Bar length is the wax cost of one 200 g pillar at 8%. The two paraffins are cheapest per pillar but are listed only up to 1 kg; the two waxes you can reorder in 10 kg packs cost ₹110.40 and ₹147.20. Additives at their stated rates change the per-pillar cost by a few rupees — the test result they buy matters more than the rupees.
Which pillar candle wax should I buy in bulk in India, and what else does a pillar line need?
For a soy pillar line, buy Soy Pillar Wax: it is the one CSI wax made to be poured into a pillar mould, and it lists at ₹600 per kilo in every pack from 500 g to 10 kg — ₹6,000 for 10 kg, about 54 × 200 g pillars at 8%. For a natural-wax premium line, Beeswax Pellets are ₹800 per kilo flat to 10 kg. Fully refined paraffin (₹354/kg) and semi-refined paraffin (₹220/kg, stated melting point 80–90°C) are cheaper per pillar but listed only up to 1 kg, so bulk paraffin is a WhatsApp quote. Soy Pillar Wax's page states no fragrance load, melt or pour temperature, so treat your first kilo as a test: plain wax against microcrystalline wax at its stated 3–7% for pillars, and against Vybar at its stated 1% recommended. Seal the wick hole with Candle Mold Sealer (₹472 for 80 pieces), and match the wick to the mould diameter where a page states one. Budget for moulds first: ten 5 × 10 cm ribbed pillar moulds cost ₹10,608.20, more than the 10 kg of wax they will pour.
One line: Soy Pillar Wax at a flat ₹600/kg is the bulk soy pillar wax; test it plain, with 3–7% microcrystalline and with 1% Vybar in one mould before you buy ten moulds and 10 kg.
Setting up a pillar line? Soy Pillar Wax 1 kg at ₹600 for the test, Microcrystalline Wax 500 g at ₹149, Vybar 50 g at ₹156 and Candle Mold Sealer at ₹472 — then 10 kg at ₹6,000 once a pillar passes.
A container candle only has to stay put. A pillar has to leave the mould, stand up, and burn without the glass that holds a container candle together.
Container waxes are formulated to cling. CSI 464 and CSI 468 are stated for single-pour container use, and their pages claim glass adhesion as a feature. In a pillar mould that same cling is the problem: the candle has to release cleanly, keep a crisp edge, and hold its shape on a shelf in an Indian summer. That is why a pillar line starts with a different wax, not a different technique.
It also changes what "bulk" means. In a container line the jar is a consumable you buy by the hundred. In a pillar line the mould is capital — reused pour after pour — and the wax is the only raw material that scales with output. So a bulk pillar order is two decisions: how many moulds sets your daily capacity, and how many kilos that capacity consumes.
The mistake: pouring leftover container wax into a pillar mould. It is tempting when a 10 kg bag of Luxury Soy Chunks is open and a customer asks for pillars. The Chunks page describes a wax for "container and jar candles"; nothing on it suggests free-standing use. You risk a pillar that is hard to release or soft at the edges, and you will have no stated specification to diagnose it against. If you want to sell pillars, test Soy Pillar Wax at ₹600 for a kilo, and keep container wax for jars. The format choice itself is covered in container candles vs pillar candles.
The pillar waxes CSI lists, and in what packs
Four CSI waxes say on their product pages that they can make pillars. The table sets out what each page actually states, the largest pack you can add to cart, and the wax inside a 200 g pillar at 8% (184 g of wax, 16 g of oil). None of the four states a fragrance load, and only semi-refined paraffin states a temperature.

Worked out above: wax per pillar = 184 g × price per gram. Three facts shape the buying decision. Only two pillar waxes are listed at 10 kg, and both are flat-priced, so a 10 kg bag is about continuity of supply, not a cheaper kilo. The paraffins stop at 1 kg — ten 200 g pillars need 1.84 kg, two bags, but a month of production is a WhatsApp quote. And no page gives you a recipe: every pillar wax here arrives without a stated fragrance load, and three of four without a temperature. That is not a reason to avoid them. It is the reason the test section of this guide exists.
Where to start on temperature when the page is silent
Soy Pillar Wax states no melt or pour temperature. Two other CSI pages give general guidance you can start from: the Vybar page says to heat wax to the recommended melting temperature for your wax type, "typically 80-90°C for most candle waxes", and the Luxury Soy Chunks page says fragrance goes in "typically 80-90°C for soy wax". Start there, log the actual thermometer reading for every pour, and let your test pillars — not a forum post — set the final numbers.

