Frosted glass hides wet spots on the wall; it does not hide the top of the candle or a weak process. Here is what to check on a sample pack, what CSI actually has in stock by colour, and what frosting costs before you buy a hundred.
3 of 5
200 ml frosted colours in stock on 26 September 2026 (Clear, Black, Blue) · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Do frosted jars hide wax imperfections? Wall defects, mostly: wet spots, small bubbles and uneven adhesion are much harder to see through frosted or matte glass. They do not hide the top surface: sinkholes, rough tops and wax bloom on the surface stay visible when the lid is off.

What should I check before buying frosted jars wholesale? Seven things: that the finish is what the listing says, coating durability, colour consistency between packs, stock depth for that exact colour, fit and fill, label adhesion on the frosted surface, and burn behaviour including repeated heating.

Is CSI's frosted range deep enough to build on? Partly. On 26 September 2026, three of the five 200 ml frosted colours are in stock (Clear, Black, Blue); Brown and Orange are sold out, and two in-stock pages describe a matte jar. Ask how many are available before you design a range around one colour.

What does frosted cost? ₹70.80 per 200 ml jar at 5 or 10, with no pack discount and no lid; ₹41.30 more per jar than the 200ml Salsa clear jar at 50 or more.
The short answer
What it hides: the side wall, which is where wet spots show. Not the top, not the wax colour entirely, and not a poorly made candle.
What to check: finish as described, coating durability (scratch, wash, oil, alcohol, heat), colour match across packs, stock depth, fit and fill, label adhesion, burn.
The stock picture: 200 ml frosted: 3 of 5 colours in stock; 200 ml matte: 9 of 10; 70 g matte votives: 1 of 4; 50 g velvet heart: 1 of 2.
The money: 100 frosted jars are ₹7,080.00; the same number of Salsa clear jars is ₹2,950.00. On defect-hiding alone, frosting pays for itself only if it saves about 38 clear-glass seconds per 100 (before oil).
CSI's frosted and matte range: what you can reorder Every frosted, matte, coated or velvet glass listing by colour, stock as shown on 26 September 2026. In stock means buyable that day, not a quantity: ask how many before a wholesale order. 200 ml FROSTED · 8 × 7 cm · ₹70.80 per jar at 5 or 10 Clear in stock Black in stock ! Blue in stock ! Every CSI glass listing with a frosted, matte, coated or velvet finish, by colour, as the store showed it on 26 September 2026. Filled cells are buyable; dashed cells are sold out; a "!" marks a page whose description contradicts its own title on finish or colour. The frosted row is the thinnest for reorders; the matte row, same jar and price, has the most colours to fall back on.
Straight answer
I want to use frosted jars to hide minor wax imperfections. What should I check before buying them in wholesale quantities?
First, be clear what frosting hides: it hides the side wall, which is where wet spots and small adhesion faults show, but not the top surface, and not a badly made candle. Then check seven things on a sample pack before you buy in quantity. One: that the jar is the finish its title says (two of CSI's in-stock "frosted" pages describe a matte jar). Two: coating durability, with a scratch, wash, fragrance-oil, alcohol-wipe and repeated-heating test. Three: colour consistency between packs and deliveries. Four: stock depth for that exact colour (on 26 September 2026, Frosted Brown and Orange Frosted are sold out, and "in stock" on a website is not a quantity). Five: fill weight and wick fit in the jar you actually receive. Six: that your label sticks to the frosted surface. Seven: a full burn, since frosted glass shows heat and soot differently. CSI's 200 ml frosted jars are ₹70.80 each at 5 or 10, with no pack discount and no lid, so budget for a box. Buy one pack of 5 per candidate colour, run the checks, confirm quantity on WhatsApp, then order the whole run in one go.
One line: frosting hides the wall, not the process; test the finish and confirm the stock before you buy a hundred.
Sample three finishes for ₹1,062.00. One pack of 5 each of Clear Frosted, Black Frosted and White Matte, all ₹70.80 per jar and in stock on 26 September 2026. Pour the same wax into all fifteen and let the jars show you which hides your process best.
Start with Clear Frosted

What frosting hides, and what it does not

Frosted glass is a curtain over the wall. It is not a filter over the whole candle.

