Three of the six are reviews of British Rose Fragrance Oil, the oil this page is mainly about; the other three are for Citrus Lemon, Gardenia and Lavender and are included because they speak to concentration and throw, not to rose. Two longer reviews are shortened with an ellipsis; wording is otherwise unedited. No review of Smoked Rose Royale has been published, so none is shown.

CSI stocks two rose oils and they sit at opposite ends of the price list. British Rose is ₹3,068 a kilogram. Smoked Rose Royale is ₹7,999. This page gives both ladders in full, the yield per kilogram, the real size of the kilogram discount, and the one reason not to order a kilogram yet.

Quick answers — read this first
What does 1 kg of rose fragrance oil cost at CSI? Two prices, because there are two rose oils. British Rose is ₹3,068 per kilogram (₹3.068 per gram) and Smoked Rose Royale is ₹7,999 per kilogram (₹7.999 per gram). Smoked Rose Royale is 2.61× British Rose per gram.

Is the kilogram cheaper than two 500 g packs? On British Rose, yes but modestly: ₹3,068 against ₹3,186, a saving of ₹118, or 3.7%. On Smoked Rose Royale the kilogram is ₹1 dearer — ₹7,999 against ₹7,998. Neither is a volume discount in any meaningful sense.

How many candles does a kilogram make? A 200 g candle at an 8% load takes 16 g, so a kilogram pours 62 candles and puts ₹49.09 of British Rose into each one. At a 10% load it is 50 candles at ₹61.36 each.

Should I order a kilogram straight away? No. Order the 15 g British Rose at ₹94.40 first, pour it in your own wax, and only then commit ₹3,068. Cheap per gram is not the same as right for your range.
The short answer
The kilogram prices: British Rose ₹3,068 (₹3.068/g) · Smoked Rose Royale ₹7,999 (₹7.999/g). British Rose is the cheapest kilogram of any oil in the rose cluster and the cheapest in the whole 2001–2100 commercial fragrance set.
Where it sits: only Citrus Lemon at ₹2.832/g and Citronella at ₹2.95/g are cheaper per gram across all 92 oils. British Rose ties for third with Eucalyptus Spearmint, also ₹3,068/kg.
The honest caveat: the kilogram break is ₹118 on British Rose and minus ₹1 on Smoked Rose Royale. Buy the kilogram for convenience and continuity of batch, not for a discount that is not really there. There is no pack above 1 kg anywhere in the catalogue.

Bars are drawn to scale against the axis below, so the gaps are the real gaps. British Rose sits almost on top of the cheapest oil CSI sells and a long way from the dearest. In a 200 g candle at an 8% load — 16 g of oil — that is ₹49.09 of British Rose against ₹384.90 of Club De Nuit Intense inspired. Same candle, same load, ₹335.81 of difference. Straight answer
What does a kilogram of rose fragrance oil cost for candle making in India, and which one should a business buy?
CSI sells two rose oils. British Rose is ₹3,068 per kilogram, which is ₹3.068 per gram and makes it the joint third-cheapest oil per gram in the whole 92-oil range — only Citrus Lemon at ₹2.832/g and Citronella at ₹2.95/g come in below it. Smoked Rose Royale is ₹7,999 per kilogram, ₹7.999 per gram, 2.61 times British Rose. If you are building a gifting range, a festive bulk order or anything priced to move, British Rose is the correct commercial choice and a rose candle becomes one of the cheapest scented candles you can build. If you are building a premium line where the scent is the story and the retail price carries it, Smoked Rose Royale earns its cost. What you should not do is order either kilogram before you have poured the oil in your own wax. Buy the 15 g British Rose at ₹94.40, test it, and read how much fragrance oil a candle business actually needs before you commit.
One line: British Rose 1 kg is ₹3,068 (₹3.068/g, joint third-cheapest of 92 oils); Smoked Rose Royale 1 kg is ₹7,999; the kilogram break is ₹118 on one and minus ₹1 on the other, so buy for continuity, not for a discount.
Start at 15 g, not at 1 kg. British Rose is ₹94.40 for 15 g — 3.1% of the kilogram price — and 15 g is enough for one 150 g candle at a 10% load. Smoked Rose Royale has no 15 g or 50 g variant, so its cheapest trial is the 100 g at ₹799.

