Are 1 kg packs cheaper per gram? For most oils, no. For 52 of the 91 oils listing both, the 1 kg is within 1% of the 100 g per gram. Twenty-four oils have a saving of 5% or more, including Honeydew Melon (22.0%) and Citronella (62.3%). See the per-gram ladder.
Does CSI sell larger bulk packs? CSI lists oils up to 1 kg per listing. Larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp, and no discount figure is published. Ask with your oil and quantity; do not assume a rate.
What should I buy for Honeydew Melon? The cheapest listed cover for 8,280 g is 8 × 1 kg + 5 × 50 g + 2 × 15 g, ₹28,482.84. Eight kilos plus a 500 g (₹28,886.40) is simpler. For one quantity above 1 kg, ask for a quote.
8 kg for 1,000 candles
The calculation uses CSI's convention: load is a share of the finished candle weight. A 100 g candle at 8% is 100 × 0.08 = 8 g of oil and 92 g of wax. At a thousand candles, the order holds 8,000 g of oil and 92,000 g of wax. Small candles make the per-unit figures look trivial, which is exactly why the total surprises people.

Makers commonly plan 3–5% extra for pour loss and test burns. Small candles often lose proportionally more, because each pour leaves a similar film in the jug whatever the candle size and there are more pours per kilo. If your 100 g jars are filled from a jug one at a time, measure your real loss on the first day and adjust; the bottle-weight consumption method shows how. At 5%, the need becomes 8,440 g.
Check the convention before ordering. 8% of the 92 kg of wax is 7,360 g, a real load of 7.41% and 640 g short. At a thousand candles, a convention error costs more oil than the whole test allowance. Ordering from finished weight, not wax weight sets out the conversion.
The per-gram ladder, oil by oil
The table prices exactly 8,000 g of six oils three ways: all in 100 g bottles, all in 500 g, all in 1 kg. It isolates the effect of pack size from everything else. All six have every size in stock on the pull date.

Four patterns sit in that table. Real break: Honeydew Melon and Citronella get much cheaper per gram at 500 g and 1 kg. Citronella is the extreme case: its 100 g is ₹7.67 a gram and its kilo ₹2.89, a 62.3% saving. Flat: Lavender moves only from ₹5.40 to ₹5.22, so eight kilos save 3.3% against 100 g bottles. Inverted: Love Spell and Pomegranate Splash are fractionally cheapest in the 100 g, and Love Spell's 500 g is its dearest size per gram. 500 g exception: Saffron Cedarwood's 500 g is ₹5.17 a gram against ₹6.87 for its kilo, so sixteen 500 g bottles cost ₹13,593.60 less than eight kilos.
Across the whole catalogue, the pattern is mostly flat. Of 91 oils that list both a 100 g and a 1 kg, 52 price the kilo within 1% of the 100 g per gram. Only 24 show a saving of 5% or more, and a few 1 kg packs cost fractionally more per gram than the 100 g: Dahlia (BBW Inspired) by 0.3%, Love Spell and Pomegranate Splash by 0.2%. The one step that holds for almost every oil is at the bottom of the ladder: 15 g carries a median 23.1% premium over the same oil's 100 g. Above 100 g, buying bigger mostly buys convenience and stock security, not a lower rate.
What "larger bulk" means at CSI
CSI's listed fragrance sizes stop at 1 kg per oil. There is no 5 kg or 25 kg listing. Anything above the listed packs is quoted individually on WhatsApp, and CSI publishes no volume discount figure. That makes the decision two-sided: the listed kilo price is known, the quote is not, and the only fair comparison is per gram.

When a quote comes back, compare it with the listed kilo rate, not with the 100 g. For Honeydew Melon, the kilo is already ₹3.40 a gram. On 8 kg, every 1% below that is worth ₹271.87. A quote at the same per-gram rate as the kilo has no price advantage, and may still be worth taking for handling or delivery reasons. A quote above the kilo rate is a reason to buy the listed kilos. Do not accept or reject a quote without that arithmetic.

For Honeydew Melon, eight kilos and a 500 g is the sensible order: ₹403.56 more than the tightest cover, nine bottles instead of fifteen, and 220 g of spare, enough for about 26 more candles. Buying it all in 100 g bottles would cost ₹7,657.02 more. That is the one case where the answer to the title is emphatically "buy the kilos".

The priced order
Wax for 1,000 × 100 g at 8% is 92,000 g net, 94,760 g with 3% loss and 95,220 g with the five test candles. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is priced at ₹507.40 a kilo at every bag size and is rated up to 10% fragrance, so 8% sits inside it. Natural Soy Pearl Wax is the one CSI wax with a real listed bulk step: ₹450.00 a kilo in 1 kg, ₹424.80 in 5, 10 and 50 kg, a 5.6% break, and two 50 kg bags cost ₹42,480.00. No fragrance ceiling is published for it in this data, so check the product page or ask on WhatsApp before running 8% in it.

That is ₹82.90 per saleable candle for oil, wax and wick, before jars, labour, packaging, freight and GST. Jars are your own 100 g container. CSI does not publish fill weights for most of its jars; the Golden Aluminium Tin is listed at an 85 g fill, not 100 g. At almost 100 kg of wax and 8 kg of oil, a WhatsApp quote for the whole order is the sensible next step. Wick size for your jar is not published; confirm it in the test candles.
