At ₹10,000.00 the question is not which wax. It is which pack sizes, and which jar.

Eight kilograms of soy wax, a kilogram of fragrance oil, sixty wicks and fifty jars — the exact packs, the candles they make, and the cost of each one.

materials only, 50 candles of 150 g · ₹485.80 of the ₹10,000.00 held back · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What raw materials can ₹10,000.00 buy for candle making? Eight kilograms of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (₹4,059.20), 1 kg of fragrance oil across two scents (₹3,013.00), 60 Eco Candle Wicks (₹354.00), 50 200ml Salsa Glass Jars (₹1,475.00) and stickers — ₹9,514.20 in all, making 50 candles of 150 g.

How much does one candle from this list cost to make? ₹153.07 in materials with British Rose and ₹148.92 with Citrus Lemon: ₹76.11 of wax, ₹38.23 or ₹34.08 of oil at 8% of wax weight, ₹5.90 of wick, ₹29.50 of jar and ₹2.50 plus ₹0.83 of stickers. Packaging, courier and labour are your own costs.

Does this ₹10,000.00 include equipment? No. This is a materials-only list — wax, fragrance oil, wicks, vessels and stickers. A melter, thermometer, scale and pouring jug are not in it, and neither are cartons, labels, courier or marketing. Buy those from a separate line in your plan.

How many candles does ₹10,000.00 of raw materials make? About 65 at 150 g in a ₹29.50 jar, about 105 at 70 g in a votive, and about 45 at 150 g in a ₹94.40 premium glass jar. The vessel, not the wax, decides the yield.
The short answer
Buy this: 8 kg of CSI 464, 500 gm each of two fragrance oils, 60 Eco C1 wicks, 50 salsa jars and two sticker packs — ₹9,514.20.
It makes 50 candles: 150 g of wax and 12 g of oil each, at a consumed cost of ₹153.07, with ₹1,964.60 of materials still on the shelf afterwards.
It excludes: all equipment, and every packaging, courier, labour and marketing cost — those are your own figures, not CSI prices.

Straight answer
What exactly should I buy with ₹10,000.00 for candle making raw materials?
Buy eight kilograms of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 as one 5 kg pack plus three 1 kg packs (₹4,059.20), 500 gm each of two fragrance oils — British Rose at ₹1,593.00 and Citrus Lemon at ₹1,420.00 — sixty Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) as a 50-pack plus a 10-pack (₹354.00), fifty 200ml Salsa Glass Jars in the 50-pack (₹1,475.00), two sheets of wick stickers (₹200.00) and a 500 roll of candle care stickers (₹413.00). That is ₹9,514.20, and it makes fifty 150 g candles at a consumed cost of ₹153.07 each with British Rose or ₹148.92 with Citrus Lemon — 12 g of oil per candle, a load of 8% of wax weight, inside the 10% maximum stated on the CSI 464 page. Hold the remaining ₹485.80 back rather than spending it. The list contains no equipment and no packaging: melting, weighing, cartons, labels, courier, electricity and labour are costs CSI does not sell and this page will not invent a figure for. Change only the vessel and the same budget makes about 105 votives or about 45 premium glass jars, which is why the jar is the first decision, not the last.
One line: Eight kilograms of wax, a kilogram of oil, sixty wicks and fifty jars — ₹9,514.20 for fifty 150 g candles at ₹153.07 each in materials.
The whole list in one basket. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 5 kg ₹2,537.00 plus three 1 kg packs, British Rose and Citrus Lemon at 500 gm each, sixty Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1), fifty 200ml Salsa Glass Jars and the stickers come to ₹9,514.20 — fifty 150 g candles, with ₹485.80 of the budget deliberately unspent.

The ₹10,000.00 raw material list, line by line

Materials only. No melter, no thermometer, no scale, no packaging — those are somebody else’s budget line, and pretending otherwise is how a materials budget quietly becomes an equipment budget.

This list makes fifty 150 g scented soy candles in two scents. Every item is a live CSI pack at September 2026 pricing, and the basket totals ₹9,514.20, leaving ₹485.80 of the ₹10,000.00 unspent on purpose. The unspent part is not slack: it is the money you need on the day a wick fails a burn test or one scent sells out and the other does not.

The working candle is 150 g of wax with 12 g of fragrance oil — a load of 8% of wax weight, the starting point the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page gives and comfortably inside the 10% maximum stated on the Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 page. Where a wax ceiling and an oil page’s stated range differ, the lower figure governs. Wax and oil together are 70.7% of the list; the wicks everyone worries about are 3.5%.

