CSI materials for 100 velvet-jar favours in British Rose, allowances included · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What does one favour need? In the 50 g Heart Velvet Jar at 8%: 4.0 g oil + 46.0 g wax, one wick, one sticker, one ₹45.00 jar. In the 85 g Golden Tin: 6.8 g + 78.2 g, ₹30.00 tin.

What does the pilot cost? ₹10,876.00 for 100 velvet favours in British Rose; ₹12,559.60 in tins; ₹13,282.00 for velvet in Smoked Rose Royale.

What allowances? 3 client-approval samples, ÷ (1 − 5%) for cosmetic rejects, 5% pour loss on wax and oil, 3% breakage on the velvet jars, none on tins — all labelled assumptions.

And before the pilot? An 18-favour kit: 2 containers × 2 roses × 2 wicks × 2, plus shelf favours — ₹3,105.80.
The short answer
Answer: For 100 rose favours in CSI's 50 g velvet jar: Chunks, British Rose (one 500 g), Eco Thin C1, 112 jars and stickers — ₹10,876.00 after approval samples, rejects, pour loss and breakage. Test first with an 18-favour kit (₹3,105.80).
Why: Only two CSI containers have published fills — the 50 g velvet jar and the 85 g tin — so favour maths can be exact. Wick, rose and container still need testing together.
Method: One favour's BOM → kit (container × rose × wick) → client approval → pilot stack: samples, rejects, pour loss, breakage, packs. The hub method.

Straight answer
I want to make a rose candle for wedding favours — what raw materials do I need for a 100-piece pilot order?
For 100 favours in CSI's 50 g Heart Cutout Velvet Jar with British Rose at 8%, you need about 5.24 kg of wax, 455 g of oil, 109 wicks and 112 jars. That includes 3 client-approval samples, a 5% cosmetic-reject allowance, 5% pour loss on wax and oil and 3% breakage on the velvet jars (treated as fragile) — all labelled assumptions. Rounded to real CSI packs — Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 1 × 5 kg + 1 × 500 g, British Rose 1 × 500 g, Eco Thin C1 1 × 50-pack + 3 × 20-pack, velvet jars 11 × pack of 10 + 2 × single and stickers — the CSI subtotal is ₹10,876.00. In the 85 g Golden Tin it is ₹12,559.60. Before the pilot, test container, rose and wick together in an 18-favour kit (₹3,105.80), and buy the pilot oil only after the client approves the sample.
One line: price one favour, test it, then multiply — with the allowances in order.
For a 100-piece rose favour pilot in CSI's 50 g Heart Cutout Velvet Jar with British Rose, the CSI materials come to ₹10,876.00 after approval samples, rejects, pour loss and breakage. The 18-favour development kit before it is ₹3,105.80. British Rose Fragrance Oil starts at ₹94.40 for 15 g.

Start with one favour, not with one hundred

A wedding favour is a tiny candle with a big deadline. Its bill of materials fits on one line; its risks do not.

A 100-piece pilot order is a trial: a couple, a planner or a venue wants to see a run of favours before committing to the full guest list. That makes it a different purchase from a 100-candle production run. It has a client approval in the middle, a cosmetic standard (every favour is looked at closely on a table), a fixed date, and usually a second, larger order behind it that depends on how the pilot goes. The materials list has to cover the 100 favours, the samples the client approves, the favours you reject on looks, and nothing else.

The good news is that the container question is easier than for any full-size candle. CSI has only two containers with a published fill, and both suit favours: the Heart Cutout Velvet Jar, Red, 50 g wax capacity (₹45.00 each, ₹450.00 for 10; the white version is out of stock) and the Golden Aluminium Tin, 85 g fill (₹30.00 each in a 12-pack). No fill check is needed. The jar's listing says "50 g wax capacity"; this page treats 50 g as the finished favour, so at an 8% working load it is 4.0 g of oil and 46.0 g of wax. If you read it as 50 g of wax alone, the oil at a true 8% would be 4.35 g and the favour 54.35 g — weigh one to see which your fill line gives.

The CSI principle
Price the favour first. Multiply second. Add allowances third.
Once one favour is right on paper and on the table, a hundred is arithmetic — and the allowances are what separate a pilot that ships on time from one that runs short the night before.

Two roses at two price points

CSI lists several rose-family oils; this page compares two that sit far apart on price. British Rose is near the top of CSI's best-selling sort and one of the few oils with a real per-gram break: ₹6.29 a gram at 15 g, ₹3.42 at 100 g, ₹3.19 at 500 g and ₹3.07 at 1 kg — the 1 kg is 10.3% cheaper per gram than the 100 g. Smoked Rose Royale has no pack below 100 g (₹799.00) and costs ₹8.00 a gram at every size. CSI publishes no throw or composition data for either; which rose suits the wedding is for the couple and your test, not the price list.

CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026 · oil per favour at 8%
What each rose costs inside one favour
Oil Smallest pack Rate at 500 g Oil in a 50 g velvet favour Oil in an 85 g tin favour
British Rose 15 g · ₹94.40 ₹3.19/g ₹12.74 ₹21.66
Smoked Rose Royale 100 g · ₹799.00 ₹8.00/g ₹31.99 ₹54.39

At favour size the oil is a small number either way — but it is multiplied by every guest. The real difference in the pilot is the pack: British Rose can be tested from two 15 g bottles; Smoked Rose Royale cannot be tested from less than 100 g, so a test of it leaves most of a bottle over. That is fine if it wins (the leftover is pilot oil) and a cost if it does not.

The development kit: container, rose and wick together

Favours are small enough that a full cross of the open choices is affordable: two containers × two roses × two wicks × two favours, plus one British Rose shelf favour per container, is 18 pieces. One wax is held fixed — Chunks, whose page states a 13% maximum, giving headroom over 8% — because the client is choosing the look and the scent, not the wax. If you sell a different wax already, use it; the vanilla post shows when a wax belongs in the first purchase.

Smoked Rose Royale is the single biggest line: ₹799.00 for a 100 g bottle when the kit needs 45.4 g. If the couple has already said "classic rose" or the budget is fixed, drop it and the kit is ₹2,306.80. The velvet jars are cheapest here as 1 × pack of 5 + 4 × single (₹405.00) rather than a 10-pack (₹450.00); the tins only come in twelves. The Eco Thin C1 10-pack is out of stock on the 4 October re-check, so it is a 20-pack.

Keep the white velvet jar out of the plan
The Heart Cutout Velvet Jar's white version is out of stock on the 4 October re-check; only red is buyable. If the couple's colour scheme needs white, ask on WhatsApp before you show a sample — do not promise a container you cannot buy a hundred of.
The shortcut: pouring the pilot straight from the client's chosen rose, untested in the tiny container. A 50 g favour has a small diameter, and in general practice a wick that suits a bigger jar can run a tall flame or drown in a small one. CSI publishes no wick-per-diameter chart. Fix: screen two wicks in each container before the client sees a sample — the approval sample should be a favour you would ship a hundred of.

Testing a favour the way a guest will see it

1
Pour all eighteen in one sessionChunks' page states oil addition at 80–90°C and pour at 75–80°C in its spec table (its step list also shows 70–80°C). Weigh every favour: with published fills, a favour far from 50 g or 85 g is a pouring problem to fix now.
2
Judge the top surface coldFavours are inspected on a table under lights. At 48 hours and 7 days (labelled checkpoints) photograph each top: smoothness, sinkholes, frosting, wet spots on the velvet jar's inner wall. These are your cosmetic reject criteria for the pilot — write them down.
3
Burn for a guest's eveningTwo 2–3 hour cycles (a labelled working practice for small candles). Record pool to the edge, flame height against a ruler, soot on a white card, the container's base reading. A wick with a taller, sootier flame or hotter base than the other is out in that container.
4
Smell the two roses blindCold, lid off, and hot at 1 m. Score 0–5. For favours, cold throw on the table often matters as much as hot throw at home.
5
Choose one favour to show the clientThe approval sample is the winning container, rose and wick. Keep its twin as your retained reference for the pilot's cosmetic standard.

Safety stays a knock-out: "no worse than the other candidates, within your container supplier's guidance and the recognised candle fire-safety standard you work to" (ASTM F2417 is a commonly cited US standard). Favours are often lit on crowded tables; a flame that is merely acceptable in a kitchen test is not good enough here.

The 100-piece pilot list

A hundred favours ordered is not a hundred favours poured.

The pilot stack follows the series order. (1) Approval samples are counted as whole favours: 3 here — one for the couple, one for the planner, one retained — a labelled assumption. (2) Rejects are allowed for by dividing by (1 − 5%); favours are judged closely, so the example reject rate is higher than for a jar candle. (3) Pour loss of 5% applies to wax and oil only. (4) Breakage applies to fragile containers only: a labelled 3% for the velvet jar (treated as fragile — check its material on the product page), none for the metal tin. (5) Everything is rounded to real in-stock CSI packs. All four allowance figures are yours to replace.

Two rounding details. British Rose's 455.4 g for the velvet pilot fits in one 500 g bottle (₹1,593.00), and that is cheaper than buying 100 g bottles; for the tin pilot the 774.1 g is covered by 1 × 500 g + 3 × 100 g. The velvet jars come as 11 × pack of 10 + 2 × single for 112 jars — eleven 10-packs and two singles is cheaper than twelve 10-packs. The per-favour figures include the leftovers you carry into the full order, so the real per-favour cost on repeat orders is lower.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. The dearer rose is not the more "wedding" rose because it costs more. At pilot quantities Smoked Rose Royale adds ₹2,406.00 to the velvet pilot; if the couple cannot tell the difference blind, or prefers British Rose, buy British Rose. And the tin is the cheaper container per favour (₹30.00 against ₹45.00) but holds 85 g, so it carries more wax and oil — on this page's numbers the velvet pilot in British Rose is ₹1,683.60 cheaper than the tin pilot. Choose on what the couple wants on the table.

