Bulk is not a strategy. It is a per-gram rate that falls on some lines and stays flat on others — here is which.

A ₹50,000.00 start, priced pack by pack — including the four lines where buying bigger saves you nothing at all.
₹45,703.20
spent at CSI out of ₹50,000.00 · 180 candles a month across three sizes · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What does ₹50,000.00 buy? ₹45,703.20 of CSI stock — 30 kg of wax, 2,400 g of fragrance across five scents, 200 vessels, 220 wicks and eleven pieces of equipment — with ₹4,296.80 held back for costs CSI does not sell.

How many candles a month? 180: 72 × 150 g jars, 54 × 85 g tins and 54 × 70 g votives, at ₹219.97, ₹107.93 and ₹93.28 of materials each.

Where does buying bigger actually pay? Fragrance oil (−28% per gram from 50 gm to 1 kg), wooden wicks (−30%), tea lights, stirring sticks and stickers. Not on CSI 464 wax or Eco wicks — those rates are flat at every pack size.

How much backup stock? 1.6 months of wax, 1.6 months of fragrance, and only a 10% spare allowance on vessels and wicks — because oil is the line with a cure behind it.
The short answer
The basket: 30 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 2,400 g of fragrance across five scents, 200 vessels in three sizes, 220 Eco Candle Wicks and eleven pieces of equipment — ₹45,703.20 at live September 2026 prices.
The lesson: Upsize oils, wooden wicks, tea lights, stirring sticks and stickers; do not upsize CSI 464, Eco wicks, the 150 g glass jar or braided wicks — those rates do not move.
The honest part: ₹4,296.80 stays unspent here. Labels, cartons, courier, electricity, hours and platform fees are real costs, and no supplier can quote them for you.

Unit rates at CSI's smallest and largest pack for the same product, September 2026. The top group rewards buying deeper; the bottom group charges the same rate at every pack size, so the only reason to buy a big pack there is fewer parcels and less reordering. Rates are pack price divided by grams or units; no unpublished bulk rate is assumed.
Straight answer
What can you start a candle business with for ₹50,000.00 in India, and where does the extra money actually go?
Into depth, not into more of everything. At live September 2026 prices a ₹50,000.00 start buys ₹45,703.20 of CSI stock: ₹15,222.00 for 30 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, ₹8,903.60 for 2,400 g of fragrance across five scents, ₹11,263.60 for 200 vessels in three sizes, ₹1,652.00 for 220 Eco Candle Wicks, ₹1,199.00 of finishing stickers and ₹7,463.00 for an eleven-item equipment set — with ₹4,296.80 held back for labels, cartons, courier, electricity, labour and platform fees, none of which CSI sells. It pours 180 candles a month at ₹219.97, ₹107.93 and ₹93.28 of materials each. The decision that separates this budget from a smaller one is which packs to size up: British Rose drops 28% per gram from the 50 gm pack to the 1 kg pack, wooden wicks drop 30% from 10 to 100, and care stickers drop 15% from 500 to 1000 — while CSI 464 stays at ₹507.40/kg and an Eco Thick (C2) wick stays at ₹9.44 no matter how many you buy. Go deep on the two scents that have already sold, shallow on the three on trial, hold 1.6 months of oil and only a 10% spare allowance on glass.
One line: ₹50,000.00 buys ₹45,703.20 of CSI stock for 180 candles a month — and the money is best spent going deep on fragrance, where the rate falls 28%, rather than on wax and wicks, where it does not fall at all.
The basket in one line. 30 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 2,400 g of fragrance across five scents, 200 vessels in three sizes, 220 Eco Candle Wicks and an eleven-item equipment set come to ₹45,703.20 — 91.4% of ₹50,000.00, with ₹4,296.80 held back for costs CSI does not sell.

What ₹50,000.00 buys, and what changes at this level

At this budget the question stops being what you can afford and starts being which packs are worth going up a size on.