Priced above: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 1 kg ₹507.40 (₹507.40/kg), 5 kg ₹2,537.00; British Rose 500 gm ₹1,593.00 (₹3.19/g); Citrus Lemon 500 gm ₹1,420.00 (₹2.84/g); Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) ₹5.90 each in every pack size; Candle Wick Stickers ₹2.50 each; 200ml Salsa Glass Jar ₹29.50 each in the 50-pack; Candle Care Stickers ₹0.83 each in the 500-pack. Working candle: 150 g wax + 12 g oil at 8% of wax weight.

One number in that table is an assumption and you should treat it as one: the salsa jar page states a 200 ml capacity, not a fill weight in grams. A 150 g soy fill leaves sensible headroom under the lug cap, but confirm it on jar one by weighing what you actually pour before you commit the batch. Vessels with a published gram fill — the Clear Glass Votive Jar at 70 g, the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid at 150 g, the Tin Containers at 85 g and 135 g — take that guesswork away, at a different price.

The six pack-size decisions hiding inside the list

At ₹10,000.00 you are not choosing products so much as choosing pack sizes. Two of those choices are worth real money and four are worth almost nothing.

1 · Wax: buy the 1 kg rate, never the 500 g rate

Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 costs ₹507.40 a kilogram at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg alike. The only pack that costs more per kilogram is the 500 g at ₹260.00 — ₹520.00 a kilogram. So the 5 kg pack is not a discount, it is a convenience; the reason this list buys one 5 kg plus three 1 kg packs rather than eight 1 kg packs is nothing but fewer bags to open. If you would rather hold less wax, buy 1 kg packs and spend the difference on jars.

Grade matters more than pack size here. Eco Soy CSI 400 is ₹399.00 a kilogram — ₹59.85 of wax in a 150 g candle against ₹76.11 for CSI 464, a ₹16.26 saving per candle and ₹813.00 across the fifty. Its page does not publish a fragrance ceiling, so you would be testing your 8% load without a stated maximum to work to; ask on WhatsApp before you build a range on it. Going the other way, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599.00 a kilogram adds ₹13.74 per candle and buys you a page-stated ceiling of 13% if you later want a heavier load.

2 · Fragrance oil: the 500 gm pack is the first honest step up

British Rose is ₹3.42/g in the 100 gm pack, ₹3.19/g in the 500 gm and ₹3.07/g at 1 kg. Buying the 300 g this list actually pours as three 100 gm packs costs ₹1,026.60; the same 300 g out of a 500 gm pack costs ₹955.80. That is a 6.9% cut in the rate — real, but it works out at under two rupees a candle. The stronger argument for the 500 gm pack is that it leaves 200 g on the shelf, which is the next 16 candles without a new order.

The scent you pick moves the number far more than the pack you pick. At 12 g a candle, Citrus Lemon at ₹2.84/g costs ₹34.08 and British Rose at ₹3.19/g costs ₹38.23. CSI stocks oils across a wide range of per-gram rates, from under three rupees a gram to several times that, so a single choice on the oils page can change your candle cost by more than every pack-size decision on this page put together.

3 · Wicks: pack size changes nothing at all

Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) are ₹5.90 each in the 10-pack, the 50-pack, the 100-pack and the 1000-pack. There is no volume rate to chase, so buy the number you will use plus a burn-testing margin — here, a 50-pack (₹295.00) plus a 10-pack (₹59.00). Thick (C2) is ₹9.44 each on the same flat basis. CSI does not publish wick sizes by jar diameter, so plan to burn two or three test candles before you pour fifty; the live wick guide by diameter gives starting points and the rest is your own burn test.

4 · Vessels: the one line where bulk genuinely pays

The 200ml Salsa Glass Jar is ₹40.12 each in the 5-pack and ₹29.50 each in the 50-pack — a 26.5% cut, the largest pack-size saving in this basket. Fifty jars bought five at a time would cost ₹2,006.00 instead of ₹1,475.00. The 100-pack is the same ₹29.50 each, so there is nothing further to gain by doubling up; buy 50 and keep the cash.

5 · Stickers: small money, and the wick sticker is not optional

Candle Wick Stickers are ₹2.50 each in the sheet of 40. A wick that lifts off the base mid-pour ruins a candle you have already paid ₹153.07 to make, so two sheets is the cheap insurance in this list. Candle Care Stickers are ₹0.83 each at 500 and ₹0.70 each at 1000; the 500 roll is enough for this batch and the next.

6 · Colour: leave it out at this budget

A 50 gm Candle Dye Liquid is ₹472.00 — about five per cent of the whole budget, spent on something that changes nothing about how the candle burns or smells. At ₹10,000.00, uncoloured natural soy is a defensible look and the money buys ten more jars instead. Add colour at the next budget, once you know which of your two scents sells.

