How to break a tie between two waxes

1
Same jar, oil, wick and loadPour both waxes side by side. Change nothing else.
2
Judge after the cureCold throw on day one, hot throw after the cure.
3
Judge the surface in your climateA top that is smooth in Bengaluru may frost in a Delhi January.
4
Price the winner per candleIf the better wax costs ₹10 more per candle and lets you charge ₹100 more, it is the cheaper decision.
What this page does not repeat. The qualities that make a soy wax good — adhesion, frosting, throw, melt behaviour — are explained in Which Soy Wax Is Best for Candle Making in India?. This page applies them to CSI's range.

Best in which month? Matching the CSI wax to the Indian year

The decision matrix picks a winner for each job. It does not ask when the candle will be poured, shipped and burned. In India that can change the answer, or at least change how you use the winner.

April to June: the heat test

North and west Indian summers routinely reach 40–45°C. That is below the stated 50–53°C melt point of Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 (flakes), but not by a wide margin, and a parcel or a shop shelf can run hotter than the air. Heat is also when heavily loaded candles sweat. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and CSI 468 both state loads up to 13%, but a stated maximum is a formulation limit, the most the wax is said to hold. It is not a target. For summer stock, start at the 8% convention and climb only if the throw is genuinely weak.

June to September: the humid months

Monsoon humidity mostly changes your working conditions rather than your wax choice: damp cartons, slow-drying labels, jars that must be completely dry before they are warmed. Keep wax bags sealed between pours. None of the six soy choices is a monsoon wax. The discipline is what matters.

North Indian winters: the frosting months

Winter nights can drop near 5°C, and that is when soy candles are most likely to show frosting, the pale crystalline bloom a natural vegetable wax can form. It is cosmetic; the candle burns the same. But if your buyers are in the north and your product photographs were taken in a mild Pune autumn, test a candle in the cold before a winter launch and describe the finish honestly.

Pillars in summer

Soy Pillar Wax is the matrix pick for moulds, and Lalitha Jagan wrote in her review, "This wax is really good to make pillar candles and for moulds." A pillar has no jar to hold it, though, and heat can make soft pillars slump. Its product page publishes no melt point, so ask CSI on WhatsApp before you plan a summer pillar range, and keep finished pillars in the coolest room you have.

Mistake: choosing the wax in one season and selling in another. A formula approved in a cool month can surprise you in May. Keep one candle from each approved test and burn it again after the weather turns.
This festive season
Navratri begins on 11 October and Diwali falls on 8 November 2026. Candles poured now will mostly be burned as the weather cools across the north, so frosting is a likelier surprise than sweating.

Argue against interest
Buy the wax your candle needs, not the bag that looks professional.
We would sell more by telling you to buy 10 kg. On most of our waxes it is not cheaper per kilogram, and wax you cannot use before summer is a storage problem.
Price the candle, not the kilogram.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We publish every pack price, so every per-kilogram and per-candle figure here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger bag is not cheaper.

Prices are taken from live CSI stock in September 2026. Where a product page does not publish a specification, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Collection counts: Candle Wax 15, Fragrance Oils 93, Candle Wicks 7, Containers 81, Moulds 62, Dyes 25.

Assumptions: Fragrance load 8% of total candle weight, so wax is 92% of the fill (a 200 g candle = 184 g wax + 16 g oil). Order plans add a 5% wastage allowance (10% where stated for festive buffers). "Cheapest listed packs" is the lowest-cost combination of listed pack sizes, preferring fewer bags when prices tie within a few rupees. Candle counts are rounded down. Costs are core materials only and exclude jar, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST unless stated. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Pack sizes not listed on the store (2, 20, 25, 100 kg) are shown as combinations of listed packs; larger quantities are quoted on WhatsApp. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November.
