There are three honest ways to define a premium fragrance oil, and 76 CSI listings satisfy at least one of them. Four satisfy all three — and not one of the 22 dearest kilos publishes a measured flash point.

Nobody issues a premium grade for fragrance oil. There are only three things you can actually check on a page — what it costs, what it calls itself, and how completely it describes itself — and they agree far less often than the word suggests.
4 of 107
CSI fragrance listings satisfy all three checkable definitions of premium · 76 satisfy at least one · the 22 dearest live kilos run ₹8,400 to ₹24,056, which is ₹126 to ₹360.84 of oil inside a 150 g gift candle at a 10% load · none of those 22 publishes a measured flash point · CSI live stock, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What makes a fragrance oil premium? Three things you can verify: a price in the top quartile (22 live kilos at ₹8,400 and above), the page describing itself as perfume-grade or a fine perfume oil (32 listings), and a full three-tier note pyramid (45 listings). Seventy-six listings meet at least one. Four meet all three.

What does premium add to a candle? In a 150 g gift candle at a 10% load — 15 g of oil — the tier costs ₹126 to ₹360.84, against ₹75.40 for a mid-range Sandalwood. On a fully costed candle that moves the oil from 29% to between 41% and 54% of the material bill.

Do premium oils publish more? Less, oddly. Of the 22 dearest live kilos, none publishes a measured flash point, only 14 answer the discolouration question and only 7 print a full note pyramid. All 18 measured flash points in the CSI range sit on oils priced ₹7,646 a kilo or below.

How do I try one cheaply? Only three of the 22 offer a 15 g bottle — Gilli Mitti ₹140, Santal Noir ₹166 and Tangerine ₹199. Fourteen start at 50 g and five at 100 g, where the entry price runs to ₹1,499.
The short answer
Premium is a price and a description, never a measurement: no certificate, grade or authority sits behind the word. Ask instead which specific fields the page publishes, and whether you could hold the supplier to them six months later.
Cost it in the candle you will actually sell: at 15 g in a 150 g gift candle the tier adds ₹126 to ₹360.84. That is a shelf-price decision, not a quality decision, and it is decided before you smell anything.
Buy the smallest listed bottle first: three of the 22 dearest kilos offer a 15 g trial. Where the floor is 50 g or 100 g, that floor is the real price of finding out.

Three checkable definitions of "premium" — and how little they overlap Price: top quartile kilo 22 listings · ₹8,400 to ₹24,056 per kg Page calls itself so 32 listings · "perfume-grade" or "fine perfume oil" Full note pyramid 45 listings · top, heart and base all published All three at once 4 listings Measured flash point 0 of the 22 dearest kilos — all 18 measured values sit at ₹7,646 / kg or below Bar length = number of listings. 76 of 107 listings satisfy at least one test; 4 satisfy all three; 31 satisfy none. Overlaps: price & language 15 · price & pyramid 7 · language & pyramid 5.
The three definitions point at three mostly different sets of oils. Sixteen listings call themselves perfume-grade without being in the dearest quartile; thirty-seven publish a full pyramid and are not premium by either other test; four listings — Amber Oud Royal, Lavender Oud, English Pear & Freesia and one designer-inspired listing whose brand reference we do not repeat — clear all three. If you were using "premium" as a single idea, it was four different ideas.
Straight answer
What counts as a premium candle fragrance oil, and what does one cost per candle?
There is no premium grade anyone issues, so the only honest definitions are the ones you can check on the page. Three work. Price: 22 CSI listings have a live 1 kg at ₹8,400 or more, topping out at ₹24,056. Self-description: 32 listings call the oil perfume-grade or a fine perfume oil in their own text. Completeness: 45 publish a full three-tier note pyramid. Seventy-six listings pass at least one test and only four pass all three — Amber Oud Royal at ₹11,640, Lavender Oud at ₹12,000, English Pear & Freesia at ₹14,560 and one designer-inspired listing. Costed in the candle a Guwahati maker actually gift-boxes — a 150 g candle at a 10% load, so 15 g of oil — the dearest quartile runs ₹126 to ₹360.84, against ₹75.40 for mid-range Sandalwood. With Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, a 150 gram clear jar with a golden lid, one Eco wick and a sticker, the whole candle comes to ₹310.71 with Sparkling Fruit and ₹402.07 with English Pear & Freesia. And here is the part nobody advertises: not one of those 22 dearest kilos publishes a measured flash point. All 18 specific measured values CSI publishes sit on oils priced ₹7,646 a kilo or less. At this end of the range you are buying a better starting point, not more certainty.
One line: premium is a price and a self-description — cost it at 15 g in the candle you gift-box, start with the smallest listed bottle, and ask for the SDS rather than assuming the page carries it.
Pricing a gift-boxed candle for Puja, Diwali or a winter wedding? Three premium-tier oils list a 15 g trial from ₹140, and the full tier runs ₹126 to ₹360.84 of oil per 150 g candle at a 10% load.

