The second ₹10,000.00 does not make your candle cheaper. It makes it a range, and it makes the wick something you know rather than hope.

A ₹20,000.00 start priced pack by pack from live CSI stock — and honest that the extra money buys range and time, not a lower cost per candle.
₹17,105.22
spent at CSI out of ₹20,000.00 · 80 candles a month across four products · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What does ₹20,000.00 buy? ₹17,105.22 of CSI stock — ₹5,074.00 of wax, ₹3,013.00 of fragrance in two scents, ₹2,749.40 of vessels in two sizes, ₹1,062.00 of wicks in both sizes and ₹5,206.82 of tools — plus ₹2,894.78 held back for costs CSI does not sell.

How many candles is that? 80 a month: 45 at a 150 g fill and 35 at 70 g, across two scents, with a 10% spare allowance on jars (an assumption, not measured data).

Does my cost per candle fall? No. Wax stays ₹507.40/kg, jars ₹29.50 each and wicks ₹5.90 and ₹9.44 at every pack size in this range. The one line that improves with depth is fragrance — and only at 1 kg.

What does each candle cost? ₹156.61 and ₹152.46 for the two 150 g jars, ₹94.45 and ₹92.51 for the two 70 g votives, in CSI materials at an 8% load. Labels, boxes and courier are your own figures.
The short answer
The basket: 10 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 1,000 g of fragrance across British Rose and Citrus Lemon, 90 vessels in two sizes, 150 Eco Candle Wicks in both sizes and a ten-item tool set — ₹17,105.22 at live September 2026 prices.
The output: 80 candles a month across four products, at ₹156.61 to ₹92.51 of CSI materials each, with 800 g of wax and 264 g of oil carried into month two.
The honest part: The extra ₹10,000.00 buys range, a tested wick and a melter — not a discount. Every unit rate here is identical to the one a ₹10,000.00 buyer pays, and ₹2,894.78 stays unspent for labels, packaging and courier.
Two sizes by two scents: the four candle products a twenty thousand rupee basket supports, with monthly quantities and materials cost each What the second ten thousand buys: a rangeTwo sizes × two scents = four products from one basket80 candles a month · ₹10,231.16 of CSI materialsBritish RoseCitrus Lemon150 g jar25 candles a month₹156.61 of CSI materials each150 g jar20 candles a month₹152.46 of CSI materials each70 g votive15 candles a month₹94.45 of CSI materials each70 g votive20 candles a month₹92.51 of CSI materials eachAt ten thousand the same basket is one size, one scent, one wick.
What it shows: the four products a ₹20,000.00 basket supports — two fill sizes across two scents — with the monthly quantity and CSI materials cost of each, totalling 80 candles and ₹10,231.16 of materials. Deliberately left out: labels, packaging, courier, electricity and labour, which CSI does not sell and this page never estimates, and the selling price, which is your decision.
Straight answer
What can you actually start a candle business with for ₹20,000.00 in India?
A two-size, two-scent soy candle line that pours 80 candles a month, with tools you buy once. At live September 2026 prices the CSI side is ₹17,105.22: ₹5,074.00 for 10 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40/kg, ₹3,013.00 for 500 g each of British Rose and Citrus Lemon, ₹2,749.40 for 50 200 ml salsa jars and 40 70 g votives, ₹1,062.00 for 100 Thin (C1) and 50 Thick (C2) Eco Candle Wicks, and ₹5,206.82 for a ten-item tool set built round the 1 litre Mini Electric Wax Melter and a Pen Thermometer. That leaves ₹2,894.78 — 14.5% of the budget — deliberately unspent, because printed labels, cartons, mailers, courier, electricity, your hours and platform fees are not things CSI sells. Materials work out at ₹156.61 and ₹152.46 for the two 150 g jars and ₹94.45 and ₹92.51 for the two votives at an 8% load, a step inside the 10% maximum CSI 464's page states. The honest point about this budget: the extra ₹10,000.00 over a minimum start buys a second scent, a second size, a second wick size you can actually test and a melter — but not a better rate, because wax, jars and wicks cost the same per unit at every pack size you will touch here.
One line: ₹20,000.00 buys ₹17,105.22 of CSI stock — four products, 80 candles a month — and buys capability rather than a discount, because the unit rates do not move at this scale.
The basket in one line. 10 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, two 500 g fragrance packs, 90 vessels in two sizes, 150 Eco Candle Wicks across both sizes and a ten-item tool set built around the 1 litre Mini Electric Wax Melter comes to ₹17,105.22 — 85.5% of ₹20,000.00, leaving ₹2,894.78 for the costs CSI does not sell.

