₹3,032.60
the pastel kit: 9 colour pucks + 15 candles · British Rose, Chunks, red dye, two wicks · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What should I buy? Chunks, British Rose, red liquid dye 15 g, Eco Thin C1, Cotton Braided, 15 Yankee jars, stickers — ₹3,032.60 in CSI materials.

How much red dye for pastel pink? Take D from the red dye's product page (CSI's data carries none, and this page invents none) and test ⅛ D, ¼ D and ½ D at every load.

Why test them together? The oil's own colour moves the shade with load, and the dye is commonly found to change how a wick burns. One-at-a-time tests undo each other.

How many candles? 9 pucks + 15 candles, against 54 candles for every combination.
The short answer
Answer: Buy one wax (Chunks), one oil (British Rose, for 6/8/10%), red liquid dye, two wicks and clear Yankee jars. Choose the dye step on cold pucks at every load, then burn loads × wicks at that step with undyed controls. ₹3,032.60.
Why: Load, dye and wick interact: oil colour shifts the pink, dye shifts the burn, load shifts both. CSI publishes no dye dose, dye-burn or throw data.
Method: Colour grid (3 loads × ⅛ D/¼ D/½ D) → burn matrix (3 loads × 2 wicks) + undyed controls + shelf → full-life → production with dye = D* × wax. The hub method.
Pastel pink: three factors, tested in the order they interact British Rose · Luxury Soy Wax Chunks · red liquid dye at low steps of its page dose (D) · 100 g fill in the Yankee 130 ml jar 1 · COLOUR GRID (cold, no wick) ⅛ D ¼ D ½ D 6% load 8% load 10% load Pick the lowest step that gives your pink at each load 2 · BURN MATRIX AT THE CHOSEN STEP Eco Thin C1 Cotton Braided 6% · dyed 8% · dyed 10% · dyed 8% · undyed + 1 dyed 10% shelf candle for fading and sweating 9 pucks + 15 candles instead of 54 candles for every load × dye step × wick. Colour is chosen before anything is lit, because the oil's own colour and the load both change the shade; the undyed controls show what the dye changed in the burn.
Stage 1 chooses the dye step cold at each of three loads, because the oil's own colour moves the pink. Stage 2 burns all three loads with both wicks at the chosen step, beside undyed 8% controls and a dyed 10% shelf candle. 9 pucks and 15 candles instead of 54 candles.
Straight answer
I want to make a pastel-pink rose soy candle — what should I buy to test fragrance load, dye concentration and wick performance together?
One wax, one rose oil, a red dye, two wicks and clear jars — and a test that chooses colour cold before anything is lit. Buy Chunks (page: up to 13%), British Rose for 6%, 8% and 10%, Candle Dye Liquid Red 15 g, Eco Thin C1 and Cotton Braided, 15 Yankee 130 ml jars (fill not published — this page uses a labelled 100 g) and stickers: ₹3,032.60. Pink comes from red at a low step of the dose on the dye's own page (D): pour nine pucks — ⅛ D, ¼ D, ½ D at each load — and choose the lowest step that gives your pink, because the oil's colour moves it. Then burn every load with both wicks at that step, two candles each, beside undyed controls: 15 candles instead of 54.
One line: choose colour cold, at the load you will sell; choose the wick hot, in that colour.
The pastel-pink kit on this page — a nine-puck colour grid and 15 candles testing British Rose at 6%, 8% and 10%, a red dye step chosen from its page dose, and two wicks — costs ₹3,032.60 in CSI materials. Pink comes from Candle Dye Liquid Red at a low dose: ₹236.00 for 15 g.

Three variables that will not sit still

In a pastel candle, the fragrance changes the colour, the colour changes the burn, and the load changes both.

A pastel-pink rose candle looks like a simple brief. It is the hardest of the three-factor problems in this cluster, because each variable leaks into the others. Many fragrance oils carry some colour of their own, so the load you choose moves the shade a pale dye is trying to hit. The dye is extra material in the wax, so in general practice the wick is commonly re-checked once colour is added. And the load changes the burn as well as the throw. Test them one at a time and the second test undoes the first.

So the title's instinct is right: test fragrance load, dye concentration and wick performance together. The trick is to do it without testing every combination — 3 loads × 3 dye steps × 2 wicks × 3 candles would be 54 candles. Instead, the colour is chosen cold on small pucks at every load, so the oil's effect on colour is captured without lighting anything, and only then are loads and wicks burned at the chosen colour, beside undyed controls.

The CSI principle
Let colour be chosen cold and the wick be chosen hot — but always at the load that will be sold.
Every dye step is judged at each load, because the oil moves the colour. Every wick is judged in the dyed wax, because the dye moves the burn.

Pink from red: the low-dose ladder

CSI's dye range has no pink listed. A pastel pink comes from a small amount of red in white wax: Candle Dye Liquid Red (₹236.00 for 15 g, ₹472.00 for 50 ml, ₹900.00 for 100 g) or Red Dye Chips (₹250.00). CSI's data carries no dose figure for any dye, and this page invents none. Open the red dye's product page and note the dose it states — call it D. A full D is aimed at a full colour; a pastel lives far below it. The kit's ladder is ⅛ D, ¼ D and ½ D. If ⅛ D is already too strong, halve again; if ½ D is too pale, add ¾ D in a second round.

