A 180 g candle at 8% fragrance holds 165.6 g of wax, not 180. So 30 kg of wax makes 181 candles on paper and 175 once a 3% pour allowance comes out. At an example 1.5 candles per customer order, that is about 116 orders.
116
customer orders from 30 kg of wax at 1.5 candles each · 175 candles · 165.6 g wax per candle at 8% · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How many 180 g candles does 30 kg of soy wax make? At 8% fragrance, each candle holds 180 × 0.92 = 165.6 g of wax. 30,000 ÷ 165.6 = 181.16, so 181 on paper. With a 3% pour allowance (170.57 g a candle), 175.

How many customer orders is that? It depends on your average basket. At 1 candle per order, 175. At 1.5, 116. At 2, 87. At 3, 58. See orders by basket.

Why not just divide 30 kg by 180 g? Because 180 g is the finished candle, and 14.4 g of it is fragrance. 30,000 ÷ 180 = 166, which undercounts by 15 candles: you would turn away orders your wax could fill.

What else does 30 kg of wax need? For 175 candles: 2.60 kg of fragrance oil, 175 wicks and 175 jars. Priced in three example oils, the fragrance is ₹11,311.80. See matching the rest.
The short answer
Per candle: 180 g finished at 8% = 14.4 g oil + 165.6 g wax. With 3% allowance: 170.57 g wax, 14.83 g oil.
Capacity: 30,000 g ÷ 165.6 g = 181 candles · ÷ 170.568 g = 175 realistic · naive ÷ 180 g = 166. Finished weight possible: 30 kg ÷ 0.92 = 32.61 kg.
Orders: 175 candles ÷ basket: 1 → 175 · 1.5 → 116 · 2 → 87 · 3 → 58. At 20 orders a week (1.5 each), 5.8 weeks.
What 30 kg of soy wax becomes — 180 g finished candles at 8% fragrance 30 kg soy wax in stock 30,000 g 181 candles on paper ÷ 165.6 g wax each 175 candles realistic ÷ 170.57 g with 3% 116 customer orders ÷ 1.5 candles each The naive count: 30,000 g ÷ 180 g = 166 Treats fragrance as wax — 15 candles too few It also needs 2.60 kg of fragrance oil, 175 wicks and 175 jars to become candles
Read left to right. Each 180 g candle at 8% takes 165.6 g of wax, so 30 kg is 181 candles on paper and 175 after a 3% pour allowance. Divided by an example basket of 1.5 candles, that supports 116 customer orders. The grey boxes show the two things the count hides: the naive ÷ 180 g count is 15 candles short, and the wax is only a candle once 2.60 kg of oil, a wick and a jar are added.
Straight answer
I have 30 kg of soy wax in stock and average 180 g finished candles. Approximately how many customer orders can my current wax inventory support?
First the candles. A 180 g finished candle at an 8% fragrance load is 14.4 g of oil and 165.6 g of wax, because by the CSI convention the load is a share of the finished weight. So 30,000 g ÷ 165.6 g = 181 candles on paper. Allow 3% for wax left in the jug and test pours, a working assumption, and each candle draws 170.57 g: 175 candles you can count on. Then the orders. The title does not give an order size, so this page uses an example average basket of 1.5 candles: 175 ÷ 1.5 = about 116 customer orders. At one candle an order it is 175; at two, 87. Do not divide 30 kg by 180 g. That gives 166 and undercounts by 15 candles, because it treats the fragrance as wax. Finally, wax alone is not a candle: using all 30 kg takes about 2.60 kg of fragrance oil, 175 wicks and 175 jars. If you take about 20 orders a week, the wax lasts 5.8 weeks, and the reorder should go in when roughly 10.23 kg is left.
One line: 30 kg ÷ 165.6 g = 181 on paper, 175 real, ≈ 116 orders at 1.5 candles — and it needs 2.60 kg of oil to get there.
30 kg of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks is three 10 kg bags: ₹17,997.00, or about ₹155.15 of wax per customer order at 1.5 candles. To use it all you need about 2.60 kg of fragrance — ₹11,311.80 across the three example oils below.

From 30 kg to candles

Most capacity mistakes run the other way from what you expect. Dividing by the finished weight does not over-promise. It under-promises.

