Pillar & Mould · Silicone
Silicone moulds make detailed shapes easy, but they hide one number you need: how much wax the cavity holds. CSI does not publish cavity weights, so every recipe on this page starts with a scale. Weigh the fill, set a tested load, then price each piece.
₹97.60
material cost of an illustrative 100 g silicone-moulded piece with Orchard Pear at 8% (8 g oil + 92 g Soy Pillar Wax + braided wick) · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Can I use fragrance oil in silicone mould candles? Yes. It is the most common way to scent them. Mix the oil into melted wax before you pour, at a load you have tested in that wax. No fragrance ceiling is published for CSI's pillar wax, so start with a labelled 6/8/10% ladder.

How do I know how much wax my silicone mould holds? Weigh it. Fill the cavity with water and weigh it for a rough upper bound, then pour one plain wax fill and weigh that. Wax is lighter than water, so use the wax weight. CSI does not publish cavity weights for its moulds.

How much oil goes into a 100 g piece? At 8%, 8 g of oil and 92 g of wax. That is ₹40.00 of Japanese Cherry Blossom or ₹33.42 of Peach Melon Berry at 100 g rates. Cost per piece prices 60 g, 100 g and 150 g.

Does fragrance oil damage silicone moulds? In general practice, repeated contact with fragrance oil and hot wax can dull or weaken silicone over time. How fast depends on the mould and the oil, and CSI publishes no mould life. Clean the mould gently, let it cool between pours and watch for changes. Mould care has the routine.
The short answer
Method: Weigh a water fill, then a wax fill (wax is lighter). Oil = wax-fill weight × load. Test 6%, 8% and 10%, labelled. Never exceed 13%.
Per piece: At 8% with Soy Pillar Wax and a braided wick, a 60 g piece costs ₹69.12 to ₹65.17 and a 150 g piece ₹154.80 to ₹144.93 across the three example oils.
Moulds: Lotus, Cherry Blossom and Sunflower ₹295.00 · Orange ₹354.00 · Ladoo ₹472.00 · Peony ₹531.00 · Big Rose ₹590.00 · Teddy ₹708.00 · Big Bubble ₹2,124.00. Cavity weights not published.
Weigh the mould, then do the maths — how to get oil grams for any silicone mould 1 · Water fill Fill the cavity with water, weigh it. An upper bound only. 2 · Wax fill Pour plain melted wax, let it set, weigh it. Wax is lighter than water. 3 · Choose a load 6 / 8 / 10% test ladder. No pillar-wax ceiling is published — test. 4 · Oil grams oil = wax-fill weight × load. e.g. 100 g × 8% = 8 g oil. Example uses an illustrative 100 g wax fill: 8 g oil + 92 g wax. Your mould's real fill will differ — weigh it. Cavity weights for CSI moulds are not published. Never borrow a number from another page — weigh.
The 100 g fill is only an example to show the arithmetic. Your cavity will hold whatever it holds, and the only reliable figure is one you weigh yourself, in wax. The 6/8/10% steps are a labelled test ladder. CSI does not publish a fragrance ceiling for its pillar wax.
Straight answer
How do I use fragrance oil in silicone mould candles?
Treat a silicone-moulded candle like a small pillar with detail on the outside. Mix the fragrance oil into melted wax, then pour it into a mould you have already weighed. CSI does not publish cavity weights for its moulds, so the first step is always the scale. Weigh a water fill for a rough upper bound, then a plain wax fill for the real figure, because wax is lighter than water. Multiply the wax-fill weight by your load to get grams of oil. For an illustrative 100 g piece at 8%, that is 8 g of oil and 92 g of wax. No fragrance ceiling is published for Soy Pillar Wax or the other pillar waxes. Run a labelled 6/8/10% ladder and keep the load where the piece releases cleanly and stays dry on the surface. Detailed shapes show sweating and drag faster than plain cylinders. Look after the mould too: let it cool between pours, clean it gently, and watch for dulling over time. At 100 g rates and 8%, a 100 g piece costs ₹107.20 to ₹100.62 in oil, wax and wick across Japanese Cherry Blossom, Orchard Pear and Peach Melon Berry.
One line: no cavity weight is published for any CSI mould, so weigh a wax fill before you calculate a single gram of oil.
A flower-mould starter: Cherry Blossom Flower Mould at ₹295.00 with Japanese Cherry Blossom 15 g at ₹104.00 and Soy Pillar Wax 500 g at ₹300.00, ₹699.00 in all. 15 g at 8% scents 187.5 g of finished wax, so weigh your cavity and see how many pieces that is.