Both rose oils, every pack size, nothing rounded

Two rose oils in one catalogue, 2.61 times apart per gram. They are not competing products. They are answers to two different businesses.

CSI's fragrance-oil ladder runs 15 g, 50 g, 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg, and not every oil carries all five. British Rose carries all five. Smoked Rose Royale starts at 100 g — no 15 g and no 50 g variant exists, so the cheapest way to try it is ₹799, which is 8.46 times the cost of trying British Rose. The premium rose asks you to spend eight times as much before you know whether it suits your wax.

British Rose Fragrance Oil
The cheapest kilogram of any oil in the rose cluster and one of the three cheapest grams in the catalogue. Per-gram cost falls at every step: ₹6.293 a gram at 15 g becomes ₹3.068 a gram at 1 kg, a reduction of 51.3%. That is the real discount on this product — not the kilogram against the 500 g, but the kilogram against the trial size.

Smoked Rose Royale
A three-rung ladder with almost no per-gram movement. Look at the middle column: price per gram rises slightly as the pack gets bigger — ₹7.990 at 100 g, ₹7.998 at 500 g, ₹7.999 at 1 kg. Ten 100 g packs cost ₹7,990 against ₹7,999 for the kilogram, so the ten small packs are ₹9 cheaper. Those are artefacts of a round-number price ladder rather than a policy, but they are what the site charges.

The gap in one comparison: a kilogram of British Rose at ₹3,068 costs ₹931 less than half a kilogram of Smoked Rose Royale at ₹3,999. If rose is a line you sell in volume, that sentence is the whole commercial argument. If you sell it at a premium, ignore it — the customer is not buying grams.
There is no pack above 1 kg
Across all 92 fragrance oils the ladder stops at 1 kg. CSI does not sell a 2 kg, 5 kg or 10 kg fragrance-oil pack — no such variant exists. If you need 2 kg of British Rose it is 2 × ₹3,068 = ₹6,136, and the cart price does not fall automatically because you bought two. Above a kilogram, message +91 7397976926 and ask. CSI has published no discount, rate card, slab or minimum order quantity.

Why ₹3.068 a gram matters more than ₹3,068 a kilogram

Kilogram prices are how oils are sold; per-gram prices are how candles are costed, so the second number is the one that reaches your margin. Across the 92 oils in the fragrance oils collection the per-gram spread at 1 kg pricing runs from ₹2.832 to ₹24.056 — a factor of 8.5. British Rose sits at ₹3.068, which is 8.3% above the cheapest gram and 87.2% below the dearest.

The ranking is short and worth memorising if you sell florals. Citrus Lemon is cheapest at ₹2.832 a gram; Citronella is second at ₹2.95 on its 500 g pack; then British Rose at ₹3.068, tied with Eucalyptus Spearmint at the same ₹3,068 a kilogram. Two of the three cheapest oils are a citrus and a citronella; the third is a rose. That is unusual — rose is normally a premium note — and it means a rose candle is one of the cheapest scented candles a maker in India can build.

Put the dearest oil next to it and the point lands. The dearest oil in the catalogue is Club De Nuit Intense inspired at ₹24,056 a kilogram — ₹24.056 a gram, flat at every pack size. In the same 200 g candle at 8%, 16 g of oil, that is ₹384.90 of fragrance against ₹49.09 of British Rose. You could buy seven kilograms of British Rose for ₹21,476 and still have ₹2,580 left from the price of one kilogram of Club De Nuit. A rose SKU and a designer-inspired SKU at the same retail price are ₹335.81 apart per candle on your costing sheet.

This is also why "cheap oil" and "bad oil" are not the same claim. Per-gram price tracks the cost of the fragrance composition, not a quality tier — the same collection carries a ₹2.832 gram and a ₹24.056 gram, and both ship with the same documentation on request. Before drawing conclusions, read premium versus cheap fragrance oils and how premium brands buy fragrance wholesale.