What the second ₹10,000.00 actually buys

Doubling the budget does not buy a cheaper candle. It buys a range, a tested wick and your evenings back.

A ₹10,000.00 candle start is one wax, one scent, one vessel size, one wick size and a pan of water on the hob. It works, and plenty of Indian brands began exactly there. What it cannot do is offer a customer a choice, prove a wick size by testing rather than hoping, or pour a batch without occupying the kitchen for an afternoon. That is what the second ₹10,000.00 is for.

Here is the honest headline before the detail: at ₹20,000.00 you are still buying at the same unit rates as at ₹10,000.00. CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg whether you buy 1 kg, 5 kg or 10 kg. The 200 ml Salsa jar is ₹29.50 each in the 50-pack and ₹29.50 each in the 100-pack. Eco Candle Wicks are ₹5.90 and ₹9.44 each at every pack size. Nothing about a bigger order lowers your cost per candle here. The step buys capability, not a discount.

The step
Six ways to spend the second ₹10,000.00, ranked by what they change
Upgrade Cost What it changes Buy it when
A second wick size, bought to be tested ₹767.00 You stop guessing. 50 Thick (C2) at ₹9.44 and 50 more Thin (C1) at ₹5.90 let you burn four jars of each in your real vessel First. Everything else depends on the candle burning properly
A second scent ₹1,420.00 A customer gets a choice, and one slow scent no longer stalls the month. Citrus Lemon 500 gm at ₹2.84/g First month. Two is the smallest range that reads as a brand
A second size ₹1,274.40 40 × 70 g votives at ₹31.86 each give you a gifting price and a sampler First month, if you sell at exhibitions or in gift sets
Deeper wax ₹2,029.60 6 kg to 10 kg of CSI 464 at the same ₹507.40/kg — 66 candles of headroom instead of 40 When you have sold a first batch and know the size
A 1 litre melter ₹2,360.00 Melts and holds temperature while you wick, label and clean. It does not improve the candle When pouring weekly and the hob is the bottleneck
Finishing and control ₹377.00 A wick cutter for honest burn tests, more wick stickers so tabs never float Alongside the wick test, not after it
All six ₹8,228.00 One product becomes four, and 40 candles a month becomes 80
Priced above: Eco Candle Wicks Thick (C2) 50-pack ₹472.00 and Thin (C1) 50-pack ₹295.00; Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil 500 gm ₹1,420.00; Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram Pack of 10 ₹318.60 × 4; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 10 kg ₹5,074.00 against 5 kg ₹2,537.00 plus 1 kg ₹507.40; Mini Electric Wax Melter ₹2,360.00; Candle Wick Cutter ₹177.00 and two extra sheets of Candle Wick Stickers at ₹100.00 each.

That order matters. A maker who spends the step on the melter first has a faster way to pour a candle whose wick is still a guess. A maker who spends it on the wick test first has a candle worth pouring faster. The melter is the most visible upgrade on this list and the least important one (the candle tool guide covers what each tool genuinely does).

SPEND THE STEP ON VESSELS INSTEAD, IF YOU SELL GIFTS
There is a legitimate alternative to this whole basket. Put the second ₹10,000.00 into better glass: five packs of Black Matte Glass Jar at ₹708.00 each come to ₹3,540.00 for 50 jars at ₹70.80 each, against ₹29.50 for the clear salsa jar. That is a ₹41.30 step per candle on the single component the customer looks at first. If your channel is corporate gifting or wedding favours rather than everyday retail, that may buy more than a melter does.

