One thousand 200g candles need 184 kg of wax, 16 kg of fragrance oil and a thousand each of wicks, jars, wick stickers and care labels. At listed CSI prices that is ₹1,77,203.60 for a budget build and ₹3,70,344.52 for a premium one — and the more useful numbers at this scale are how many melter loads it takes and how much of it you need to pay for on day one.
₹1,77,203.60
for every raw material behind 1,000 × 200g candles, budget build, spares included · ₹168.43 of materials inside each candle · ₹1,08,957.60 on day one if you stagger it · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What raw materials do I need for 1,000 candles? For 1,000 × 200g at 8%: 184 kg of wax, 16 kg of fragrance oil, 1,000 wicks, 1,000 jars, 1,000 wick stickers and 1,000 care labels. With planning allowances: 191.36 kg of wax, 16.48 kg of oil, 50 spare jars and 50 spare wicks.

What does it cost? Budget build (Eco Soy CSI 400, four scents at 4 kg each plus small top-ups, Eco C2 wicks, clear Salsa jars): ₹1,77,203.60. Premium build (CSI 468 at 10%, premium oils, wooden wicks, matte jars): ₹3,70,344.52.

Is a candle cheaper at 1,000 than at 100? Barely, at listed prices: the same budget recipe is ₹168.43 a candle against ₹169.10 at 100. The real change is that only 5% of the cash ends up as leftover stock, against 14% at 100 — and that an order this size is worth quoting on WhatsApp.

What equipment does 1,000 candles need? A production melter: 10 loads on a 20 kg Electric Wax Melter or 19 on the 10 kg version. A 1-litre mini melter is a test-batch tool at this scale. Plan roughly 4.9 m² of cure shelf for 1,000 jars 7 cm wide.
The short answer
Same recipe, ten times over: the 1,000-candle list is the 100-candle list × 10, re-packed — 39 bags of wax, 16 kilos of oil, one 1,000-wick pack, ten 100-jar packs.
Top up in grams, not in bottles: four scents of 250 candles need 4,120g each with allowance. 4 × 1 kg plus a 100g and a 50g bottle covers it for ₹4,438.40 less than adding a 500g bottle to each.
Buy in two orders: every jar, wick and label plus half the wax and oil first (₹1,08,957.60), the second half after wave one is poured and your real losses are known (₹68,246).
₹1,77,203.60 for 1,000 candles — paid on one day, or in two orders One order, day one · ₹1,77,203.60 Wax 39 × 5 kg · ₹77,844 Oil 16.6 kg · ₹54,946.60 Jars, wicks, labels ₹44,413 Order 1 · all jars, wicks, stickers, labels + wave 1 (500 candles) · ₹1,08,957.60 ₹44,413 20 × 5 kg ₹39,920 ₹24,624.60 Order 2 · wave 2 · ₹68,246 19 × 5 kg ₹37,924 Oil ₹30,322 ← after wave 1 is poured and losses are measured
Bar lengths are to scale. Black is wax, dark grey is fragrance oil, light grey is jars, wicks, wick stickers and care labels. Staging moves ₹68,246 — 38.5% of the order — to the point where you know which scents are selling and how much you really lose in the melter.
Straight answer
I'm planning 1,000 candles. What raw materials do I need, what will they cost, and what else has to change?
A thousand 200g candles at an 8% load consume 184 kg of wax and 16 kg of fragrance oil, plus 1,000 wicks, jars, wick stickers and care labels. Allow 4% on wax and 3% on oil and you need 191.36 kg and 16.48 kg. From CSI's listed packs that is 39 × 5 kg bags of Eco Soy CSI 400 (₹77,844); four scents such as British Rose and Roasted Coffee at 4 × 1 kg plus a 100g and 50g top-up each (₹54,946.60); a 1,000-pack and a 50-pack of Eco C2 wicks (₹9,912); ten 100-packs and a 50-pack of clear 200ml Salsa jars (₹30,975); 27 wick-sticker sheets (₹2,700) and two 500-label care rolls (₹826). Total ₹1,77,203.60, or ₹168.43 of materials per candle — 67 paise less than the same candle at 100. What really changes is everything around the materials: 10 loads on a 20 kg Electric Wax Melter, about 4.9 m² of cure shelf, and a cash commitment worth splitting into two orders — ₹1,08,957.60 first, ₹68,246 after wave one. Above listed packs, and for a consolidated price, send the list on WhatsApp.
One line: 1,000 candles = 39 bags of wax, 16.6 kg of oil, 1,050 wicks and jars, 27 sticker sheets and two label rolls — ₹1,77,203.60, best bought in two orders and melted in 10 loads of 20 kg.
The thousand-unit staples are listed: Eco C2 wicks 1,000 for ₹9,440 (C1 ₹5,900), clear 200ml Salsa jars 100 for ₹2,950, Eco Soy CSI 400 5 kg for ₹1,996, and the Electric Wax Melter at ₹21,240 (10 kg) or ₹25,960 (20 kg).

