What Kolkata changes about buying in bulk
Kolkata is humid subtropical, with a hot, sticky summer, a strong June–September monsoon and a short, mild winter. Humidity is the storage problem here: sealed wick and packaging stock matter as much as the oil. Oil itself keeps well sealed, cool and away from light.

Gilli Mitti — the smell of rain on earth — is an obvious story in a city with a monsoon like Kolkata's; test it early because earthy profiles need a careful wick.
Kali Puja falls on the night of Diwali, so Kolkata's lamp demand peaks on the same date as the rest of India — a second, separate peak after Puja.
