Six real Judge.me reviews published on candlemakingsuppliesindia.store, for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, Gardenia Fragrance Oil, Gilli Mitti (Patchouli), Eco Candle Wicks, Ceramic Jar for Candle Making and White Matte Votive Jar 70g. Four are recorded by Judge.me as verified buyers and are badged; the other two are not and are not badged. Longer reviews are trimmed with an ellipsis and otherwise unedited. None of them describes a ₹5,000 starter budget, and none endorses the purchase list on this page — they are product reviews, nothing more.

Buy the thermometer and the scale before anything else, then one wax, three small bottles of fragrance, twenty small jars and forty wicks. The worked list below comes to ₹4,088.20 of real CSI pack sizes and produces about fifteen test candles. It does not produce a sellable collection, and this page will not pretend otherwise.
37.7%
of a ₹5,000 budget goes on a ₹1,883.00 tool set that makes zero candles by itself · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What do I buy first? A pen thermometer at ₹354.00 and a weighing scale at ₹354.00. Without both, nothing else on this page is repeatable — a maker who cannot read temperature or weight is guessing, and a guess cannot be reproduced next month.

How much do the tools cost in total? The honest minimum — thermometer, scale and something to pour from — is ₹1,239.00 using the Candle Wax Pouring Jug at ₹531.00. The fuller set with a 600 ml steel pitcher, a mixer and stirrers is ₹1,883.00, which is 37.7% of ₹5,000.

What does the remaining money buy? One kilogram of wax, three fragrance oils at 50 g, twenty 70 g votive jars, forty wicks and a sheet of wick stickers: ₹2,205.20, for a list total of ₹4,088.20 with ₹911.80 left unspent on purpose.

What does ₹5,000 actually produce? About fifteen 70 g test candles and a settled wax-wick-jar-load combination. It does not produce inventory. At this budget you are buying knowledge, not stock.
The short answer
Tools first, and they are not cheap: Pen Thermometer ₹354.00 + Candle Making Weighing Scale ₹354.00 are non-negotiable. Add a pouring vessel and you are at ₹1,239.00 minimum, ₹1,883.00 for the fuller set.
Then one wax with a published ceiling: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 1 kg at ₹507.40, stated fragrance load up to 10%. Only three of CSI's sixteen waxes publish a ceiling at all.
Then small fragrance, many jars, plenty of wicks: three oils at 50 g (₹653.80), twenty Clear Glass Votive Jars 70 g (₹637.20), twenty C1 and twenty C2 Eco Candle Wicks (₹306.80) and wick stickers (₹100.00).

Where a ₹5,000 starter budget actually goes — drawn to scale, real CSI pack prices ₹0 ₹2,500 ₹5,000 TOOLS ₹1,883.00 UNSPENT ₹911.80 Tools · ₹1,883.00 · 37.7% Wax · 1 kg · ₹507.40 · 10.1% Fragrance · 3 × 50 g · ₹653.80 · 13.1% Jars · 20 × 70 g · ₹637.20 · 12.7% Wicks + stickers · ₹406.80 · 8.1% Held back on purpose · ₹911.80 · 18.2% The first bar is the argument: 37.7% of the budget buys equipment that makes no candles by itself. Raw material — wax, fragrance, jars, wicks — is only 44.1% of ₹5,000. Plan around that, not against it.
Every segment is a real CSI pack price plotted to scale: the ₹1,883.00 tool set, 1 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40, three 50 g fragrance oils at ₹653.80, twenty Clear Glass Votive Jars at ₹637.20, forty Eco Candle Wicks plus wick stickers at ₹406.80, and ₹911.80 deliberately unspent. Straight answer
With ₹5,000, what should a first-time candle maker actually buy?
Buy the measuring tools first and accept that they take a large bite. A Pen Thermometer at ₹354.00 and a Candle Making Weighing Scale at ₹354.00 are the two purchases that make everything else repeatable; with a pouring vessel the minimum is ₹1,239.00 and the fuller set is ₹1,883.00 — 37.7% of ₹5,000. Then buy one wax that publishes a fragrance ceiling: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 1 kg at ₹507.40, stated up to 10%. Then three fragrance oils at 50 g, not one at a kilogram: Citrus Lemon ₹170.00, British Rose ₹212.40, Sandalwood ₹271.40. Then twenty small jars — two packs of ten Clear Glass Votive Jars 70 g at ₹318.60 each — forty Eco Candle Wicks across both C1 and C2 at ₹306.80, and a sheet of wick stickers at ₹100.00. That is ₹4,088.20, about fifteen 70 g test candles, and ₹911.80 still in your pocket. What you have bought is a settled combination and three scents you have smelled in your own wax — not inventory. Full method in the complete raw material list.
One line: thermometer and scale before anything else, one wax, three 50 g oils, twenty small jars, forty wicks — ₹4,088.20 spent, ₹911.80 held back, fifteen test candles, zero inventory.
If ₹5,000 will not stretch to both the tools and the materials, buy the ₹354.00 thermometer and the ₹354.00 scale now and the materials next month. Materials you cannot measure are materials you cannot repeat, and an unrepeatable result is not worth the wax it was poured in.