The 100-candle list × 10 — and what the multiplication hides

At a thousand candles the list is not longer. The numbers on it are just big enough to change how you handle them.

This guide keeps the candle from the 100-candle budget build unchanged — 200g at 8%, Eco Soy CSI 400, Eco C2 wick, clear 200ml Salsa jar, four scents — so any change in cost per candle comes from pack sizes, not a cheaper recipe.

Stock left after the run ₹2,743.12 (14.0% of cash) ₹7,065.80 (7.7%) ₹8,772.80 (5.0%)

Read the last two rows together. The candle barely gets cheaper: ₹169.10 at 100, ₹168.43 at 1,000, and the whole 67-paise difference is fragrance bought in kilos instead of 500g bottles. Soy wax, Eco wicks, Salsa jars in 50s and 100s, wick stickers and care labels all cost the same per unit at every volume on this page. What does improve is the fit. At 100 candles, 14% of your cash sat on the shelf afterwards because packs were bigger than the run; at 1,000 it is 5%. Spares become a small percentage, and every roll and pack gets used. The 500-candle column uses a five-scent range, which is why its per-candle figure sits slightly higher — the method is in raw materials for 500 candles.

The assumption that sinks 1,000-candle budgets. "Ten times the candles, so the supplier will knock something off." Listed prices on most CSI soy waxes, Eco wicks and Salsa jars in 50s and 100s are flat per unit, so there is no automatic volume price in the cart. A quote on a consolidated order is a real conversation worth having on WhatsApp — but plan the run at the listed ceiling of ₹1,77,203.60, so that any quote improves your margin rather than rescuing your plan.

Budget build for 1,000 candles: ₹1,77,203.60

Four scents of 250 candles, 8% load, 200g fill. Every line is a listed, in-stock pack. The "left" column assumes the planning allowances go unused; if you lose the full 4% of wax, the wax left is 3.64 kg, not 11 kg.

Priced above: wax 191.36 kg needed → 39 × ₹1,996 (38 bags would be 190 kg, short). Oil per candle = 16g × the 1 kg price ÷ 1,000 — British Rose ₹3,068, Citrus Lemon ₹2,832, Roasted Coffee ₹3,738, Fresh Strawberries ₹3,540 — averaging ₹52.71; each scent needs 250 × 16g × 1.03 = 4,120g and gets 4,150g. Top-ups: British Rose 100 gm ₹342.20 + 50 gm ₹212.40; Citrus Lemon ₹300 + ₹170; Roasted Coffee ₹390 + ₹230; Fresh Strawberries ₹377.60 + ₹212.40. Wicks ₹9,440 + ₹472; jars 10 × ₹2,950 + ₹1,475; stickers ₹100 per sheet (the 100-sticker sheet is sold out); labels 2 × ₹413. Materials inside 1,000 candles: ₹1,68,430.80.

Two small decisions hide in this table. The care labels are two 1-inch rolls of 500 at ₹826; the listed alternative is one roll of 1,000 at ₹699, but those labels are 1.5 inch — a different label, not a bulk version of the same one. ₹127 is not a reason to change your base design mid-range. And the wax is 39 five-kilo bags because 5 kg is Eco Soy CSI 400's largest listed pack. If thirty-nine bags is a storage problem, the pack-count question is the same one faced at 500, only doubled — Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 does it in 20 bags of 10 kg for ₹1,01,480, and Natural Soy Pearl Wax in four 50 kg packs for ₹84,960. Both mean re-testing if your recipe was proven on Eco Soy.

Fragrance at 1,000: kilos plus top-ups

CSI's largest listed fragrance pack is 1 kg; 5 kg and 10 kg packs are not listed. So every scent in a 1,000-candle run arrives as several kilo bottles, and the only real decision is how to cover the planning allowance on top. Each scent's 250 candles need 4,000g of oil, or 4,120g with 3%. The lazy answer is a 500g bottle on top of four kilos. The better answer is the smallest bottles that cover 120g.