₹50,000.00 buys a five-scent, three-size soy line producing 180 candles a month, an eleven-item equipment set, and — the part that matters most — enough depth in the right lines to change your cost per candle. The CSI side totals ₹45,703.20: ₹15,222.00 of wax, ₹8,903.60 of fragrance oil, ₹11,263.60 of vessels, ₹1,652.00 of wicks, ₹1,199.00 of finishing stickers and ₹7,463.00 of equipment. ₹4,296.80 stays unspent, because printed labels, outer boxes, courier, electricity, labour and platform fees are not things a raw-material supplier can quote for you.

The three things this level adds, in order of how much they matter: bulk packs on the lines where the rate actually falls — mostly fragrance oil; a wider scent range, five instead of the two or three a smaller basket supports; and backup stock, so a scent selling out on a Friday does not stop production on Monday. It buys 1.6 months of wax cover and 1.6 months of oil cover at the output above.

Where bulk actually pays on this catalogue — and where it does not

Bulk is not a principle. It is a per-unit rate you check, line by line, before you tie up cash.

Most advice about a ₹50,000.00 start says "buy in bulk" as if every line rewards it. On CSI's live pricing it does not. Fragrance oil rewards it heavily — British Rose falls from ₹4.25/g in the 50 gm pack to ₹3.07/g in the 1 kg pack, 28% less per gram. Performance Wooden Wicks fall from ₹59.00 each to ₹41.30 each between the 10-pack and the 100-pack, 30% less. But soy wax and Eco wicks do not move at all: CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg whether you buy 1 kg or 10 kg, and an Eco Thick (C2) wick is ₹9.44 whether you buy 20 or 1,000.

Wax Melts Containers Pack of 5 → Pack of 100 ₹29.50 ₹29.50 no change
Priced above: every rate is a live variant price divided by the grams or units in that pack — ₹5.43/g is Citrus Lemon 15 gm at ₹81.42; ₹2.84/g is the 500 gm pack at ₹1,420.00. Wooden wicks: ₹590.00 for 10 and ₹4,130.00 for 100. Tea lights: ₹94.40 for 10 and ₹3,009.00 for 500. Stirring sticks: ₹118.00 for 5 and ₹1,888.00 for 100. Mini Glass Jars: ₹129.80 for 5 and ₹2,124.00 for 100. Care stickers: ₹413.00 for 500 and ₹699.00 for 1000. CSI 464: ₹507.40 for 1 kg and ₹5,074.00 for 10 kg — ₹0.00 difference across ten kilos, which is to say none.

What that does to the basket. Buying British Rose as a 1 kg pack instead of 50 gm packs saves ₹14.16 on every 150 g candle, or ₹1,019.52 across the 72 candles this month pours in that scent. Against the 500 gm pack the saving is smaller — ₹1.42 a candle, ₹101.95 a month — which is exactly why the two proven scents go deep and the three on trial do not. On the flat lines there is nothing to chase: buy the pack that matches the run and keep the cash.

One more honest line. CSI publishes no quantity discount beyond the pack prices you can see, and this page will not imply one. If you want a rate on a consignment larger than the biggest listed pack — more than 10 kg of CSI 464 in one go, for instance — that is a WhatsApp conversation, not a published number. The same applies to freight: there is no published delivery cost here, so it stays a blank row in your costing (buying fragrance oils in bulk, the wholesale buyers guide).

CHECK THE RATE, NOT THE PACK LABEL
Before every reorder, divide the pack price by the grams or units in it and compare. It takes thirty seconds and it is the only thing that tells you whether the bigger pack is a saving or just a bigger number. On this catalogue the answer is yes for oils, wooden wicks, tea lights, stirring sticks, mini jars and stickers — and no for CSI 464, Eco wicks, the 150 g glass jar, braided wicks and wax-melt containers.
Upsizing the wax because "bulk is cheaper". Ten 1 kg packs of CSI 464 cost ₹5,074.00 and one 10 kg pack costs ₹5,074.00 — a difference of ₹0.00. You buy the 10 kg pack for the single parcel and the shelf space, not for a discount, and there is no reason at all to buy 40 kg when you will pour 19 kg. Wax that sits is cash that sits; CSI 464's page gives a 60-month shelf life in cool, dry storage, which is a reason not to panic about a small surplus and not a reason to create a large one.