Weigh the mould before you calculate anything

A silicone mould tells you its shape and its price. It does not tell you its weight, and every gram of oil depends on that.

Every fragrance calculation is a share of the finished piece's weight: oil = weight × load. For a jar, the fill weight is often printed. For a silicone mould it almost never is, and CSI does not publish cavity weights for any of its moulds. The rose, peony, lotus, teddy and ladoo moulds all come without a number. So before you think about oil, find out what your cavity holds. It takes about ten minutes and a weighing scale (₹354.00).

Step one: water. Stand the mould on the scale, zero it, and fill the cavity with water to where your wax line will be. Read the grams. This is an upper bound, not your answer. Step two: wax. Pour the same cavity with plain melted wax, with no oil or dye, and let it set fully. Demould it and weigh the piece. Wax is lighter than water, so this figure will be lower than the water figure, and it is the one to use. Keep the plain piece as a remelt. Step three: repeat once. Detailed moulds trap air and shrink on setting, and a second wax fill tells you whether your first was typical.

Worked example with an illustrative 100 g wax fill · replace with your own weighed figure
From a weighed cavity to grams of oil
Load (test ladder) Oil Wax Pieces per 100 g bottle Pieces per 15 g tester
6% 6.0 g 94.0 g 16.67 2.50
8% 8.0 g 92.0 g 12.50 1.88
10% 10.0 g 90.0 g 10.00 1.50

Once you have the real wax weight, the table's arithmetic works for any mould. Multiply by the load for oil and subtract for wax. Write the weight on a strip of tape on the mould itself so you never have to guess it again. If you run a range of shapes, keep a one-page sheet of every mould's weighed fill. It becomes the base of every batch plan and every price. For multi-cavity moulds, weigh the whole tray and each cavity separately, because edge cavities are not always the same as centre ones.

Never borrow a cavity weight
It is tempting to take a weight from a similar-looking mould online. Don't. Two rose moulds of the same nominal size can differ a lot in depth and detail. A wrong weight carries straight into a wrong load. If you want to check your figures, send us your weighed fills on WhatsApp and we will run the arithmetic with you.

CSI's silicone moulds for scented candles

CSI's mould range falls into three groups: pillar moulds for cylinders and shaped pillars, decorative moulds for flowers, fruit and figures, and multi-cavity trays mainly used for wax melts. This page covers the first two. Wax-melt trays are covered in the wax melt cluster. Every price below is per mould. None of them has a published cavity weight.

Four decorative moulds were out of stock on the pull date and are not in the table: the Twisted Pillar, Maple Leaf, Mini Pumpkin and Succulent moulds. The 5 × 7 cm size of the Ribbed Pillar Mould was also out. The David Candle Mould (₹3,540.00) had a single unit in stock, so treat it as unavailable for planning a batch. For plain pillars, the Pillar Candle Mould (₹942.82, Tall 11.2 × 6.3 cm or Short 8.6 × 6.5 cm) and Ribbed Pillar Mould (₹1,060.82 and ₹1,414.82) are covered in Best Fragrance Oils for Pillar Candles. Their dimensions are published but their fill weights are not, so weigh them too.

Price per mould matters less than it looks. A ₹295.00 lotus mould that you pour 50 times costs ₹5.90 a piece in mould. A ₹590.00 rose mould spread over the same 50 pours costs ₹11.80 a piece. How many pours a silicone mould survives is not published and depends on your wax, oil, temperature and care, so treat these as illustrations. Track your own count. It is the only way to know your real mould cost per piece.