The ₹20,000.00 basket, line by line

Every line is a live pack with a whole number against it. Multiply, add, and the total is what you will actually pay.

Materials come to ₹11,898.40 and tools to ₹5,206.82, for ₹17,105.22 at CSI. The remaining ₹2,894.78 — 14.5% of the budget — is not spare money. It is the labels, cartons, mailers, courier and electricity that CSI does not sell and that this page will not invent a number for.

Tools and finishing — ₹5,206.82

Tool set
Ten items, and the honest kitchen substitute for each
Item Price What it does If you skip it
Mini Electric Wax Melter 1 litre ₹2,360.00 Melts and holds 1 litre at temperature while you work A steel vessel in a pan of water; it cools faster and ties up a burner
Pen Thermometer ₹354.00 Reads the 80–90°C fragrance window and the pour window You are guessing at the number that most affects throw
Steel Pouring Pitcher 600 ML ₹708.00 A controlled pour into a 63 mm mouth Wax down the outside of the glass and across the table
Bamboo Stirring Sticks (5) ₹118.00 The two-minute stir after the oil goes in A spoon works, but carries scent from batch to batch
Wick Centering Device ₹118.00 Holds the wick upright and central while the wax sets Off-centre wicks and one-sided burns
Candle Wick Stickers (40) × 4 ₹400.00 Sticks the tab to the base, ₹2.50 a candle Tabs that lift and wicks that drift mid-pour
Candle Care Stickers Roll (500) ₹413.00 Burn-safety sticker on every base, ₹0.83 each You are shipping a flame with no instructions
Isopropyl Alcohol Spray 150 ML ₹383.00 Cleans the glass before pouring and after handling Dust and fingerprints sealed under the wax
Silicone Spatula ₹175.82 Recovers the last wax from the pitcher on every pour You throw away 10–15 g of wax per batch
Candle Wick Cutter ₹177.00 Trims to 5–6 mm before every test burn Long wicks, big flames and unreliable test data
Tools subtotal ₹5,206.82
Priced above: ten live CSI items. Spread across the first 80 candles the tool set adds ₹65.09 a candle; spread across a year at the same output it is ₹5.42. The tools are a one-time buy — month two costs ₹11,898.40, not ₹17,105.22, and less than that once you are reordering only what you used.

One item that is not on the list: a weighing scale. Any 0.1 g kitchen scale weighs wax and oil accurately enough, and most homes already have one. CSI does sell a Candle Making Weighing Scale at ₹354.00 if you want a dedicated one, but it is the easiest line to save on at this budget.

Four products instead of one: what 80 candles a month looks like

Two sizes times two scents is four things to photograph, four things to price and exactly one process.

The basket pours 80 candles a month: 45 at a 150 g fill in the salsa jar and 35 at a 70 g fill in the votive, split across two scents. That uses 9,200 g of the 10 kg of wax and 736 g of the 1,000 g of fragrance, leaving 800 g of wax and 264 g of oil to start month two with. Vessels carry a 10% spare allowance on jars and 12% on votives — an assumption this page makes, not measured data, and it exists because glass arrives chipped and first pours get scrapped.

The range
Four products, what each costs in CSI materials, and how many of each
Product Fill Scent at 8% Wick Vessel CSI materials Per month
Signature jar 150 g British Rose ₹38.23 Thick (C2) ₹9.44 200 ml salsa ₹29.50 ₹156.61 25

Month total 9,200 g of wax 736 g of oil 80 wicks 80 vessels ₹10,231.16 80
Priced above: CSI 464 at ₹507.40/kg (₹76.11 in a 150 g fill, ₹35.52 in a 70 g fill); British Rose 500 gm ₹1,593.00 at ₹3.19/g; Citrus Lemon 500 gm ₹1,420.00 at ₹2.84/g; 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar ₹29.50 each at 50; Clear Glass Votive Jar ₹31.86 each at 10; Eco Candle Wicks ₹5.90 and ₹9.44 each; a wick sticker and a care sticker on every candle at ₹3.33 the pair. Loads are 8% of wax weight — 12 g in a 150 g candle, 5.6 g in a 70 g votive.

