Candle businesses buy jars from specialist candle suppliers, glass makers, packaging wholesalers, marketplaces and importers — and each suits a different stage. The safest route at any stage is to sample the exact listing you will scale: at CSI, five 200 ml Salsa jars cost ₹200.60 and the same jar is listed in 100s.
₹200.60
five 200ml Salsa Glass Jars with lug cap — the same listing sells at ₹1,475 for 50 and ₹2,950 for 100 (₹29.50 a jar) · sample the jar you will scale · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Where do candle businesses buy jars in bulk? From five kinds of source: specialist candle-supply stores, glass manufacturers, packaging and glassware wholesalers, online marketplaces and importers or sourcing agents. A common path is to start with a specialist supplier and go direct to a glass maker only when volume and a custom design justify it.

What should I compare between sources? Not the headline price. Compare the landed cost per usable jar: pack price plus delivery plus any lid bought separately, divided by the jars you can actually pour into.

How do I buy jars in bulk safely? Sample, pilot, then scale on the same listing. At CSI the 200 ml Salsa jar runs 5 (₹200.60) → 50 (₹1,475) → 100 (₹2,950); the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid runs 10 (₹944) → 20 (₹1,888).

Can I get jars, wax and wicks from one supplier? Yes at CSI — a 60-candle first order of jars, wax, oil, wicks and stickers lists at ₹14,360, on one order and one GST invoice via WhatsApp.
The short answer
Match the channel to the stage: specialist suppliers for sampling to a few hundred jars a month; glass makers and importers for custom shapes at high volume; marketplaces for one-off trials only.
Compare landed cost per usable jar: delivery, missing lids and rejects can move a cheap jar's real cost past a dearer one's.
Scale on the listing you tested: a jar that passed your burn test is only useful if you can reorder that exact jar.
Sample → pilot → scale on one listing · 200ml Salsa Glass Jar · listed price per jar SAMPLE 5 jars · ₹200.60 ₹40.12 a jar PILOT 50 jars · ₹1,475 ₹29.50 a jar SCALE 100 jars · ₹2,950 ₹29.50 a jar RECURRING Monthly volume Quote on WhatsApp Burn test between sample and pilot · delivery-day inspection between pilot and scale The sample costs ₹53.10 more than five jars at the 50-pack price — the cheapest insurance in candle sourcing
The point of the ladder is continuity: every step buys the same listing, so the jar that passed your test is the jar you scale. Above the largest listed pack, listed per-jar prices are the ceiling and recurring volume is quoted.
Straight answer
Where should a candle business buy candle jars in bulk in India?
Buy where you can sample the exact jar, see its listed price at volume, and reorder it by name. For a typical candle business between first launch and a few hundred jars a month, that is a specialist candle-supply store: jars chosen for candles, packs from five upwards, candle-relevant specifications on some pages, and wax and wicks in the same order. Glass manufacturers and importers make sense later, when volume and a custom shape justify their minimums and lead times; packaging wholesalers and marketplaces suit one-off trials more than repeat production. Compare every source on landed cost per usable jar — pack price plus delivery plus any separate lid, divided by jars you can pour into — not on headline price. At CSI, the 200 ml Salsa Glass Jar runs from ₹200.60 for 5 to ₹2,950 for 100, the Mini Glass Jars from ₹129.80 for 5 to ₹2,124 for 100, and the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid lists at ₹94.40 a jar with lid included and a stated 85°C hot-pour limit. Sample, burn-test, pilot one production pack, inspect, then send your exact listing and monthly quantity to WhatsApp for recurring pricing and GST invoicing.
One line: buy jars from a source that lets you test five of the exact jar you will order a hundred of — then compare sources on landed cost per usable jar.
Start the sourcing test with jars listed from small packs to 100s: 200 ml Salsa jars at ₹200.60 for 5, Mini Glass Jars at ₹129.80 for 5, and Clear Glass Jars with Golden Lid at ₹944 for 10.

Five places candle businesses buy jars in bulk

There is no single best place to buy jars. There is a best place for the stage your business is at — and it changes.

