Best Candle Fragrances for Raksha Bandhan Gifts

Raksha Bandhan 2026 falls on Friday 28 August — about eleven days away. This guide is deliberately split: what is genuinely still possible from ready stock this year, and the fragrance and production calendar that makes 2027 a season you actually plan for.
₹2,375
six-scent Rakhi shortlist at 100g each · ≈75 candles of 100g at an 8% load · CSI live pricing, August 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What are the best candle fragrances for Raksha Bandhan gifts? Scents that read as thoughtful, not intimate. Fresh and clean: Citrus Lemon (₹300/100g), Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹354), Cucumber Green Tea (₹353). Soft floral: British Rose (₹342), Japanese Cherry Blossom (₹500). Gourmand: Roasted Coffee (₹390), Chocolate Fudge (₹396). Light woody: Mahogany Shea (₹489). Heavy sensual ouds are the wrong brief for a sibling gift.

Is there still time for 2026? Not for new pours. Soy needs a 14 to 21 day cure and Rakhi is on Friday 28 August. What is left is ready stock, small formats, fast assembly and honest courier cut-offs.

What size should a Rakhi candle be? Small. A 100g candle costs about ₹105 in materials against about ₹209 for a 200g — and it ships in a smaller box. Tealight trios and wax melt clamshells sit below that again.

When should 2027 start? Sixteen weeks out, which for an August festival means around late April. Fragrance tested by eleven weeks, bulk ordered by ten, production finished by five, selling from three.
The short answer
The pick: Citrus Lemon, Eucalyptus Spearmint, British Rose, Japanese Cherry Blossom, Roasted Coffee and Mahogany Shea — six gift-safe scents, 100g each, ₹2,375 total.
The why: Rakhi gifting is sibling gifting on a modest budget, usually shipped, usually bought in the final week. That rules out heavy sensual ouds and most designer-inspired florals, and it rules in small formats.
The next step: For 2026, sell cured stock in 100g jars, tealight trios and wax melts, and publish your dispatch cut-off. For 2027, order fragrance sixteen weeks out.
Eleven days to Raksha Bandhan — what each window still allows Days 11–9 — Audit cured stock. Build two SKUs. No new pours. Days 9–7 — Assemble tealight trios and 100g gift boxes Days 7–4 — Pack for transit, dispatch, courier cut-off Days 3–1 — Local delivery and pickup only Day 0 onward — Order 2027 fragrance
Every bar narrows for the same reason: cure time cannot be compressed. A soy candle poured today will be judged by a customer before it is ready, which is why the eleven-day play is assembly and packaging rather than production — and why the most valuable decision available this week is a 2027 fragrance order.
Straight answer
What are the best candle fragrances for Raksha Bandhan gifts?
Scents that read as thoughtful rather than intimate, because the buyer is a sibling and the recipient is a sibling. That gives four working groups. Fresh and cleanCitrus Lemon (₹300/100g), Eucalyptus Spearmint (₹354), Cucumber Green Tea (₹353), Lemongrass and Lime (₹590) and Blue Ocean (₹495). Soft floralBritish Rose (₹342), Jasmine (₹430), Japanese Cherry Blossom (₹500) and Lavender (₹540). Gourmand crowd-pleasersVanilla Bean (₹790), Chocolate Fudge (₹396), Roasted Coffee (₹390) and Coffee Blast (₹1,280). Light woodySage and Cedarwood (₹696) and Mahogany Shea (₹489). What is missing matters as much: heavy sensual ouds, tobacco and most designer-inspired florals carry a romantic register that is simply the wrong brief here. And the honest timing point — Rakhi 2026 is Friday 28 August, roughly eleven days out, so this year is a ready-stock exercise in small formats, and the real strategic work is the 2027 calendar at the bottom of this page.
One line: fresh, soft floral, gourmand and light woody in small formats — six oils at 100g cost ₹2,375 — but for 2026 sell what is already cured, and order for 2027 sixteen weeks out.
Testing for next year rather than pouring for this one? Every CSI oil ships in 15g from ₹68 and 50g trial sizes, so you can pour one test candle per scent before committing to 100g.