Covering the 3% allowance per scent · CSI live pricing, September 2026
4 × 1 kg plus a 500g bottle, or 4 × 1 kg plus 100g and 50g — cash, cover and cost of the extra grams
Scent (250 candles) 4 × 1 kg + 500 gm (4,500g) + 100 gm + 50 gm (4,150g) Saving Top-up per gram vs 500g per gram
British Rose ₹12,272 ₹13,865 ₹12,826.60 ₹1,038.40 ₹3.70 vs ₹3.19
Citrus Lemon ₹11,328 ₹12,748 ₹11,798 ₹950 ₹3.13 vs ₹2.84
Roasted Coffee ₹14,952 ₹16,842 ₹15,572 ₹1,270 ₹4.13 vs ₹3.78
Fresh Strawberries ₹14,160 ₹15,930 ₹14,750 ₹1,180 ₹3.93 vs ₹3.54
Four scents ₹52,712 ₹59,385 ₹54,946.60 ₹4,438.40 Dearer per gram, far fewer grams

The top-up bottles cost more per gram than a 500g bottle — but you buy 150g instead of 500g, so the cash is ₹4,438.40 lower and you finish with 30g spare per scent beyond the allowance rather than 380g. The trade-off is margin. If your first 100-candle run showed losses above 3%, the 500g top-up is the safer buy. If it showed less, the 100g and 50g bottles are enough — and in the staged plan further down, the wave-two top-ups can be dropped altogether once wave one has told you your real loss.

"I'll just ask for a 5 kg bottle." You can ask — larger fragrance quantities are handled on WhatsApp — but don't plan on a pack size or price that isn't listed. Plan at 4 × 1 kg plus top-ups, cost it at listed prices, and let any quote improve on that. How much oil a thousand candles takes at other sizes and loads, and how to split it across a wider range, is covered in how much fragrance oil do I need for 1,000 candles.

Premium build for 1,000 candles: ₹3,70,344.52

The premium candle from the 100-candle guide, ten times over: CSI 468 at a 10% load (180g wax, 20g oil), four premium oils of 250 candles each, a Performance Wooden Wick and a matte glass jar. At 10% each scent needs 5,150g with allowance — five kilos plus a 100g and a 50g bottle covers it exactly.

Those are the listed ceilings, and at ₹74,340 and ₹43,660 they are the lines where a consolidated WhatsApp quote matters most. We don't state what that quote would be.

What 1,000 candles asks of your equipment

The raw materials for a thousand candles fit on an invoice. The run itself has to fit in a melter, on a bench and on a shelf.

A 100-candle run can be poured from a mini melter and a jug over a few evenings. A thousand cannot: 184 kg of wax has to be melted, dosed, poured and cured somewhere. Equipment isn't raw material, and CSI lists no automated filling or wicking machines, but equipment decides how many days the run takes.

What each tool's page states, and what it means for 184 kg of wax and 1,000 jars
Tool Price What the page states At 1,000 × 200g candles
Electric Wax Melter (Imported), 20 kg ₹25,960 Around 20 kg for the bigger melter; display 60–100°C 10 loads for 184 kg; ≈108 candles' wax per full load

Wax Pouring Funnel (4 nozzles) ₹1,888 Food-grade stainless steel; capacity not stated Four nozzles per pass instead of one jug
Steel Pouring Pitcher, large ₹708 600 ml capacity Fragrance dosing and small top-up pours

Wick Setting Tool · Wick Centering Device (5) ₹399 · ₹118 "Compatible with most jar sizes" · pack of 5 1,000 wicks stuck and centred before any wax is melted
Cure shelving (not a CSI product) Matte jars state 7 cm width ≈4.9 m² of shelf surface for 1,000 jars side by side, held 14–21 days

The melter row shapes the schedule. At ≈108 candles of wax per full 20 kg load, a thousand candles is ten fills, each taking about 1.74 kg of oil at 8% (20 kg ÷ 0.92 × 0.08). One CSI customer who uses the imported melter wrote that "10 kgs of wax melts in mere 20-30 minutes" — a customer's experience, not a specification. Ten loads is ten pouring sessions before any cure time: schedule them, don't improvise them. The full load-by-load wax maths is in how much wax do I need to make 1,000 candles.