The tools come first, and on ₹5,000 they cost 37.7% of everything

Most ₹5,000 starter lists open with wax. That is the wrong place to start, and it is why so many first batches cannot be repeated.

Candle making is a weighing and temperature discipline before it is anything else. Fragrance load is a weight percentage, so it cannot be dosed by eye or by millilitres — oils differ in density and a spoon is not a measurement. Wax also has one temperature window for adding fragrance and another for pouring, both narrow enough that a guess lands outside them. A maker without a scale and a thermometer is not making candles badly; they are making a different candle every time, with no way of knowing which variable changed.

So the first two line items are fixed: a Pen Thermometer at ₹354.00 and a Candle Making Weighing Scale at ₹354.00. That is ₹708.00 — 14.2% of ₹5,000 — before a single gram of raw material. Add something to pour from and the honest minimum is ₹1,239.00 with the Candle Wax Pouring Jug at ₹531.00, or ₹1,416.00 with the Steel Pouring Pitcher in its 600 ml size at ₹708.00. The 150 ml pitcher is out of stock, so do not plan around it.

Tool spend · the two honest options

Item Price Minimum Fuller set
Pen Thermometer ₹354.00 Yes Yes
Candle Making Weighing Scale ₹354.00 Yes Yes
Candle Wax Pouring Jug ₹531.00 Yes —
Steel Pouring Pitcher (600 ml) ₹708.00 — Yes
CSI Pro Mixer (cordless) ₹349.00 — Yes
Bamboo Stirring Sticks (pack of 5) ₹118.00 — Yes
Total — ₹1,239.00 · 24.8% ₹1,883.00 · 37.7%

Decide between those two columns before you look at a fragrance oil, because the choice moves ₹644.00 — more than a kilogram of wax — from one side of the budget to the other. The minimum column leaves ₹3,761.00 for material, the fuller column ₹3,117.00. Both work. Skipping the thermometer or the scale to afford a nicer jar does not.

Against our own interest, plainly. If ₹5,000 is genuinely all there is this month, the correct order is the ₹354.00 thermometer, the ₹354.00 scale and the ₹531.00 jug — ₹1,239.00 — plus the smallest wax and oil you can manage, and the rest next month. We would rather you came back twice than spent the whole ₹5,000 on material you cannot dose accurately. A kilogram of fragrance oil bought before you own a scale is the single most expensive mistake available at this budget.
What the mixer and the stirrers actually buy you
Neither is essential. The CSI Pro Mixer at ₹349.00 makes a long, even incorporation of fragrance into wax easy rather than tiring, and Bamboo Stirring Sticks at ₹118.00 for five give you a clean stirrer per scent, so yesterday's oil does not end up in today's batch. On a multi-scent test programme that cross-contamination is a real source of confusing results, and ₹118.00 removes it. The argument for the fuller set is cleaner data, not comfort.