The month's materials are ₹10,231.16, against ₹11,898.40 bought — the ₹1,667.24 difference is wax and oil carried forward, not waste. That is the number to hold on to when month two arrives and the order looks alarmingly small: you are only replacing vessels, wicks, stickers and the fragrance you actually poured.

Both jars use the Thick (C2) wick and both votives the Thin (C1), but treat that as the starting hypothesis, not the answer. CSI does not publish a wick size for each jar diameter and no honest supplier can, because fill weight, fragrance load and dye all change how a wick behaves. This basket deliberately buys 100 Thin (C1) wicks for 35 votives: the extra 65 are the testing budget (wick guide by diameter).

The CSI principle
A second product is only a product once it has passed its own burn test.
Four SKUs means four wick decisions and four cure judgements — eight test jars at roughly ₹1,252.86 of materials before a single one is sold.
Festive note. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November 2026. Allowing a 14–21 day cure plus your own labelling and packing time, a festive run wants to be poured by about mid-October, which puts the wax and oil order in early October. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 10 kg is ₹5,074.00; a second Citrus Lemon 500 gm pack is ₹1,420.00.

What does not get cheaper at ₹20,000.00

Most of this catalogue has one rate. Doubling the order does not move it.

New businesses assume that a bigger budget unlocks a better rate, and on this catalogue it mostly does not. The table below is every line in the basket, at the pack a ₹10,000.00 buyer takes and the pack a ₹20,000.00 buyer takes, with the unit rate for each.

Clear Glass Votive Jar Pack of 5 ₹159.30 ₹31.86 each Pack of 10 ₹318.60 ₹31.86 each None
Priced above: live CSI variants, September 2026. Fragrance is the one family where buying deeper genuinely lowers the rate: British Rose runs ₹3.42/g at 100 gm, ₹3.19/g at 500 gm and ₹3.07/g at 1 kg (₹3,068.00).
Buying a 1 kg fragrance pack at this volume to chase the rate. The saving is real but small: British Rose at 1 kg is ₹3.07/g against ₹3.19/g at 500 gm, which is ₹1.42 on a 150 g candle and ₹113.28 across a whole 80-candle month. The 1 kg pack at ₹3,068.00 is also more than double a month's use of that scent, so the rate saving buys you a bottle that sits through an Indian summer. Buy 1 kg of a scent when you are pouring it every month, not to save ₹1.42 a candle.
Spending the whole ₹20,000.00 at the supplier because the supplier publishes prices. Raw materials are the easiest thing to quote and the easiest to over-buy. Every rupee that goes into a third scent is a rupee not available for the labels and mailers your candles cannot ship without. Decide the holdback before you fill the cart — ₹2,894.78 here — and treat it as already spent.

There is one more rate worth knowing about even though this basket does not touch it. Performance Wooden Wicks fall from ₹59.00 each in the pack of 10 to ₹47.20 each in the pack of 50 (₹2,360.00) — a genuine break, but on a wick that is still six to eight times the price of a cotton one. That is a premium-line decision for later, not a saving.

Pouring 80 a month without taking over the house

Two pour days a month, a fortnight of cure, and a shelf you are not allowed to touch.

At this size the constraint is not the wax or the money. It is space and patience: every candle you pour has to sit somewhere undisturbed for a fortnight before it is worth selling. Two pour days a fortnight apart keeps the cure shelf turning over and stops you shipping a candle whose scent has not finished developing (why a candle needs a 14-day cure).