Indian candle businesses source jars through five broad channels. Each exists because it solves a real problem for someone, and each creates a different one. The table sets out what each is generally good for and what to check before relying on it. It describes channels, not named companies; any individual supplier in any channel can be better or worse than the pattern.

Jar sourcing channels · a buyer's comparison
Where each channel fits, and what to check before you depend on it
Channel Usually best for Usual strengths Check before relying on it
Specialist candle-supply stores Sampling through to steady monthly production Jars picked for candles; small packs; wax, wicks and packaging in the same order; some pages state fill, dimensions or hot-pour limits Largest listed pack; whether the price steps down at volume; stock depth on your chosen colour; recurring-order route
Glass manufacturers (direct) High, predictable volume; custom shape, colour or embossing Design control; potential for the lowest unit price at scale Minimum run size; lead time; who arranges freight and packing; whether they will state a hot-pour limit for candle use
Packaging and glassware wholesalers Mid volumes of standard jars; mixed packaging orders Broad catalogues of food, cosmetic and décor glass Whether the jar is meant for hot wax at all; capacity units; lid supply; batch-to-batch consistency
Online marketplaces One-off trials and small, urgent top-ups Speed, choice, small quantities Seller repeatability; listing accuracy; whether the same jar will exist next month
Importers and sourcing agents Distinctive designs not made locally Access to international styles Minimums, customs and landed cost, longer planning horizons, spares for breakage

For many brands the practical sequence is specialist supplier first, then — only if a signature shape and a large, steady volume justify it — a glass maker. The step to direct manufacturing is a business decision about cash tied up in minimum runs and storage, not just a price comparison. The same logic applies to other raw materials; the wider picture is in where professional candle brands buy their raw materials.

The mistake: buying food-packaging jars and assuming they take hot wax. Jars made for pickles, jams or cosmetics are not necessarily designed for molten wax, and their listings rarely say either way. Some candle-specific pages do state a figure — CSI's Apothecary Dome Lid jar and the 150 g golden-lid jars say "Safe for hot-pour up to 85°C" — and many do not. Wherever no figure is stated, from any channel, pour-test at your real temperature before buying the carton. A cheap jar that cracks costs you the jar, the wax, the oil and the wick.

Landed cost per usable jar: the number to compare

Two jars at ₹30 and ₹35 are not a ₹5 decision until you know what reaches your bench intact, with a lid, and what it cost to get there.

Headline prices compare badly across channels because each channel bundles different things. One source includes lids, another sells them separately; one ships free above a threshold, another charges per carton; one packs glass in dividers, another in a loose box. The fair comparison is one formula, applied to every source with your own numbers:

The formula
Landed cost per usable jar = (pack price + delivery charge + lids bought separately) ÷ (jars received − jars rejected). Use your actual delivery charge from the checkout or invoice, and your actual reject count from delivery-day inspection. CSI does not list lids as separate products, so on jars whose page mentions no lid — such as the matte, frosted and glossy 200 ml range — confirm the lid situation before comparing.

Here is what the reject term alone does, using CSI listed prices with delivery left out so the effect is visible. The reject counts are illustrative what-ifs, not CSI breakage rates — none is published, and none is implied.

Landed cost per usable jar · illustrative rejects · delivery excluded
How one or two unusable jars change the real price — and why pack size matters
Listing and pack Pack price 0 rejects If 1 reject If 2 rejects If 5 rejects
200 ml Salsa, clear · 100 ₹2,950 ₹29.50 ₹29.80 ₹30.10 ₹31.05
Clear 150 g golden lid · 20 ₹1,888 ₹94.40 ₹99.37 ₹104.89 ₹125.87
Matte 200 ml · 10 ₹708 ₹70.80 ₹78.67 ₹88.50 ₹141.60
Worked out above: pack price ÷ (jars in pack − rejects). Salsa ₹2,950 ÷ 99 = ₹29.80, ÷ 98 = ₹30.10, ÷ 95 = ₹31.05 · Clear 150 g ₹1,888 ÷ 19 = ₹99.37, ÷ 18 = ₹104.89, ÷ 15 = ₹125.87 · Matte ₹708 ÷ 9 = ₹78.67, ÷ 8 = ₹88.50, ÷ 5 = ₹141.60. Add your own delivery charge to the pack price for the full landed figure.

