Does the wax grade change the cure? It changes what you are waiting for. Only the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page publishes a cure figure; CSI 464, CSI 468 and Eco Soy CSI 400 do not — that is not published, so ask on WhatsApp rather than trusting a number from anywhere else.
Does a higher fragrance load need a longer cure? No — but it makes the cure more informative. A load above what the wax holds shows up as beading or a wet film in the first 48 hours, long before the scent settles. Two ceilings apply and the lower governs: Chunks states up to 13%, the British Rose page states up to 10% for soy, so 10% is your limit on that pair.
What should I write down during a cure? Pour date, wax and batch, oil and pack, load as a percentage of wax weight, add temperature, stir time, jar, wick, and three dated readings at day 3, day 14 and day 21. Nine fields on a strip of paper turns ₹174.79 of materials into evidence you can reuse.
The two published numbers, and the different jobs they do
Fifty-four of CSI's ninety-two fragrance oil pages publish a cure figure, and every one of them gives the same range: 48–72 hours for soy wax, with 24–48 hours quoted for paraffin where the page separates the two. The Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page, meanwhile, asks for a minimum of 48 hours and says ideally 1–2 weeks before burn testing. The remaining thirty-eight oil pages publish no cure figure at all — that is not published, so ask on WhatsApp rather than assuming.
The reconciliation is simple once you notice that the two numbers permit different actions. At 48–72 hours a candle is set, safe to light and honest to burn-test: you can read the melt pool, the flame, the wick and the surface. It is not yet the candle you will sell, because the scent is still moving. At two weeks, on a soy container candle, what you smell is close to what a customer will smell in week six — which is the only reading worth buying oil on. Cure by wax grade: what each CSI page does and does not publish
The grade changes the cure in two ways. It changes how quickly the candle physically sets, which is a function of the melt point and the room; and it changes how much oil the wax can hold, which decides whether the cure is going to turn into a sweating problem. Everything else about the schedule stays the same across the soy family.

The practical consequence sits in the CSI 468 row. A coconut-soy blend with a melting point of 50–53°C behaves differently in an Indian October from a soy that works at 80–90°C: it sets softer, and in an un-air-conditioned Chennai or Mumbai store room in the mid-thirties, a surface that looks unfinished on day three may simply be warm rather than uncured. Move a jar to a cooler shelf for an hour before you judge its surface, and do not confuse room temperature with a cure fault.
Cure and load: the fortnight is your dose audit
Wax holds only so much oil in solution. Below that, the oil stays bound in and the cure is purely about the scent settling. Above it, the excess separates out during exactly the period you are calling a cure: beads on the surface, a wet film under the lid, an oily ring where the wax meets the glass. Nothing about waiting longer fixes it, because the wax is not going to change its mind.
This is why the load decision belongs to the pour and not to the cure, and why two published ceilings always apply at once. On Luxury Soy Wax Chunks with British Rose, the wax page says up to 13% of total wax weight and the oil page says up to 10% for soy — so 10% is your ceiling, not 13%. The lower figure governs, every time.

Cure by format: a votive is not a 500 g apothecary jar
Mass, surface area and the lid change how a candle sets and how much scent has anywhere to go. A 70 g votive sets quickly and has a small surface for cold throw; a 500 g apothecary jar holds heat for much longer after the pour and is the most likely to sink in the middle. None of that changes the scent clock — day 14 is still day 14 — but it changes what a surface fault means and how quickly you can read one.

One rule crosses every format: do not judge two formats against each other and call it a fragrance result. A votive that reads quieter than a 200 g jar is behaving exactly as a votive should. Compare like with like — same jar, same wick, same load, same shelf — or the cure log will teach you something that is not true.
The cure log: nine fields at the pour, three readings after
Curing parks money. Two hundred 200 g jars at the series unit with a lidded glass jar is ₹53,837.60 of materials sitting on a rack doing nothing for a fortnight. That is a reasonable price for certainty and a terrible price for a vague impression, and the only difference between the two is nine fields written at the pour.

Two details make the log worth keeping. Score cold and hot throw separately on a small scale — nought to three at one, two and three hours gives you nine points — because a single impression cannot be compared with anything later. And record the pack the oil came from: if the 50 gm bottle you tested and the 1 kg pack you produced from behave differently, that is worth a WhatsApp message rather than a guess.
The approval gate: six things that must be true before a scent goes on sale
This is the point of the whole exercise. A scent is not approved because it smelled nice one evening; it is approved because six specific things were true on specific dates, and because somebody signed the card. Everything below can be checked with jars you have already paid for.

The sixth gate is the one most small brands skip and the only one that makes the other five worth anything. One batch is an anecdote. Two batches poured to the same card, a fortnight apart, scoring within about a point of each other, is a recipe — and a recipe is the thing you can hand to somebody else, scale to five kilogrammes, or defend to a corporate buyer who asks why this candle costs what it costs.
Curing at volume: racks, rupees and a rolling calendar
Three things bite as volume grows. Space: a fortnight of production has to sit somewhere flat, dark and reasonably cool, lidded, and undisturbed. Money: that stock is bought and not yet sold — two hundred 200 g jars in a lidded glass jar is ₹53,837.60 of materials, and fifty is ₹13,459.40. And sequence: if you pour to order, the cure is fourteen days of lead time that your customer has not agreed to.
The fix for all three is a rolling calendar rather than a single big pour. Pour a batch every week, judge each batch on the same weekday a fortnight later, and label racks by scent date rather than by scent. From the second fortnight onwards a batch matures every week, cure stops being a bottleneck, and the money parked on the rack settles at two weeks of production instead of all of it. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November 2026, so a festive range needs to be poured by about mid-October to have a 14–21 day cure and still reach a courier in time — the arithmetic behind that fortnight is in why your candle needs a 14-day cure.

The bench card: the whole system on one screen
At the pour: nine fields on a batch card — batch code, date, wax and pack, oil and pack, load as a percentage of wax weight, grams of oil, jar, wick. Load capped at the lower of the two published ceilings. Both dates written on the jar base.
Day 3: surface and burn only. Dry surface, no beads, no oily ring; full pool by about three hours with a steady flame. This is the 48–72 hour window the oil pages publish. No scent verdicts.
Day 14: cold throw from a freshly opened lid, then hot throw scored 0–3 at one, two and three hours. Somebody who was not in the workshop scores it. This is where the money decision is made.
Day 21: colour and surface on vanillin-bearing oils only — the Vanilla Bean page publishes 2.5% vanillin, and yellowing is cosmetic. Decide what the label will say.
Next batch: pour the same card again and check it lands within about a point. Then it is a recipe, and only then does it belong in a catalogue, a wholesale line sheet or a corporate quotation.

This page says the opposite: most weak-scent verdicts are passed on jars that are three days old, and the honest fix is a fortnight of patience and a written card rather than a new bottle.
