Wholesale Buying Guides · Amber
CSI stocks two amber oils and no single-note amber. Bergamot Amber runs at ₹5.44 a gram at 1kg. Amber Oud Royal runs at ₹11.64 and starts at a 100g pack. This is the wholesale arithmetic for both — per gram, per candle, per 500-unit run, and as a share of retail.

Quick answers — read this first
Which amber oils does CSI actually sell wholesale? Two: Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil in 15g, 50g, 100g, 500g and 1kg, and Amber Oud Royal in 100g, 500g and 1kg. There is no standalone single-note "Amber" oil in the catalogue, so order by the real product name.

What is the cheapest way to buy amber in bulk? Bergamot Amber at ₹2,718 per 500g (₹5.436/g) or ₹5,437 per 1kg (₹5.437/g). Those two rates are functionally identical — the price ladder is flat above 500g, so there is no bulk reason to jump to the kilo.

What does amber cost per candle? On a 200g candle at an 8% load (16g of oil): ₹86.99 with Bergamot Amber, ₹186.24 with Amber Oud Royal, both at 1kg pricing.

Can I trial Amber Oud Royal cheaply? No. Its smallest pack is 100g at ₹1,299 — there is no 15g or 50g size. Plan the trial as finished candles, not as a bottle you sniff.
The short answer
The workhorse: Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil — ₹105.02/15g, ₹280/50g, ₹560/100g, ₹2,718/500g, ₹5,437/1kg. Best rate ₹5.44 per gram. Use it across the range.
The halo: Amber Oud Royal — ₹1,299/100g, ₹5,999/500g, ₹11,640/1kg. Best rate ₹11.64 per gram. Use it on one or two premium SKUs, not across a range.
The threshold: a full Amber Oud Royal build at 200g / 8% costs ₹406.75 in materials. That is 45.2% of a ₹899 retail price and 16.3% of ₹2,499. It starts making sense at about ₹1,600 retail and is comfortable at ₹2,499.

Solid bars are the best per-gram rate each oil reaches at 1kg. The outlined extension is the rate you pay at the smallest pack you are allowed to buy. Bergamot Amber lets you in at 15g for ₹105.02, so the trial is nearly free. Amber Oud Royal has no size below 100g, so its trial floor is a ₹1,299 commitment — marked at the right. That floor, not the per-gram rate, is what most Indian candle brands actually have to plan around.
Straight answer
How do you buy amber candle fragrance oil wholesale in India when the two options are ₹5.44 and ₹11.64 a gram?
You buy both, in different quantities, for different jobs. Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil is the volume amber — ₹2,718 per 500g or ₹5,437 per 1kg, which is ₹5.44 a gram and ₹86.99 of oil in a 200g candle at 8%. Buy it in kilos, pour it across a warm-woody range, and let it carry the SKUs that ship in quantity. Amber Oud Royal is the halo amber — ₹11,640 per kilogram, ₹11.64 a gram, ₹186.24 per candle at the same load. It belongs on one or two SKUs priced at ₹1,499 and above, where the fragrance line can absorb 12.4% of retail. Do not put it across a range: on a 500-candle month at 8% it is ₹93,120 of oil against ₹43,496 for Bergamot Amber, a ₹49,624 difference for a scent most customers will meet in a single jar. Note the floor before you plan anything: Amber Oud Royal has no pack below 100g at ₹1,299, so the cheap trial route does not exist. Pair either oil with Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at its stated 10% ceiling, or Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at up to 13%. If you are buying single jars rather than kilos, the retail-side guide is buy amber fragrance oil for candle making in India.
One line: Bergamot Amber in kilos at ₹5.44/g is your amber range; Amber Oud Royal at ₹11.64/g is one premium SKU priced above ₹1,499 — and its 100g, ₹1,299 minimum is the number that decides whether you can trial it at all.
Start the amber decision with the cheap half of it. Bergamot Amber at ₹105.02 for 15g is enough oil for two 70g votives at 8%, which is a real burn test rather than a sniff test. The 500g pack at ₹2,718 pours 31 candles of 16g, and the 1kg pack at ₹5,437 pours 62.

The full amber price matrix

Two products, eight buyable variants between them, and a 2.14× gap in what a gram costs. Everything else on this page follows from this table.

Before the strategy, the arithmetic. CSI stocks two amber oils and no single-note amber. If you have been searching for "amber fragrance oil" and expecting a plain amber, that product does not exist here, and the honest version of this page says so in the first paragraph rather than the last. What exists is Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil — amber with a bright citrus opening — and Amber Oud Royal, an amber built onto an oud base. They are not substitutes for each other and they are not priced as if they were.