BUY THE SPARES, NOT THE UPGRADE
The temptation at ₹10,000.00 is to spend the last ₹485.80 on a nicer jar or a third scent. Spend it on nothing. A batch of fifty candles will eat two or three wicks in burn tests, and one broken jar or one wick that tunnels is a same-week re-order. Money you have already spent cannot fix a batch; money you have held back can.

Cost per candle has two right answers

One answer tells you what the candle costs. The other tells you what the month costs. Mixing them up is the most common arithmetic mistake in a first budget.

Consumed cost is what actually goes into one candle: the grams of wax, the grams of oil, one wick, one wick sticker, one jar, one care label. Basket cost is the whole list divided by the candles it produced. They differ because packs do not divide neatly into candles, and the gap is not waste — it is stock sitting on your shelf.

Consumed cost
What one 150 g candle from this list actually uses, at the pack rates bought

Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 150 g ₹507.40/kg ₹76.11 ₹76.11
Fragrance oil at 8% of wax weight 12 g ₹3.19/g · ₹2.84/g ₹38.23 ₹34.08

200ml Salsa Glass Jar with lid 1 ₹29.50 each ₹29.50 ₹29.50
Candle care label 1 ₹0.83 each ₹0.83 ₹0.83
Consumed cost per candle — — ₹153.07 ₹148.92
Priced above: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 1 kg ₹507.40; British Rose 500 gm ₹1,593.00; Citrus Lemon 500 gm ₹1,420.00; Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 10 Wicks ₹59.00; Candle Wick Stickers 40 for ₹100.00; 200ml Salsa Glass Jar 50 Pcs ₹1,475.00; Candle Care Stickers 500 for ₹413.00. Materials from CSI only — packaging, courier and labour are your own costs and are not in this figure.

Twenty-five of each scent consumes ₹7,549.60 of the basket. The other ₹1,964.60 is still in your workroom: ₹253.70 of wax, ₹637.20 and ₹568.00 of the two oils, ₹59.00 of wicks, ₹75.00 of wick stickers and ₹371.70 of care labels. Divide the basket by fifty and you get ₹190.28 a candle; divide the full ₹10,000.00 by fifty and you get ₹200.00. Neither is wrong, and neither is the number to cost your product on.

For deciding what a candle costs to make, use the consumed figure — ₹153.07 with British Rose, ₹148.92 with Citrus Lemon. For deciding whether this month worked, use the basket figure and then subtract the ₹1,964.60 of stock you still hold. The pricing calculator guide takes it from there; this page stops at materials, because retail pricing depends on costs CSI does not sell you.

The composition is worth sitting with. In this candle, wax is 50% of the consumed cost, fragrance oil 25%, and the jar 19%. Move to the Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid at ₹94.40 each and the jar alone becomes 43% of a ₹217.97 candle. The vessel, not the wax, is what a budget candle business is really buying.

Costing candles by dividing the whole order by the candles you poured. You bought 1 kg of fragrance oil and poured 600 g of it, so ₹190.28 a candle silently books 400 g of good oil as a cost of batch one. Next month you pour from that oil and your candles look impossibly cheap. Cost each candle on grams consumed at the rate you paid, and carry the leftovers forward as stock. The batch cost is a cash-flow number; the consumed cost is a product number.
Leaving the jar out of the candle cost because you bought it separately. At ₹29.50 the salsa jar is 19% of this candle and at ₹94.40 the premium glass jar is 43% of that one. A costing that counts wax, oil and wick but treats vessels as overheads will understate every candle you make by the largest single component in it.

The vessel decides the yield: 45 to 105 candles for the same ₹10,000.00

Change nothing but the jar and the same budget produces less than half, or more than double, the candles.

The table below holds everything else constant — CSI 464, British Rose at 8% of wax weight, an Eco C1 wick, one wick sticker and one care label — and swaps only the vessel and the fill it is built for. The candle counts are the budget divided by the consumed cost and rounded down; they are illustrative arithmetic, not a promise, because pack quantities and your own breakages will move them.