1
Pour day one · 23 jars and a wick testClean and lay out the glass with isopropyl alcohol spray, stick the tabs, and melt 4 kg in the melter. Weigh the oil as 8% of wax weight, add it inside the 80–90°C window, stir a full two minutes, pour, centre the wicks. Pour four extra jars with the Thin (C1) wick alongside your Thick (C2) jars — that is the test that tells you which wick this jar actually wants.
2
Day 2 · The first honest lookCheck tops, adhesion and wick position. Burn the four test jars for three to four hours each with the wick trimmed to 5–6 mm using the wick cutter and note which reaches the glass without a shaft and without a flame that dances. Do not judge scent yet — soy throw is still developing, and a candle judged at day two gets reformulated for no reason.
3
Pour day two · the votives and the second scentTwo weeks later, pour the 35 votives and the Citrus Lemon jars. By now the first batch is at day 14, so judge those for scent on the same afternoon: light one in a closed room, come back after twenty minutes, and decide whether the load is right before you commit the next month (testing hot throw before launch).
4
Weekly · reorder against the shelf, not against the calendarReorder wax below 3 kg, the scent you are pouring below 200 g, vessels below one pour day's worth. A top-up of a 5 kg wax pack, a 500 gm oil pack, a 50-pack of jars and a 50-pack of wicks is ₹6,077.00 — much less than the first order, because the tools are already bought.

What it shows: the four products this basket supports — two fill sizes across two scents — with the monthly quantity and the CSI materials cost of each. Deliberately left out: your label, packaging, courier, electricity and labour, which CSI does not sell and this page does not estimate, and any selling price, which is your decision.
A bigger budget is only useful if it buys something you can prove — a tested wick, a second scent that sells, an hour you get back.

The rows CSI cannot price — and why ₹2,894.78 stays unspent

A supplier can price what it sells. Everything else in your costing is your own quote, or a guess wearing a rupee sign.

CSI sells wax, fragrance oils, wicks, vessels, dyes, finishing supplies and tools. It does not sell printed labels, outer cartons, mailers, bubble wrap, ribbon, courier services, electricity, your hours, a website plan or an advertising budget — so none of them gets a number on this page, not even a typical one. A typical mailer cost for a maker shipping 150 g jars from Kolkata is nothing like a typical one for someone handing candles over at a Pune exhibition stall.

Your own total Add this to the CSI column before you price anything up to ₹2,894.78

Total the page honestly: ₹17,105.22 of CSI materials and tools, plus your own column. If your quotes come to more than ₹2,894.78, shrink the basket rather than pretending the rows are free. Dropping the melter releases ₹2,360.00; dropping the second size releases ₹1,274.40; moving the 150 g line from glass to 85 gram tin containers at ₹70.80 each changes both the vessel cost and the parcel weight your courier charges on.

For the record, this is also why the page does not quote you a wholesale rate. Bulk pricing exists and is handled on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 — along with GST invoicing and MSDS or IFRA documentation — but it is not published, so it is not used in any arithmetic here.

Where ₹20,000.00 should not go, and what to buy next

The expensive mistakes at this level are all bought with good intentions.

Three things swallow a ₹20,000.00 budget without improving a single candle. The first is a big melter: the imported 10 kg Electric Wax Melter at ₹21,240.00 is 106% of this entire budget, and it is the right machine at four or five times this output, not at 80 candles a month. The second is range: a fourth and fifth scent at ₹1,890.00 and ₹2,620.00 a pack means five things to test, photograph and store while none of them has proven it sells. The third is finishing flourishes — lacquers, decorative extras, a dye in every colour at ₹236.00 for 15 gm — bought before the burn is right.

2 More vessels in the size that sold — a second 50-pack ₹1,475.00 Vessels cap your output before wax does, and the rate is already at its floor
3 A premium vessel or wick for a gifting line — Black Matte Glass or wooden wicks ₹708.00 / ₹590.00 A third price point, once two are selling. It is a positioning purchase, not a cost saving
Priced above: British Rose 1 kg ₹3,068.00 (₹3.07/g); 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar 50 Pcs ₹1,475.00; Black Matte Glass Jar Pack of 10 ₹708.00; Performance Wooden Wicks Pack of 10 ₹590.00, Pack of 50 ₹2,360.00.

Against an illustrative ₹550.00 for the 150 g jar and ₹250.00 for the votive — illustrative figures used only to show the shape of the arithmetic — a full month of 80 candles is ₹33,500.00 of revenue and ₹23,268.84 over CSI materials. Your labels, packaging, courier, electricity, hours and platform fees all come out of that second number before anything is profit, which is exactly why they get their own column (the pricing calculator guide works the same arithmetic from the price end).