Eleven days out: what is honestly possible, and what is not

Most Raksha Bandhan candle content published in the third week of August is written as though the reader has six weeks. They do not. They have eleven days, and pretending otherwise is how a maker ends up selling an uncured candle.

Raksha Bandhan 2026 falls on Friday 28 August 2026. The Purnima tithi runs until 9:48 am, and because the 27th falls in Bhadra Kaal, the 28th is the observed date. From mid-August that is about eleven days. It is worth stating plainly what that number does to a candle production plan, because the arithmetic is not negotiable.

A soy container candle needs 14 to 21 days of cure before its fragrance reads at full strength. That is not a marketing convention, it is the time the oil takes to bind properly into the wax matrix. A candle poured today and shipped on day nine will be lit by its recipient somewhere around day twelve, which is inside the cure window. It will smell weaker than the same candle would in September, and the person judging it will be a first-time recipient forming their only impression of your brand. The single worst outcome available this week is a rushed pour.

So the 2026 play is not production. It is three things: sell the stock that is already cured, add small formats you can assemble in a day, and pack well enough to survive a courier. Everything else on this page that involves ordering, testing and pouring belongs to the 2027 calendar, and we have written it that way on purpose.

The eleven-day rule
If it was not poured by roughly 14 August, it is not part of your Raksha Bandhan 2026 range. Sell it in September as an autumn candle instead — the stock is not wasted, it is simply on a different calendar.
1
Audit what is already curedCount every candle poured 14 or more days ago, sorted by scent and size. That list is your entire 2026 Rakhi range. Anything else is a promise you cannot keep.
2
Filter to gift-safe scentsPull the fresh, soft floral, gourmand and light woody stock forward. Park the heavy oud, tobacco and leather stock — it is excellent inventory, but it is Diwali and wedding inventory, not sibling-gift inventory.
3
Build two SKUs, not tenOne lower price point built from tealights or wax melts, one higher price point built around a single 100g candle in a gift box. Final-week buyers convert on clarity, not choice.
4
Assemble, do not manufactureWax melts and tealights are the only formats that can be genuinely produced inside this window, because a melt is not burned in a wick-and-melt-pool system and tolerates a shorter rest before it performs acceptably.
5
Publish your dispatch cut-offPut the last shipping date on the product page and in your bio. After it passes, switch the listing to local pickup and same-city delivery. A Rakhi gift that arrives on the 29th is a refund.

The Rakhi shortlist: six fragrances, with prices

The Raksha Bandhan gifting brief is unusually specific and it is worth naming before the shortlist. The buyer is a sibling. The budget is usually modest, frequently in the ₹400 to ₹900 band rather than the ₹1,500-plus band a Diwali corporate hamper occupies. The gift is very often shipped, sometimes across states, and it is very often bought in the final seven days. And it goes to a sibling of either gender.

That combination points hard at small formats, robust packaging and scents with no romantic register. Six oils cover it. All prices are CSI live pricing as of August 2026, and the cost-per-candle column assumes a 100g finished candle at an 8% fragrance load — 8g of oil and 92g of wax — priced at the 1kg per-gram rate.

1
Fresh & clean · the safe default
Citrus Lemon Fragrance Oil
The cheapest oil in this guide and the one that goes wrong least often as a gift. Lemon carries no gender signal and no romantic signal, which is exactly what a Rakhi candle needs, and it works in a kitchen, a bathroom, a study or a hostel room without anybody having to like scented candles first. At ₹2.83 per gram in 1kg it also keeps a ₹499 tealight trio genuinely profitable.

Fresh & clean · desk and car
Eucalyptus Spearmint Fragrance Oil
The single most useful scent in this guide for a gift going to a brother, because it does something a candle rarely does: it reads as functional rather than decorative. Eucalyptus and mint suit a desk, a study, a gym bag corner or a car hanging freshener, and they are the easiest sell to a recipient who has never wanted a candle. It also has the lowest 15g entry price on this list at ₹68, which makes it cheap to test.