When a maker says "180 g candles", they almost always mean the finished candle: wax and fragrance together, weighed in the jar. At an 8% fragrance load, 8% of that 180 g is oil, 14.4 g, and the other 92% is wax, 165.6 g. That 165.6 g is the only number that should divide into a wax stock. If you start from a wax quantity, the finished weight you can make is wax ÷ (1 − load): 30 kg ÷ 0.92 = 32.61 kg of finished candle, which is exactly 181.16 candles of 180 g.

30 kg of wax · 180 g finished candles · CSI convention: load = share of finished weight
Four ways to count, one right answer
Method Working Candles Verdict
Divide by finished weight 30,000 ÷ 180 166.67 → 166 Undercounts by 15. Treats oil as wax.
Divide by wax per candle 30,000 ÷ 165.6 181.16 → 181 Correct on paper
Add a 3% pour allowance 30,000 ÷ 170.568 175.88 → 175 The number to plan with
Finished weight possible 30 kg ÷ (1 − 0.08) 32.61 kg = 181.16 × 180 g

The 15-candle gap between the naive count and the true one matters when you are deciding whether to accept an order. Tell a wholesale customer you can make 166 and you have left 15 candles of capacity on the table. The 3% allowance works the other way, and it should: it is the honest deduction for wax that never reaches a jar. Use your own figure once you have tracked it. For more on the same trap with a fixed order, see treating finished weight as pure wax weight.

30 kg of wax · 180 g finished · 3% allowance · stay within the wax maker's stated ceiling
Your fragrance load changes the count
Load Oil per candle Wax per candle Wax with allowance Candles from 30 kg
6% 10.8 g 169.2 g 174.28 g 172
8% 14.4 g 165.6 g 170.57 g 175
10% 18 g 162 g 166.86 g 179

A higher load puts more oil and less wax in each candle, so the same 30 kg makes a few more candles: 172 at 6%, 179 at 10%. It also costs more in fragrance per candle, and it must stay inside the wax maker's stated ceiling: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are rated up to 13% and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10%. Those are formulation maximums, not targets. Choose the load for the candle, then count.

From candles to customer orders

Orders are candles divided by your average basket, and the basket is a number only you have. Look at the last month or two of orders and divide candles shipped by orders shipped. Gift sets, bundles and single-candle orders all pull it in different directions. The table shows four common shapes.

175 candles from 30 kg (8%, 3% allowance) · basket = average candles per order, from your records
How many customer orders 30 kg supports
Average basket Orders supported Wax per order Wax value per order (Chunks ₹5,999.00 / 10 kg)
1 candle 175 170.57 g ₹102.32
1.5 candles 116 255.85 g ₹153.49
2 candles 87 341.14 g ₹204.65
3 candles 58 511.70 g ₹306.97

The example basket of 1.5 candles gives 116 orders. Two things shift it in practice. Bundles and gift sets push the basket up and the order count down, even though the candle count is unchanged. And a few of those 175 candles will not reach customers at all: seconds, a cracked jar, the one you keep as a retained sample of the batch. If you want a figure you can promise, knock a few more off.

Counting orders from the wax alone. The 116 orders are only real if the rest of each candle is on the shelf too. If you have 20 jars, you have 20 candles, whatever the wax says. Before you promise a number, check every component: wax, fragrance, wicks, jars, lids and boxes. The smallest count wins. Matching the rest of the stock below prices what 30 kg of wax needs.
Keep one retained candle per batch
Set aside one candle from every batch, labelled with the date and the wax and oil lots. If a customer reports a problem three months later, you can burn the same batch side by side. It costs a candle per batch and saves arguments. Plan it into the count.

How many weeks the wax lasts

Capacity is a number. Cover is a date. You need both before you take on a wholesale order.

Orders supported becomes weeks of cover once you divide by how many orders you take a week. The title does not give a rate, so three are shown. Use your own average over the last two months.

175 candles · basket 1.5 candles · 7-day week
Weeks of cover by order rate
Orders a week Candles a week Weeks 30 kg lasts Days
10 15 11.7 82
20 30 5.8 41
30 45 3.9 27

At 20 orders a week, 30 kg is about 5.8 weeks of wax, a comfortable working stock for a small brand. At 30 orders a week it is under four weeks, and the reorder has to go in within days. The fragrance countdown page does the same calculation for oil with dated order-by points.