The worked ₹5,000 list, to the rupee

Every line below is a real CSI variant at September 2026 pricing, in a pack size that exists. Running total in the right-hand column. The fuller tool set is used here; swap in the ₹1,239.00 minimum and everything below it simply gets ₹644.00 more room.

Now the output, computed rather than claimed. CSI states fragrance load as a percentage of total candle weight, so a 70 g votive at 8% is 5.6 g of oil and 64.4 g of wax. One kilogram of CSI 464 therefore pours 1,000 ÷ 64.4 = 15.5, so fifteen candles. Wax is the binding constraint: twenty jars, forty wicks and 150 g of oil would scent twenty-six candles, but the wax runs out at fifteen. The five spare jars and twenty-five spare wicks are deliberate — glass breaks, and you will want to re-pour whatever you settle on.

State which denominator you are using, every time. At 8% of the wax rather than of the finished candle, the same 70 g votive is 5.19 g of oil and 64.81 g of wax — 0.41 g per candle, trivial here and a kilogram-scale error across a production run. The two conventions collide inside our own catalogue: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state the 13% ceiling as a percentage of total wax weight. Write the convention on your recipe sheet in words, not just the percentage.
1
Spend the first three candles on nothing but wax and wickPour three jars with no fragrance and no colour, one on a C1 wick and two on C2, and burn them to the bottom. You are not testing scent yet; you are finding out whether this wax reaches the glass wall in this jar on this wick. Three unscented 70 g candles use 210 g of wax — about ₹106.55 at ₹507.40 per kilogram — plus three jars at ₹31.86 each, ₹95.58. Scent added before the wick is settled only hides the result.
2
Then six candles, three scents at two loadsWith the wick settled, pour two of each scent — one at a lower load, one at the top of the range your wax states. Six candles consume 386.4 g of wax and 33.6 g of oil. Label every jar at the bench with the scent, the load in grams, the add temperature and the pour date. A candle whose numbers you did not record is one you cannot learn from.
3
Cure, then burn at least half of them to the bottomOf the fifteen, expect to sacrifice six to eight in burn testing, and sacrifice them properly — all the way down, in one or two sittings, with the time to full melt pool and the state of the wick written down. A candle burned to the bottom teaches you more than a candle kept on a shelf, and a beginner who keeps every candle because it looks nice has converted ₹5,000 into ornaments instead of information.
4
Only then spend the ₹911.80By now you know which wick, which load and which of the three scents behaves in your wax. The held-back money has three sensible destinations: a second kilogram of the same wax at ₹507.40 for another fifteen pours; a third pack of ten jars at ₹318.60; or two more scents at 15 g, which costs between ₹68.44 and ₹105.02 a bottle. Choose after the burn tests, not before.
The CSI principle for this whole cluster
At ₹5,000 the budget buys knowledge, not inventory.
The deliverable from a ₹5,000 spend is a written, repeatable combination — this wax, this wick, this jar, this load — plus three scents you have actually smelled in your own wax in your own room. It is not a sellable collection, and any page that implies ₹5,000 launches a candle business is lying to a beginner. Everything about turning that knowledge into stock belongs to a later, larger purchase.

Two other ways to split the same ₹5,000

Plan A is balanced. Two other splits are defensible, and the right one depends on what you most need to find out. Both use the same ₹1,883.00 tool set and both come in under ₹5,000. Read the last column, which is the only one that matters: what the money buys you in information, not in candles.

