Candle Fragrance Oil Bulk Price in India

The five-size ladder, and what was measured

CSI lists 106 fragrance oil products. They do not all come in the same sizes, and the ladder shape matters before any percentages do. Classic candle oils mostly ship in five sizes, from a 15 g smelling bottle to a 1 kg pack. Many perfume-style oils ship in 50 g, 100 g and 1 kg only. Some newer oils start at 100 g. Here is the full picture, from the live catalogue.

The linear ladders are worth a sentence of their own. On 14 of the 15 in-stock oils sold as 50 g, 100 g and 1 kg, the price per gram is identical within 0.2% at every size — one perfume-inspired oil lists ₹648, ₹1,296 and ₹12,960, which is ₹12.96 a gram whichever you buy. The exception is Mint Sandalwood, which falls from ₹5.98 a gram at 50 g to ₹5.00 at 1 kg (16.4%). On a linear ladder, "buying in bulk" earns nothing per gram. It only buys fewer bottles.

Six oils, every per-gram step

Six widely used oils with all five sizes in stock, from the steepest ladder to the flattest. Each cell is the listed price divided by grams; the figure in brackets is the per-gram fall from the size to its left. The last column is the whole fall from 15 g to 1 kg.

Read down the 1 kg column and the ladder's logic appears. The oils with the lowest kilo prices have the steepest ladders. British Rose, Citrus Lemon and Roasted Coffee all cost under ₹4 a gram at 1 kg and fall 39.9% to 51.2% from the 15 g bottle; Dark Vanilla, at ₹7.65 a gram, falls only 11.8%. The 15 g bottle is priced close to the same few rupees across all six — ₹81.42 to ₹130 — so an inexpensive oil looks dear in a sample and a premium oil looks almost the same as its kilo. Never judge an oil's price from its trial bottle.

The second pattern is where each ladder goes flat. Sandalwood stops falling at 100 g. Lavender is flat from 50 g to 100 g, dips 3% at 500 g, and barely moves to the kilo. Citrus Lemon's last step is 0.3%. On five of the six oils, 500 g to 1 kg is worth about 1% a gram or nothing at all; British Rose is the only one where the kilo still earns a meaningful 3.7%.

Where the real price break sits

Six oils show a pattern; the whole range confirms it. The table below measures every step on the 49 oils with all five sizes in stock, then checks the 100 g to 1 kg step across every oil that lists both.

Three conclusions follow, and each one changes how a candle business should buy. First, the 15 g bottle carries a premium and nothing else does consistently. The median oil's 50 g pack is 14.6% cheaper per gram, and that single step is the biggest on 40 of 49 oils. Second, by 100 g the job is done. The median oil has captured 92% of its entire 15 g-to-1 kg fall at 100 g, and 33 of the 49 have captured at least 80%. Third, the kilo is a convenience size far more often than a price size. From 500 g to 1 kg, 30 of 49 oils save nothing per gram, and across all 86 oils listing both 100 g and 1 kg, 40 save nothing between those two sizes either.

The oils that break the pattern

Averages hide the listings that reward — or punish — a particular pack. These are the ones a bulk buyer should know by name.

The last row is the one to act on carefully. A 1 kg pack that is a third dearer per gram than its own 500 g pack is unusual enough that the listing may be updated; don't build a costing on either figure without confirming it. The general lesson from this table is simpler: the ladder is set per oil, so "buy the kilo" and "buy the 100 g" are both wrong as blanket rules.

What each pack size costs per candle

Per-gram percentages are abstract. The same ladder expressed as the oil inside one 200 g candle at an 8% load (16 g) shows what each size really costs you at the bench. The 15 g column is theoretical — a 15 g bottle does not fill one such candle — but it shows what testing costs relative to producing.

The last column is the whole case for — or against — the kilo. Between 100 g and 1 kg, the oil in a 200 g candle changes by ₹0 to ₹5.66 on these six oils. Between 15 g and 50 g it changes by ₹7.47 (Dark Vanilla) to ₹32.72 (British Rose). If you have been pouring saleable candles from 15 g bottles, moving to 50 g or 100 g is the largest fragrance saving available to you. Moving from 100 g to 1 kg is a few rupees a candle, and only worth it if the kilo will be poured.

Climbing the ladder without overpaying

A buying sequence that captures the bulk rate where it actually sits, without tying cash up in oil you have not proven. It works for any oil on the five-size ladder.

For listed multiples, the arithmetic is straightforward: two kilos of Citrus Lemon is 2 × ₹2,832 = ₹5,664; three kilos of Sandalwood, 3 × ₹5,026.80 = ₹15,080.40.