The lesson is not that any of these jars breaks — it is that the same loss costs far more per jar in a small pack. One unusable jar in a 100-pack adds 30 paise to every jar; in a 10-pack it adds ₹7.87. That is why careful packing and a clear replacement process matter more to a bulk buyer than a rupee off the headline price, and why the question "how do I report a transit break?" belongs in every sourcing conversation. Customers have noticed CSI's packing — Renu wrote that "Packaging was secure and delivery was on time" — but your own inspection log is the number to plan on. The delivery-day routine is in the bulk glass jar supplier guide.

Ten questions to ask any jar source

These are the commercial questions — the ones about how buying works — that sit alongside the physical specification. Ask all ten of every shortlisted source, in writing, before the first bulk order. The last column is the answer that should make you pause.

Sourcing questions · commercial terms
What to ask, why it matters, and the answer that is a red flag
# Question Why it matters Red-flag answer
1 Can I buy a small pack of the exact jar first? Your burn test must be on the jar you will scale "Samples are a different batch" or no small pack at all
2 Are prices visible at each pack size? You can plan before you ask for a quote Every price "on request", even for small packs
3 Is the capacity grams of wax or ml, and what are the dimensions? Recipe and wick maths depend on it "Standard size" with no numbers
4 Is a hot-pour limit stated, or will you confirm one? Your pour temperature has to sit under it "All our glass is strong" with no figure and no offer to test
5 Is the lid included, and is it the same colour as the photo? A missing lid is a second SKU and a second supplier Lids discovered as an extra at checkout
6 Will a reorder match the first batch in colour and size? Gift sets and shelves need matching jars No way to reference the exact listing or batch
7 How are jars packed, and how do I report a break? Loss per usable jar, especially in small packs No process, or "breakage is your risk"
8 Do you issue GST invoices? Input credit and clean books Cash-only or invoice "later"
9 What is the route for recurring monthly volume? Pricing and supply for production, not one-off orders No named contact or channel for repeat orders
10 Can wax, wicks and packaging come on the same order? One delivery, one invoice, one conversation when something goes wrong Only jars — which is fine, but price in a second supplier

How CSI answers, stated plainly: small packs exist on every in-stock glass listing (from a single jar or packs of 5–10); prices are listed at each pack; capacity and dimensions are stated on many pages and missing on some, which this series flags listing by listing; an 85°C hot-pour limit is stated on six glass listings; lids are stated on some jars and not mentioned on others; GST invoicing and recurring volume are handled on WhatsApp; wax, wicks, dyes and packaging sit in the same store. Questions 6 and 7 — batch matching and the break process — are not answered on product pages, so ask them on WhatsApp before a volume order.

Jars you can sample and scale on one listing

A sample only protects you if the same listing is sold at the quantity you will buy. These CSI jars run from a small pack to a production pack on one product page, so the jar you test is the jar you reorder.

Clear volume jar · 5 to 100 · price steps down
200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap (Golden Lid)
The clear candle jar where scaling changes the listed price the most: ₹40.12 a jar in 5s, ₹29.50 in 50s and 100s. The page states a 200 ml capacity, a wide mouth and heat-resistant glass that "withstands the heat of hot wax without cracking or warping", with the lug cap named in the title. It gives no temperature figure or dimensions, so the five-jar sample is where you pour-test at your real temperature and weigh the grams a 200 ml jar actually holds.

200ml Salsa Red Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap (Golden Lid)
The same Salsa shape in colour — red here, with amber, green, light pink and purple on sister listings — and the same 5 → 50 → 100 ladder. The price is flat at ₹62 a jar, so sampling costs nothing extra per jar; buy the pack that matches your batch. The coloured pages add one line the clear page does not: "Pairs well with C2 Eco Wicks." Weigh one filled jar, because capacity is stated in ml.