If you are running this from a flat, the home candle business guide covers space, storage and ventilation, and buying everything from one supplier covers what consolidating an order does and does not save. And if the next question is whether to go to a larger budget, the honest answer from this catalogue is that the extra money buys more of the same packs at the same rates, plus deeper fragrance — so it is worth going up a level only when you have somewhere to sell the extra candles.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials — wax, fragrance oils, wicks, vessels and tools — not finished candles, and not the labels, cartons, courier or marketing a candle business also needs. This page says something that costs us sales: at ₹20,000.00 you should not spend ₹20,000.00 with us. The basket stops at ₹17,105.22 and the remaining ₹2,894.78 is left as blank rows, and the ranked list of upgrades deliberately puts a ₹767.00 wick test above a ₹2,360.00 melter, because the cheaper purchase is the one that makes the candle work.

Every price on this page is a live CSI variant price in September 2026, multiplied by whole packs and totalled in Python rather than estimated; per-gram and per-unit rates are derived from those same pack prices. The 10% fragrance ceiling for CSI 464 and the 80–90°C fragrance-addition window are stated on CSI product pages. The 10% spare allowance on jars, the 8% working load, the 80-candle month, the 14–21 day cure and the illustrative selling prices of ₹550.00 and ₹250.00 are assumptions or general practice and are labelled as such. Where something is not published — a wick size for a given jar diameter, a bulk rate, a delivery time — this page says so rather than filling the gap.

For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, MSDS or IFRA documentation, or a second opinion on a ₹20,000.00 basket before you place it, message CSI on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 with your vessel size, monthly target and the scents you are considering.

Frequently asked questions

Is ₹20,000.00 enough to start a candle business in India?
Yes — for a four-product line of about 80 candles a month. The CSI side is ₹17,105.22 at September 2026 prices (₹11,898.40 of materials and ₹5,206.82 of tools), and it leaves ₹2,894.78 for labels, cartons, courier and your own hours, which CSI does not sell and this page will not estimate.
What does the second ₹10,000.00 buy that the first one did not?
A second scent (₹1,420.00), a second size (₹1,274.40), a second wick size bought so it can be tested (₹767.00), 4 kg more wax at the same rate (₹2,029.60), a 1 litre melter (₹2,360.00) and better finishing (₹377.00). What it does not buy is a lower cost per candle — every unit rate in this basket is the same as at ₹10,000.00.
How many candles can I make?
80 a month on this basket: 45 at a 150 g fill and 35 at 70 g, from 90 vessels with a 10% spare allowance on jars. That uses 9,200 g of wax and 736 g of oil, so 800 g of wax and 264 g of oil carry into month two. Output is capped by vessels, not by wax.
What does each candle cost to make?
At an 8% fragrance load and this basket's pack rates: ₹156.61 for the 150 g British Rose jar, ₹152.46 for the Citrus Lemon jar, ₹94.45 and ₹92.51 for the two votives. That is CSI materials only — labels, packaging, courier, electricity and your labour are your own figures.
Should I buy the wax melter or spend the money on materials?
Buy the wick test first, the second scent second and the melter third. The 1 litre Mini Electric Wax Melter at ₹2,360.00 is 12% of the budget and buys steadier temperature and a free hob — not a better candle. A steel vessel in a pan of water melts soy perfectly well, provided you still own a Pen Thermometer at ₹354.00.
Is it better to buy two scents or one scent in a bigger pack?
At this volume, two scents. Moving British Rose from the 500 gm pack at ₹3.19/g to the 1 kg pack at ₹3.07/g saves ₹1.42 per 150 g candle — ₹113.28 across the whole month — while a second scent gives every customer a choice and stops one slow fragrance stalling a month of production.

About this guide: Written by the CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA team. The method applies to any supplier: write every line as a pack with a whole number against it, check whether the unit rate actually falls at the next pack up before you buy it, spend on the test that de-risks the candle before the machine that speeds it up, and keep the costs your supplier does not sell in a column of their own.