Three tests for premium, and four claims to ignore

Every fragrance page in India uses the word. The useful question is which part of it you could still hold the supplier to in six months.

"Premium" has no issuing authority. Nobody grades fragrance oil the way diamonds or teas are graded, and any supplier telling you otherwise is describing its own marketing. What a page can do is publish specific things, and those are checkable. Below, the three checks that work and the four claims that cannot be checked by anybody, including us.

What to verify, and what to stop asking for
Three checkable tests, four unverifiable claims, and how many CSI listings pass each test
Check What it actually tells you CSI listings passing
Price: is the live 1 kg in the top quartile? That the supplier's own cost base is high — usually more concentrate, rarer materials, or a fine-perfume composition. It is the most reliable signal and the least informative one. 22, from ₹8,400 to ₹24,056
Self-description: does the page say perfume-grade or fine perfume oil? That the oil is intended for perfumery strengths as well as candles — most of these pages publish usage rates for extrait, EDP and diffusers alongside the candle figure. 32
Completeness: does it publish top, heart and base notes? That somebody documented the composition rather than writing a mood. A pyramid lets you predict how the scent will read after cure and how it will sit in a gift set. 45
"Stronger throw" Nothing. Throw depends on your wax, wick, vessel, load and cure. No CSI page publishes a measured throw figure and this guide will not invent one. Not measurable from any page
"Longer lasting" Nothing on a page. Burn time is set by wax, wick and vessel geometry, not by the oil's price. Not measurable from any page
"IFRA-compliant", or whatever compliance wording the page carries Only what that page words for itself. A line printed on a listing is not a certificate; CSI supplies SDS and IFRA documentation on request instead, and this guide claims no certificate, amendment or category number. Ask for the document, don't infer it
"Long shelf life" Nothing — no CSI fragrance page states a shelf life, expiry or storage specification, at any price. Zero, at every price point
Counted above: across CSI's 107 fragrance-oil listings, 22 have a live 1 kg at ₹8,400 or above — the top quartile of the 87 buyable kilos, whose 75th percentile sits at ₹8,347. Thirty-two listings contain the phrase "perfume-grade", "Perfume Grade" or "fine perfume oil" in their published text. Forty-five publish a top, a heart or middle, and a base. Overlaps: price and language together 15, price and pyramid 7, language and pyramid 5, all three 4. That makes 76 listings passing at least one test and 31 passing none.
A premium page's best feature is usually a warning
The most valuable line on an expensive page is often the one that costs the supplier a sale. Coffee Vanilla Tobacco states that its vanilla and cocoa "will cause significant browning in white or light-coloured wax over time". Ban Magnet says its patchouli, amber and tonka "will cause browning in white or light-coloured wax and soap bases over time". Sparkling Fruit states "Discoloration is low". Those three sentences will save you more money than any adjective on the same page.

The 22 dearest live kilos, costed

Here is the price-defined tier in full, costed in two units: a 150 g gift candle at a 10% load (15 g of oil) and a 70 g votive at 8% (5.6 g), because premium ranges in India almost always ship as a boxed pair. Twelve of the 22 are designer- or retailer-inspired listings; this guide does not repeat the brand names they reference, so the table names the other ten and counts the rest.