Buy now, buy after the client approves

The series rule is that production quantities of the wick — and of a new oil on a client-approval order — are bought only after the test passes and, here, after the client signs off the sample. Containers and wax that are the same whichever rose wins can be bought earlier, once the container is chosen.

If the full order follows, the 500 × 100 g wedding-candle post handles a two-fragrance wedding order at scale, the 100 × 100 g rose favours list sizes a slightly bigger favour, and the client-approval post explains why the oil waits for sign-off. If the couple wants a custom colour, the custom-colour wedding post adds dye trials and the pastel-pink rose post builds the dye ladder.

For the brief → kit → production method on a full-size candle, start at the lavender hub. If favours are one of three sizes you plan to sell, the 50 g / 200 g / 500 g plan combines them in one procurement list.

For a favour, the allowance is not padding. It is the difference between a hundred on the table and ninety-four.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. This page shows the cheaper rose and the cheaper pilot next to the dearer ones, tells you to drop the second rose from the kit if the couple has already chosen, and keeps ribbons, tags and bags out of the CSI total because we do not sell them.

Wax prices are CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026. Oil prices are CSI live pricing, pulled 24 September 2026, stock re-checked 4 October 2026. Frequently asked questions

How much wax for 100 candle favours?
For 50 g favours at 8%, 46.0 g of wax each — 4,600 g net for 100, or 5,237 g with this page's approval samples, rejects and 5% pour loss. For 85 g tins, 8,902 g.
How much fragrance oil for 100 wedding favour candles?
At 8%: 400 g net for 50 g favours (455 g with allowances — one 500 g bottle of British Rose), 680 g net for 85 g tins.
What is the best container for candle wedding favours?
CSI has two with published fills: the Heart Cutout Velvet Jar (50 g wax capacity, ₹45.00) and the Golden Aluminium Tin (85 g, ₹30.00). Choose on the look the couple wants; test the wick in the one you choose.
How many extra favours should I make for a wedding order?
Count client-approval samples as whole favours, then allow for cosmetic rejects (this page uses 5%), then pour loss on wax and oil and breakage on glass only. Replace the example figures with your own from the kit.
Which rose fragrance oil is best for wedding favours?
CSI publishes no throw data, so none is best on paper. Test two side by side in the favour container, blind, cold and hot; this page compares British Rose and Smoked Rose Royale at two price points.
Should I buy the fragrance before the couple approves the sample?
Buy only the kit quantity. Pilot oil and wicks wait for approval; wax and containers can be bought once the container is chosen, because they are the same whichever rose wins.
One favour, then a hundred
Test the favour in its real container. Buy the pilot after the client says yes.

About this guide: Written by the CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA team. Product recommendations reflect the CSI range. The favour BOM and pilot stack apply to any small-format candle order.

Customer reviews: The six reviews at the top of this page are genuine, published Judge.me reviews left by CSI customers on the product pages named on each card — Eco Candle Wicks, Premium Candle Wicking Needle and Bamboo Wick Holder. They are general product reviews, not assessments of the guidance set out here. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me and wording is unedited. "Verified buyer" appears only on the three reviews Judge.me recorded as verified — Monika Deep, Subhankar Roy and Sneha Tamang; the reviews from Ashwini, LJ and Lalitha Jagan are published but not recorded as verified, and carry no badge.

Non-price figures and assumptions: CSI convention: fragrance load is a share of the finished candle weight (50 g at 8% = 4.0 g oil + 46.0 g wax; 85 g = 6.8 g + 78.2 g). The Heart Cutout Velvet Jar's 50 g wax capacity and the Golden Aluminium Tin's 85 g fill are CSI's published figures; this page treats 50 g as the finished favour. What CSI's product pages state (quoted, not CSI test results): Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — maximum fragrance load 13%, fragrance addition 80–90°C, pour 75–80°C in the spec table (the step list also shows 70–80°C), cure minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 — fragrance load up to 10%, an 80–90°C melt/pour working range in the spec table, shelf life 60 months cool and dry; Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 — melting point 50–53°C, pour 58–60°C, fragrance load up to 13%, shelf life 60 months cool and dry; Natural Soy Pearl — no melt point, pour temperature, fragrance ceiling or shelf life published. Kit design, burn cycles, cure checkpoints, approval samples, reject, pour-loss and breakage allowances are labelled assumptions; ribbon, tag and bag figures are examples. CSI publishes no throw or wick-per-diameter data and no numeric safety limits; ASTM F2417 is named only as a commonly cited standard. Material costs exclude labour, packaging, freight and GST. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November; the wedding season runs roughly November–February.
