I Have a 500-Candle Wedding Order Split Between 200 Lavender, 200 Rose and 100 Oud — How Much of Each Fragrance Should I Buy at 8% Load?

The per-scent sheet

Every scent gets the same treatment, one after the other. Take the number of candles ordered in that scent, add backups as whole candles, add test candles, multiply by the oil per candle, and add pour loss. Only then round to that oil's packs. The table below does all of that for the three scents, at a 70 g votive and 8% load.

Why per scent and not 4% of 500? Because backups and tests are candles in a specific scent. If one rose votive cracks on the morning of the wedding, a spare lavender does not replace it. Rounding 4% up per scent gives 8, 8 and 4 backups, 20 in all, which is exactly what 4% of 500 would give here. With less round numbers it can come out one or two higher, and that is correct: every scent needs at least its own spare.

Test candles are also per scent. Your wick check can be shared because every candle uses the same wax, jar and fill. The scent check cannot, because each oil behaves differently in the wax. 3 per scent covers one burn, one cold-throw check and one retained sample. Rounding three oils, not one

If the whole order were one scent, you would round 3,051.27 g once. Split three ways, you round three times, and each rounding leaves a little over. How much depends on whether you top up with small bottles or buy only large ones. The table compares the two approaches for each scent.

Topping up with 100 g and 15 g bottles keeps the leftovers to about 58.73 g across all three scents. Buying only 500 g and 1 kg bottles costs ₹3,652.20 more and leaves 948.73 g over. The small bottles carry a per-gram premium (the 15 g is the dearest size of all three oils), but you are buying so few grams in them that the premium costs much less than the spare oil the big bottles force on you.

Choosing the oud

Oud is the scent most likely to change the budget, because CSI's ouds span a wide price range. Regal Royal Oud is out of stock at every size on the pull date, so we have not planned with it. Three in-stock ouds are compared below for the same 617.18 g requirement. We do not publish throw data for any oil, so choose on the couple's preference from a 15 g sample, then cost it.

Woody Oud is the value choice and is priced flat from 100 g upward at ₹4.53 a gram. Dark Vanilla Oud adds a sweeter, gourmand direction at ₹5.69 a gram at 1 kg. White Royal Oud is the premium option at ₹8.10 a gram. On only 100 favours the difference between the cheapest and the dearest is a little over ₹2,200 on the order. For the couple, the question is the scent, not the rupees. Show them the per-candle figure and let them choose.

Wax and the rest of the order

The wax, wick and container are identical in every candle, so they are calculated once for all 529 poured votives. The wax is 529 × 64.40 g = 34,067.60 g, plus 3% pour loss = 35,089.63 g. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% by the wax maker, so 8% is well within range for all three scents. 7 × 5 kg + 1 × 500 g costs ₹21,264.00; the 5 kg bag is ₹599.00 a kilo, marginally cheaper than the 10 kg at ₹599.90.

That is ₹109.67 of material per delivered favour. The container is the Votive Glass Jars (Black), sold singly at ₹35.40, in fives at ₹159.30 and in tens at ₹318.60. The orange colour is out of stock. CSI does not publish a fill weight for it, so 70 g is an illustrative votive fill: weigh a test pour and replace it with your own figure. Wicks are Eco Thin C1 at ₹5.90 each, with about 5% extra for wicks damaged while setting, a working assumption. Test the wick in your votive, because CSI does not publish wick sizes per diameter.

If your favour is not 70 g

Favour sizes vary. Every figure on this page scales in proportion to the finished candle weight, so you can rerun the order for any size. The table gives the net oil per scent for the 200 / 200 / 100 split at 8%, and the net wax for all 500 candles, before backups, tests and loss. Add those allowances in the same order as above.

Only one of those sizes matches a CSI container with a published fill: 50 g, the Heart Cutout Velvet Jar. The Golden Aluminium Tin is published at 85 g, between the 70 g and 100 g rows. Running a three-scent pour

The arithmetic is only half of a split order. The other half is keeping three scents apart through melting, pouring, labelling and packing. The walkthrough below is the sequence we suggest. Timings are yours to set; CSI does not publish cure or pour-rate figures.

If the split is given as percentages rather than counts, for example 60% lavender and 40% vanilla across 2,000 candles, convert to counts first and round each count to a whole candle.
