Consolidating saves time, paperwork and delivery charges; it concentrates risk. Here is the trade-off, and the range CSI actually covers.
What CSI covers
| Category | CSI range |
|---|---|
| Soy and other waxes | 15 products |
| Fragrance oils | 93 products |
| Wicks | 7 products |
| Containers | 81 products |
| Dyes | 25 products |
| Moulds | 62 products |
| Accessories | 65 products |
| Packaging | 10 products |
For and against one supplier
| For | Against |
|---|---|
| One order, one invoice, one delivery | One point of failure in a stock-out |
| Easier batch records | Less price competition |
| Fewer delivery charges | May not be best in every category |
Consolidating your purchasing, item by item
You are running a growing candle business and ordering from several suppliers at once. Consolidating sounds tidy, and often is. The mistake is to decide it for the whole list in one go. Some items are safe to move to one supplier. Others are the ones that would stop your business if they ran short, and those deserve more thought.
Sort your list into two groups
Write down every raw material you buy in a normal month. Mark the few that your best sellers cannot do without: usually your main wax, your top two or three oils and the wick size tuned to them. Everything else, such as dyes, spare jars, tools and packaging, is the easy group. Moving the easy group to one supplier saves you orders, invoices and separate delivery charges, with little risk if one item is briefly out of stock.
Check the range against your actual needs
CSI lists 15 candle waxes, 93 fragrance oils, 7 wick products, 81 containers, 25 dyes, 62 moulds, 65 accessories and 10 packaging products. Those counts tell you breadth, not fit. Take your own list and check each line: is this exact jar, this oil, this wick there? A category with many products may still not have the one jar shape your brand is built on, and a category with few may have exactly what you use.
What one supplier does well
Delivery charges are a real cost for small workshops; one CSI buyer wrote that "the delivery charges are very high which is restricting me". One larger order carries one delivery charge instead of several. A single GST invoice, available on request, also makes your accounts simpler, and one set of batch records is easier to keep than five.
What it does less well
It concentrates risk. If your one supplier has a problem, every material is affected at the same time. That is why the critical group should have a tested second option, even if you rarely buy from it.
Where this page fits
This page does one job; these pages do the next ones. In the Candle Business series, CSI-998 (five suppliers — when consolidating makes sense) covers the business side.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We publish every pack price, so every per-kilogram and per-candle figure here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger bag is not cheaper.
Prices are taken from live CSI stock in September 2026. Where a product page does not publish a specification, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Assumptions: Fragrance load 8% of total candle weight, so wax is 92% of the fill (a 200 g candle = 184 g wax + 16 g oil). Order plans add a 5% wastage allowance (10% where stated for festive buffers). "Cheapest listed packs" is the lowest-cost combination of listed pack sizes, preferring fewer bags when prices tie within a few rupees. Candle counts are rounded down. Costs are core materials only and exclude jar, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST unless stated. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Pack sizes not listed on the store (2, 20, 25, 100 kg) are shown as combinations of listed packs; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