Price, per-gram rate, and how many 200g candles at 8% each pack pours
Oil Size Price ₹ per gram 200g candles @ 8%
Bergamot Amber 15g ₹105.02 ₹7.00 ≈1 (or 2 votives at 70g)

Amber Oud Royal 500g ₹5,999.00 ₹11.998 ≈31
Amber Oud Royal 1kg ₹11,640.00 ₹11.64 ≈62

Read the per-gram column and two facts jump out. First, Bergamot Amber's ladder is flat above 500g. The 500g pack works out at ₹5.436 per gram and the 1kg pack at ₹5.437 — two 500g packs cost ₹5,436 against ₹5,437 for the kilogram, a one-rupee difference in favour of the smaller packs. Second, Amber Oud Royal's ladder is not flat. Going from 100g to 500g saves 7.6% per gram; going on to 1kg saves a further 3.0%, and 10.4% against the 100g rate. Two 500g packs cost ₹11,998 against ₹11,640 for the kilogram, so on this oil the kilo saves you a real ₹358.

The advice that costs us money. On Bergamot Amber, do not let anyone talk you up to the kilogram for a better rate. There is no better rate. ₹5.436 and ₹5.437 a gram are the same number, and buying two 500g packs instead of one 1kg pack gives you the identical price with a second sealed container — which means the first 500g can be opened and worked while the second stays factory-sealed against oxygen and light. That is a genuine handling advantage for ₹1 less. The only case for the 1kg pack on this oil is that it is one unit to store instead of two. On Amber Oud Royal the opposite is true and the kilo is worth ₹358, but see the trial section before you order one.

The biggest single step on either ladder is Bergamot Amber's 15g-to-50g jump: ₹7.00 a gram down to ₹5.60, a 20.0% drop for an outlay of ₹280. If you are still in the sampling phase, that is the step to take first, because it takes you to 96% of the best rate the product ever reaches while committing under three hundred rupees. Between 50g and 100g there is no per-gram improvement at all — both are ₹5.60 — so buy 100g for volume, not for the rate. Further comparisons across the whole 92-oil Fragrance Oils collection are in the complete wholesale buyer's guide.

Where amber sits in the catalogue
Amber Oud Royal at ₹11.64 a gram is expensive but it is not the top of the range — the designer-inspired oils go further, and the catalogue's cheapest oil, Citrus Lemon, reaches ₹2.83 a gram at 1kg. Bergamot Amber at ₹5.44 sits in the middle of the range, in the same band as Sandalwood at ₹5.03 and Dark Vanilla Oud at ₹5.69. That matters for range planning: a warm-woody collection built on Bergamot Amber, Sandalwood and Dark Vanilla Oud has a consistent ingredient cost, so you can price the SKUs consistently too.

The two-tier strategy: one amber everywhere, one amber nowhere else

The mistake is choosing between them. The strategy is deciding how many SKUs each one is allowed to touch.

A range needs an amber because amber sells in India — it reads as warm, gifting-appropriate and festive without being a food scent, and it works in wedding hampers, corporate orders and Diwali collections alike. What a range does not need is its most expensive oil in every jar. So split the job.

Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil
Put it in your 200g jars, your 150g gifting sets, your votive multipacks and your festive hampers. At ₹86.99 of oil per 200g candle it behaves like a mid-range oil in your costing sheet, which means you can retail those candles from ₹899 upward without the fragrance line distorting the margin. The bergamot top note also helps it photograph and describe well — it gives you something concrete to write on the label besides "warm and woody".

Amber Oud Royal
Its job is not volume; its job is to sit at the top of your price list and make everything below it look reasonable. At ₹186.24 of oil per candle it cannot go anywhere near a ₹899 price point, but on a ₹2,499 signature candle it is 7.45% of retail, which is entirely normal for a premium fragrance line. Note the missing rows in the table below: there is no 15g and no 50g. The reasoning behind the one-SKU pattern is set out in how premium brands buy fragrance wholesale.

All 500 on Amber Oud Royal 8kg ₹93,120 ₹186.24 ₹49,624 more than all-workhorse. Only viable if every SKU retails above ₹1,600

The middle row is the answer for most Indian candle brands. ₹9,924.80 of extra fragrance spend buys you a hundred premium candles and a top-of-range price point, which is a far better use of ten thousand rupees than spreading the same oil thinly across five hundred jars nobody is paying premium prices for. The bottom row is what happens when a brand falls in love with a scent instead of costing it, and it is a ₹49,624 mistake per month at that volume.

Two bills of materials, built line by line

Fragrance is never the whole cost, and a wholesale decision made on the oil alone is made half-blind. Here are both candles costed completely, using CSI wax, jar and wick pricing at their best in-stock rates. Both are 200g of finished candle at an 8% load — 16g of oil, 184g of wax.

