A one-oil, four-wax melt bench test
With no dedicated melt wax in the range, the right choice depends on your mould, your oil and your climate. You find it the same way a lab would: hold everything constant except the wax, and compare.
What to buy
Take the smallest pack of each candidate: Soy Pillar Wax at 500 g for ₹300.00, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at 500 g for ₹299.00, Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at 500 g for ₹260.00 with a 500 g Microcrystalline Wax Slab for ₹149.00, and Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets at 500 g for ₹177.00. For oil, pick one that states a melt load. Citrus Lemon's page states 10–15% for wax melts and a 100 g bottle is ₹300.00.
How to pour it
Make a 250 g batch of each wax at 10% fragrance: 225 g of wax and 25 g of oil. Four batches use exactly 100 g of oil, so one bottle runs the whole test. For the CSI 464 batch, replace about 3% of the wax with micro, around 7 g. Pour each into the same mould or clamshell and label every piece.
What to record over one week
Day one: how easily each piece releases, and whether it leaves wax behind in the cavity. Day three: whether you can see oil beading on the surface or pooling in the clamshell. Day seven: snap one piece of each. A clean snap suggests a firm set; a bend suggests a soft one that may stick and dent in transit. Then melt one piece of each in the same warmer, in the same room, on different days, and note how far the scent carries.
Judging throw on the day you pour. Scent strength in a melt usually changes as it rests. Let every sample sit for the same period before the warmer test, or the fresher batch will seem stronger.
Reading the results
You may find the Chunks throw well but cling to the clamshell, the paraffin releases cleanly but is not the natural product you want to sell, and the Soy Pillar Wax sits between them. That middle ground is where most good melts end up. Whatever wins, remember it won only for this oil. Before launching a second scent, pour one quick batch of it in your chosen wax and repeat the day-three check.
