,000 candle jars from CSI?
Not as a single listed pack. The Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (stated 150g fill) is listed in packs of 10 and 20 at ₹94.40 a jar, so 1,000 is fifty 20-packs for ₹94,400. The 200ml Salsa Glass Jar is listed in 100s at ₹29.50 a jar — ₹29,500 for 1,000 — but states capacity in ml, so weigh a filled one before planning wax. For 1,000 jars, ask for a quote on WhatsApp.
What should I test before ordering materials for 1,000 candles?
The exact wax, jar, wick and oils you will use, together. A ₹3,318 sample — 2 kg of CSI 464, four 50 g oils, ten 150g jars and C1 and C2 Eco wicks — lets you pour ten candles, cure them 14–21 days and burn-test both wick thicknesses at 8%. Check the pour temperature against the jar's stated hot-pour limit, then scale the quantities that passed.
Does CSI provide GST invoices and MSDS for bulk candle material orders?
Yes — bulk pricing, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation are handled on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926. Send the full material list with pack counts, your GST number and pincode, and ask for documents for each fragrance oil and a lead time to your location. This guide does not state what a bulk quote will be; listed prices are the ceiling.

Figures verified September 2026: Candle: 150g at 8% (share of finished candle) = 138g wax + 12g oil; 1,000 candles = 138 kg wax + 12 kg oil; allowance 3–5% (planning figure) = 142.14–144.9 kg → 15 × 10 kg bags. Scent split 30/25/25/20 = 300/250/250/200 candles × 12g = 3.6/3.0/3.0/2.4 kg.