Live kilos at ₹8,400 and above · CSI live pricing, September 2026

Ban Magnet ₹8,400 100 gm ₹899 ₹126 ₹47.04
Sparkling Fruit ₹8,469 50 gm ₹423 ₹127.04 ₹47.43
Coffee Vanilla Tobacco ₹8,599 50 gm ₹449 ₹128.99 ₹48.15
Pink Crush ₹8,899 50 gm ₹444 ₹133.49 ₹49.83
Gilli Mitti (Patchouli) ₹8,960 15 gm ₹140 ₹134.40 ₹50.18
Santal Noir ₹9,120 15 gm ₹166 ₹136.80 ₹51.07
Amber Oud Royal ₹11,640 100 gm ₹1,299 ₹174.60 ₹65.18
Tangerine ₹11,999 15 gm ₹199 ₹179.99 ₹67.19
Lavender Oud ₹12,000 100 gm ₹1,200 ₹180 ₹67.20
English Pear & Freesia ₹14,560 100 gm ₹1,499 ₹218.40 ₹81.54
Twelve designer- and retailer-inspired listings, unnamed here ₹8,692 – ₹24,056 50 gm ₹435 upward ₹130.38 – ₹360.84 ₹48.68 – ₹134.71
Worked out above: oil cost = 1 kg price ÷ 1,000 × grams, where a 150 g candle at 10% holds 15 g and a 70 g votive at 8% holds 5.6 g. Ban Magnet ₹8.40 a gram → ₹126 and ₹47.04; Gilli Mitti ₹8.96 → ₹134.40 and ₹50.18; Amber Oud Royal ₹11.64 → ₹174.60 and ₹65.18; English Pear & Freesia ₹14.56 → ₹218.40 and ₹81.54; the dearest live kilo, ₹24,056, → ₹360.84 and ₹134.71. Three of the 22 list a 15 g bottle, 14 start at 50 g and 5 at 100 g; 12 of the 22 also carry a buyable 500 g.

Two things in that table are worth arguing with. First, the entry price is not proportional to the kilo price: Amber Oud Royal costs less per kilo than Tangerine but more than six times as much to try, because it has no 15 g or 50 g bottle. Second, the gap inside the tier is bigger than the gap into it. Stepping from a mid-range woody to the bottom of this tier adds ₹50.60 per gift candle; stepping from the bottom of the tier to the top adds another ₹234.84. "Premium" is not one decision.

What the dearest pages do not publish

If price bought documentation, the top of this range would be the best-documented part of it. It is not.

Run the four fields a maker actually plans with across the 22 dearest live kilos and the result is uncomfortable. It is not a scandal — perfume-grade concentrates are documented for perfumery, where the candle fields matter less — but it is a fact a buyer should price in, and the fix is a message rather than a guess.

Published fields across the 22 dearest live kilos
How many publish each field, and what to do about the ones that do not
Field Published on What it means for you
A candle load percentage 20 of 22 Usually 7–10%, with "start at 7%" printed. Two publish 7–9%, so those cap every CSI wax at 9%. Two publish nothing — pour at 8%.
A discolouration answer 14 of 22 The eight silent pages are the ones to test in undyed wax before you promise a white candle to a wedding client.
A full three-tier pyramid 7 of 22 The other 15 describe a mood. Fine for a shelf card, useless for predicting how the scent reads after a fortnight's cure.
A measured flash point 0 of 22 Many carry the shared "> 93°C" threshold line, which is a handling classification, not a measurement. Ask for the SDS.
A published customer review 1 of 22 The tier is thinly reviewed because few makers buy it repeatedly. Your own burn test is the only evidence available.
A shelf life or storage specification 0 of 22 Same as every other price point in the range. Buy against demand you can see on a calendar.
The mistake: assuming an expensive oil is a safer oil. It usually publishes less, it is almost never reviewed, and it is often the one most likely to brown a pale wax — the heavy vanilla, amber, patchouli and resin materials that make a composition read expensive are exactly the ones that discolour. Where the page warns you, believe it and design a dark candle. Where the page says nothing, pour one undyed test jar and look at it after a full cure. Both are cheaper than a rejected wedding order. Background: which candle fragrances are least likely to discolour white wax.
The other mistake: treating "> 93°C" as a measured flash point. Thirty-two CSI pages carry a shared line reading "Flash point > 93°C (suitable for alcohol-based products)" — it says the oil clears a threshold used for alcohol-based formats, not that anyone measured 93°C. Only 18 of the 107 listings publish a specific measured value, and every one of them is on an oil priced ₹7,646 a kilo or below: Vanilla Bean at 203°C, Verbena at 200°C, Sage and Cedarwood at 190°C among them. If a specific figure matters to your process or your insurer, ask for the SDS on WhatsApp before ordering, and do not read a threshold as data.