Is the kilogram actually cheaper than smaller packs?

On one of these two oils the kilogram costs you a rupee more than buying twice. We would rather you knew that from us.

The assumption behind every "buy 1 kg" search is that the kilogram carries a volume discount. On CSI's fragrance oils that is usually wrong, and on the rose pair it is wrong in both directions at once. Here is the arithmetic on every route to a kilogram.

Ways to reach 1 kg · CSI live pricing, September 2026
The kilogram against every smaller route to the same quantity
Route to 1 kg British Rose vs 1 kg (₹3,068) Smoked Rose Royale vs 1 kg (₹7,999)
1 × 1 kg ₹3,068.00 — ₹7,999.00 —
2 × 500 g ₹3,186.00 kg saves ₹118.00 (3.7%) ₹7,998.00 kg is ₹1.00 dearer
10 × 100 g ₹3,422.00 kg saves ₹354.00 (10.3%) ₹7,990.00 kg is ₹9.00 dearer
20 × 50 g ₹4,248.00 kg saves ₹1,180.00 (27.8%) No 50 g variant —
66 × 15 g (990 g) ₹6,230.40 kg saves ₹3,162.40 for 10 g more oil No 15 g variant —

Two findings, and only one of them helps us. First: on British Rose the kilogram does beat two 500 g packs, by ₹118 — 3.7%, or ₹1.89 per 200 g candle at an 8% load. That is one of the better breaks in the rose-and-floral set and it is still modest. Against ten 100 g packs it saves ₹354, or 10.3%, which is the worthwhile comparison and the one nobody runs. Second, against our interest: on Smoked Rose Royale the kilogram is ₹1 dearer than two 500 g packs and ₹9 dearer than ten 100 g packs. Two 500 g bottles are marginally cheaper and give you a sealed reserve. We are not going to pretend otherwise to move a larger line item.

So what is the kilogram actually for?
Batch continuity, not money. One kilogram is one production lot, so 62 candles poured from it smell the same as each other — which matters when a customer reorders in January the scent they bought in October. It is also one order instead of the ten reorders a 100 g habit generates. Real operational gains. Just not a discount, and not worth ₹3,068 if you are not going to pour it.

What a kilogram actually pours: twelve candle sizes and loads

Fragrance load at CSI is a percentage of total finished candle weight, not of the wax: a 200 g candle at 8% is 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax. Candle weight × load = grams per candle; 1,000 ÷ that = candles per kilogram. Below is that sum, run twelve times.

Yield per 1 kg · fragrance cost per candle at 1 kg pricing
Four candle sizes × three loads · British Rose ₹3.068/g · Smoked Rose Royale ₹7.999/g
Candle Load Oil per candle Candles from 1 kg British Rose / candle Smoked Rose Royale / candle
100 g 8% 8 g 125 ₹24.54 ₹63.99
100 g 10% 10 g 100 ₹30.68 ₹79.99
100 g 13% 13 g 76 ₹39.88 ₹103.99
150 g 8% 12 g 83 ₹36.82 ₹95.99
150 g 10% 15 g 66 ₹46.02 ₹119.99
150 g 13% 19.5 g 51 ₹59.83 ₹155.98
200 g 8% 16 g 62 ₹49.09 ₹127.98
200 g 10% 20 g 50 ₹61.36 ₹159.98
200 g 13% 26 g 38 ₹79.77 ₹207.97
300 g 8% 24 g 41 ₹73.63 ₹191.98
300 g 10% 30 g 33 ₹92.04 ₹239.97
300 g 13% 39 g 25 ₹119.65 ₹311.96
Do not use the 13% rows with the wrong wax. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are stated by the wax maker to take up to 13%; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 flakes to take up to 10%. These are formulation limits set by the wax manufacturer — how much oil that specific wax holds in solution — not regulatory limits. Pour 13% into a wax rated to 10% and the surplus does not bind: it sits on the surface, and you have paid for fragrance that never reaches the room. Work to the figure on the wax you bought.