A frosted or matte surface scatters light, so you no longer see a sharp image of the wax through the glass. A wet spot, which in clear glass is an obvious glossy patch, usually becomes no more than a faint change in tone. That is the whole case for frosting in a range where soy's wet spots are hard to avoid; the causes and the process fixes for clear glass are in the clear-glass wet-spot guide.

A word on names: "frosted glass" is the jar's surface. "Frosting" on wax is the white crystalline bloom natural waxes can develop. Frosted glass hides the second only where it forms against the wall; bloom on the top of the candle is fully visible once the lid, if any, is off. CSI 464's page claims "reduced frosting" for the wax; that is about the bloom, not the glass.

Clear versus frosted or matte · what a customer can see
Defect by defect, unlit and lit
Defect Clear glass Frosted or matte glass
Wet spots on the wall Clearly visible Largely hidden; a faint tone change is possible on pale frosts, especially lit
Small air bubbles at the wall Visible Mostly hidden
Jump lines from a second pour Visible Softened; may show as a band when lit
Uneven wax colour or dye streaks Visible Softened on clear frost; hidden on dark or opaque finishes
Sinkholes, rough or cratered tops Visible from above Equally visible from above
Wax bloom on the top surface Visible Equally visible
Soot on the inner wall after burning Visible Can be more visible on white or pale matte; less on dark
Fingerprints and oil drips on the outside Wipe off easily Can mark a textured or coated surface; test

The last two rows are the ones makers do not expect. A pale frosted or white matte wall can make soot after a few burns more noticeable, and a coated surface can hold a fragrance-oil fingerprint that clear glass would not. Both are reasons to test before a wholesale order, not reasons to avoid frosting.

Argued against our own interest: frosting is the right answer to a few wet spots and the wrong answer to a process that makes many. If most of your clear-glass candles show large wet spots, sinkholes and bubbles, a frosted jar hides the wall and leaves the top, the burn and the reviews unchanged. Fix the process first (clean, warm jars, pour inside the limits, cool slowly), then choose frosted for the look, not as a cover.

CSI's frosted and matte range, colour by colour

Wholesale buying is a bet on reordering. Here is exactly what the frosted-style range looked like on 26 September 2026, including the gaps.

CSI frosted, matte, coated and velvet glass listings · verified 26 September 2026
Stock, price and what to confirm
Family In stock Sold out Per jar Confirm before ordering
200 ml frosted, 8 × 7 cm, no lid Clear Frosted, Black Frosted, Frosted Blue Frosted Brown, Orange Frosted ₹70.80 at 5 or 10 Black Frosted page says "Black Matte"; Frosted Blue page says "Royal Blue Matte"
200 ml matte, same shape and wording White, Black, Brown, Green, Purple, Red, Royal Blue, Orange, Maroon Pink ₹70.80 at 5 or 10 Maroon page says "White Matte Glass Jar"
70 g votive, "externally frosted", "external coating" White Matte Votive; Clear Glass Votive and Pink Glass Votive (see right) Purple, Brown and Pink matte votives ₹31.86; Pink Glass ₹36.00 Clear and Pink Glass votive pages describe an "externally frosted purple matte" jar
50 g velvet heart cutout Red White ₹45.00 at 1, 5 or 10 Page does not mention colour

Three practical conclusions. First, the 200 ml frosted row has the thinnest reorder cover: two of five colours are already gone. Second, the matte row is the same jar, price and wording in nine in-stock colours, which is the safer base for a range that must be reordered for years. Third, where a page's description contradicts its title, ask us which finish ships and write the answer on your spec sheet; reordering "Black Frosted" when you approved a matte black is how a range drifts.

None of these pages says whether the finish is acid-etched or a sprayed coating, except the 70 g votives, which say "external coating". Etched and coated finishes can respond differently to heat and cleaning, which is why the coating tests below matter; the repeated-heating protocol for coatings is in the frosted-coating heat test.