Put equipment in the per-candle maths, once
The 20 kg melter at ₹25,960 is ₹25.96 per candle if this one run has to pay for it, and a fraction of that once it serves the next few thousand candles. Decide how many runs it should pay for, divide, and add that to the ₹168.43 when you price. Treat the figure as your own accounting choice, not a cost CSI can state for you. The wider equipment picture is in equipment needed to manufacture candles commercially.
A mini melter is not a slow production melter. It is a different tool. The 1-litre Mini Electric Wax/Soap Melter is an excellent way to run test pours and keep small top-up batches hot, and CSI buyers review it warmly. But its capacity is one litre, against the 9.5 litres stated on the Electric Wax Melter page. Planning 184 kg of wax around it means at least 184 refills even if every litre held a full kilo — and a temperature swing every time. Buy the melter that matches the run, or cut the run to match the melter.

Two orders instead of one

A single 1,000-candle order is the simplest to place and the hardest to live with: ₹1,77,203.60 out on day one, 39 bags and 1,050 jars to store, and four scents committed before any customer has smelled them. Staging splits the same list by scent pair, so each order is a complete set of candles. The total doesn't change; the timing and the risk do.

1
Order 1: everything that doesn't depend on scent, plus wave oneAll 1,050 jars (₹30,975), 1,050 wicks (₹9,912), 27 sticker sheets (₹2,700) and both label rolls (₹826) — ₹44,413 — plus 20 × 5 kg of wax (₹39,920) and British Rose and Citrus Lemon with their top-ups (₹24,624.60). Order 1: ₹1,08,957.60.
2
Check the structural items on arrivalCount the jars and look for chips while there is still time to replace them; the 50 spare jars are a planning allowance, not a known breakage rate. Wick and sticker the jars for wave one only, so the rest stay clean.
3
Pour wave one and measure what you lost500 candles need 95.68 kg of wax with allowance; 20 bags give 100 kg. Weigh what is left afterwards. If losses stayed within 4%, you carry at least 4.32 kg into wave two.
4
Decide wave two's scents with evidenceBy now the first candles are curing and possibly pre-sold. If a wave-one scent is clearly outselling the others, wave two can repeat it instead of Fresh Strawberries — same wax, jar and wick, so nothing needs re-testing.
5
Order 2: wax and oil for wave two19 × 5 kg (₹37,924), using the carried-over wax to cover the gap, and Roasted Coffee and Fresh Strawberries with top-ups (₹30,322) — or skip the top-ups if wave one's losses came in low. Order 2: ₹68,246. Place it at least your own measured delivery time before wave one finishes; we don't publish delivery times, so time the first order and use that.

The CSI principle
Buy the containers for the whole run. Buy the scent for the next wave.
Jars, wicks, stickers and labels are identical for every candle, flat-priced and bulky — get them in, count them and stop worrying. Wax and fragrance are where the run can still learn something, so buy them against the candles you are about to pour, not the ones you hope to sell a month from now.
Send your 1,000-candle list — wax and bag count, scents and kilos, jar and count, wick type, whether you'll stage it, pincode and GST number — and CSI will reply with a consolidated quote, GST invoicing and MSDS/IFRA documentation. Listed prices are the ceiling.

Four products the 1,000-candle list leans on

Different from the 100- and 500-candle picks on purpose: these are the products whose listed packs, or whose alternatives, matter most once a run reaches four figures.

Wick · 1,000-pack listed
Eco Candle Wicks · 1,000 packs
Both Eco wick sizes come in a 1,000-pack at the same per-wick price as their smaller packs: Thin (C1) ₹5,900, Thick (C2) ₹9,440. The choice between them across a thousand candles is ₹3,540, which matters far less than getting the one that reaches a full melt pool in your jar. Coloured Salsa jar pages state they pair well with C2; the clear Salsa page names no wick.

It is stated for single-pour container candles with a fragrance load of up to 10%, and its product text mentions a 25 kg format that isn't a listed variant — confirm that on WhatsApp if it suits you. It costs ₹19.91 more wax per candle than Eco Soy CSI 400, and switching means re-testing the wick. One buyer calls it "easy to work with, especially if you are a beginner".

Roasted Coffee Fragrance Oil
The dearest of the four budget scents per gram, and the clearest case for small top-ups: its 100 gm and 50 gm bottles together cost ₹620 against ₹1,890 for 500 gm. The table below shows the price per 100g at every size, so you can see the premium you pay for small bottles — and why it is still the cheaper way to cover 120g. One buyer found the coffee fragrance "quite strong"; another wrote "The fragrance was really amazing".