Yield by vessel
Same ₹10,000.00, same recipe, four CSI vessels
Vessel Fill used Vessel cost each Wax + oil Consumed cost Candles from ₹10,000.00
Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram 70 g (page-stated) ₹31.86 ₹35.52 + ₹17.84 ₹94.45 about 105
200ml Salsa Glass Jar 150 g (working assumption) ₹29.50 ₹76.11 + ₹38.23 ₹153.07 about 65
Tin Container 135 gram 135 g (page-stated) ₹96.76 ₹68.50 + ₹34.41 ₹208.89 about 47
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid 150 g (page-stated) ₹94.40 ₹76.11 + ₹38.23 ₹217.97 about 45
Priced above: Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram, Pack of 10 ₹318.60 (₹31.86 each); 200ml Salsa Glass Jar, 50 Pcs ₹1,475.00 (₹29.50 each); Tin Containers 135 gram, Pack of 12 ₹1,161.12 (₹96.76 each); Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid, Pack of 10 ₹944.00 (₹94.40 each). Wax and oil at the 1 kg and 500 gm rates used throughout this page. Candle counts are ₹10,000.00 divided by the consumed cost, rounded down — illustrative.

Read the last column honestly. The votive gets you 105 candles because it is a 70 g candle, not because it is efficient: you are selling less wax and less fragrance in a smaller object, and the buyer knows it. The premium glass jar gets you 45 because ₹94.40 of the ₹217.97 consumed cost is the jar and its lid. Neither is right or wrong until you know what you can sell, which is why this decision belongs before the shopping list, not after it.

There is a fifth option the table leaves out on purpose. Tea Lights Aluminium are ₹6.49 each in the 100-pack, and a filled tealight is a few grams of wax and a small wick. They are a legitimate way to turn leftover wax into saleable stock, and a poor way to build a brand as your only product — a point the live container versus pillar guide takes further.

The CSI principle
At ₹10,000.00, you are not buying candles. You are buying one decision about what a candle is.
Same recipe, same budget: 105 votives at ₹94.45 each in materials, or 45 premium jars at ₹217.97. The wax bill barely moves — ₹35.52 against ₹76.11.
Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November 2026. Soy throw keeps developing well past the 48-hour minimum on the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page, so a batch poured by 15 October finishes a 14–21 day cure between 29 October and 5 November, leaving room for courier transit. Fifty jars, 8 kg of wax and 1 kg of fragrance oil is one order — place it in a single consignment rather than three small ones.

What ₹10,000.00 of raw materials does not include

A raw material list is a true list only if it says out loud what it is not.

This page prices materials that CSI sells, from CSI product pages. It does not price equipment, and it does not price the things that turn a poured candle into a delivered order — because CSI does not sell those and will not invent a number for them. Put your own figures in the second table below before you call the ₹10,000.00 a plan.

The equipment gap is the bigger surprise. You still need a way to melt wax, a way to read its temperature and a way to weigh it. CSI stocks all three, and they are deliberately absent from this basket: at ₹10,000.00 the choice is fifty candles with borrowed kitchen equipment, or twenty-five candles with a melter. The companion full-startup guide at this budget covers that trade-off; this page assumes you already have a double boiler, a scale and somewhere to pour.

Fill these in yourself — CSI does not sell or publish them, so no figure is given here

Total: materials from CSI 50 candles ₹9,514.20 Every line priced from a live product page
Total: your own costs 50 candles your figure Add the rows above before you price anything

Two of those rows tend to be underestimated by first-time makers, and both are glass. A 150 g filled candle plus jar and carton is heavier than it looks, and Indian courier pricing rewards fewer, larger consignments — which is an argument for ordering this list once rather than in three instalments. The second is breakage: assume a small percentage of jars will arrive or leave imperfect. This page uses a 5% allowance in the spare wax, wicks and stickers above; that is an assumption for planning, not measured data.

On tax and registration, ask your own adviser. CSI issues GST invoices and its prices are inclusive of taxes, as stated on the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page. What you must charge, register for, or claim back is a question for a professional who knows your turnover and state — not for a supplier and not for a blog.

Turning the list into fifty candles: a four-step plan

The list is not the plan. Pouring all fifty on the day the parcel lands is the fastest way to make fifty identical mistakes.
1
Pour three, not fifty Use three jars, three wicks and about 450 g of wax with 36 g of oil — roughly ₹459.20 of materials. Weigh what a jar actually takes so you can replace the 150 g working assumption with your own number. Add fragrance in the 80–90°C window the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page gives and stir slowly for two full minutes.
2
Burn one at 48 hours, judge at 14 days The Chunks page asks for a minimum 48-hour cure and ideally one to two weeks before burn testing. Light one test candle at 48 hours to check the wick reaches the wall and the flame is steady; judge scent at day 14. If the Thin (C1) wick leaves a ring of unmelted wax, the Thick (C2) at ₹9.44 is your next rung — the difference it makes to the batch cost is a few rupees a candle.
3
Pour the first scent in full, then the second Twenty-five candles of one scent, then twenty-five of the other, rather than alternating. One melt, one stir routine, one pour temperature per session gives you jars that look and smell like each other, which is the whole point of a range.
4
Label, cure, and hold the buffer Care label on the base, pour date and scent written where you can read it, lids on. Fourteen to twenty-one days is standard practice for soy container candles before they are sold as finished. Keep the ₹485.80 unspent until the batch is cured and sold — then it becomes the deposit on your next order, not an emergency fund.
A raw material list that does not name what it leaves out is a wish list with rupee signs on it.