This is the number that surprises people. Fragrance is not a minor line — it is the largest single line in both builds, 39.7% of materials in the workhorse candle and 45.8% in the halo candle. Wax, the thing everyone shops hardest on, is 42.6% in the workhorse and 28.8% in the halo. If you have spent hours comparing wax at ₹507.40 and ₹599 a kilogram while treating fragrance as a detail, you have been optimising the wrong line. A ₹92.50 per kilogram difference in wax — Luxury Soy Chunks at ₹5,999/10kg against CSI 464 at ₹5,074/10kg — is ₹17.02 across 184g. The amber decision is ₹99.25 on the same candle. Candle pricing in India for 2026 works through the rest of the sheet — labour, packaging, shipping and overhead — which these two columns deliberately exclude.

When ₹11.64 a gram is justified

A premium oil is not justified by how it smells. It is justified by the price point it sits under.

The only honest test is the share of retail. A fragrance oil that is 7% of your selling price is an ingredient. The same oil at 21% of your selling price is a problem you have not noticed yet. Here are both ambers against three realistic Indian retail price points, first as fragrance alone and then as the full materials build from the section above.

Cost as a share of retail · 200g candle at 8%
Fragrance alone, then the complete bill of materials
Retail price Bergamot Amber — oil only Amber Oud Royal — oil only Workhorse build ₹219.29 Halo build ₹406.75
₹899 9.68% 20.72% 24.4% 45.2%
₹1,499 5.80% 12.42% 14.6% 27.1%
₹2,499 3.48% 7.45% 8.8% 16.3%

The honest threshold: Amber Oud Royal does not belong under about ₹1,600 retail, and it is only comfortable from ₹1,499 upwards if your other costs are unusually lean. At ₹899 the complete materials build is 45.2% of the selling price. 45.2% in materials leaves too little for labour, packaging, courier, marketplace commission and profit, before a rupee of advertising. At ₹1,499 the build is 27.1%, which is workable. At ₹2,499 it is 16.3%, which is comfortable and leaves the room a premium SKU needs for gift packaging that matches the price. If you want a round number to plan against: the halo build hits the conventional 25%-of-retail materials mark at ₹1,627.

Bergamot Amber passes the same test at every price point tested. Its full build is 24.4% of retail even at ₹899, which is exactly why it is the workhorse. This is the practical difference between a mid-priced and a premium fragrance oil, and it has very little to do with which one is objectively nicer — the reasoning is unpacked in premium versus cheap fragrance oils.

If you want Amber Oud Royal but your price point is ₹1,499, shrink the candle before you dilute the oil. A 150g candle at 8% needs 12g rather than 16g, which is ₹139.68 of oil. Built in a Black Glass Jar with Black Lid (150g) at ₹107 each with 138g of CSI 468 at ₹87.91 and a wooden wick at ₹41.30, the materials come to ₹375.89 — 25.1% of ₹1,499. That works. What does not work is keeping the 200g jar and dropping the load to 5% to save money: you have then paid a premium price for an oil and deliberately weakened the only thing you were paying for.
The CSI principle
A premium oil earns its place by raising a price point, not by appearing in more jars.
Amber Oud Royal on one ₹2,499 SKU raises your whole price list. Amber Oud Royal on nine SKUs at ₹899 raises nothing and costs ₹49,624 a month at 500 candles.

The ₹1,299 trial problem, stated plainly

We would rather you ordered 100g of Amber Oud Royal than 500g of it, and we would rather you ordered nothing than 500g untested.

Here is the awkward fact about this product, and it is awkward for us and not for you. Amber Oud Royal has no 15g size and no 50g size. The smallest pack that exists is 100g at ₹1,299. Bergamot Amber lets you in at ₹105.02. That is a 12.4× difference in the cost of finding out whether you like a scent, and for a candle brand doing two hundred jars a month it is a real barrier, not a rounding error.

So treat that ₹1,299 as a production budget rather than a sampling budget, and get finished candles out of it instead of a bottle on a shelf. 100g of oil at an 8% load pours seventeen 70g votives — 95.2g of the 100g used — or six 200g candles. Seventeen votives is a genuine market test: enough for your best repeat customers, two retail stockists and a festive hamper, with three held back for burn tests at day 7, day 14 and day 21.