Seven checks before you buy in quantity

Run these on one pack of 5 per candidate colour. Everything here is our judgement of what a wholesale buyer should confirm, not a CSI specification.

1
Finish as described. Is it frosted, matte or glossy in your hand, and is the finish even all round, including near the base and rim? Photograph it next to the listing. Where the page contradicts itself, get the answer in writing on WhatsApp.
2
Coating durability. Scratch, wash, fragrance-oil, alcohol-wipe and heat tests on two jars (details in the next section). A finish that marks on the bench will mark in a customer's kitchen.
3
Colour and tone match. Line up all five jars under daylight and under warm indoor light, unlit and lit. Any jar you would not put next to the others on a shelf is a warning about batch variation.
4
Stock depth. Ask how many of that exact colour can ship now and whether it can come from one lot. "In stock" on a website means buyable that day, not a quantity. If the answer is fewer than your season needs, choose a colour with depth.
5
Fill and fit. Water-fill to your fill line and weigh, test-pour, and measure the inside diameter for your wick bracket. The 200 ml family's "fill weight of 200 ml" and "width 7 cm" need measuring; the worked example is in the 200 ml jar hub.
6
Label adhesion. Apply your actual label to the frosted surface, leave it for a few days through normal temperature swings, and check the edges. Textured and coated surfaces can hold labels differently from smooth glass.
7
Full burn. Burn at least two sample candles down to your stop line (many makers stop with about 1 cm of wax left), watching the jar's heat, soot on the inner wall and any change to the finish. None of the frosted or matte pages states a numeric heat rating.

Coating durability: five bench tests in an afternoon

Ten minutes with a coin and a cotton pad tells you more than any finish description.

These are quick screening tests for a buying decision, not a lab protocol. Use two jars you are prepared to sacrifice and test a small area first.

1. Scratch. Drag a fingernail, then the edge of a coin, across the frosted surface with firm pressure. An etched surface tends to shrug this off; a coating that lifts, shines or shows the clear glass underneath will do the same in a customer's hands.

2. Wash. Wash one jar in warm soapy water with a sponge, dry it and compare with an untouched jar. Customers clean their jars to reuse them; if the finish dulls or streaks, it will do so after the candle is gone and your brand is still on the shelf.

3. Fragrance oil. Put a drop of your fragrance oil on the outside, leave it for an hour, wipe it off. Drips down the outside happen in production. Look for a dark mark, a softened patch or a stain that does not wipe away.

4. Alcohol wipe. Wipe a small patch with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton pad, a common way to clean glass before pouring. Check the pad for colour and the jar for a dull patch. If the finish comes off, you cannot clean these jars that way.

5. Heat. Pour and burn the candle, then look at the finish near the top rim and around the melt pool after several burns. Coatings can respond to heat differently from etched glass, and the change may appear only after repeated heating; the full repeated-burn protocol is in I Want to Use Frosted Glass Candle Jars — How Do I Test Whether the Coating Can Tolerate Repeated Heating?.

Record the result, not the impression
Photograph every test jar next to an untouched control under the same light, before and after. When you reorder next year, you will compare the new delivery with those photos rather than with a memory of "it seemed fine".

Colour consistency between packs and deliveries

Coloured and frosted glass can vary between production lots: a slightly different shade, a denser or lighter frost. On a single candle nobody notices. On a shelf of twelve, or in a corporate order of 200 identical gift boxes, a visibly different jar is a complaint.

Keep a reference jar. Keep two approved jars from your first order, unpoured, as the colour standard. Compare every new delivery with them under the same light.

Buy the run in one go. CSI's 200 ml frosted and matte jars are priced flat per jar (₹70.80 at 5 or 10), so there is no price reason to split an order, and one order is more likely to come from one lot. Ask on WhatsApp whether your quantity can ship together.

Mix deliberately, never by accident. If a second delivery differs slightly, keep it for a different product or a different month's stock rather than mixing jars from two lots in one order or one display.