A 150 g gift candle, line by line

A premium oil never arrives alone. It arrives in a heavier jar with a lid, a printed label, a rigid box and often a ribbon, and the question that matters is what share of the finished candle the fragrance actually is. Here is one fully specified 150 g gift candle at a 10% load — 135 g of wax and 15 g of oil — with the same four non-oil lines every time, so only the fragrance changes.

One 150 g gift candle at a 10% load · CSI live pricing, September 2026
The fixed lines, then the same candle with five different oils
Line Quantity Cost Note
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 135 g ₹80.87 ₹599/kg; page states 8–13%, 10% recommended
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) 1 ₹94.40 Pack of 10 at ₹944; page states a 150 g fill
Eco Candle Wick · Thin (C1) 1 ₹5.90 Flat at ₹5.90 each from 10 to 1,000 wicks
Candle Wick Sticker 1 ₹2.50 Sheet of 40 at ₹100
Everything except the fragrance ₹183.67 Label, box and ribbon are yours to add
+ Sandalwood, a mid-range comparison 15 g ₹75.40 ₹259.07 · oil is 29.1% of materials
+ Sparkling Fruit 15 g ₹127.04 ₹310.71 · oil is 40.9%
+ Amber Oud Royal 15 g ₹174.60 ₹358.27 · oil is 48.7%
+ Lavender Oud 15 g ₹180 ₹363.67 · oil is 49.5%
+ English Pear & Freesia 15 g ₹218.40 ₹402.07 · oil is 54.3%
Worked out above: wax 135 g × ₹0.599 = ₹80.87; jar ₹944 ÷ 10 = ₹94.40; wick ₹590 ÷ 100 = ₹5.90; sticker ₹100 ÷ 40 = ₹2.50; fixed subtotal ₹183.67. Oil at 15 g: Sandalwood ₹5.0268/g → ₹75.40; Sparkling Fruit ₹8.469 → ₹127.04; Amber Oud Royal ₹11.64 → ₹174.60; Lavender Oud ₹12.00 → ₹180; English Pear & Freesia ₹14.56 → ₹218.40. Share = oil ÷ total. Label, rigid box, ribbon, dye, breakage and labour are excluded and will add materially to every row.

The honest reading of that table is that a premium fragrance does not break a gift candle's costing — it changes which shelf the candle belongs on. At ₹310.71 of materials, a candle that retails around ₹900 works comfortably. At ₹402.07 it does not, and the fix is a smaller format rather than a cheaper oil: the same English Pear & Freesia in a 70 g votive is ₹81.54 of fragrance instead of ₹218.40. What usually ruins a premium candle's margin is not the oil at all — it is the rigid box, the breakage and the hours nobody costed.

Four premium oils and what each commits to

One that passes all three tests, one that passes all three and is the cheapest way into the top of the tier, one that is premium by price while publishing a genuinely useful load and discolouration line, and one that is premium by price and publishes almost nothing. Each card prints every listed size and the 150 g gift candles at 10% each pack would scent.

Premium on all three tests
Amber Oud Royal Fragrance Oil
One of the four listings that clears every check. Its page describes the fragrance type as a fine perfume oil (concentrated), publishes a complete pyramid — "Top: Saffron, Bergamot, Cinnamon Heart: Oud, Rose, Patchouli Base: Amber, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Musk" — and gives a usage table across formats: "Candles (Soy/Paraffin/Blends) 10%" with "start at 7% and adjust based on wax blend and wick size", plus 25% for extrait, 20% for EDP and 25% for reed diffusers with a base. It also states a compliance line of its own and "Phthalate-Free Yes". What it does not publish is a measured flash point or a discolouration answer — and with oud, patchouli, amber and tonka in the composition, assume browning in pale wax and design a dark candle. The floor is the 100 gm at ₹1,299: there is no smaller bottle.