Scenting and pouring into silicone

The steps below are general candle-making practice for scented silicone-moulded candles. Pour temperatures and cure times depend on your wax, so follow the wax's product page and your own tests for the numbers. We will not invent them here.

1
Prepare the mouldClean and dry it. If the mould has a wick hole, thread the wick and seal the outside with Candle Mold Sealer (₹472.00) so hot wax cannot leak. Stand deep or floppy moulds in a support so the shape does not bulge.
2
Weigh the batch by the mould sheetTotal wax fill for all the cavities you will pour, plus 3–5% for pour loss (a working assumption). Oil = that total × your tested load. Weigh the oil separately.
3
Melt the wax and add oilMelt Soy Pillar Wax or your chosen wax and add the oil at the temperature the wax's product page recommends. Stir gently and fully for an even blend. Add dye now if you use it; dose is not published, so follow the dye's product page.
4
Pour and tapPour steadily into the cavity and tap the mould lightly to lift air bubbles out of the detail. Top up any sink hole once the first pour has set, if the shape needs it.
5
Let it set fully before demouldingPulling too early is the most common cause of torn petals and ears. Flex the silicone away from the wax gradually rather than pushing the piece out.
6
Label and cureWrite the oil, load and date on the base. Cure before you judge the scent, and check the surface with a tissue over the following days for any oil.
Detail shows every problem first. A plain pillar with a slightly oily surface can pass unnoticed. A rose with fine petals will show the same oil as shine in every fold, and it will drag and tear at the thin edges. In general practice this points to more oil than the wax holds comfortably, pulling too early, or a wax too soft for fine detail. Step the load down first, then test a firmer wax. Do not assume a load that works in a plain pillar will work in a detailed mould.
The CSI principle
Weigh, test, then pour the batch.
Every silicone mould is its own recipe. Its weight sets the oil, and its detail sets how much oil the wax can hold before the finish suffers. Pour one piece per load before you pour twenty.

Looking after the mould

A silicone mould is a tool that wears. Fragrance oil and hot wax are what wear it.

In general candle-making practice, silicone moulds can lose their gloss, become slightly tacky or lose fine detail after many pours of scented wax. Some makers find certain oils age a mould faster than others. CSI publishes no mould-life data and no oil-by-oil silicone compatibility, so we cannot tell you how many pours to expect. What you can do is slow the wear and notice it early.

Let the mould cool fully between pours rather than refilling it hot. Wipe it with a soft cloth; do not scrub the detail. Store it flat and uncompressed, away from sunlight. If you run several scents, consider keeping one mould per scent family. That stops a strong spice carrying into a delicate floral and lets you see if one oil ages a mould faster. When the gloss on your pieces fades or petals start to tear where they did not before, the mould is telling you it is near the end. That is when to retire it, before it costs you a batch.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. We sell moulds, and the simplest advice for us would be "buy a new one every season". You do not need to. Look after a mould and track its pours, and it tells you when it is done. Buy a second of the same mould when you need to pour faster, not because a number on a page said so. And if one oil visibly dulls your moulds much faster than the others, that is a reason to reconsider the oil, not to keep replacing moulds.

Cost per silicone-moulded piece

Decorative pieces come in every size, so we price three illustrative weights: 60 g, 100 g and 150 g. All are at an 8% working load, in Soy Pillar Wax at ₹0.60 a gram. Each includes one braided wick at ₹12.00 as a costing placeholder, because wick size is not published and some decorative pieces are sold unwicked. Oils are priced at their 100 g rate.

8% load · oil at 100 g rates · excludes mould, dye, labour, packaging, freight and GST
Material cost per piece, three weights, three oils
Piece Oil + wax Wax + wick Japanese Cherry Blossom Orchard Pear Peach Melon Berry
60 g (illustrative) 4.8 g + 55.2 g ₹45.12 ₹69.12 ₹63.36 ₹65.17
100 g (illustrative) 8.0 g + 92.0 g ₹67.20 ₹107.20 ₹97.60 ₹100.62
150 g (illustrative) 12.0 g + 138.0 g ₹94.80 ₹154.80 ₹140.40 ₹144.93