D = the dose on the red dye's product page · dye quantity = step × D × wax weight · fill in your own figure
How much red each part of the kit needs
Part Dyed wax (incl. 5%) Red at the highest step Your figure
Colour grid (9 pucks of 20 g) 173.9 g ½ D × 0.058 kg per load row _____
Burn candles + shelf, dyed 1,253.7 g chosen step × D × 1.254 kg _____
Whole kit 1,427.6 g at most ½ D × 1.428 kg _____
Production, 75 candles (example) 7,755.1 g D* × 7.755 kg _____

At pastel steps the kit dyes at most 1.43 kg of wax at no more than half the page dose, so one 15 g bottle is very likely enough for the kit — but multiply your own D out before relying on that. Liquid dye is easier to split into small, repeatable doses than chips, which is why the kit uses it; if you prefer chips, build the same ladder from the chips' page dose. Weigh every dose; a pastel made by eye cannot be repeated on the next batch.

The shortcut: one drop "until it looks pink" in the jug. Molten wax looks different from set wax, and soy's colour commonly shifts during cure. A pink chosen hot is often a different pink a week later. Fix: weigh the dye against D, pour pucks, and choose from set pucks at 48 hours and 7 days, in daylight, against a white card.

The jar: clear glass, so the colour shows

A pastel needs clear glass — CSI's White Matte jar would hide it. This kit uses the Yankee Glass Jar 130 ml, clear cap at ₹47.20 each, with a clear cap. Its fill weight is not published; 130 ml is its brim volume. At a commonly used approximation of about 0.86–0.90 g of wax per ml (an assumption that varies by wax and temperature), the brim would hold roughly 112 g–117 g, so this page uses a labelled working fill of 100 g. Confirm it with a weighed pour. At 100 g, each candle is 6 g / 8 g / 10 g of oil at 6% / 8% / 10% (CSI convention: load is a share of the finished weight).

Pastels show every flaw
Soy is commonly described as prone to frosting, and frosting is more visible on coloured candles than on white. CSI's pages make no frosting claims for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks; the shelf candle and the 7-day photographs are how you find out. If frosting is your reject line, the vanilla post shows how a second wax can be added to a later purchase.

The three-factor kit

The wax is held fixed — Chunks, whose page states a 13% maximum, so 10% has headroom — and so is the oil, British Rose, near the top of CSI's best-selling sort and buyable from 15 g. That leaves exactly the three variables in the title. Stage 1 is the colour grid: every dye step at every load, nine 20 g pucks, no wicks. Stage 2 burns the chosen step at all three loads with both wicks, two candles each, plus an undyed 8% control for each wick and one dyed 10% shelf candle: 15 candles.

British Rose's 143.2 g comes as 1 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g for ₹554.60; its 15 g is ₹6.29 a gram and its 100 g ₹3.42, so the 100 g carries most of the kit. Chunks are cheapest as 4 × 500 g (₹1,196.00). The Yankee jars are sold singly at ₹47.20, so there is no pack rounding — buy exactly 15, plus any you will use for the fill check. Each wick type is used in 7 candles plus two spares: an Eco Thin C1 20-pack (the 10-pack is out of stock) and a Cotton Braided 10-pack; the shelf candle takes a spare of the winner.

Running the two stages

1
Pour the nine pucksFor each load (6%, 8%, 10%), three 20 g pucks at ⅛ D, ¼ D and ½ D, with British Rose in the mix so its own colour is part of the result. Chunks' page states oil addition at 80–90°C and pour at 75–80°C in its spec table (the step list also shows 70–80°C).
2
Choose the step for each load, coldAt 48 hours and 7 days (labelled checkpoints), in daylight, against a white card and your colour reference. The step for each load is the lowest one that reaches your pink. Expect the answer to differ between loads if the oil carries colour — that is exactly why the grid has three rows.
3
Pour the burn matrixAt each load, its chosen step: two candles with Eco Thin C1, two with Cotton Braided. Add one undyed 8% control per wick and one dyed 10% shelf candle. Number and weigh every candle.
4
Burn in matched cycles3–4 hour cycles with full cool-down (a commonly used working practice). Record time to full pool, pool depth, flame height, mushrooming, soot on a white card, jar-side reading — and compare the 8% dyed candles with their undyed controls.
5
Score throw blind at equal cure0–5 at a fixed spot after a fixed time. The answer is the lowest load that clears your throw floor with a wick that passes every safety line.
6
Watch the shelf candle and the topsPastels show fading, frosting and sweating first. Photograph the shelf candle and one candle from each load at 7 and 14 days in the same light. A colour that fades on a sunny shelf is a storage instruction for your customers, or a reason to choose a different step.