Soft floral · bedside
British Rose Fragrance Oil
Rose is the obvious floral for a Rakhi gift and this is the version that stays on the right side of the line. British Rose reads clean, powdery and English-garden rather than heavy or perfumed, which keeps it firmly in the affectionate-not-romantic register a sibling gift needs. At ₹342 per 100g it is also the cheapest floral in this shortlist by a clear margin, which matters when the whole gift has to land under ₹700.

Soft floral · the gift-legible one
Japanese Cherry Blossom Fragrance Oil
The most immediately legible gift scent on this list. A buyer choosing quickly in the last week does not want to interpret a scent name, and cherry blossom communicates everything the product is before they read a description. It is soft, spring-weighted and universally liked, and it photographs well against pink and cream packaging — which is doing real work when the listing has four days to convert.

Gourmand · the brother's desk
Roasted Coffee Fragrance Oil
Coffee is the gourmand that does not read as sweet, and that distinction is why it consistently outperforms vanilla in gifts bought for brothers. It suits a desk, a study or a home office, it is an easy conversation on a gift tag, and at ₹390 per 100g it is one of the cheapest interesting scents CSI stocks. If you want the same idea at a premium tier, Coffee Blast at ₹1,280 per 100g is richer and considerably more expensive to pour.

Light woody · the unisex anchor
Mahogany Shea Fragrance Oil
Every Rakhi range needs one scent that looks expensive and reads unisex, and this is it. Mahogany Shea is woody without being smoky and warm without being sweet, which lets it sit on a living room shelf in a shared home. It is the scent to put in your higher price point if you only have one, and at ₹489 per 100g it delivers that positioning far below the cost of a designer-inspired oil. Sage and Cedarwood at ₹696 is the drier, greener alternative if you want two woody options.

Do not reach for the oud. The instinct on any Indian festival brief is to pull the premium oriental stock forward, because it works so well for Diwali and weddings. Raksha Bandhan is the exception. Heavy oud, tobacco, leather and most designer-inspired florals carry a personal, sensual register that is misjudged as a gift between siblings — the recipient reads it as a scent someone chose for them romantically. Keep that stock for Diwali and the wedding season, where it earns its price.
Placement, not gender
A brother's desk or car versus a sister's bedside
Where it will live What that room needs Scents that fit
Desk, study, home office Alert, dry, not sweet — a scent you can work next to for two hours Roasted Coffee, Coffee Blast, Sage and Cedarwood, Eucalyptus Spearmint
Car or hanging freshener Small format, high clarity, survives heat Blue Ocean, Citrus Lemon, Lemongrass and Lime, Eucalyptus Spearmint
Bedside, dressing table Soft, low-projection, calming at the end of a day British Rose, Lavender, Japanese Cherry Blossom, Jasmine
Bathroom, hostel room Clean, deodorising, unambiguous Citrus Lemon, Cucumber Green Tea, Eucalyptus Spearmint
Shared living room Unisex, warm, reads expensive on a shelf Mahogany Shea, Sage and Cedarwood, Vanilla Bean
Kitchen or dining corner Edible-adjacent but not cloying Chocolate Fudge, Roasted Coffee, Citrus Lemon

The framing matters more than the labelling. Gendering a candle range on the listing page narrows it — a sister who works from home wants the coffee candle, and a brother with a small flat wants the lavender. Sort by where the candle will sit, not by who is receiving it, and the same six scents cover twice as many buyers. It also gives you something specific to write on the product page, which is worth more in the final week than any adjective.

The CSI principle
A Rakhi candle has to say "I thought about you", not "I chose this for you". Those are different scents.
That one sentence eliminates about a third of a typical candle catalogue — the sensual ouds, the tobacco-and-leather tier, the heavy designer-inspired florals — and it explains why the fresh, soft floral, light gourmand and dry woody families do almost all the work in this season.

Small-format economics: what a 100g candle really saves

The standard advice is that a 100g candle costs roughly half a 200g to make. That is true, but only if you change the glass as well as the wax — and most makers do not, which is why their small format never quite delivers the margin they expected. Here is the arithmetic in full, using CSI stock at 1kg fragrance pricing on Citrus Lemon.