Plan B · more wax, more pours, fewer scents
₹4,902.60 spent · ₹97.40 left · thirty candles across two scents
Item Variant Price
Tool set (as Plan A) Five items ₹1,883.00
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 1 kg × 2 = ₹1,014.80 ₹1,014.80
Citrus Lemon + British Rose 100 g each: ₹300.00 + ₹342.20 ₹642.20
Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 g Three packs of 10 = 30 jars ₹955.80
Eco Candle Wicks C1 × 20 + C2 × 20 ₹306.80
Candle Wick Stickers 1 sheet — 40 ₹100.00
Total Remainder ₹97.40 ₹4,902.60

What Plan B buys in information: jars are the limit here — 2 kg of wax pours thirty-one candles and 200 g of oil scents thirty-five, so thirty jars run out first. Thirty pours is enough for a wick ladder on two scents and then three repeats of each winning combination, which is the only way to know a result was not luck. Repetition is what separates a recipe from an anecdote. The cost is variety: two scents known well, ninety not at all.

Plan C · more fragrance variety, fewer repeats
₹4,673.74 spent · ₹326.26 left · twenty candles across eight scents
Item Variant Price
Tool set (as Plan A) Five items ₹1,883.00
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 1 kg × 2 ₹1,014.80
Eight fragrance oils at 15 g See the list below ₹731.94
Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 g Two packs of 10 = 20 jars ₹637.20
Eco Candle Wicks C1 × 20 + C2 × 20 ₹306.80
Candle Wick Stickers 1 sheet — 40 ₹100.00
Total Remainder ₹326.26 ₹4,673.74

The eight 15 g bottles, at their real prices: Eucalyptus Spearmint ₹68.44, Citrus Lemon ₹81.42, Sandalwood ₹93.22, Roasted Coffee ₹93.22, Woody Oud ₹93.22, British Rose ₹94.40, Jasmine ₹103.00 and Lavender ₹105.02 — ₹731.94 for 120 g across eight scent families.

What Plan C buys in information: twenty jars against eight scents is two or three candles per scent, and 120 g of oil scents only twenty-one at 5.6 g each, so oil and jars run out together. You finish having smelled eight families in your own wax — citrus, herbal, woody, gourmand, oriental, floral — which is worth a lot if you do not yet know what you want to make. What you will not have is a wick ladder on any single scent. Plan C answers "what do I like"; Plan B answers "does my recipe repeat". Plan A splits the difference and is the one we would send a first-time maker.

All three totals verified against live pricing: Plan A ₹4,088.20 · Plan B ₹4,902.60 · Plan C ₹4,673.74. Every line is a real variant in a real pack size. CSI's wax packs are 500 g, 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg (Natural Soy Pearl Wax also has a 50 kg); fragrance stops at 1 kg; jar pack sizes differ per jar, so read the listing. There is no 25 kg wax carton and no fragrance pack above 1 kg anywhere in the catalogue.
Not sure which split fits what you want to find out? Send us the list before you pay. Tell us your budget, your jar size and what you want to learn first, and we will tell you which lines to drop. CSI publishes no minimum order quantity and no quantity slab, so a small first order is an ordinary one.

Why 15 g and 50 g bottles are the whole argument

This is the strongest piece of practical advice on the page, and it argues directly against us selling you a kilogram.

Most of our 92 fragrance oils are stocked in a ladder of 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg. The 15 g bottle exists for one purpose: finding out whether an oil behaves in your wax before you commit money to it. In a 70 g votive at 8% of finished weight, 15 g is 2.6 candles — enough to pour two and smell them properly, cold and hot.