Lidded core jar · 10 to 20 · stated 85°C
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram)
A shorter ladder, but the fullest specification: 150 g fill, 7 cm rim, 8 cm tall with lid, hot-pour safe up to 85°C, golden metal lid included. The price is flat at ₹94.40, so a pack of 10 is both the sample and the unit of production; larger quantities are multiples of 20. Customer Soumili Gope wrote that "The jars were of good quality", and its black version drew "Good product" from Biny Abraham.

The CSI principle
Never scale a jar you tested somewhere else.
A burn test qualifies one jar from one source. Switch the source and you have a new jar, whatever the photograph says — new glass, new dimensions, new lid, new batch. Sample, pilot and scale on the same listing, or re-test.

Sample, pilot, scale: the sourcing path

It is mid-September 2026 and Diwali is on 8 November. A jar decision made this week can still reach a cured, shipped candle — one made in late October cannot.

A good sourcing decision takes three orders, not one, and each order answers a question the previous one could not. Run the same path on every shortlisted source, whatever the channel.

1
Shortlist two or three jars from no more than two sourcesPick by the physical checks — stated capacity, dimensions, heat line, lid — and by whether the listing reaches your volume. More than three candidates and the test becomes a project.
2
Buy the smallest pack of each and record the landed costAt CSI, five Salsa jars (₹200.60), ten 150 g golden-lid jars (₹944) and a five-pack of matte jars (₹354) cover three families for ₹1,498.60 before delivery. Write down delivery, lids and any breakage from the first box.
3
Pour, cure and burn-testWeigh one filled jar of each, pour at your real temperature (under any stated limit), cure 14–21 days, and burn with your chosen wick. Keep the jar that reaches a clean full pool, holds the grams your price needs and looks right lidded.
4
Pilot one production pack of the winnerOrder one real production pack — 50 Salsa jars (₹1,475) or twenty 150 g jars (₹1,888) — and run a full batch. Inspect on arrival, log rejects, and compare the batch with the sample jars.
5
Scale on the same listing and ask for recurring termsOrder at the largest listed pack you can use, then send the exact listing title, colour, monthly quantity, pincode and GST number on WhatsApp. Ask the two questions pages do not answer: batch matching on reorders, and the transit-break process.

On the calendar, a cure of 14–21 days means candles for Diwali gifting should be poured by roughly mid-October. Working back, that leaves the second half of September for samples and burn tests, and the start of October for the pilot pack. Nobody can promise you a delivery date on this page, so build in slack from your own experience of each source rather than assuming it.

One order for jars, wax and wicks

Jars are the bulkiest part of a candle order, but they are rarely the only part. Buying them from a source that also sells the wax, the oil, the wicks and the stickers removes a second delivery and a second invoice, and means one conversation when a batch goes wrong. Here is a 60-candle first production order from CSI built around the 150 g golden-lid jar at an 8% load with a 5% allowance on wax and oil.

60-candle first order · CSI live pricing, September 2026

Each candle consumes ₹94.40 of jar, ₹5.90 of wick, ₹2.50 of sticker, 138 g of CSI 464 (₹70.02) and 12 g of British Rose (₹36.82) — ₹209.64. The gap to ₹239.33 as bought is about 1.3 kg of wax and 244 g of oil left for the next batch, not waste. Test the wick first: the page states no wick for this jar, so compare C1 with C2 before ordering sixty. Whether one supplier suits your whole business is weighed up in can I buy all my candle making materials from one supplier, and a 1,000-candle version of the question in where to buy raw materials for 1,000 candles.

Red flags before a bulk jar order

Most jar-sourcing disappointments were visible before the order was placed. These are the patterns to stop on, whichever channel you are buying from.