Materials cost · same scent, four formats, 8% fragrance load
Why the vessel decides whether small formats actually pay
Format Oil Wax Wick Vessel Total
200g candle, amber jar 16g · ₹45.30 184g · ₹110.20 ₹5.90 ₹47.20 ₹208.60
100g candle, same amber jar 8g · ₹22.66 92g · ₹55.20 ₹5.90 ₹47.20 ₹130.96
100g candle, mini glass jar 8g · ₹22.66 92g · ₹55.20 ₹5.90 ₹21.24 ₹105.00
Big tealight, ~20g fill 1.6g · ₹4.53 18.4g · ₹11.04 ₹7.07 ₹11.80 ₹34.44

Read the second and third rows together, because that is the whole lesson. Halving the candle from 200g to 100g while keeping the same Amber Shiny Glass Jar takes the cost from ₹208.60 to ₹130.96 — a saving of only 37%, because glass and wick do not shrink with the fill. Swap to a Mini Glass Jar at ₹21.24 each in a pack of 100 and the cost falls to ₹105.00, which is 50.3% of the 200g candle. That is the "roughly half" figure, and it is a vessel decision, not a wax decision.

The components priced above: Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹5,999/10kg (₹0.60/g) · Eco Candle Wicks Thin C1 at ₹590 per 100 (₹5.90 each) · Amber Shiny Glass Jar with Black Lid at ₹236 per pack of 5 (₹47.20 each) · Mini Glass Jars at ₹2,124 per 100 (₹21.24 each) · Big Tealights Empty at ₹1,180 per 100 (₹11.80 each) · Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs at ₹707 (₹7.07 per tabbed wick). Tealight fill is stated as approximately 20g; weigh your own cups before pricing a run.

There is a second, quieter saving that matters more in Rakhi season than at any other time of year: courier weight and breakage risk. A 200g candle in a heavy jar is a 450 to 500 gram parcel with real glass exposure. A 100g candle in a mini jar, or three tealights in a small corrugated box, ships a weight band lower and takes a knock far better. On a gift range where the customer is already paying shipping on a ₹599 order, that difference decides whether the sale happens.

Two price points, nothing else
Build a tealight or wax melt set at around ₹499 retail and a single 100g candle in a gift box at around ₹799. At ₹105 to ₹144 of materials for the candle and roughly ₹43 of packaging, both sit comfortably in the 30 to 35% materials-to-retail band that a small Indian candle brand needs to survive its own shipping costs.

Tealights, wax melts and packaging that survives a courier

Three formats do almost all the useful work in an eleven-day Raksha Bandhan window, and two of them are not candles at all.

Tealights — the fastest assembly unit you have

Big Tealights Empty run around nine hours of burn and cost ₹11.80 each in a pack of 100, or ₹118 for a pack of 10 if you are testing. At roughly 20g of fill each they consume a twentieth of the fragrance a 200g candle does, which means a single 100g bottle of oil covers about 60 tealights at an 8% load. Three in a box with a ribbon is a complete ₹499 gift, and the small fill means a shorter functional rest before they read acceptably than a deep jar candle. Pair them with a tabbed wick from the Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs, or with Cotton Braided Wicks Ready Made if you want them pre-cut. Tea Lights Aluminium at ₹649 per 100 are the cheaper cup if you are running a volume set.

Wax melts — no wick, no flame, no argument

Wax melts are the most underrated Rakhi format in the Indian market. There is no wick to size, no melt pool to diagnose and no fire-safety conversation with a customer buying for a hostel room or a shared flat. Wax Melts Containers Empty come in heart and square shapes at ₹1,475 per 50 or ₹2,950 per 100, which is ₹29.50 each. A 50g clamshell at an 8% load is 46g of wax at ₹27.60 and 4g of oil — ₹11.32 in Citrus Lemon — for a total of about ₹68.42 delivered into the box.