How clear, amber, frosted and coloured glass compare on production consistency overall, including coating variation, is the subject of the finish-consistency comparison.

What frosted costs, and when it pays

Frosted jars cost more than clear, and CSI's 200 ml frosted jars come without a lid. Both belong in the decision.

Worked example · 100 jars, verified prices 26 September 2026
Frosted versus clear, and what frosting would have to save
Item 200 ml frosted 200ml Salsa clear, lug cap
Per jar ₹70.80 (5 or 10 per pack) ₹29.50 (50 or 100 per pack)
100 jars ₹7,080.00 (10 packs of 10) ₹2,950.00 (100 Pcs)
Frosted premium ₹41.30 per jar, 140% more; ₹4,130.00 per 100 —
Lid None mentioned on the page 63 mm lug cap included
One clear candle sold as seconds (jar + 138 g CSI 464 + C2 wick, before oil) — ₹108.96
Seconds per 100 that frosting must prevent to pay its premium, before oil about 38

Read the last row carefully. On materials alone, frosting pays for itself only if it rescues about 38 candles per 100 that would otherwise be seconds in clear glass. Add fragrance oil, labour and packaging to each second and the break-even falls, but it rarely falls to the handful of wet spots a careful maker gets. The honest conclusion: choose frosted because the look suits your brand and it hides the occasional wet spot, not as a financial fix for a poor pour. The two jars are also different shapes, so the comparison is about cost, not like-for-like looks. Costs exclude oil, labour, freight, packaging and GST.

Budget for the missing lid. A frosted jar sold as a gift usually needs a box. CSI's Corrugated Box for Candle Packaging (11 x 11 x 8 cm) is ₹1,121.00 for 50 or ₹2,242.00 for 100 (₹22.42 per box either way), taking a frosted jar plus box to ₹93.22, just ₹1.18 less than the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) at ₹94.40, which comes with a lid but shows every wet spot. The box is listed as 8 cm deep and the jar as 8 cm tall, so it may leave no room for top padding or may not close at all: test a sample before ordering both, or price the larger 7 × 5 × 4 inch box instead.

Argued against our own interest: do not buy 200 frosted jars on the strength of a photo. Buy ₹708.00 of samples in two colours, run the seven checks, and only then order in quantity. If the samples fail the alcohol-wipe or label test, you have lost a week, not a season.

Frosted, matte and velvet jars to sample

Five in-stock jars covering the frosted, matte, coated and velvet finishes, with every pack size. Frosted Blue (₹70.80 per jar, same wording as Black Frosted, description says "Royal Blue Matte") is the third frosted colour in stock.

200 ml frosted · the neutral one
Clear Frosted Glass Jar
The page says "fill weight of 200 ml", "Height 8 cm width 7 cm", that "Its durability allows it to withstand high heat" (no figure) and nothing about how the frost is made; no lid is mentioned. A clear frost diffuses the view of the wall while still showing the wax colour softly, which is the look most makers mean by "frosted to hide wet spots". For minimal and pastel ranges. Limitation: it hides wall defects best when the wax is pale; strongly coloured wax can show blotches more.

Black Frosted Glass Jar
Same stated size and wording as the clear frost, but the description calls it a "Black Matte Glass Jar", so the page does not settle whether you get a frosted or a matte black; confirm on WhatsApp before ordering in quantity. A dark, near-opaque wall can hide wet spots almost completely from outside. For moody, masculine or evening ranges. Limitation: the Black Matte listing may be the same jar or a different finish; if you reorder by listing name, you must know which you approved.

200 ml matte · the in-stock depth
White Matte Glass Jar
Not called frosted, but a matte white wall hides wall defects in a similar way. It is one of nine 200 ml matte colours in stock on 26 September 2026 (White, Black, Brown, Green, Purple, Red, Royal Blue, Orange, Maroon; Pink is sold out), all at the same price and wording, which gives more colour options to fall back on than the frosted row. A CSI customer's review of this jar reads: "Nice glass jars, they look cute." For brands that want a soft, bright opaque look. Limitation: a white wall can show soot and fingerprints more than a clear frost does.

