Test the wax in three stages: 1 kg in your jars, a 10 kg production batch, then the 100 kg order. Each stage costs a small share of the one after it.
Three-stage test
| Stage | Quantity | Cost (CSI 464) | What you learn |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage 1 | 1 kg | ₹507.40 | 5 candles in your jars; judge top, adhesion, throw |
| Stage 2 | 10 kg | ₹5,074.00 | A real production batch; check consistency |
| Stage 3 | 100 kg | ₹50,740.00 (listed-pack ceiling) | Quote first; ask that it matches the tested wax |
Set the pass marks before each stage, not after
You are about to commit a large sum to one wax. On listed packs, 100 kg of CSI 464 costs ₹50,740.00. The staged test protects that money, but only if each stage has a clear question and a pass mark you decide in advance. Otherwise a stage that went "fairly well" slides into the next one by default.
Stage one asks: does it work in my jars?
One kilogram gives five candles of 200 g. That costs ₹507.40, which is 507.40 ÷ 50,740, exactly 1% of the bulk order. Write your pass marks before you pour: an acceptable top, clean adhesion to the glass, a hot throw you would sell, and a full melt pool by your normal burn time. If any mark fails, adjust wick or method and repeat stage one. Do not move on hoping stage two will be different.
Stage two asks: does it survive real production?
A 10 kg bag at ₹5,074.00 is 10% of the bulk cost. The point is to pour it the way you really work: your full-size pot, your usual pour rhythm, your ordinary room on an ordinary day. Stage one candles are poured with care and attention. Stage two shows what happens when you are pouring 54 candles and packing orders at the same time. Count how many you would ship. That reject rate is the number to carry forward.
Stage three asks: is it the same wax?
Before you pay for 100 kg, message CSI on WhatsApp (+91 7397976926), name the exact product you tested and ask for a quote on that basis. When the order arrives, pour a few candles from the first bag and compare them with your stage two candles before you start full production.
If Pearl is your candidate
The same ladder is cheaper on Pearl: ₹450.00 for 1 kg, ₹4,248.00 for 10 kg and ₹42,480.00 for 100 kg as two 50 kg bags. Because Pearl publishes no fragrance load, stage one should also include a pour at a higher load than your usual 8%, so you know how much headroom you have.

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We publish every pack price, so every per-kilogram and per-candle figure here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger bag is not cheaper.
Prices are taken from live CSI stock in September 2026. Where a product page does not publish a specification, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Assumptions: Fragrance load 8% of total candle weight, so wax is 92% of the fill (a 200 g candle = 184 g wax + 16 g oil). Order plans add a 5% wastage allowance (10% where stated for festive buffers). "Cheapest listed packs" is the lowest-cost combination of listed pack sizes, preferring fewer bags when prices tie within a few rupees. Candle counts are rounded down. Costs are core materials only and exclude jar, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST unless stated. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Pack sizes not listed on the store (2, 20, 25, 100 kg) are shown as combinations of listed packs; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