If you would rather sell loose shaped melts than clamshells, the Flower Silicon Mould / Wax Melts Mould is a one-off ₹201 and then the per-melt cost is only wax and fragrance: a 20g flower melt is about ₹15.57 in materials. Six of those in a small kraft box is a genuinely attractive ₹399 to ₹499 gift with under ₹100 of materials in it. The Wax Sachet Mould at ₹589 does the same job for wardrobe and drawer sachets, which post flat and cannot break.

Packaging — budget ₹43 per gift and mean it

Rakhi gifts ship, frequently between cities, and frequently in the last four days when courier networks are at their worst. Underpacking is the single most expensive mistake available in this season, because a broken candle costs you the materials, the shipping, the refund and the review. Everything below is in the packaging materials collection.

Packaging · cost per gift box
What ₹43 buys, and why each line is there
Item Pack price Per gift What it does
Corrugated box 11 × 11 × 8 cm ₹1,121 / 50 ₹22.42 The structural shell — sized so a 100g jar cannot slide
Crinkle Paper Filler 500g ₹300 / 500g ≈₹12.00 Absorbs the drop; the difference between two breakages in forty and none
Packing tissue, 100 sheets ₹650 / 100 ₹6.50 The unboxing moment, and a second layer against glass-on-glass contact
Craft Paper Tape ₹236 / 50m ≈₹0.94 Seals the box and looks deliberate rather than shipped
Candle Care Stickers ₹413 / 500 ₹0.83 Burn-time and trim instructions — required in practice, not optional
Total per gift ≈₹42.69 Roughly 5–6% of a ₹799 retail gift

For smaller units, 3-ply boxes at 4.5 × 3 × 2.5 inch are ₹664 per 50 (₹13.28 each) and suit a wax melt clamshell or a tealight trio. For outer cartons on multi-unit despatch, 7 × 5 × 4 inch boxes at ₹1,336 per 50 work, and an Air Bubble Roll at ₹900 is the cheapest insurance you will buy all season. Add Candle Packaging Paper at ₹413 per 50 if you want a wrapped rather than filled presentation.

The failure is almost always the void, not the box. A candle breaks in transit because it moved, not because the cardboard was thin. If you can shake the closed parcel and hear anything shift, add filler until you cannot. This is a thirty-second check per box and it removes the great majority of festive-season breakage claims — which arrive, inevitably, in the week you have no stock left to replace them with.
In the last week of a festival, packaging is not decoration. It is the only part of the product still under your control.

Wax compatibility for gift formats

All the oils in this guide are formulated for candle applications and work across the CSI soy range, but the wax sets your fragrance load ceiling — and in small formats the ceiling matters more, not less, because there is simply less wax in the room doing the work. Overshooting does not produce a stronger tealight; it produces one that sweats in a courier bag in August.

Wax selection
Match the wax to the gift format
Wax Best for Load From
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 100g jars, votives and tealights — the default for a gift range Up to 13% ₹299 / 500g
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (flakes) Single-pour small jars where a clean top matters for photography Up to 10% ₹260 / 500g
Eco Soy CSI 400 Fast assembly runs; creamy one-pour finish, no additives Standard ₹399 / 1kg
Soy Pillar Wax Shaped wax melts and sachets that must release cleanly from a silicone mould Standard ₹300 / 500g
Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 Your higher price point; smoother finish and a softer, fuller throw Standard ₹325 / 500g
Fragrance temperature, then two full minutes of stirring. Eco Soy CSI 400 specifies adding fragrance at 80–90°C and stirring for two minutes. Too cool and the oil is poorly bound and will separate or sweat; too hot and you flash off the light top notes, which is precisely the failure mode on the fresh and citrus scents that dominate this shortlist. If a lemon or eucalyptus candle reads flat, check your addition temperature before you change oils — and read the weak throw diagnosis guide.

Wick sizing is set by vessel diameter, not by scent. Pair jars and tealights with Eco Candle Wicks, Thin (C1) at ₹590 per 100 for narrow gift jars and Thick (C2) at ₹944 per 100 for anything wider. A mini gift jar wicked with a C2 will tunnel less but may soot; a wide jar wicked with a C1 will never reach the wall and will make every oil on this page read weak. If you are buying vessels fresh, the glass jars collection lists diameter-appropriate options, and 70g votive jars at ₹319 per 10 are the cheapest gift-credible glass CSI stocks.