Here is a five-scent test set at the smallest size each of those oils is stocked in, with the real prices:

Five scents at 15 g versus one scent at 1 kg
The same ₹ buys five answers or one commitment
Oil 15 g ₹ / g at 15 g ₹ / g at 1 kg Premium for not committing
Eucalyptus Spearmint ₹68.44 ₹4.563 ₹3.068 1.49×
Citrus Lemon ₹81.42 ₹5.428 ₹2.832 1.92×
Sandalwood ₹93.22 ₹6.215 ₹5.027 1.24×
Roasted Coffee ₹93.22 ₹6.215 ₹3.738 1.66×
British Rose ₹94.40 ₹6.293 ₹3.068 2.05×
Five scents, 75 g total ₹430.70 — — —

Five scents, five answers, ₹430.70. One kilogram of the cheapest oil in that table — Citrus Lemon at ₹2,832.00 — is 6.58 times the price and buys one scent, and 56.6% of the whole ₹5,000 on a fragrance you have not yet smelled in your own wax. If it does not suit soy, you own 980 grams of a decision you cannot reverse.

The cost of that flexibility is real: a 15 g bottle costs 1.24× to 2.05× more per gram than the same oil at a kilogram, and on Citrus Lemon the premium is ₹38.94 on that one bottle. That is the price of an option, and at this budget it is worth paying. The arithmetic only flips once you know which scent you are repeating — and at ₹5,000 you do not know yet.

Watch the ladder: not every oil has every size. Tobacco Vanilla starts at 100 g (₹799.00), so there is no cheap way to try it. Mint Sandalwood and Vanilla Orange Blossom have no 500 g at all, and several Royal-line oils — Royal Oud and Amber Oud Royal among them — have no 15 g and no 50 g, starting at 100 g (₹699.00 and ₹1,299.00). Those are not beginner purchases. Check the size ladder on the listing before planning a test set around an oil.
Wicks are the one line to be generous with
Eco Candle Wicks in Thin (C1) are flat at ₹5.90 per wick at every pack size from 10 to 1,000. There is no volume break to chase and no penalty for buying a small pack, which means ten spare wicks cost ₹59.00. Set that against one kilogram of Vanilla Bean at ₹7,646.00 that turns out not to suit your wax: the wrong kilogram costs 129.6 times what ten spare wicks cost. Be generous with the cheap variable and stingy with the expensive one. Thick (C2) is flat at ₹9.44 — note the 10-wick C2 pack is out of stock at the time of writing, so start at the 20-wick variant at ₹188.80.

What not to buy at this budget, and why

Dead stock is the real enemy at ₹5,000: the budget is small enough that one wrong line removes a third of your capacity to learn. These are the purchases to refuse, in order of how much money they destroy.

The refuse list
What it would cost, and what you lose by buying it now
Do not buy Example cost Why not yet
A kilogram of any fragrance oil ₹2,832.00 to ₹24,056.00 From 56.6% of the budget up to 4.8 times it, on one scent, before the formula is settled
A 5 kg or 10 kg bag of wax ₹2,537.00 / ₹5,074.00 for CSI 464 The 10 kg bag alone exceeds ₹5,000. There is also no bulk saving to chase — see below
Dye of any kind ₹236.00 for 15 ml liquid dye Not the money — the variable. Colour is one more thing to establish before the candle burns correctly
A second wax ₹399.00 to ₹1,097.40 per kg Two waxes means two wick ladders and twice the pours. Understand one wax first
Any packaging at all Not sold by CSI Nothing is being shipped yet, and there is nothing to label

On bulk, against our own interest: most readers at this budget worry about missing a quantity discount. On our wax range there is usually no discount to miss. CSI 464 is flat at ₹507.40 per kilogram from 1 kg to 10 kg — the larger bag buys fewer parcels, nothing else. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are ₹0.90 per kilogram dearer in the 10 kg bag (₹599.90/kg) than in the 1 kg (₹599.00/kg), and Eco Soy CSI 400's 5 kg is ₹0.20 per kilogram dearer than its 1 kg. Only Natural Soy Pearl Wax has a genuine break: ₹450.00/kg at 1 kg, ₹424.80/kg at 5 kg and flat above that. CSI publishes no minimum order, no quantity slab, no rate card, no credit term and no quantity discount, which takes the price question out of your budget decision and leaves a cash-and-risk question. That is a better question.