Eleven items, bought once. The theme at this level is not power but parallelism: two pouring pitchers mean two scents in one melt cycle, and that single change does more for your production rhythm than a bigger melter would.

Equipment
What each item is for at 180 candles a month
Item Qty Price What it earns you
Mini Electric Wax Melter 1 litre 1 ₹2,360.00 Holds the wax at temperature while you wick, pour and label
Steel Pouring Pitcher 600 ML 2 ₹1,416.00 Two scents per melt cycle; no cross-contamination
Bamboo Stirring Sticks Pack of 50 ₹1,062.00 A fresh stick per scent, ₹23.60 down to ₹21.24 each
Pen Thermometer 1 ₹354.00 The 80–90°C add window, read rather than guessed
Candle Making Weighing Scale 1 ₹354.00 Weighs wax and oil; any 0.1 g kitchen scale does the same, and stock on this one moves
Wick Centering Device 2 packs ₹236.00 Ten jars setting at once with upright wicks
Wick Setting Tool 1 ₹399.00 Presses the tab flat at the base of a deep jar
Isopropyl Alcohol Spray 1 Litre 1 ₹520.00 Cleaning 200 vessels a month; ₹383.00 buys only 150 ML
CSI Pro Mixer 1 ₹349.00 Even dispersion of dye and oil in a 600 ML pitcher
Steel Scraper 1 ₹236.00 Wax off the melter wall and back into the batch
Candle Wick Cutter 1 ₹177.00 Trims to 5–6 mm before every test burn
Equipment subtotal ₹7,463.00
Priced above: eleven live CSI items totalling ₹7,463.00. Spread across a year at 180 candles a month that is ₹3.46 a candle. Deliberately not in this basket: the Wax Pouring Funnel at ₹1,888.00 and the imported Electric Wax Melter at ₹21,240.00 for the 10 kg model — both are good, both are for a bigger month than this one.

Five scents, three sizes: what the wider range is for

A wider range is not more choice for the customer. It is more chances for you to find out what sells.

Five scents is the point at which a range starts covering families rather than moods: a floral (British Rose), a gourmand (Roasted Coffee), a woody (Woody Oud), a herbal (Lavender) and a citrus (Citrus Lemon). Two are bought deep because they have already sold; three are bought shallow because they have not. That asymmetry is the whole strategy — it is also why the oil line is 17.8% of the budget rather than a flat fifth per scent (floral against gourmand on margin).

Scent and size plan
What each oil covers, and which size it goes into
Oil Pack Rate Grams Wax covered at 8% Goes into
British Rose 1 kg ₹3,068.00 ₹3.07/g 1,000 g 12.5 kg 150 g jars — the lead product
Roasted Coffee 500 gm ₹1,890.00 ₹3.78/g 500 g 6.25 kg 85 g tins — gifting and travel
Woody Oud 500 gm ₹2,265.60 ₹4.53/g 500 g 6.25 kg 150 g jars — the premium shelf
Lavender 2 × 100 gm ₹1,080.00 ₹5.40/g 200 g 2.5 kg 70 g votives — samplers
Citrus Lemon 2 × 100 gm ₹600.00 ₹3.00/g 200 g 2.5 kg 70 g votives and tins
Priced above: ₹3,068.00, ₹1,890.00, ₹2,265.60, ₹540.00 × 2 and ₹300.00 × 2 — ₹8,903.60 for 2,400 g. The month consumes 1,533.6 g at 8% of wax weight, so 866.4 g stays as backup. All loads here are 8% of wax weight: 12 g in a 150 g candle, 6.8 g in an 85 g tin, 5.6 g in a 70 g votive.