All three tests · and the ladder to watch
Lavender Oud Fragrance Oil
Also premium on all three counts: a stated fine perfume oil (concentrated), a published pyramid of "Top: Lavender, Bergamot, Clary Sage Heart: Oud, Orris, Geranium, Cedarwood Base: Sandalwood, Amber, Tonka, Musk", and a usage table stating "Candles (Soy/Paraffin/Blends) 10%" alongside 25% for extrait and 20% for EDP. Worth noticing on the ladder: the 500 gm at ₹6,200 works out at ₹12.40 a gram against ₹12.00 at the kilo, so here the kilo genuinely is the cheaper gram — 3.23% cheaper — which is not true across most of the catalogue. The entry is the 100 gm at ₹1,200. An aromatic-woody like this is the safer premium bet for a mixed gift set, because lavender reads as calm rather than as loud, and a boxed pair of one 150 g candle and two votives keeps the fragrance cost to ₹314.40.

Premium price, low discolouration, ₹423 to try
Sparkling Fruit Fine Fragrance Oil
The cheapest useful entry into the tier and a reminder that premium is not a synonym for oud. Its page publishes a pyramid opening on "Sparkling Citrus, Pear, Red Berries", a candle load of "7-10% in soy, paraffin, or blended wax" with "Start at 7% and adjust based on your wax blend", a perfume range of 15–25%, and — unusually for this end of the range — a discolouration answer: "Discoloration is low", described as minimal toning in white or light-coloured wax. For a pale wedding-favour range at a premium price, that single line is the reason to shortlist it. It states no measured flash point, only the shared threshold line, and there is no 500 g pack: the ladder runs 50 gm ₹423, 100 gm ₹847, then straight to the kilo.
Size Price Per kg 150g candles @ 10%

100g ₹847 ₹8,470 ≈6

A premium price with almost nothing published
Tangerine Fragrance Oil
Included as the honest counter-example. At ₹11,999 a kilo Tangerine sits near the top of the range on price, and its page publishes a three-tier pyramid — "Top Notes: Tangerine Peel, Mandarin, Bergamot" over "Heart Notes: Neroli, Light Jasmine" and "Base Notes: White Musk, Soft Amber, Light Woods" — and then stops. No stated load, no flash point, no vanillin figure, no compliance wording. So it is premium on two of the three tests and hands you nothing to plan a recipe with: pour at 8%, in undyed wax, and burn test properly before it goes near a customer. Its one real advantage is the ladder — it is one of only three oils in the tier with a 15 gm bottle, at ₹199 — so the cost of finding out is ₹199 rather than ₹1,499.

₹179.99 of oil per 150 g candle at 10% · ₹67.19 in a 70 g votive at 8% Buy Tangerine
Priced above: oil per candle = 1 kg price ÷ 1,000 × grams. Amber Oud Royal ₹11.64/g → ₹174.60 at 15 g, ₹65.18 at 5.6 g. Lavender Oud ₹12.00/g → ₹180 and ₹67.20; the boxed set of one 150 g candle plus two 70 g votives is ₹180 + (2 × ₹67.20) = ₹314.40 of fragrance. Sparkling Fruit ₹8.469/g → ₹127.04 and ₹47.43. Tangerine ₹11.999/g → ₹179.99 and ₹67.19. Lavender Oud ladder: 500 gm ₹6,200 ÷ 500 = ₹12.40/g against ₹12.00/g at the kilo, a 3.23% step. All quoted page text is verbatim from September 2026.
The CSI principle
At the top of a fragrance range you are not buying certainty. You are buying a better starting point — and the obligation to test more carefully, not less.
The dearest 22 kilos publish no measured flash points, one customer review between them and a discolouration answer on fourteen. Everything else you need to know about them has to come from a cured candle on your own bench, or from a document you asked for by name.
Costing a premium gift candle? Sparkling Fruit 50 gm ₹423, Tangerine 15 gm ₹199, Santal Noir 15 gm ₹166 and Gilli Mitti 15 gm ₹140 are the cheapest honest ways in. For multi-kilo pricing, GST invoicing and SDS or IFRA documentation, use the bulk line.