A 100 g bottle covers 60 g: 20.83 pieces, 100 g: 12.50 pieces or 150 g: 8.33 pieces at 8%. If you sell a piece unwicked, as a décor or fragrance object, take ₹12.00 off each figure. Add your mould cost per piece from your own pour count: ₹590.00 across 25, 50 or 100 pours is ₹23.60, ₹11.80 or ₹5.90 a piece. Pour counts are illustrative. For a range of shapes sold together, Wholesale Fragrance Oils for Decorative Candle Makers costs a wholesale decorative order, and Where to Buy Fragrance Oils for Commercial Decorative Candle Production covers commercial sourcing.

A mould has no fill weight until you weigh it. Then it has a recipe.

Three oils to start silicone-mould work with

These three are chosen for silicone decorative work for stated reasons: a floral that matches flower moulds, a fruit that matches fruit shapes, and a low-cost blend for practising technique. They are not ranked by throw, and we have not published pillar-wax or silicone compatibility for any oil. Test each one in your wax and mould. Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We sell the moulds on this page, and it would be easy to print cavity weights that make our moulds look generous. We do not publish them because we have not measured them. Instead this page shows you how to weigh your own, and tells you not to replace a mould until your pieces show that it is worn.

Oil and wax prices are CSI live pricing, pulled on 24 September 2026. Mould, sealer, dye and mica prices come from the 24–25 September 2026 catalogue pull, and wick and tool prices from Blog 760's figures verified on 10 September 2026, rechecked on 25 September. Out-of-stock moulds are named, not priced as buyable. Per-piece costs are plain arithmetic, shown to two decimals.

The 60 g, 100 g and 150 g pieces and the 100 g worked example are illustrative, not cavity weights. The 6/8/10% steps are a labelled test ladder, since no pillar-wax ceiling is published. Mould wear, release and sweating are general candle-making practice, not measured CSI results. For help with your own figures, or a quote, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

How much fragrance oil do I put in a silicone mould candle?
Weigh a plain wax fill of the cavity first, then multiply by your load. For an illustrative 100 g piece at 8%, that is 8 g of oil and 92 g of wax. No ceiling is published for CSI's pillar wax, so test 6%, 8% and 10%, labelled, and never go above 13%.
How do I calculate wax for a silicone mould?
Fill the cavity with water and weigh it for a rough upper bound. Then pour plain melted wax, let it set and weigh the piece. Wax is lighter than water, so the wax figure is the one to use. CSI does not publish cavity weights for its moulds.
Does fragrance oil ruin silicone moulds?
In general practice, scented wax and heat wear silicone slowly: gloss fades, the surface can turn tacky and fine detail softens. CSI publishes no mould-life figure. Let moulds cool between pours, clean them gently, and retire one when your pieces start to tear or lose shine.
Why is my candle sticking in the silicone mould?
Common causes in general practice are demoulding before the wax has fully set, more oil than the wax holds comfortably, or a wax that is too soft for fine detail. Wait longer first, then step the load down, then try a firmer wax. Change one at a time.
What is the best wax for silicone mould candles?
CSI's Soy Pillar Wax is made for pillar and designer candles, at ₹600.00 a kilo. Beeswax Pellets (₹800.00 a kilo) and Fully Refined Paraffin (₹354.00 a kilo) are the other common choices. Test your oil in the wax you choose.
Which fragrance is best for flower-shaped candles?
Florals that match the shape are the natural start, such as Japanese Cherry Blossom for cherry blossom and sunflower moulds, or a rose for the Big Rose Mould. We have not published throw data, so test them. Best Fragrance Oils for Moulded Candles pairs each CSI mould with oils worth trying.

Oil = piece weight × load; 8% is the working load, and 6% and 10% are labelled test points. No fragrance ceiling is published for Soy Pillar Wax, beeswax or paraffin; 13% is never exceeded. One braided wick at ₹12.00 is a costing placeholder. Mould cost per piece uses illustrative pour counts of 25, 50 and 100; mould life is not published. The 3–5% loss allowance is a working assumption. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November. Prices and availability change — the linked product pages are always authoritative.