Loads and ceilings, stated once. CSI 464's page gives a maximum of 10% of total wax weight; CSI oil pages commonly state a candle usage range such as 6–10%. Where the two differ, the lower figure governs. Every costing on this page sits at 8%, a deliberate step inside both. Do not treat a wider range as licence to push loads — five scents at 8% that you have burn-tested are worth more than five at 10% that you have not (smelling strong without exceeding the load).

Three sizes, two wick types. The 150 g glass jar takes the Thick (C2) at ₹9.44; the 85 g tin and the 70 g votive take the Thin (C1) at ₹5.90. CSI does not publish a wick size against each vessel diameter, so those are starting points to test, not specifications — and a tin conducts heat very differently from glass, so it deserves its own burn test even at a similar diameter (the wick guide by diameter). A Performance Wooden Wick line at ₹41.30 each in the 100-pack is the obvious fourth product once one of the five scents is clearly winning.

The CSI principle
Go deep on what has sold. Go wide on what has not.
Two scents at 1 kg and 500 gm, three at 100 gm: ₹8,903.60 that matches what you know. Five scents bought equally deep would cost more and teach you the same thing a month later.
Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November 2026. Festive stock needs a 14–21 day cure plus dispatch, so a production pour by about mid-October is the deadline that matters. At 180 candles a month, one October run is your entire festive stock — order the deep fragrance packs in September, not in the last week of October. Backup stock: what to hold, and what not to

Backup stock is insurance with a carrying cost. Hold it on the lines that stop production, not on the lines that are easy to replace.

This basket buys 30,000 g of wax against 19,170 g of monthly use — 1.6 months of cover — and 2,400 g of oil against 1,533.6 g, which is 1.6 months. Vessels and wicks are bought to a 10% spare allowance and nothing more. That is deliberate, and the reasoning is worth spelling out because it is the opposite of what most budget lists do.

Cover by line
How deep to hold each line, and why
Line Bought Used in a month Cover Reasoning
Wax 30,000 g 19,170 g 1.6 months 60-month shelf life stated on the CSI 464 page, cool and dry; no rate penalty for buying it in 10 kg
Fragrance oil 2,400 g 1,533.6 g 1.6 months Longest effective lead time: a new scent needs a test pour and a cure before it can be sold
Vessels 200 180 10% spare Heavy, breakable and the line that stops a pour dead — but also the line that ties up the most cash
Wicks 220 180 10% spare Cheap, light and flat-rated; hold a working spare and no more
Care and wick stickers 1,000 / 200 180 / 180 months Bought at the better rate because they do not age and take no space

The asymmetry is about how long it takes to turn stock into a sellable candle, not about what runs out first. A vessel that arrives on Tuesday can be poured on Tuesday. A fragrance that arrives on Tuesday is poured on Tuesday, cured for 14–21 days and sellable in November (why a candle needs a 14-day cure). That is why oil gets 1.6 months of cover and jars get a 10% spare allowance — the spare allowance itself is an assumption this page makes, not measured data.

Holding backup in vessels instead of fragrance. Two extra jar packs is ₹1,888.00 of glass sitting in a cupboard where a monsoon in Kochi or a 44°C afternoon in Nagpur does it no favours, and it protects you against nothing that a reorder would not fix. The same money in a deeper fragrance pack lowers the cost of every candle in that scent and protects the one thing you cannot rush: cure time. Hold cash and oil; reorder glass.

A note on breakage, honestly. A customer review of the tin containers at the top of this page mentions dents on some units and a lid that is tight to open — the kind of thing a 10% spare allowance exists for. Check a vessel delivery on arrival, not on pour day, and keep the rejects to test wicks in; a dented tin makes a perfectly good burn-test vessel.

The production rhythm: 180 candles a month without a production line

One litre of melter capacity and two pitchers set the rhythm. Everything else is scheduling.

