Flashpoint & Vanillin - Important Notes
⚠️ Two Technical Points to Note Before Production
Flashpoint 98°C: This is a lower flashpoint than many fragrance oils - ensure you add this oil to your wax at a temperature below 98°C. For soy wax, the standard addition temperature of 60-65°C is well within the safe range. For paraffin, check your specific wax's recommended addition temperature and ensure it is below 98°C before adding. Never pour fragrance oil into wax above its flashpoint temperature.
Vanillin Content 0.2%: Very low vanillin content - minimal discoloration risk for most applications. If you are making bright white candles and want to confirm there is no yellowing over time, run a small test batch first. For ivory, cream, and coloured wax this is not a practical concern at 0.2%.

Candle Maker's Tip
💡 Blending, Positioning & Collection Ideas
Gardenia is the anchor fragrance for a luxury white floral candle collection - and one of the most commercially reliable premium florals in the global candle market. Use it alone in a frosted glass vessel with a minimal label for an immediately premium product. For a classic white floral bouquet, blend with jasmine at 60:40 (gardenia:jasmine) - the jasmine adds brightness and top note presence to the gardenia's creamier, rounder character. For a romantic rose-gardenia direction, blend with rose at 70:30. For a luxury spa profile, add 15-20% sandalwood for a warm, woody base that grounds the floral. For a bridal collection, consider gardenia as the primary scent alongside a white tea or white musk to keep the palette clean and elegant. In terms of aesthetics, frosted glass, white ceramic, clear vessels with gold hardware, and minimal monochrome labels all suit this fragrance perfectly. Price point: gardenia supports premium positioning - this is not a fragrance to undersell.
Ideal For
Best uses include luxury and premium jar candle collections, bridal and anniversary gifting ranges, spa and wellness-inspired products, romantic seasonal collections (Valentine's, Mother's Day), white floral themed candle lines, boutique and home decor candles, and any product where elegance, sophistication, and a timeless feminine quality are central to the brand identity. Preferred by makers creating premium, considered products and by customers who associate candles with refined, elevated living.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does this Gardenia Fragrance Oil smell like?
Rich, creamy, and velvety - a true-to-life gardenia bloom. Softer and creamier than jasmine, more velvety than rose, with natural sweetness and green freshness underneath. Luxurious, romantic, and immediately elegant - the fragrance associated with high-end floristry, bridal events, and classic fine fragrance.
What is the recommended fragrance load for soy wax candles?
Up to 10% for soy wax candles with a cure time of 48-72 hours. Up to 6% for paraffin wax candles with a cure time of 24-48 hours. Important: add this fragrance oil to wax at a temperature below 98°C (the flashpoint). Standard soy wax addition temperatures of 60-65°C are well within the safe range.
Will this discolour my candles?
Minimal risk. Vanillin content is 0.2% - very low. For most wax colours, ivory, and cream-toned wax this is not a practical concern. If making bright white candles, run a small test batch first to confirm there is no very slight yellowing over time before committing to full production.
Why is the flashpoint lower than other oils at 98°C?
Different fragrance oil compounds have different flashpoints - 98°C is the temperature above which this oil can ignite under specific conditions. Always add fragrance oil to wax below its flashpoint. For soy wax at the standard 60-65°C addition temperature, this is completely safe. Check your specific wax's recommended addition temperature and ensure it is below 98°C.
What fragrances blend well with Gardenia?
Jasmine for a layered white floral depth (try 60:40 gardenia:jasmine). Rose for a classic romantic bouquet. Sandalwood for a warm floral-woody luxury base. Tuberose for an intensely heady white floral blend. White tea for a light spa direction. Vanilla for a softer, creamier finish.