Black Matte Glass Jar
The premium build's jar, and the line where 1,000 candles most clearly outgrows the listing: ₹70.80 a jar in packs of 5 or 10 only, so 1,050 jars is 105 packs and ₹74,340. The page states a "fill weight of 200 ml" — a volume — and 8 cm height by 7 cm width, which is where the cure-shelf estimate comes from. Weigh a filled jar before you size the wax. One buyer's review: "Very good".

A thousand candles for a festival has a calendar problem on top of the materials problem: with Diwali on 8 November 2026 and soy containers commonly cured 14–21 days, two waves of 500 plus cure leave very little slack from mid-September. That specific timeline is worked backwards in manufacturing 1,000 candles for Diwali. If 1,000 is a monthly figure rather than a one-off, see growing from 100 to 1,000 candles a month.

At a thousand candles the cheapest material is still wax. The most expensive mistake is still buying all of it before the first wave tells you anything.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. On a 1,000-candle order the supplier's interest is an obvious one: sell the whole list on day one. We have shown you how to split it, how to top up oil in 150g instead of 500g, and that the candle itself costs only 67 paise less at 1,000 than at 100 — because a maker who runs a thousand candles without a cash crunch or a stuck scent is the maker who orders the next thousand.

Every price, pack size and specification comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Equipment details are quoted only as the product pages state them; where a page states no capacity, we say so. Loads are the stated ceilings for each wax. Allowances, spare counts, the scent split, the staging plan and the cure-shelf area are our planning choices and calculations, not measured facts, and we do not publish delivery times or quoted prices.

Frequently asked questions

How much wax do I need to make 1,000 candles?
For 1,000 × 200g candles at 8%, 184 kg (184g each); at 10%, 180 kg. Add a 4% planning allowance and you need 191.36 kg or 187.2 kg. In listed packs that is 39 × 5 kg of Eco Soy CSI 400, 20 × 10 kg of a wax like CSI 464, or 19 × 10 kg of CSI 468 at 10%. On a 20 kg melter, 184 kg is 10 loads. More sizes and loads: how much wax for 1,000 candles.
How much fragrance oil do I need for 1,000 candles?
16 kg at 8% or 20 kg at 10% for 1,000 × 200g candles, before allowance. CSI's largest listed fragrance pack is 1 kg, so four scents of 250 at 8% is 4 × 1 kg per scent plus a 100g and a 50g top-up for the 3% allowance — ₹54,946.60 for the budget scents, ₹4,438.40 less than topping up with 500g bottles. Larger fragrance quantities are quoted on WhatsApp.
What is the cost of raw materials for 1,000 candles in India?
At CSI's September 2026 listed prices, a budget build is ₹1,77,203.60 for 1,000 × 200g candles with spares — Eco Soy CSI 400, four oils, Eco C2 wicks, clear 200ml Salsa jars, wick stickers and care labels — or ₹168.43 of materials per candle. A premium build with CSI 468 at 10%, premium oils, wooden wicks and matte jars is ₹3,70,344.52, or ₹353.98 per candle. Equipment, packaging and shipping are extra.
What equipment do I need to make 1,000 candles?
A production melter — CSI's Electric Wax Melter is ₹21,240 for 10 kg or ₹25,960 for 20 kg, which is 19 or 10 loads for 184 kg of wax — plus a pouring funnel or pitchers, a scale for weighing oil, a thermometer, wick-setting tools and roughly 4.9 m² of cure shelf for 1,000 jars 7 cm wide. A 1-litre mini melter is for test pours at this scale. CSI does not list automated filling or wicking machines.
Should I buy raw materials for 1,000 candles in one order?
You can, but two orders usually work better. Order 1: all jars, wicks, stickers and labels plus wax and oil for the first 500 candles — ₹1,08,957.60 on the budget build. Order 2, after wave one is poured and losses are measured: wax and oil for the second 500 — ₹68,246. Same total, less cash on day one, and wave two's scents can follow what sold. Keep the same wax, wick and jar across both orders.
Can I get a bulk price on raw materials for 1,000 candles?
Ask — 1,000 candles is a sensible order to quote. Send the full list on WhatsApp with quantities, pincode, GST number and whether it will repeat. But plan at listed prices: most CSI soy waxes, Eco wicks and Salsa jars in 50s and 100s are flat per unit, so the cart itself doesn't discount for volume, and we don't publish or promise what a quote will be. Listed prices are the ceiling.