70 g votive · the family that says "coating"
White Matte Votive Jar 70 gram
The page says "externally frosted white matte", "Finish: Matte white (external coating)", "Capacity: ~70g wax fill" and "Thick, durable glass". The 70 g votive pages are the only CSI frosted-style pages that state the finish is a coating, which makes the repeated-heating test especially worth running. Its sister votives in Purple, Brown and Pink matte are sold out, and the "Clear Glass Votive" and "Pink Glass Votive" pages describe an "externally frosted purple matte" jar, so do not order those by title alone. For sample sizes and wedding favours. Limitation: no dimensions stated.

Heart Cutout Velvet Candle Jar – 50g Wax Capacity (Red)
The page describes a "Frosted velvet finish with heart-shaped cutout" that "glows beautifully once your candle is lit", 5.3 cm diameter and 4.3 cm height (not stated as inside or outside), and "holds up to 50 grams of wax". The White version is sold out. For gifting and Valentine's ranges where the jar is the decoration. Limitation: the cut-out is a design feature, not a hiding one; wax through the heart is fully visible.

Who should buy frosted wholesale: makers whose process is under control and who want a soft, diffused look that forgives the occasional wet spot; brands whose range is built on pale or neutral wax. Who should wait: anyone still getting large wet spots in most jars (fix the pour first), anyone who needs a lidded jar without adding a box, and anyone whose chosen colour is one of the thin-stock frosted shades.
Diwali 8 November 2026 is 43 days after 26 September 2026. The CSI principle
Buy frosted for the look, test it like a component, and confirm the stock like a contract.
A frosted wall hides wet spots, not the process. Check the finish, the coating, the colour and the quantity on a sample pack before a wholesale order, and order the run from one lot when you can.
"Frosting hides the wall. The top of the candle, the burn and the reorder still have to be right."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the frosted, matte and velvet jars named here and does not sell finished candles. This page shows you which of our frosted colours are sold out, which of our pages contradict their own titles, that none of our frosted pages says how the frost is made, and that frosting rarely pays for itself on defect-hiding alone.

Every price and per-jar figure was verified on CSI's live store on 26 September 2026; every pack in the pick tables is in stock on that date, and every sold-out colour is named. Finish, capacity and heat wording is quoted from the product pages.

What frosting hides and the coating tests are general guidance and our judgement, not CSI test data; the break-even seconds figure is a worked example on stated prices. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Do frosted candle jars hide wet spots?
Mostly, yes: frosted and matte glass scatter light, so wet spots on the side wall become hard to see. They do not hide the top surface, and a pale frost may show a faint tone change when lit.
How do I test frosted glass jars before buying in bulk?
On a pack of 5: check the finish matches the listing, then run scratch, wash, fragrance-oil, alcohol-wipe and burn tests, compare colour across jars, test your label, measure fill and diameter, and confirm stock depth for that colour.
Are CSI frosted jars etched or coated?
The 200 ml frosted pages do not say. Only the 70 g matte votives state "external coating". Run the coating tests on your samples, and ask on WhatsApp if the method matters for your labelling.
Which frosted jar colours does CSI have in stock?
On 26 September 2026, 200 ml Clear Frosted, Black Frosted and Frosted Blue are in stock; Frosted Brown and Orange Frosted are sold out. Nine 200 ml matte colours are in stock at the same ₹70.80 per jar.
Is there a bulk discount on frosted candle jars?
Not on the listed packs: CSI's 200 ml frosted jars are ₹70.80 per jar in a pack of 5 or 10. For larger quantities, ask on WhatsApp for a quote and whether the order can come from one lot.
Do frosted jars come with lids?
CSI's 200 ml frosted and matte pages mention no lid. Budget for a box if you sell them as gifts; the 11 x 11 x 8 cm corrugated box is ₹22.42 each in a pack of 50.