Where a premium candle sells in Guwahati

A premium candle is bought as a gift far more often than as a treat, which means its selling season is a calendar rather than a shelf. In Guwahati that calendar has a distinct shape: Bohag Bihu opens the Assamese year in spring and Magh Bihu closes it in the depth of winter, Durga Puja brings the first big autumn gifting block, Diwali falls on 8 November 2026, and the winter wedding season follows with hamper and favour orders that can be larger than everything else combined. Only the Diwali date is fixed; work in "the weeks before" for the rest and count backwards from 8 November.

Four premium buyers, and which published field decides your shortlist
What each order actually pays for — and the format that keeps the fragrance affordable
The order What the buyer is paying for The field that decides it Format that works
Durga Puja and Diwali corporate gifting A box that looks considered when fifty are handed out at once, and a scent nobody dislikes A published pyramid, so you can predict it reads warm rather than divisive 150 g jar at 10% — ₹126 to ₹180 of oil
Winter wedding hampers A pale or white candle that will still be pale on the day, and a scent that photographs as "expensive" The discolouration answer. Eight of the 22 do not give one 150 g jar plus two 70 g votives — ₹220.08 to ₹381.48 of oil
Wedding favours in the hundreds Volume with one premium touch, not premium throughout The stated load — at 7% instead of 10% the same oil is 30% cheaper per candle 70 g votive at 8% — ₹47.04 to ₹81.54 of oil
A single signature candle for your own shelf The story you can tell about it, honestly, without overclaiming Whatever the page actually publishes, because that is all you may repeat One 150 g format, bought at 50 g or 100 g first
The mistake a humid climate punishes hardest: spending on the oil and not on the box. In Guwahati the fragile part of a premium gift candle is rarely the candle. Rigid boxes and printed sleeves go soft in a long, wet season, ribbon loses its crispness, and a label that lifts at one corner undoes the whole ₹402.07. Store flat-packed boxes off the floor and away from outer walls, keep labels and sleeves in a sealed container, assemble gift sets as late as you sensibly can rather than months ahead, and apply labels only to dry, room-temperature glass. A ₹218.40 fragrance inside a crushed box reads cheaper than a ₹75.40 fragrance inside a crisp one.

Buying the tier without buying a kilo

Nobody should meet a ₹14,560 kilo for the first time in a production order. Here is the sequence that gets you a costed, burn-tested premium candle for a few hundred rupees, and only then commits money.

1
Start where a 15 g bottle existsOnly three of the 22 have one: Gilli Mitti ₹140, Santal Noir ₹166 and Tangerine ₹199. All three together are ₹505 — enough for one 150 g candle of each at a 10% load, or three 120 g jars at 10% with 3 g of margin each. That is the cheapest premium shortlist CSI's own pack ladder allows.
2
Accept the 50 g floor where there is no 15 gFourteen of the 22 start at 50 g, from ₹423. Sparkling Fruit at ₹423 and Pink Crush at ₹444 each cover three 150 g candles at 10% — enough for a wick ladder rather than a single guess.
3
Pour at the page's own starting figure, not its ceilingMost of these pages print "start at 7%" and a ceiling of 10%. Start at 7%, in undyed Luxury Soy Wax Chunks or CSI 464, and remember the wax has a ceiling too — pour to whichever is lower.
4
Ask for the document instead of inferring itNone of the 22 publishes a measured flash point. If your process, your landlord or your buyer needs one, request the SDS by product name on WhatsApp before you order, along with GST invoicing if you need it. A page line is not a certificate and this guide will not treat one as evidence.
5
Cure it properly, then decideFourteen to twenty-one days is standard practice for soy containers, and many CSI oil pages state 48–72 hours in soy as their own minimum. Judge a premium oil only on a fully cured candle — the whole argument for the tier is depth that arrives late.
6
Then buy the pack your calendar needs1 kg is the largest fragrance pack CSI lists, so multiple kilos at the listed price are your ceiling — two kilos of Amber Oud Royal is ₹23,280, two of Sparkling Fruit ₹16,938. Above that, send scents, kilos, frequency and destination to the bulk line for a quote. This page will not guess what that quote is.