Dye is not a shortcut, it is a fourth variable. Liquid dye starts at ₹236.00 for 15 ml on every shade, so the money is not the issue. The issue is that CSI publishes no dye dosage chart, no drops-per-kilogram figure and no shade card, and no burn test on any colourant. Dye load is therefore something you establish yourself, by weight, one step at a time — exactly like fragrance load and wick size. Adding it before the candle burns cleanly means that when something goes wrong you will not know which of four things caused it. Settle wax, wick and load first; buy the dye in the purchase after this one.

On packaging: CSI sells no standalone lids, no retail or gift boxes, no shipping cartons, no printed labels, no box inserts, no cushioning and no packing tape — not one of those lines exists in the catalogue, so no price for them appears here. They are real costs in a real candle business, and those figures have to come from your printer or packaging supplier before you quote anyone. At ₹5,000 the question does not arise, because nothing is being sold. Note that some jars ship with a lid as part of the jar product, so read the product title rather than budgeting for a lid separately. Candle Care Stickers at ₹413.00 per 500 are a purchase for the day you have something to sell.

We would rather sell a beginner 15 g bottles twice than a kilogram once. The kilogram is a better invoice and a worse first order.

Choosing the wax, the jar and the wick

Three decisions, each with a checkable criterion rather than a preference. Take them in this order, because each one constrains the next.

1
Wax · pick one that publishes a ceiling
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (Flakes)
A selection criterion you can verify yourself in thirty seconds: only three of our sixteen waxes publish a maximum fragrance load. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks state up to 13% of total wax weight, CSI 464 up to 10%, and Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 up to 13%. The other thirteen publish none. Pick one of those three for a first wax, because a documented limit gives you a number to work inside instead of a rumour. These are formulation limits set by the wax maker — how much oil the wax holds in solution — not regulatory limits.
Size Price Per kg 70 g candles @ 8%
500 g ₹260.00 ₹520.00 ≈7
1 kg ₹507.40 ₹507.40 ≈15
5 kg ₹2,537.00 ₹507.40 ≈77
10 kg ₹5,074.00 ₹507.40 ≈155
Buy the 1 kg, not the 500 g: it is ₹12.60 per kg cheaper Buy CSI 464

That last line is the one place on this page where the smaller pack is the wrong answer. CSI 464's 500 g works out at ₹520.00 per kilogram against ₹507.40 for the 1 kg, so the 500 g is dearer per kilogram than twice the quantity. If you are buying this wax, buy the kilogram. Compare Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹399.00/kg, the cheapest soy on the store, which publishes no fragrance ceiling at all: cheaper wax, one less documented number to work with. Paying ₹108.40 more per kilogram for a published ceiling is a reasonable trade.

Jar · small, cheap, and published fill weight
Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram
At ₹159.30 for five or ₹318.60 for ten — ₹31.86 a jar — this is among the cheapest in-stock containers we list, and the 70 g in the name is a stated fill weight, which is what makes it useful for testing. Small jars are right at this budget for a reason that has nothing to do with looks: a 70 g candle uses 64.4 g of wax at 8%, so a kilogram gives you fifteen experiments instead of five. More pours is more information for the same money.
Pack Price Per jar Wax needed @ 8%
Pack of 5 ₹159.30 ₹31.86 322 g
Pack of 10 ₹318.60 ₹31.86 644 g
Two packs of 10 ₹637.20 ₹31.86 1,288 g
Flat at ₹31.86 per jar in either pack — no reason to over-buy Buy votive jars

A warning about jar capacity that costs people real money. Some jars publish a fill weight — the 70 g votive, the Borosilicate Glass Jar 600 gram at ₹200.00 — and some publish a volume instead. The 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar at ₹200.60 for five is a 200 millilitre jar, and 200 ml is a volume, not a 200 g fill: wax is less dense than water and you leave headspace below the rim. Where a jar publishes no fill weight, establish it on the first pour — weigh the empty jar, pour to your intended level, weigh it again, write the difference on your recipe sheet. Pack sizes vary by jar across our range (1, 5, 6, 10, 12, 20, 50 and 100 pieces), so read the listing rather than assuming.