Soy Pillar Wax (Specially made for Pillar and Designer Candles)
The bulk soy pillar wax. Its page describes melting the chunks, adding fragrance oil and dye, and pouring "into your chosen pillar candle mold", and says the chunks suit a wide range of pillar mould shapes and sizes. Every pack lists at ₹600 per kilo, so a 500 g test bag costs no more per pillar than a 10 kg production bag. It is also the most-reviewed wax on this page: one CSI customer writes that it is "really good to make pillar candles and for moulds". With no stated load or temperatures, run the test below before committing to 10 kg.
The other pillar wax listed to 10 kg. Its page names pillars, votives, tealights and containers, and describes pellets that melt quickly and cleanly. Only Yellow is listed as a variant, although the description mentions white — so plan colour around yellow unless WhatsApp confirms otherwise. At ₹36.80 more wax per 200 g pillar than Soy Pillar Wax, beeswax suits a line priced as natural and premium, not a line competing on price. Method notes are in how to make beeswax pillar candles.
The page describes a low melting point, even melting and "superb adhesion", for candles "from traditional pillars to elegant container candles" — but gives no numbers. At ₹65.14 per 200 g pillar it is ₹45.26 cheaper than Soy Pillar Wax, and paraffin is often chosen for crisp, detailed designer shapes. The catch for a bulk buyer is supply: 500 g and 1 kg are the only listed packs. Not a base wax but the additive with the clearest pillar guidance on the store. The page says to blend 1–10% into your main wax, with 3–7% for pillar candles, 1–5% for hardening blends and 8–10% for detailed or sculptural work, and lists "reduces cracking in pillar and molded candles" among its benefits. At ₹299 per kilo, 5% of a 184 g pillar is 9.2 g — ₹2.75. A single 1 kg slab treats 14.3 kg to 33.3 kg of base wax across the stated pillar range.
Additives at their stated rates — and nothing more
An additive is a fix for a problem you have seen. Adding three of them to a wax you have not yet poured is a recipe with no control.
Four finishing and performance products on CSI are relevant to pillars. Two state usage rates, one states none, and one is a surface finish applied after the candle is made. The table prices each per 200 g pillar and per 10 kg of base wax at the rates the product pages give, treating the percentage as a share of wax weight.

Depends on coats and pillar size
The rupees are small. At the stated rates, microcrystalline adds ₹1.65–₹3.85 to a 200 g pillar and Vybar at its recommended 1% adds ₹5.74; even both together add less than ₹10. The expensive part of an additive is not its price — it is changing two things at once and not knowing which one fixed the crack or caused the mottling. Test one additive per pour.
The mistake: adding Vybar after the fragrance. The Vybar page is explicit: "Always add Vybar to your melted wax before adding fragrance and colour." It also says Vybar "does not change optimal pour temperatures" and gives its own worked example — "For 500g of wax at 1%: add 5g of Vybar." Weigh it on a ₹354 scale, melt it into the base wax, then add oil and dye. More on what it does: what Vybar does in candles.
Stearic acid is widely used in pillar making, but CSI's page describes its high melting point and binding properties without stating a usage rate, and the largest listed pack is 200 g. If you want to try it, read how much stearic acid to add to candles, then test it in one mould against the plain wax — and don't combine it with microcrystalline or Vybar in the same trial.
Moulds, sealer and wicks: the capital side of a pillar line
A mould pours one pillar per cycle, so the number of moulds you own sets your daily output. The table lists CSI pillar moulds with the sizes their pages or variant names state. Most do not state a temperature rating; the silicone moulds that do are marked.