At 180 candles a month the constraint is not money and it is not the melter — it is the flat surface where cured candles sit and the hours you have. A 1 litre melter holds roughly a kilogram of flakes per cycle, so a 30-jar run of 150 g candles is four or five melt cycles, and two pitchers let you split each cycle between two scents. Four pour sessions a month, 45 candles each, is the shape that fits a home kitchen or a small workroom.

1
Week 1 — test the new scents, pour the proven ones Two test candles of each of the three trial scents in each vessel they are destined for, plus the first production run of British Rose 150 g jars. Fragrance in at 80–90°C, stirred slowly for two full minutes as the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page instructs. Everything labelled on the base with pour date, scent, load and wick.
2
Week 2 — burn-test, then the second run Trim to 5–6 mm and burn last week's tests for three hours in a closed room, checking that the pool reaches the wall and the flame is steady. Meanwhile pour the Roasted Coffee tins and the Woody Oud jars. If a trial scent fails its burn test, you have lost two candles rather than 54.

Week 3 — the big session and the votives The 70 g votives are fast: small fills, a Thin (C1) wick, and four or five to a melt cycle's worth of wax. This is also the week to pour any repeat orders from month one. Clean the pitcher with isopropyl spray between scents — at five scents, cross-contamination is a real risk and a cheap one to avoid.

Week 4 — cure, finish, dispatch, reorder Soy keeps developing scent after it sets; the Chunks page asks for a minimum 48 hours and ideally 1–2 weeks before burn testing, and 14–21 days is standard practice for soy container candles. Lid on, care sticker on the base, label on the front. Then count what is left and place the reorder — the fragrance reorder first, because it is the one with a cure behind it.

The rows CSI cannot price — and the ₹4,296.80 held back

At 180 candles a month, packaging and courier stop being an afterthought and start being one of your largest lines.

CSI sells wax, fragrance, wicks, vessels, dyes, finishing supplies and tools. It does not sell outer cartons, mailers, bubble wrap, printed labels, ribbon, shrink film, courier services, electricity, your hours, rent, a website or advertising. No number is printed against any of them on this page, because a number invented for a Bengaluru maker shipping 20 parcels a week would mislead a Guwahati maker selling at a weekend market.

What changes at this level is scale. Whatever your label costs, you now need 180 of them a month; whatever a mailer costs, 180 of those. That is why the holdback is ₹4,296.80 rather than a token amount, and why you should price these rows before the CSI order goes in — a packaging quote that comes in above your holdback is a reason to pour 150 candles instead of 180, not a reason to skip the labels.

Total the honest way: ₹45,703.20 of materials, vessels and equipment from CSI, plus your own costs. Do not calculate your own tax position from this page either — prices on the store are inclusive of tax as stated on the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page, GST invoicing is available, and what you can do with that invoice is a question for your own adviser.

What ₹50,000.00 still does not buy

The honest limits of this basket are worth knowing before you spend it, not after.

It does not buy production equipment. The imported Electric Wax Melter at ₹21,240.00 for the 10 kg model is 42% of this budget — and at 180 candles a month it would sit idle most of the week. The Wax Pouring Funnel at ₹1,888.00 is the same argument at a smaller scale. Both are purchases for a month that is pouring several times this volume.

It does not buy a discount. There is no published bulk rate on this catalogue beyond the pack prices, and this basket takes every saving that exists — the 1 kg oil pack, the 1000 care-sticker roll, the Pack of 50 stirring sticks. Anything beyond that is a WhatsApp conversation about a specific consignment, and this page will not guess the outcome.

It does not buy time. 180 candles is roughly four pour sessions, plus wicking, labelling, photography and packing — and the cure window means stock poured in the last week of a month is not sellable in that month. If you are working around a job, plan the calendar backwards from the sale date, not forwards from the order date (the 12-month candle business calendar).

It does not buy certainty about the range. Three of the five scents in this basket are on trial at 200 g each. Two of them may not sell. That is the point of buying them shallow: the cost of being wrong is ₹1,080.00 or ₹600.00, not a 1 kg pack you will be pouring into candles nobody asked for a year from now.

