I Have 30 Kg of Soy Wax in Stock and Average 180 g Finished Candles — Approximately How Many Customer Orders Can My Current Wax Inventory Support?

From 30 kg to candles

When a maker says "180 g candles", they almost always mean the finished candle: wax and fragrance together, weighed in the jar. At an 8% fragrance load, 8% of that 180 g is oil, 14.4 g, and the other 92% is wax, 165.6 g. That 165.6 g is the only number that should divide into a wax stock. If you start from a wax quantity, the finished weight you can make is wax ÷ (1 − load): 30 kg ÷ 0.92 = 32.61 kg of finished candle, which is exactly 181.16 candles of 180 g.

The 15-candle gap between the naive count and the true one matters when you are deciding whether to accept an order. Tell a wholesale customer you can make 166 and you have left 15 candles of capacity on the table. The 3% allowance works the other way, and it should: it is the honest deduction for wax that never reaches a jar. Use your own figure once you have tracked it. A higher load puts more oil and less wax in each candle, so the same 30 kg makes a few more candles: 172 at 6%, 179 at 10%. It also costs more in fragrance per candle, and it must stay inside the wax maker's stated ceiling: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%. Those are formulation maximums, not targets. Choose the load for the candle, then count.

From candles to customer orders

Orders are candles divided by your average basket, and the basket is a number only you have. Look at the last month or two of orders and divide candles shipped by orders shipped. Gift sets, bundles and single-candle orders all pull it in different directions. The table shows four common shapes.

The example basket of 1.5 candles gives 116 orders. Two things shift it in practice. Bundles and gift sets push the basket up and the order count down, even though the candle count is unchanged. And a few of those 175 candles will not reach customers at all: seconds, a cracked jar, the one you keep as a retained sample of the batch. If you want a figure you can promise, knock a few more off.

How many weeks the wax lasts

Orders supported becomes weeks of cover once you divide by how many orders you take a week. The title does not give a rate, so three are shown. Use your own average over the last two months.

At 20 orders a week, 30 kg is about 5.8 weeks of wax, a comfortable working stock for a small brand. At 30 orders a week it is under four weeks, and the reorder has to go in within days. The fragrance countdown page does the same calculation for oil with dated order-by points.

Matching the rest of the stock

If you plan to pour all 30 kg, the fragrance has to be on the shelf too. Each candle takes 14.4 g of oil, 14.83 g with the same 3% allowance, so 175 candles need 2.60 kg. That total is split by scent according to what sells. The example below splits the 175 candles across three CSI oils and rounds each to real in-stock bottles of 50 g and above.

Wicks follow the candle count one for one, plus a few spares for crooked sets and test pours: 175 + 9 = 184, which rounds to 1 × 100 + 1 × 50 + 2 × 20 Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 for ₹1,121.00. Jars depend on your container; CSI does not publish fill weights for most of its jars, so pour and weigh one before you commit to 180 g. Lids, labels and boxes are not CSI prices; add your own quotes.

When to reorder the wax

Knowing what 30 kg supports also tells you when it stops supporting you. At 20 orders a week and 1.5 candles each, you pour 30 candles a week, 731.01 g of wax a day. With a 7-day delivery (your own figure; CSI does not publish delivery times) and a 7-day buffer, the reorder line is 14 days of wax: 10.23 kg, about 60 candles' worth. From a full 30 kg you reach that line in about 3.8 weeks.