The 2027 planning calendar, worked back from late August

This is the part of the article that is actually worth acting on today. Raksha Bandhan falls in August each year, on the Purnima tithi of Shravana — confirm the exact 2027 date against the panchang once it is published, because the tithi timing can shift the observed day, exactly as Bhadra Kaal moved 2026 from the 27th to the 28th. What does not shift is the lead time, and the lead time is the constraint.

The chain is fixed: fragrance ordered, tested, cured, judged, bulk ordered, poured, cured again, photographed, listed, sold, packed, dispatched. Two separate 14 to 21 day cure periods sit inside that chain, and they cannot be run in parallel with anything else. Working back from the festival date gives the following.

1
16 weeks out — order the shortlist at 100gAround late April. Buy 100g of each candidate scent, roughly ₹2,375 for the six in this guide, and pour two test candles per scent in the exact vessel you intend to sell. Testing in a different jar than you will ship is the most common wasted test in candle making.

14 weeks out — cure the testsLids on, in a closed box at room temperature, away from sunlight. Do not open them, do not sniff them at day three, and do not form an opinion yet. Fourteen days minimum, twenty-one for anything gourmand or woody.
3
11 weeks out — burn-test and cut the rangeBurn one candle per scent in a closed room of realistic size and judge hot throw at 30 and 120 minutes. Keep the second as your cold-throw reference. Cut to five or six scents. This is the last date at which a scent can still change.
4
10 weeks out — order bulk fragrance, wax and vesselsMove the winners to 500g or 1kg, and order wax, wicks, jars, tealight cups and melt containers in one go. Ordering vessels late is what forces makers into whatever jar is in stock rather than the one they tested in.
5
8 weeks out — order packaging and print labelsBoxes, filler, tissue, tape, care stickers and printed labels. Printing is the step that most reliably runs late, and unlike wax it cannot be substituted at the last minute.
6
7 to 5 weeks out — run productionPour the full range. Batch by scent rather than by SKU so you clean the pouring jug once per fragrance, not once per candle. Weigh everything and record actual cost per unit as you go.
7
4 weeks out — cure, photograph and listThe second cure period runs while you shoot product photography and build listings. This is the only place in the calendar where two tasks genuinely overlap, so protect it.
8
3 weeks out — open sales, publish cut-offsGo live with the range and state your last dispatch date on every listing from day one. Rakhi buying is heavily back-loaded, so the last ten days will carry most of your volume — but only if the listings have been indexed and shared before then.
9
2 weeks to the day — sell, pack, dispatch, stopNo pouring in this window under any circumstances. Hold roughly 15% of stock back for the final four days, when the highest-intent buyers appear and pay full price without a discount code.

Two notes on running this calendar alongside the rest of your year. First, the Rakhi window and the Diwali window overlap on the ordering side. Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November, which means fragrance for Diwali needs deciding around late August or early September — the same fortnight you are dispatching Rakhi orders. Order both at once and you get one bulk price and one delivery instead of two. Second, the fresh and soft floral scents that carry Raksha Bandhan are not the ones that carry Diwali, so treat them as two ranges sharing a supply chain rather than one range stretched across both.

The one thing to do this week
Even if 2026 is already decided, place a 100g test order now for the two or three scents you did not have this year. They will be cured, burn-tested and judged long before anyone else starts thinking about next August — and a scent decided in September is a scent you can buy at 1kg pricing rather than panic-buy at 100g.
Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. That is why this article opens by telling you the 2026 season is largely over rather than selling you a fragrance order you cannot use in time. We stock 92 fragrance oils from ₹300 to over ₹24,000 per kilogram, and none of them is worth buying eleven days before a festival for a candle that needs a fortnight to cure.