Two limits to say plainly. CSI has no shop, stockist or warehouse in Guwahati — it is an online supplier that ships across India and handles bulk enquiries on WhatsApp — and it publishes no delivery timeline, courier or shipping rate for any destination, so the buffer between ordering and pouring is yours to set and to confirm when you order. There is also no sample pack and no published minimum order: the floor is the smallest listed size on each page, which in this tier is 15 g on three listings and 50 g or 100 g on the rest.

A premium oil is one whose page describes more and claims less. Anything a supplier cannot put in writing is not part of what you bought.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies candle raw materials and does not sell finished candles. A supplier writing about its own premium tier has every reason to describe it in adjectives. This page counts fields instead, and the count is unflattering: none of the 22 dearest live kilos publishes a measured flash point, only 14 answer the discolouration question, and 1 carries a published customer review.

Every price, pack size and quoted specification comes from live CSI stock and product-page text in September 2026, quoted in the page's own words and linked so current pricing takes precedence. Flash points are cited only for the 18 listings publishing a specific measured value; the shared "> 93°C" line is a threshold and is not presented as a measurement. Where a page states its own compliance wording, that is the page's wording — CSI provides SDS and IFRA documentation on request rather than publishing certificates, and no certificate, amendment or category number is claimed here. No CSI page states a shelf life at any price, and none is claimed. The brand names behind designer- and retailer-inspired listings are not repeated.

For pricing above one kilogram, recurring orders, GST invoicing, or SDS and IFRA documentation on a specific oil, message the bulk line on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926. We publish no prices for quantities that are not on a product page, and no delivery timelines for Guwahati or anywhere else.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a candle fragrance oil premium?
Nothing anybody certifies. Three things can be checked on a page: a top-quartile kilo price (22 CSI listings at ₹8,400 and above), a page that calls the oil perfume-grade or a fine perfume oil (32 listings), and a published three-tier note pyramid (45 listings). Seventy-six listings pass at least one test; only four pass all three. Claims about stronger throw or longer burn are not page facts — they depend on your wax, wick, vessel, load and cure.
How much does a premium fragrance oil add to each candle?
In a 150 g gift candle at a 10% load — 15 g of oil — the dearest quartile costs ₹126 to ₹360.84, against ₹75.40 for mid-range Sandalwood. With soy wax, a 150 gram jar with a golden lid, a wick and a sticker, the candle's materials run from ₹259.07 to ₹402.07, and the oil moves from 29.1% to 54.3% of that bill. In a 70 g votive at 8% the same tier is only ₹47.04 to ₹134.71, which is why premium favours are poured small.
Do premium fragrance oils smell stronger in candles?
Not by virtue of being premium. Throw is produced by the whole system — wax, wick size, vessel diameter, load and cure — and no CSI page publishes a measured throw figure. What the premium tier usually does buy is composition: a published pyramid, materials that develop over a longer cure, and a dry-down that still reads in the room after two hours. Whether that beats a well-wicked mid-range oil in your jar is a controlled burn test, not a price comparison.
What is the cheapest way to try a premium fragrance oil?
Buy the smallest listed bottle, and check first whether one exists. Only three of the 22 dearest kilos list a 15 g size: Gilli Mitti ₹140, Santal Noir ₹166 and Tangerine ₹199 — all three for ₹505. Fourteen start at 50 g, from ₹423, and five start at 100 g, where the floor reaches ₹1,499. CSI publishes no sample pack, so a trial bench is something you assemble from listed sizes.
Will a premium oil discolour a white candle?
Often, and the page may tell you. Fourteen of the 22 answer the question. Sparkling Fruit states "Discoloration is low"; Coffee Vanilla Tobacco states its vanilla and cocoa "will cause significant browning in white or light-coloured wax over time"; Ban Magnet warns the same about patchouli, amber and tonka. Where the eight silent pages are concerned, pour one undyed test jar and look at it after a full cure before promising a white candle to anybody.
Can I get documentation and bulk pricing for premium oils in Guwahati?
Yes, by asking. SDS and IFRA documentation are supplied on request via WhatsApp at +91 7397976926, along with bulk quotes and GST invoicing — and they matter more in this tier, because none of the 22 dearest kilos publishes a measured flash point. 1 kg is the largest listed fragrance pack, so multiple kilos at the listed price are your ceiling: two kilos of Amber Oud Royal is ₹23,280. CSI has no shop or warehouse in Guwahati and publishes no delivery timeline for any destination.

