Spending your 1 kg bag as a test, not as stock
A kilogram of soy wax is five 200 g candles at 8%, with 80 g left for the pot (1,000 g minus 5 × 184 g). That is not much wax. Spent carelessly it tells you almost nothing. Spent as a planned test, it tells you whether to buy the next 10 kg.
Five candles, one question
Decide what the kilogram is for before you open it. If the question is the wick, pour all five in the same jar, oil and load, and split them across two wick sizes. If the question is the load, keep the wick fixed and vary the oil. Keep one candle unburned as your reference. Five candles answer one question well; they cannot answer three.
Two waxes, two kilograms
If you are choosing between waxes, buy 1 kg of each rather than 2 kg of one. A kilogram of CSI 464 is ₹507.40 and a kilogram of Eco Soy CSI 400 is ₹399.00. Pour both on the same day, in the same room, with the same oil and wick, and compare them after the same cure.
Where the 1 kg price misleads you
For most CSI soy waxes the 1 kg price is also the rate you will pay later. Two are different. Natural Soy Pearl Wax costs ₹450.00 at 1 kg and ₹424.80 per kilogram from 5 kg. Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 (flakes) costs ₹650.00 at 1 kg and ₹637.00 from 5 kg. If you cost your range from the test bag, those two will look dearer than they will be in production.
When 500 g is the smarter first bag
CSI 464, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, CSI 468 and Soy Pillar Wax also come in 500 g, which makes two 200 g candles. For a first look at a wax you are unsure about, that can be enough. On Chunks the 500 g bag is actually the cheapest per kilogram, ₹598.00 against ₹599.00. On CSI 464 it is dearer, ₹520.00 against ₹507.40, so step up to 1 kg once the wax is a serious candidate. Pearl and Eco Soy CSI 400 start at 1 kg.
Mistake: selling the test candles. The five candles from a test kilogram are samples. If one tunnels or sweats, you want it doing so on your own shelf, not in a customer's home.