Now the threshold question. How many candles a month justify a kilogram? There is no universal number — it depends on your candle size and load — but the division is simple. At 200 g and 8% you use 16 g a candle, so a kilogram is 62 candles: a maker pouring 62 rose candles a month finishes a kilogram monthly, one pouring 20 a month takes just over three months, and one pouring 100 a month needs 1.6 kg a month. At 100 g and 10% a kilogram is 100 candles. Run your own number before you order.

Why the rupee risk is unusually low here
On most oils the advice would be to prove demand at 500 g first. British Rose weakens that advice, because ₹3,068 for a full kilogram is less than the 500 g price of a great many oils here — less than 500 g of Smoked Rose Royale at ₹3,999, of Vanilla Bean at ₹3,840, of Gilli Mitti at ₹4,480, and less than half the dearest 500 g pack in the range at ₹6,400. Worst case, you are holding ₹3,068 of stock rather than the ₹11,640 a kilogram of Amber Oud Royal would tie up — a small commitment by kilogram standards, and the strongest honest argument for this particular kilogram.
Costing a festive run? Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November, and fragrance has to be decided, poured and cured before it ships. GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation are issued on request for every order, including single-kilogram ones.

Total materials — — ₹242.88 100%

Read the share column. On British Rose the fragrance line is ₹49.09 — smaller than the jar. The glass costs ₹70.80, so the container is 44.2% dearer than the thing the customer is actually buying the candle for. That is not normal, and it happens only because this oil sits at the cheap end of the per-gram ranking. Swap the fragrance line for Smoked Rose Royale at ₹127.98 and the total becomes ₹321.77, fragrance at 39.8% — now the largest single line, ahead of the wax. Swap it for Club De Nuit Intense inspired at ₹384.90 and the total is ₹578.69, fragrance at 66.5%. Three candles, identical in every other respect, at 20.2%, 39.8% and 66.5%. Pricing candles in India in 2026 works through what each does to a retail price.

Against our interest, and we mean it: cheap per gram is not automatically the right oil. British Rose being the third-cheapest gram in the catalogue tells you what it costs, not whether it suits your brand. A rose profile that reads clean and English in one maker's soy blend can read soapy in another's, or too sweet next to a range built on woods and resins — that is a mismatch with the shelf, not a fault in the oil. Buy 15 g of British Rose at ₹94.40, pour it in your own wax, in your own jar, at your own load, and cure it properly before you spend ₹3,068. Fifteen grams is 3.1% of the kilogram price. If the trial fails you have lost ₹94.40; if you skip it you may be holding a kilogram nobody wants.
The CSI principle
The cheapest gram in the catalogue is still the wrong purchase if it is the wrong smell for your shelf.
Per-gram ranking is a costing tool, not a shortlist. Use it to decide what a kilogram is worth once you have already decided you want the scent — never the other way round.

On storage and shelf life, the honest position is that CSI publishes no blanket shelf-life figure for fragrance oils, and we are not going to invent one for a blog post. What the documentation for a specific oil states is available on request — ask for the MSDS and IFRA paperwork on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926, quoting the product name. The storage practice is worth doing regardless of the number: keep the bottle tightly capped in its original container, out of direct sunlight, away from heat, at a stable room temperature, and decant into a smaller bottle rather than repeatedly opening the kilogram — headspace air and light are what degrade a fragrance oil fastest.

A kilogram is a commitment to a scent, not a discount on one. Make the commitment after the test burn, not before it.
— CandleMakingSuppliesIndia

One last framing for anyone building a range rather than a single SKU. These two oils are not a good and a better version of the same thing; they are two price architectures. British Rose at ₹49.09 a candle supports a gifting range, a corporate order or a festive multipack — anywhere the unit price has to stay low and volume is the business. Smoked Rose Royale at ₹127.98 supports a hero product with a story and a retail price that carries an extra ₹78.89 of material cost. Running both is reasonable. Buying a kilogram of the premium one to find out whether the cheap one would have done is not. Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. On a page titled "buy 1 kg" that is worth stating, because the commercially convenient version of this article would claim a volume discount on both oils and stop there. The real numbers are ₹118 on one and minus ₹1 on the other. Both are printed above, because a maker who works that out from their own invoice stops trusting the next thing we publish.