What it does buy, to be fair to it: a range wide enough to learn from, cover deep enough not to stall, a rate on your biggest-volume scent that a smaller basket cannot reach, and equipment that lets two scents run through one melt cycle. Those are real. For what happens as volume climbs further, scaling towards 1,000 orders a month and how much profit is in candle making are the honest reading.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, vessels and tools — not packaging, printing, courier or marketing. This page therefore stops at ₹45,703.20 and leaves ₹4,296.80 of the budget as blank rows, and it says plainly that four of the lines in our own catalogue give you no saving at all for buying a bigger pack: CSI 464 wax, Eco Candle Wicks, the 150 gram glass jar and the ready-made braided wicks. Telling you not to upsize four lines is not in our short-term interest. Selling you 40 kg of wax you will not pour in six months is worse for both of us.

Every price is a live CSI variant price in September 2026; every per-gram, per-kilogram and per-unit rate is that pack price divided by the grams or units in the pack; every basket total is whole packs multiplied and added in Python. No bulk rate, discount, delivery charge or lead time is stated anywhere on this page, because none is published — those are WhatsApp conversations. The 10% ceiling for CSI 464 and the 80–90°C fragrance-addition window come from CSI product pages. The 8% working load, the 10% spare allowance and the 180-candle month are this page's own assumptions, labelled as such.

For bulk pricing on a consignment larger than the listed packs, GST invoicing, MSDS or IFRA documentation, or a check on a ₹50,000.00 basket before you place it, message CSI on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 with your vessel sizes, monthly target and scent list.

Frequently asked questions

Is ₹50,000.00 enough to start a candle business in India?
Comfortably, for a five-scent, three-size line pouring about 180 candles a month. The CSI side is ₹45,703.20 — ₹38,240.20 of materials and ₹7,463.00 of equipment — leaving ₹4,296.80 for labels, cartons, courier, electricity and your hours, which CSI does not sell and this page does not invent.
Does buying in bulk actually save money at ₹50,000.00?
On some lines, heavily. British Rose falls 28% per gram between the 50 gm and 1 kg packs, Performance Wooden Wicks fall 30% between the 10-pack and 100-pack, and care stickers fall 15% between 500 and 1000. On others it saves nothing: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg, and an Eco Thick (C2) wick is ₹9.44 at every pack size. Check the per-unit rate before every reorder.
How many candles can I make, and what does each cost?
180 a month — 72 × 150 g, 54 × 85 g and 54 × 70 g from 200 vessels with a 10% spare allowance. Materials are ₹219.97, ₹107.93 and ₹93.28 per candle at an 8% fragrance load. Labels, packaging, courier and labour are additional and are your own figures.
How much wax and fragrance should I hold as backup?
This basket holds 1.6 months of wax and 1.6 months of fragrance, and only a 10% spare allowance on vessels and wicks. The logic is lead time to a sellable candle: a jar delivered today can be poured today, while a fragrance delivered today still needs a 14–21 day cure. Hold depth where the delay is, not where the panic is.
Should I buy the big imported wax melter at this budget?
No. The 10 kg Electric Wax Melter (Imported) at ₹21,240.00 is 42% of the budget and would be idle most of a 180-candle month. The 1 litre Mini Electric Wax Melter at ₹2,360.00 plus two 600 ML pitchers at ₹708.00 each buys you parallel scents, which is what actually shortens a pour session at this volume.
Can I get a better price than the listed pack prices?
The pack prices on the store are the published prices, and this page uses nothing else. For a consignment larger than the biggest listed pack — beyond 10 kg of a wax, or a standing monthly order — message CSI on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926. Delivery charges, lead times and any negotiated rate are not published, so they stay blank rows in your costing until you have a quote.

About this guide: Written by the CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA team. The method here works with any supplier: divide every pack price by the grams or units inside it, compare the rate rather than the headline price, buy depth only where the rate actually falls and where the lead time to a sellable candle is longest, and leave the lines your supplier does not sell as blank rows in your own costing.