Every price, size and product link here is taken from live CSI stock in August 2026 and links directly to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. The Raksha Bandhan date is 28 August 2026, observed on the 28th because the 27th falls in Bhadra Kaal. Cost-per-candle figures are calculated rather than estimated, and every input is named so you can rerun the arithmetic against your own vessel and wick.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best candle fragrances for Raksha Bandhan gifts?
Scents that read as thoughtful rather than intimate. Four groups work: fresh and clean (Citrus Lemon ₹300/100g, Eucalyptus Spearmint ₹354, Cucumber Green Tea ₹353, Lemongrass and Lime ₹590, Blue Ocean ₹495), soft floral (British Rose ₹342, Jasmine ₹430, Japanese Cherry Blossom ₹500, Lavender ₹540), gourmand crowd-pleasers (Vanilla Bean ₹790, Chocolate Fudge ₹396, Roasted Coffee ₹390, Coffee Blast ₹1,280) and light woody (Sage and Cedarwood ₹696, Mahogany Shea ₹489). A six-scent shortlist at 100g each costs ₹2,375 and makes roughly 75 candles of 100g at an 8% load. Heavy sensual ouds and designer-inspired florals are the wrong brief for a sibling gift.
Is there still time to make Raksha Bandhan candles for 2026?
Not for new pours. Raksha Bandhan 2026 falls on Friday 28 August, about eleven days from mid-August. Soy needs 14 to 21 days of cure before the fragrance reads properly, so anything poured now will be judged before it is ready. What is still available this year is ready stock: cured candles you already have, small formats you can assemble quickly such as tealights and wax melts, robust packaging, and honest courier cut-off dates. The genuinely strategic work now is planning 2027.
What size candle works best as a Raksha Bandhan gift?
Smaller than you think. Rakhi budgets are usually modest and the gift is usually shipped, so a 100g candle, a trio of tealights or a wax melt clamshell outperforms a 200g jar. A 100g soy candle in a mini glass jar costs about ₹105 in materials against about ₹209 for a 200g candle in a larger jar, and it ships in a smaller box at a lower courier weight. Two price points, roughly ₹499 and roughly ₹799 at retail, cover almost the whole Rakhi gifting range.
What does a 100g gift candle cost to make in India?
About ₹105 to ₹144 in materials at an 8% fragrance load, depending on the oil. That is 92g of Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹55.20, one Eco Wick at ₹5.90, a mini glass jar at about ₹21.24, and 8g of fragrance oil costing ₹22.66 for Citrus Lemon up to ₹61.17 for Vanilla Bean. The halving against a 200g candle only holds if you downsize the glass as well as the wax — keep the same jar and the saving falls from about half to roughly 37%.
Which candle scents suit a brother and which suit a sister?
Think placement rather than gender. A desk, a car or a study takes Blue Ocean, Sage and Cedarwood, Mahogany Shea, Roasted Coffee, Coffee Blast and Eucalyptus Spearmint, all of which stay alert and do not sweeten a workspace. A bedside, a dressing table or a bathroom shelf takes British Rose, Japanese Cherry Blossom, Jasmine, Lavender, Cucumber Green Tea and Chocolate Fudge. Citrus Lemon and Lemongrass and Lime sit comfortably in both, which is why they are the safest single scent to over-stock.
When should I start planning Raksha Bandhan candles for 2027?
Sixteen weeks before the date, which for an August festival means around late April. Order 100g of each candidate fragrance, pour test candles, cure them 14 to 21 days and burn-test at roughly eleven weeks out. Order bulk fragrance, wax and vessels at ten weeks, packaging at eight weeks, run production from seven to five weeks, cure and photograph at four weeks, and open sales at three weeks. The last two weeks should be selling and dispatch only, never pouring.
Order for the season you can still win
Eleven days is a packing problem. Sixteen weeks is a business.
All 92 CSI fragrance oils ship in 15g, 50g, 100g, 500g and 1kg. The six-scent Rakhi shortlist is ₹2,375 at 100g each and makes roughly 75 candles of 100g. Pair with Luxury Soy Wax Chunks from ₹299, Eco Candle Wicks, tealight cups from ₹11.80 and packaging from the packaging materials collection — and message us for bulk pricing, GST invoicing and documentation.