The CSI principle
Divide wax by wax, not by candle.
A 180 g candle at 8% holds 165.6 g of wax. 30 kg ÷ 165.6 g is 181; 30 kg ÷ 180 g is 166. Every capacity figure, every order you accept and every reorder line sits on that first division.

Matching the rest of the stock

If you plan to pour all 30 kg, the fragrance has to be on the shelf too. Each candle takes 14.4 g of oil, 14.83 g with the same 3% allowance, so 175 candles need 2.60 kg. That total is split by scent according to what sells. The example below splits the 175 candles across three CSI oils and rounds each to real in-stock bottles of 50 g and above.

Fragrance to use all 30 kg · 14.83 g per candle · CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026
The oil 30 kg of wax needs
Scent (example) Candles Oil needed Bottles Cost
Orchard Pear 60 889.92 g 1 × 500 g + 4 × 100 g ₹3,390.00
Gardenia 60 889.92 g 1 × 500 g + 4 × 100 g ₹3,898.00
Cinnamon Vanilla 55 815.76 g 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g + 1 × 50 g ₹4,023.80
Total 175 2.60 kg ₹11,311.80

Wicks follow the candle count one for one, plus a few spares for crooked sets and test pours: 175 + 9 = 184, which rounds to 1 × 100 + 1 × 50 + 2 × 20 Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 for ₹1,121.00. Jars depend on your container; CSI does not publish fill weights for most of its jars, so pour and weigh one before you commit to 180 g. Lids, labels and boxes are not CSI prices; add your own quotes.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. You do not need to buy the fragrance for all 30 kg of wax today. Wax keeps well; an open oil bottle is better used within a sensible time. Buy the oil for the next few weeks of orders, by scent, and let the wax sit. At 20 orders a week, that is about 1.33 kg of oil for three weeks, not 2.60 kg.

When to reorder the wax

Knowing what 30 kg supports also tells you when it stops supporting you. At 20 orders a week and 1.5 candles each, you pour 30 candles a week, 731.01 g of wax a day. With a 7-day delivery (your own figure; CSI does not publish delivery times) and a 7-day buffer, the reorder line is 14 days of wax: 10.23 kg, about 60 candles' worth. From a full 30 kg you reach that line in about 3.8 weeks.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A capacity page could easily end with "buy more wax". This one shows that 30 kg supports more candles than the naive count suggests, and tells you not to buy the fragrance for all of it at once.

Every wax and oil price here comes from live CSI listings pulled on 24 September 2026; wick figures are from the September 2026 wick pull. Candle counts, orders, weeks of cover and the reorder line are arithmetic on the reader's figures (30 kg of wax, 180 g finished candles) and on labelled assumptions, shown so you can check them.

The 8% load, 3% allowance, 1.5-candle basket, order rates, 7-day delivery and 7-day buffer are working assumptions to replace with your own records. CSI does not publish delivery times or most jar fill weights. Frequently asked questions

How many 180 g candles can I make from 30 kg of wax?
At 8% fragrance, 181 on paper (30,000 ÷ 165.6 g) and 175 with a 3% pour allowance. At 6% it is 172, at 10% 179, with the same allowance.
How much wax is in a 180 g candle?
At an 8% fragrance load, 165.6 g. The load is a share of the finished weight: 180 × 0.08 = 14.4 g of oil, 180 − 14.4 = 165.6 g of wax. At 10%, 162 g of wax; at 6%, 169.2 g.
How many orders can 30 kg of candle wax support?
Divide the 175 candles by your average basket: 175 orders at one candle each, 116 at 1.5, 87 at two and 58 at three.
How much fragrance oil do I need for 30 kg of wax?
At 180 g candles and 8%, 14.4 g per candle, 14.83 g with allowance: 2.60 kg for all 175 candles. As a rule, oil = wax × load ÷ (1 − load): 30 kg × 0.08 ÷ 0.92 = 2.61 kg before allowance.
Why is dividing wax by candle weight wrong?
Because the candle weight includes the fragrance. 30,000 ÷ 180 = 166, but the real figure is 181. You would under-promise by 15 candles.
When should I reorder wax if I have 30 kg?
At 20 orders a week of 1.5 candles, with a 7-day delivery and 7-day buffer, at about 10.23 kg, roughly 3.8 weeks after a full 30 kg. My Wax Supplier Takes 10 Days to Deliver — At What Stock Level Should I Reorder if I Produce 50 Candles Every Day? covers a longer delivery.