Wick · buy both sizes, they are the cheap variable
Eco Candle Wicks — Thin (C1) and Thick (C2)
Buy both. Twenty C1 at ₹118.00 and twenty C2 at ₹188.80 is ₹306.80 for forty wicks — 6.1% of the budget — and it answers the only question that matters in your first three pours: does the melt pool reach the glass? We publish no wick-sizing chart, because wick behaviour depends on jar diameter, wax, fragrance and load together, and a chart ignoring those would be worse than nothing. So you test, and testing is cheap here. Add Candle Wick Stickers at ₹100.00 for 40 (₹2.50 each) to keep the wick centred and on the base while the wax sets.
Variant Price Per wick Note
Thin (C1) / 10 ₹59.00 ₹5.90 Flat per wick at every pack size
Thin (C1) / 20 ₹118.00 ₹5.90 The pack used in Plan A
Thin (C1) / 100 ₹590.00 ₹5.90 No saving over the 10-pack
Thick (C2) / 20 ₹188.80 ₹9.44 Smallest C2 pack in stock
Thick (C2) / 100 ₹944.00 ₹9.44 Also flat per wick

Lead time is the one thing we will not put a number on. CSI publishes no dispatch or delivery time, so if your order has to arrive before a date that matters, confirm the current lead time on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 before you plan around it. Note too that the ₹5,000 here is material cost only; whatever the cart adds for delivery sits on top. GST invoicing is standard, and MSDS and IFRA documentation are available on request. Thinking past this first order: what it actually costs to start a candle business in India and where to buy raw materials in India.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA sells raw materials, not finished candles, which makes this page awkward to write. The commercially convenient version would put a kilogram of fragrance oil and a 10 kg bag of wax in a ₹5,000 starter list, because that is a bigger invoice. We have put 150 g of oil and one kilogram of wax in it instead, said plainly that the tools take 37.7%, and told you to keep ₹911.80 in your pocket until you have burned some candles. A beginner who converts ₹5,000 into material they cannot use does not come back.

Every price here is a live CSI variant price from September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and availability always take precedence. Pack sizes are as published: wax in 500 g, 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg (plus a 50 kg on Natural Soy Pearl Wax), fragrance oil at most 15 g to 1 kg, and jar pack sizes that differ per jar. CSI publishes no wastage percentage, no dispatch or delivery time, no minimum order, no quantity slab, no rate card, no credit term and no quantity discount, and none is implied above. The 10% and 13% ceilings are the wax manufacturers' stated formulation limits for specific waxes — not regulatory limits, and not interchangeable between waxes.