The photograph and the title disagree. A listing whose title says amber and whose description says clear, or whose title says a pack of six and whose description says five, is not necessarily a bad jar — CSI has a few such listings and this series names them — but it is a signal to confirm in writing before ordering volume. Go by the title, the stated capacity and a sample in your hand, never by the photo alone.
No small pack, no stated numbers, and a big minimum. A source that will not sell you a test quantity, states no capacity or dimensions, and asks for a large first order is asking you to take the qualification risk on their behalf. That can still be worth it for a custom design, but price the risk: a failed first run of glass you cannot use is the most expensive sample there is.
A price that only exists "on request". Recurring volume pricing is normally quoted, and CSI quotes it on WhatsApp too. But when even small packs have no visible price, you cannot plan, compare or check the quote against anything. A visible listed price is the ceiling that makes a quote meaningful.
A jar you cannot reorder is not a supplier. It is a souvenir.

Stock is the last flag. At the time of writing, fourteen of CSI's glass listings are fully sold out, among them several amber, bamboo-lid and borosilicate styles. Every source has gaps; the difference is whether you can see them before you design packaging. Pick a jar with stock and a sister colour or size in the same family as a fallback, and ask about a sold-out style's return rather than planning around it. The glass candle jar price guide lists what is available now by price.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies candle raw materials and containers, not finished candles, and it does not manufacture glass. It is one of the channels this guide compares, so the channel table describes types of source rather than naming anyone, says plainly when going direct to a glass maker makes sense, and points out the questions CSI's own product pages do not answer.

Every CSI price, pack size, capacity and heat line quoted here is taken from live stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and specification always take precedence. Reject counts in the landed-cost table are illustrative arithmetic, not breakage data.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy candle jars in bulk in India?
From specialist candle-supply stores, glass manufacturers, packaging and glassware wholesalers, online marketplaces, and importers or sourcing agents. Specialist suppliers suit most businesses from sampling to steady monthly production because they sell candle-relevant jars in small and mid-size packs alongside wax and wicks. At CSI, jars are listed from single jars and five-packs up to 100-packs on the 200 ml Salsa and Mini Glass Jars, with recurring volumes quoted on WhatsApp.
Is it cheaper to buy candle jars directly from a glass factory?
It can be at high volume, but compare landed cost per usable jar, not the unit price alone. Direct purchases often bring minimum runs, longer lead times, freight you arrange, storage for the run and your own breakage risk. For a growing brand still changing its range, those costs usually outweigh the saving. Move direct when one signature jar sells steadily in large volumes, and test factory samples as carefully as any other jar.
How many candle jars should I buy for my first bulk order?
Buy one real production pack of the jar that passed your burn test — enough for one batch — rather than a season's supply. At CSI that is 50 Salsa jars for ₹1,475 or twenty 150 g golden-lid jars for ₹1,888. Inspect the delivery, pour the batch, and only then order at the largest listed pack. A 60-candle first order with wax, oil, wicks and stickers lists at ₹14,360.
Do candle jar suppliers give samples?
Practices vary by source, so ask. At CSI, the practical sample is the smallest listed pack of the exact listing: five 200 ml Salsa jars for ₹200.60, five Mini Glass Jars for ₹129.80, or ten 150 g golden-lid jars for ₹944. Because those are the same listings sold in 50s, 100s or 20s, the jar you test is the jar you scale. Record delivery charge and condition as part of the sample.
What is landed cost per usable jar?
It is (pack price + delivery charge + lids bought separately) ÷ (jars received − jars rejected) — the real price of a jar you can pour into. It lets you compare sources that bundle lids and delivery differently. It also shows why losses hurt small packs most: one unusable jar lifts a 100-pack of ₹29.50 Salsa jars to ₹29.80 each, but a 10-pack of ₹70.80 matte jars to ₹78.67 each.
Can I buy candle jars, wax and wicks from the same supplier?
Yes. CSI lists jars, tins and ceramic containers alongside soy and coconut-soy waxes, fragrance oils, wicks, stickers and packaging. A 60-candle first order — sixty 150 g golden-lid jars, 10 kg of CSI 464, 1 kg of British Rose, 60 Eco wicks and wick stickers — lists at ₹14,360, or ₹209.64 of materials per candle. Send the combined list on WhatsApp for bulk pricing and a single GST invoice.