1
Buy the 100g pack and nothing else₹1,299. Do not order 500g at ₹5,999 because the per-gram rate is 7.6% better. A 7.6% saving on oil you end up not using is not a saving. The rate improvement only becomes real once you know the scent sells, and by then you will be ordering the kilogram anyway, where the saving against 100g is 10.4%.
2
Pour the whole 100g as votives in one sessionSeventeen 70g candles in Colorful Votive Glass Jars at ₹31.86 each in packs of 5 or 10, 64.4g of CSI 464 at ₹32.68 and an Eco Candle Wick Thin C1 at ₹5.90. Small jars use less wax and less oil per unit, so you buy the widest possible spread of feedback out of a fixed 100g.
3
Cure and test on a calendar, not a whimAmber and oud are heavy, resinous base-note materials, which means they are exactly the family that keeps improving through a long cure. Burn one at day 7, one at day 14 and one at day 21 and write down what you smell each time. A judgement made at 48 hours will be wrong, and on a ₹1,299 oil a wrong judgement is expensive in both directions.
4
Only then decide the pack sizeIf it sells, go straight to 1kg at ₹11,640 and take the full ₹358 saving over two 500g packs. If it does not, you have spent ₹1,299 on oil and produced seventeen saleable candles, which is a far better outcome than ₹5,999 of a scent sitting in a cupboard. Do not order 500g of Amber Oud Royal untested. That is the single most expensive mistake available on this page.
Do the cheap half of the test in parallel
While the Amber Oud Royal votives cure, run the same test on Bergamot Amber with a ₹105.02 15g pack — enough for two 70g votives at 8%. You then have a direct side-by-side of a ₹5.44 amber and an ₹11.64 amber at the same load, in the same wax, cured for the same number of days, for a combined oil outlay of ₹1,404.02. A surprising number of brands discover that their customers cannot reliably tell the two apart in a 70g votive, and that the premium oil only distinguishes itself in a larger candle with a bigger melt pool.

Monthly volume, storage and the paperwork wholesale actually needs

Wholesale buying is a forecasting exercise. Get the monthly gram count right and the pack sizes choose themselves.

Work in grams, not bottles. A 200g candle at an 8% load takes 16g of oil; at 10% it takes 20g. Multiply by your monthly unit count and you have your purchase order before you have looked at a single price.

Consumption planning · 200g candles · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Oil required per month, and what it costs at each oil's best per-gram rate
Candles / month Load Oil needed Bergamot Amber @ ₹5.437/g Amber Oud Royal @ ₹11.64/g
100 8% 1,600g ₹8,699.20 ₹18,624.00
100 10% 2,000g ₹10,874.00 ₹23,280.00
300 8% 4,800g ₹26,097.60 ₹55,872.00
300 10% 6,000g ₹32,622.00 ₹69,840.00
500 8% 8,000g ₹43,496.00 ₹93,120.00
500 10% 10,000g ₹54,370.00 ₹116,400.00

Three things fall out of that table. The 8%-to-10% step costs 25% more oil, which on 500 Bergamot Amber candles is ₹10,874 a month and on 500 Amber Oud Royal candles is ₹23,280 — so decide your load from burn tests, not from a habit of rounding up. At 100 candles a month you are buying two 1kg packs of Bergamot Amber and the pack decision is trivial. At 500 candles a month you are buying eight kilos, and at that point order timing matters more than the rate: eight kilograms of a single oil is a lead-time question, not a shopping question. Set your reorder point at one month of cover plus the despatch window; how much fragrance oil a candle business needs and scaling to 1,000 orders a month both work the numbers further out.

Match the load to the wax while you are at it. Fragrance load ceilings are wax-manufacturer formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13%, so a 10% amber candle sits comfortably inside the specification. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is rated up to 10%, so 10% is the top of its range and not a target to exceed. Pouring an ₹11.64-per-gram oil above the ceiling of the wax holding it is the most expensive way there is to make a candle sweat.

Storage, once the kilos arrive

A kilogram of Amber Oud Royal is ₹11,640 of stock sitting in your workshop, and heat, light and air are the three things that degrade it. Keep bottles tightly capped, upright, in a dark cupboard, away from the stove and out of direct sun, because an Indian workshop in May is a harsher storage environment than the same room in December. Decant working quantities into a smaller bottle rather than repeatedly opening the kilogram: every opening exchanges the headspace air. And do not buy more than about three months of cover on a premium oil, however good the per-gram rate looks, because oxidised oil at ₹11.64 a gram is a more expensive write-off than oxidised oil at ₹5.44.