Safety is never traded for colour or throw: "no worse than the undyed control and the other wick, within your jar supplier's guidance and the recognised candle fire-safety standard you work to" (ASTM F2417 is a commonly cited US standard). If the only load that clears your throw floor needs a wick that runs hotter, the answer is a different step, load or wick — not that candle.

The production list, once all three are fixed

Three answers come out of the kit. Only together do they make a purchase order.

The example below is a labelled run of 75 candles with the example result: 8% British Rose, Eco Thin C1, Chunks, in the Yankee jar. The allowance stack is the series order: 2 QC candles, ÷ (1 − 5%) for rejects (pastels are judged closely, so the example reject rate is higher), + 4% pour loss on wax and oil, + 2% breakage on glass, then real CSI packs. The dye line is a formula: D* × the production wax.

The jars are the biggest line in this candle — ₹3,917.60 for 83 singles — and they do not change with load, dye or wick, so they are the one production line that can be ordered with confidence once the fill is confirmed. The 15-SKU post and the standardisation post show how one colour step and one wick can serve several SKUs.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. The pastel step is a fraction of the page dose, so a 15 g bottle of red goes a long way — and a cheaper rose may be the right one. British Rose at 8% gives a material cost of ₹136.20 before dye; Smoked Rose Royale (100 g minimum, ₹8.00 a gram) would make it ₹174.69. We publish no throw or colour data that would justify the dearer oil for a pastel. If 6% passes your sheet, every candle is ₹5.17 cheaper than at 8%.

The November–February wedding season follows Diwali (Sunday 8 November 2026), and pastel pink is a wedding and gifting colour. The deep end of the same problem is the black oud post, where the load is fixed and the dye ladder runs up to the page dose. For a custom colour across a large wedding order, the custom-colour post sizes the extra dye and wax. Rose favours in published-fill containers are in the wedding-favour pilot, and the brief → kit → production method is in the lavender hub.

In a pastel candle the oil is part of the colour and the colour is part of the fuel. Test them where they meet.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We sell the dye and the dearer rose. This page tells you a pastel uses a small fraction of the dye's page dose, that the cheaper rose is a fair choice, and that a lower load is cheaper in every candle if it passes.

Wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026. Oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026. Wick and jar prices are re-checked 4 October 2026; dye prices CSI live pricing, pulled 24–25 September 2026. Splits, pack rounding, kit and production totals and per-candle costs are arithmetic shown to two decimals; dye quantities are formulas because the dose is the dye page's.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make pastel pink candle wax?
Use a small amount of red dye in white wax. Take the dose from the red dye's product page, test fractions of it (⅛, ¼, ½) in set pucks, and choose the lowest step that gives your pink in daylight at 48 hours and 7 days.
Does fragrance oil change candle colour?
Many fragrance oils carry some colour of their own, so the load can move a pale shade. CSI publishes no colour data for its oils — that is why the colour grid tests every dye step at every load.
Does dye affect how a candle burns?
Dyed candles are commonly re-tested with their wick in general practice, because the dye is extra material in the wax. Compare dyed candles with an undyed control on the same wick.
Does CSI sell pink candle dye?
No pink dye is listed. Pink comes from Candle Dye Liquid Red (₹236.00 for 15 g) or Red Dye Chips (₹250.00) at a low dose.
Why does my pink soy candle look patchy or white on top?
Soy is commonly described as prone to frosting, which shows more on coloured candles. CSI makes no frosting claims for its waxes; photograph tops at 7 and 14 days and treat frosting as a reject line in your test.
How many test candles do I need to test load, dye and wick together?
Choosing colour on cold pucks first cuts it sharply: this kit uses 9 pucks and 15 candles against 54 for every combination.
Colour cold, wick hot
Choose the pink at the load you will sell. Approve the wick in that pink.

"Verified buyer" appears only on the three reviews Judge.me recorded as verified — Monika Deep, Subhankar Roy and Sneha Tamang; the reviews from Ashwini, LJ and Lalitha Jagan are published but not recorded as verified, and carry no badge.

Non-price figures and assumptions: CSI convention: fragrance load is a share of the finished candle weight (100 g at 6% / 8% / 10% = 6 g / 8 g / 10 g oil). What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%, fragrance addition 80–90°C, pour 75–80°C in the spec table (the step list also shows 70–80°C), cure minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — fragrance load up to 10%, an 80–90°C melt/pour working range in the spec table, shelf life 60 months cool and dry; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — melting point 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C, fragrance load up to 13%, shelf life 60 months cool and dry; Natural Soy Pearl — no melt point, pour temperature, fragrance ceiling or shelf life published. The Yankee jar's fill is not published; 130 ml is brim volume and the 0.86–0.90 g/ml factor and 100 g fill are labelled assumptions. CSI publishes no dye doses, colour, frosting, dye-burn, throw or wick-per-diameter data and no numeric safety limits; ASTM F2417 is named only as a commonly cited standard. Puck size, dye steps, candle counts, burn cycles, cure checkpoints, allowances, the 75-candle run and the label figure are labelled assumptions or examples. Material costs exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