Every price here is a live variant price pulled from the CSI store in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and specification always take precedence. Per-gram figures are the variant price divided by its weight — our arithmetic, not prices shown on the site. The 92-oil count is the live product count in the Fragrance Oils collection. The 10% and 13% loads are the maximums stated by the wax manufacturer for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks; they are formulation limits, not regulatory limits, and they are not interchangeable between waxes.

No shelf life, delivery time, bulk rate, discount slab or minimum order quantity is stated anywhere on this page, because CSI has published none and we will not invent them to close a sale. For a quote above 1 kg, GST invoicing, or MSDS and IFRA documentation on a specific oil, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 with the product name.

Frequently asked questions

How much is 1 kg of rose fragrance oil in India at CSI?
Two rose oils, two prices. British Rose is ₹3,068 for 1 kg — ₹3.068 per gram. Smoked Rose Royale is ₹7,999 for 1 kg, or ₹7.999 per gram, 2.61 times British Rose. British Rose is the joint third-cheapest oil per gram across all 92 oils CSI stocks. CSI live pricing, September 2026; the product pages are authoritative.
Is buying 1 kg cheaper than buying two 500 g packs?
On British Rose, yes, but only by ₹118 — ₹3,068 against ₹3,186, or 3.7%, about ₹1.89 per 200 g candle at 8%. On Smoked Rose Royale the kilogram is ₹1 dearer than two 500 g packs and ₹9 dearer than ten 100 g packs. Buy the kilogram for batch continuity, not for a discount that barely exists.
How many candles will 1 kg of rose fragrance oil make?
Divide 1,000 g by the oil in one candle, where oil equals candle weight × load. At an 8% load a 200 g candle takes 16 g, so a kilogram pours 62 candles at ₹49.09 of British Rose each. At 10% it is 50 candles at ₹61.36. A 100 g candle at 8% takes 8 g, so a kilogram makes 125 candles at ₹24.54 each. Full table in the yield section above.
Does CSI sell rose fragrance oil in 5 kg or 10 kg packs?
No. Across all 92 fragrance oils the ladder stops at 1 kg — there is no 2 kg, 5 kg or 10 kg fragrance-oil pack in the catalogue. Above a kilogram you order multiples of the 1 kg variant, so 2 kg of British Rose is 2 × ₹3,068 = ₹6,136, and the website price does not drop automatically. For larger volumes, ask on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926. CSI has published no discount, slab or minimum order quantity, so do not assume one exists.
Is a cheaper fragrance oil per gram a worse oil?
Not automatically — but cheap per gram is also not a reason to buy. Per-gram price reflects the cost of the fragrance composition, and the same collection holds a ₹2.832 gram and a ₹24.056 gram. What matters is whether the profile suits your range. Order the 15 g British Rose at ₹94.40, pour it in your own wax at your own load and cure it before committing ₹3,068. A rose that reads beautifully in one maker's blend can read soapy or too sweet in another's.
What fragrance load should I use with rose oil, and in which wax?
Work to the ceiling stated for the wax you bought. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are stated to hold up to 13% and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 flakes up to 10%. Those are the wax manufacturer's formulation limits, not regulatory limits, and they are not interchangeable. Anything above the stated ceiling does not bind into the wax and is money spent on fragrance that never reaches the room.

Method and limits: Fragrance load is a percentage of total finished candle weight, so a 200 g candle at 8% is 16 g of oil and 184 g of wax. Candles per kilogram is 1,000 ÷ grams per candle, rounded down to whole candles. Per-gram figures are computed from the listed variant price for writer reference and are not prices displayed on the site. Fragrance load ceilings of up to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and up to 10% for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 flakes are the wax manufacturer's stated formulation limits, not regulatory limits. The Fragrance Oils collection held 92 products on the pull date. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November. No shelf life, delivery time, bulk rate, discount slab or minimum order quantity is stated on this page because CSI has published none.