Documentation, GST and what to ask for
CSI supplies GST invoicing on every order, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request via WhatsApp at +91 7397976926. Ask for both before your first wholesale order, not after — an MSDS is what a courier or a stockist may ask for, and IFRA documentation states usage guidance per application category, which is the document you need if you are being asked by a retail buyer how the candle was formulated. A GST invoice is also the only version of your fragrance spend that your accountant can use for input credit, which on ₹93,120 of monthly oil is not a small consideration. Keep invoices filed by oil and by month; they are the audit trail behind every figure in your costing sheet.
The wholesale question is never "which amber is better". It is "how many of my jars can afford this one".

One closing note on range design. Amber is a base-note material, which is the property that makes both of these oils behave well in soy — heavy, resinous molecules evaporate steadily from a cooler melt pool rather than flashing off. That is also why they reward a long cure and why they pair naturally with the other warm families in the catalogue: Sandalwood at ₹5,026.80/1kg, Woody Oud at ₹4,531.20/1kg, Dark Vanilla Oud at ₹5,691/1kg and Santal Noir at ₹9,120/1kg. A festive collection built from Bergamot Amber, Sandalwood and Dark Vanilla Oud has a fragrance cost between ₹80.43 and ₹91.06 per 200g candle at 8%, which is a tight enough band to price the whole collection at one number. Add Amber Oud Royal on top as the single ₹2,499 signature and the range is complete. Further round-ups: best fragrance oils for festive bulk orders.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. On a page about a ₹11.64-per-gram oil the commercially convenient advice would be "buy the kilogram, the rate is better". We have told you instead to buy the 100g pack, pour all of it, and only then decide — because a customer who commits ₹11,640 to an untested scent and writes it off does not come back, and a customer who tests properly and scales does.

Every price on this page is taken from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and specification always take precedence. There is no single-note amber oil in the catalogue; the two real products are Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil and Amber Oud Royal, and this page names them rather than a generic "amber" that would be easier to sell. The 10% and 13% figures are the fragrance loads stated by the wax manufacturers for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks respectively — formulation limits describing how much oil each wax will hold, not regulatory limits.

CSI carries 92 fragrance oils in the Fragrance Oils collection. For wholesale pricing, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation, or help sizing a wick to a specific jar diameter, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Does CSI sell a plain amber fragrance oil wholesale?
No. There is no standalone single-note amber in the catalogue. The two amber oils CSI stocks are Bergamot Amber Fragrance Oil, which is amber with a citrus opening, and Amber Oud Royal, which is amber on an oud base. Order by the product name — a purchase order that says only "amber" cannot be fulfilled accurately.
What is the cheapest wholesale rate for amber fragrance oil in India?
At CSI, ₹5.44 per gram for Bergamot Amber — ₹2,718 for 500g (₹5.436/g) or ₹5,437 for 1kg (₹5.437/g). Those two rates are effectively identical, so there is no bulk discount for jumping from 500g to 1kg on this oil. Amber Oud Royal reaches ₹11.64 per gram at ₹11,640 per kilogram, which is 2.14× the Bergamot Amber rate.
Can I buy a small sample of Amber Oud Royal before committing?
Not a small one. The smallest Amber Oud Royal pack is 100g at ₹1,299 — there is no 15g or 50g variant. The practical approach is to treat that 100g as a production run rather than a sample: at an 8% load it pours seventeen 70g votives or six 200g candles, so you get finished, saleable, testable candles out of the money instead of a part-used bottle. Bergamot Amber, by contrast, starts at ₹105.02 for 15g.
How much amber oil does a 200g candle need, and what does it cost?
At an 8% fragrance load a 200g candle takes 16g of oil and 184g of wax. That is ₹86.99 of Bergamot Amber or ₹186.24 of Amber Oud Royal at each oil's 1kg rate. At a 10% load it is 20g, so ₹108.74 and ₹232.80 respectively. Check the load against your wax: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10% — these are the wax makers' stated formulation limits.
At what retail price does Amber Oud Royal stop being worth it?
Below roughly ₹1,600. A complete 200g / 8% build with Amber Oud Royal — Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468, a 200ml amber salsa jar and a wooden wick — comes to ₹406.75 in materials. That is 45.2% of a ₹899 retail price, 27.1% of ₹1,499 and 16.3% of ₹2,499. It reaches the conventional 25%-of-retail materials mark at ₹1,627. Bergamot Amber's equivalent build is ₹219.29 and passes at every one of those price points.
How much amber oil should I order for 500 candles a month?
8kg at an 8% load, or 10kg at 10%, for 200g candles. In Bergamot Amber that is ₹43,496 or ₹54,370 a month; in Amber Oud Royal it is ₹93,120 or ₹116,400. Most brands should not run a full 500-unit month on the premium oil — a 400/100 split across the two ambers costs ₹53,420.80 and gives you both a volume range and a premium SKU. See buying fragrance oils in bulk in India for order timing and lead times.