Nothing here projects sales, demand, margin or payback: those depend on your pricing, your market and your costs, not on ours. For current lead time, GST invoicing, or MSDS and IFRA documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Is ₹5,000 enough to start candle making?
It is enough to learn candle making properly, and not enough to build inventory. The worked list here spends ₹4,088.20 on real CSI pack sizes and produces about fifteen 70 g test candles, of which you should expect to burn six to eight to the bottom. What ₹5,000 delivers is a written, repeatable combination of wax, wick, jar and load, plus three scents you have smelled in your own wax — not a sellable collection. Be sceptical of any page that says otherwise.
What is the very first thing I should buy?
A Pen Thermometer at ₹354.00 and a Candle Making Weighing Scale at ₹354.00. Fragrance load is a weight percentage and wax has a temperature window for adding fragrance, so without those two instruments every batch is a different batch and nothing you discover can be repeated. If your ₹5,000 will not cover both the tools and a sensible material list, buy the thermometer and the scale this month and the materials next month — not the other way round.
Should I buy a kilogram of fragrance oil to save money?
Not at this budget. One kilogram of Citrus Lemon is ₹2,832.00 — 56.6% of ₹5,000 spent on a single scent you have not yet tested in your own wax. Five scents at 15 g cost ₹430.70 in total and answer five questions instead of one. The 15 g size does cost between 1.24× and 2.05× more per gram than the kilogram, and that premium is worth paying until you know which scent you will be repeating. We would rather sell you 15 g bottles twice than a kilogram once.
Which wax should a complete beginner buy first?
Pick one of the three that publishes a maximum fragrance load, so you have a documented number to work inside: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (up to 10%, ₹507.40/kg), Luxury Soy Wax Chunks (up to 13% of total wax weight, ₹599.00/kg) or Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 (up to 13%, ₹650.00/kg). The other thirteen waxes we stock publish no ceiling. Buy one kilogram, not 500 g — on CSI 464 the 1 kg is ₹12.60 per kilogram cheaper than the 500 g pack.
How many wicks and jars should I buy for testing?
More wicks than you think, and slightly more jars than you have wax for. Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) are flat at ₹5.90 per wick at every pack size from 10 to 1,000, so ten spares cost ₹59.00 and there is no volume break to wait for. Buy both C1 and C2 — twenty of each is ₹306.80 — because wick size must be settled before fragrance tells you anything. Plan A buys twenty 70 g votives for fifteen candles' worth of wax, because glass breaks.
When should I buy dye and packaging?
After this purchase, not during it. Dye is cheap — ₹236.00 for 15 ml of liquid candle dye — but it is a fourth variable, and CSI publishes no dosage chart, no shade card and no burn test on any colourant, so dye load is something you have to establish by weight yourself. Add it once the candle burns correctly uncoloured. Packaging does not arise at all: CSI sells no standalone lids, boxes, cartons, printed labels, inserts, cushioning or tape, so those are costs to get from a printer or packaging supplier when you actually have something to ship.

Arithmetic: fragrance load is taken as a percentage of total candle weight, so a 70 g candle at 8% is 5.6 g of oil and 64.4 g of wax; at 8% of wax weight instead it is 5.19 g and 64.81 g, and both conventions are stated where the difference matters. One kilogram of wax therefore pours 1,000 ÷ 64.4 = 15.5, floored to fifteen 70 g candles. Plan A: ₹1,883.00 + ₹507.40 + ₹653.80 + ₹637.20 + ₹306.80 + ₹100.00 = ₹4,088.20, remainder ₹911.80, material share ₹2,205.20 (44.1%), tool share 37.7%. Plan B: ₹1,883.00 + ₹1,014.80 + ₹642.20 + ₹955.80 + ₹306.80 + ₹100.00 = ₹4,902.60, remainder ₹97.40. Plan C: ₹1,883.00 + ₹1,014.80 + ₹731.94 + ₹637.20 + ₹306.80 + ₹100.00 = ₹4,673.74, remainder ₹326.26. Five-scent 15 g test set ₹68.44 + ₹81.42 + ₹93.22 + ₹93.22 + ₹94.40 = ₹430.70 for 75 g, against ₹2,832.00 for 1 kg of Citrus Lemon — a ratio of 6.58×, and 56.6% of a ₹5,000 budget.

What CSI does not publish, and is therefore not stated above: no wastage or loss percentage, no dispatch or delivery time, no minimum order quantity, no quantity slab, no rate card, no credit term, no quantity discount, no wick-sizing chart, no dye dosage chart or shade card, and no burn test on any colourant. CSI also sells no standalone lids, boxes, cartons, printed labels, inserts, cushioning or packing tape, so none of those is priced here. Fragrance ceilings are formulation limits set by the wax manufacturer, not regulatory limits. The ₹5,000 budget and any retail price are the reader's own figures; no sales, margin, payback or business outcome is projected.