What each mould makes, what it costs, and what ten of them cost
Compare the last column with the wax. Ten 5 × 10 cm ribbed moulds cost ₹10,608.20; 10 kg of Soy Pillar Wax costs ₹6,000. The moulds are paid for once and spread over every pour; the wax is bought again every time. That is why the order of purchase matters: one mould and one kilo first, ten moulds second, 10 kg third. Output is simple arithmetic you control — if a pillar in your wax is ready to demould by the next day, ten moulds make ten pillars a day. Time your own demould before you count on that.
Sealer and wick holes.Candle Mold Sealer is described as a reusable substance that seals the wick hole and seams so wax does not escape; the page states 80 pieces per pack, which at ₹472 is ₹5.90 a piece. The Big Bubble mould's page warns it may not have a pre-cut wick hole, which is what the Premium Candle Wicking Needle (₹472) is for — one CSI customer notes it "doesn't damage the mould and there is no leakage of wax while pouring".
Wicks are sized by diameter, and only two CSI wick pages state one.Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made (₹12 each, 10.16 cm tall) are stated for candles exceeding 8 cm in diameter — a size like the 9.3 × 9.2 cm Big Bubble. Eco Candle Wicks Loose (5 m ₹413, 10 m ₹708) are "designed specifically for 2 inch diameters", which is 5.08 cm — close to the 5 cm ribbed moulds. Assuming 15 cm of wick per 10 cm pillar to thread the mould and tie off, 10 m cuts 66 wicks at ₹10.62 of wick each. For the 4.1 cm and 6.5 cm moulds no page states a wick, so burn-test.
The CSI principle
In a pillar line, buy capacity once and consumables often — and never buy capacity for a pillar you have not burned.
Ten ribbed moulds of an untested shape are ₹10,608.20 waiting on a recipe. One mould, 1 kg of wax, 500 g of microcrystalline, 50 g of Vybar, a pack of sealer and 5 m of wick cost ₹2,850.82 before fragrance — and tell you whether the other nine are worth buying.
The pillar test protocol when the wax page states no numbers
Soy Pillar Wax gives you a clear purpose and a flat price, and no recipe. The protocol below turns one kilo into the missing numbers: a fragrance load you trust, a pour temperature, an additive decision and a wick. It uses one or two moulds of the shape you intend to sell and changes one variable per pour.

Judge the pillar before you judge the burnFor each pour record: how easily it released, surface finish, any cracks, and whether the top sank around the wick and needed a second pour. Photograph all three side by side.

Burn after a full cureBurn each on a plate in a draught-free room for three hours. Note melt-pool width, whether the wall holds or wax runs down the side, soot, and throw at 30 and 120 minutes. Pillars that tunnel need a bigger wick; pillars that drip or blow out the wall need a smaller one.

Lock the card, then scaleKeep the pour that released cleanly and burned without collapsing, write down wax, additive and rate, load, add and pour temperature, wick and demould time, and only then order the other moulds and the 10 kg bag.
Why 8% for the test
No CSI pillar wax states a fragrance load, so the test uses 8% — the same load every guide in this series uses for costing. It is a starting point for comparison, not a stated limit. If the passing pillar's throw is weak after cure, raise the load one step on a new pour and re-check release and burn, because extra oil can change both. Ten moulds, 10 kg of wax and the consumables a soy pillar line needs
Priced above: ₹6,000 + ₹299 + ₹312 + (10 × ₹1,060.82 = ₹10,608.20) + ₹472 + ₹708 + ₹531 = ₹18,930.20. Moulds ₹10,608.20 ÷ ₹18,930.20 = 56%. Per-pillar consumables on a 200 g pillar: wax ₹110.40 + microcrystalline at 5% ₹2.75 + wick ₹10.62 = ₹123.77 before fragrance; add Vybar at 1% and it is ₹129.51.
For the second 10 kg, the basket shrinks to the wax, the additive and the wick — ₹6,000 + ₹299 + ₹708 = ₹7,007 — because the moulds, jug and sealer are already on the bench. That is the moment a pillar line starts paying back.
The mistake: pricing bulk paraffin pillars off the 1 kg bag. Fully refined paraffin looks ₹45.26 cheaper per pillar than Soy Pillar Wax, and it is — at 1 kg. But a 10 kg month is ten separate 1 kg bags at a listed ₹3,540, and a 25 kg month is not listed at all. Before you build a price list around paraffin pillars, message WhatsApp with the grade (fully or semi-refined), the kilos per month and your pincode, and plan around the answer rather than the 1 kg price. We don't state what that quote will be.
For larger soy pillar volumes, there is no pack above 10 kg: 25 kg is 2 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg at a listed ₹15,000, and 25 kg of beeswax is ₹20,000. Those listed per-kilo prices are the ceiling; recurring orders are quoted on WhatsApp, where GST invoicing is also handled.