About this guide: Written by the CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA team. The counts describe the CSI range; the three-test method, the per-candle costing and the trial-bottle sequence apply to any supplier's premium tier.

Customer reviews: The six reviews at the top of this page are genuine, published Judge.me reviews left by CSI customers on their product pages. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me; two longer reviews are shortened with an ellipsis and otherwise unedited.

Figures verified September 2026: Of CSI's 107 fragrance-oil listings, 87 carry a buyable 1 kg; the quartile cut sits at ₹8,347, so the price test counts the 22 live kilos at ₹8,400 and above, running to ₹24,056. The language test counts the 32 listings whose published text contains "perfume-grade", "Perfume Grade" or "fine perfume oil". The completeness test counts the 45 listings publishing a top, a heart or middle and a base. Overlaps: price and language 15, price and pyramid 7, language and pyramid 5, all three 4 — Amber Oud Royal, Lavender Oud, English Pear & Freesia and one designer-inspired listing not named here. Seventy-six listings pass at least one test; 31 pass none. Within the 22: 20 state a candle load, 14 answer discolouration, 7 publish a full pyramid, 1 carries a published customer review, 12 have a buyable 500 g, 3 list a 15 g bottle, 14 start at 50 g and 5 at 100 g, and none publishes a specific measured flash point. Across the whole range, 18 listings publish a specific measured flash point and all sit at ₹7,646 a kilo or below; 32 carry the shared "Flash point > 93°C (suitable for alcohol-based products)" threshold line, which is not treated as a measurement. 1 kg prices used: Ban Magnet ₹8,400; Sparkling Fruit ₹8,469; Coffee Vanilla Tobacco ₹8,599; Pink Crush ₹8,899; Gilli Mitti ₹8,960; Santal Noir ₹9,120; Amber Oud Royal ₹11,640; Tangerine ₹11,999; Lavender Oud ₹12,000; English Pear & Freesia ₹14,560; dearest live kilo ₹24,056; Sandalwood ₹5,026.80 as the mid-range comparison. Entry bottles: Gilli Mitti 15 gm ₹140; Santal Noir 15 gm ₹166; Tangerine 15 gm ₹199; Sparkling Fruit 50 gm ₹423 and 100 gm ₹847; Pink Crush 50 gm ₹444; Coffee Vanilla Tobacco 50 gm ₹449; Ban Magnet 100 gm ₹899; Lavender Oud 100 gm ₹1,200 and 500 gm ₹6,200; Amber Oud Royal 100 gm ₹1,299 and 500 gm ₹5,999; English Pear & Freesia 100 gm ₹1,499. Gift-candle bill: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹599/kg so 135 g = ₹80.87; Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) pack of 10 ₹944 so ₹94.40 each; Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 100 for ₹590 so ₹5.90 each; Candle Wick Stickers 40 for ₹100 so ₹2.50 each; fixed subtotal ₹183.67, with label, box, ribbon, dye, breakage and labour excluded. A 150 g candle at a 10% load is 15 g of oil and 135 g of wax; a 70 g votive at 8% is 5.6 g of oil. The boxed set of one 150 g candle plus two votives therefore spans ₹126 + (2 × ₹47.04) = ₹220.08 on Ban Magnet to ₹218.40 + (2 × ₹81.54) = ₹381.48 on English Pear & Freesia; at a 7% load instead of 10% a 150 g candle holds 10.5 g rather than 15 g, which is 30% less oil. Loads quoted verbatim where stated, including "Candles (Soy/Paraffin/Blends) 10%" and "start at 7% and adjust based on wax blend and wick size"; they are formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November 2026; Bihu, Durga Puja and the winter wedding season are named without dates. Packaging notes describe general material behaviour in a humid climate, not weather data. No CSI page states a shelf life, storage specification or minimum order quantity; no delivery timeline, courier or shipping rate is published for any destination. Prices and availability change — the linked product pages are always authoritative.
