Supplying a production line from Navratri to Diwali 2026
A monthly supply plan works for ordinary months. October and early November are not ordinary. The festive season compresses a large share of the year's demand into a few weeks, and the wax has to be on your shelf before the orders are.
The dates to plan against
Navratri begins on 11 October 2026. Dussehra is on 20 October, Karwa Chauth on 29 October, Dhanteras on 6 November and Diwali on 8 November. Christmas, on 25 December, is the second peak for many makers. Work backwards from the date a candle must leave you, not the date it will be lit.
A worked festive month
Say your ordinary month is 250 candles of 200 g. That is 46.0 kg of wax exactly, or 48.3 kg with the 5% allowance. For the festive month, add the 10% festive buffer on top: 48.3 × 1.1 is about 53.1 kg. Two things follow. You are now past 50 kg in one month, which is the point at which a WhatsApp quote is worth asking for. And if the line runs on Natural Soy Pearl Wax, that month is roughly one 50 kg bag and one 5 kg bag; on CSI 464 it is five 10 kg bags plus a few 1 kg bags.
The oil you forget to scale
The same 250 candles at 16 g each need 4 kg of fragrance oil (250 × 16 g = 4,000 g) before any buffer. At 62 candles per kilogram of oil, a single festive scent selling 100 candles needs about 1.6 kg (100 ÷ 62), so two kilograms in practice. Oil tends to run out before wax because it is spread across several scents, and the best seller empties first.
Lead time is the unknown in the formula
CSI does not quote delivery times; they are confirmed on WhatsApp for your pin code. So your first festive message belongs in late September, not mid-October: the wax, the quantity, your pin code and the date you need it on your shelf. Your reorder point still works, but in festive weeks feed it your expected festive weekly use, not last month's figure.
Mistake: ordering festive wax against ordinary usage. The reorder formula is only as good as the weekly figure you give it. A September number will leave you short by the second week of Navratri.
After Diwali
Do not carry the festive buffer into December by habit. Recalculate for Christmas from your actual November sales, and let stock fall back to your ordinary reorder point before the new year.Where this page fits