What is left on the shelf, and what to buy first next time

The second order is cheaper than the first, and the reason is sitting in your cupboard.

After fifty candles you still hold ₹1,964.60 of materials: 500 g of wax, 400 g of fragrance oil across two scents, ten wicks, thirty wick stickers and 450 care labels. Only one line is fully consumed — the jars. That shape repeats for most small candle makers: vessels run out first, fragrance oil runs out last, and the fastest way to waste a budget is to re-order in the same proportions as the first list.

Priced above: leftovers valued at the rate paid — CSI 464 at ₹507.40/kg, British Rose at ₹3.19/g, Citrus Lemon at ₹2.84/g, Eco C1 at ₹5.90, wick stickers at ₹2.50, care labels at ₹0.83. Batch-two guidance assumes both scents sell evenly, which they usually do not.

Two of those oils will not sell equally, and that is the useful part of a two-scent list. Whichever moves faster earns the 500 gm or 1 kg pack next time — British Rose drops from ₹3.19/g to ₹3.07/g at 1 kg (₹3,068.00), Citrus Lemon from ₹2.84/g to ₹2.83/g. Whichever moves slower gets bought in the 100 gm pack, or dropped. That is the entire discipline of a small range: let the batch decide the pack size, not the other way round.

When you do step up, step up on the jar before the wax. The wax rate does not improve above 1 kg on CSI 464, so a 10 kg pack at ₹5,074.00 buys stock cover and nothing else. The jar rate improved 26.5% between the 5-pack and the 50-pack and then stopped. For anything beyond the pack sizes shown on the product pages, bulk pricing is a WhatsApp conversation — we do not publish a bulk rate card, and you should not plan a budget on a discount nobody has quoted you.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles, so a page like this has an obvious incentive to fill your cart. It argues the other way in three places: buy the 1 kg wax rate rather than a bigger pack, because the per-kilogram rate on Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 does not improve above 1 kg; skip the dye at this budget; and leave part of the ₹10,000.00 unspent. We also name the cheaper wax grade and what you give up by choosing it.

Every price is from live CSI stock in September 2026 and the linked product pages are authoritative. Fragrance load is stated as a percentage of wax weight, as CSI product pages state it: 8% here, inside the 10% maximum published on the Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 page. The 200 ml salsa jar page publishes a volume, not a gram fill, so the 150 g fill used throughout is a working assumption you should confirm by weighing your first pour; the 70 g, 85 g, 135 g and 150 g fills quoted for other vessels are page-stated. Candle counts, the 5% spare allowance and the re-order shape are illustrative planning arithmetic, not measured data.

Frequently asked questions

Is ₹10,000.00 enough to start a candle business in India?
It is enough for raw materials — this list makes 50 candles for ₹9,514.20 — if you already have a way to melt, weigh and pour. It is not enough for materials plus equipment plus packaging plus marketing. Treat ₹10,000.00 as one line in a plan, not the plan.
How many candles can I make with 1 kg of soy wax?
At 150 g a candle, about six; at 70 g, about fourteen. The Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page gives 6–12 candles per kilogram depending on candle size. At ₹507.40/kg for CSI 464 that is ₹76.11 of wax in a 150 g candle.
How much fragrance oil do I need for 50 candles?
At 150 g of wax and a load of 8% of wax weight, 12 g per candle — 600 g for fifty. This list buys 1 kg across two scents so each has 200 g spare. Where a wax ceiling and an oil page range differ, the lower figure governs.
Should I buy the 5 kg or 10 kg wax pack to save money?
On Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, neither saves anything: 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg are all ₹507.40 a kilogram, and only the 500 g pack is dearer at ₹520.00/kg. A larger pack buys stock cover and fewer bags, not a discount. Bulk pricing beyond the listed packs is on WhatsApp.
What is the cheapest vessel for a candle business in India?
Of the vessels in this list, the 200ml Salsa Glass Jar at ₹29.50 each in the 50-pack and the Clear Glass Votive Jar at ₹31.86 each. Tea Lights Aluminium are cheaper still at ₹6.49 each in the 100-pack, but a tealight is a different product, not a cheaper version of a jar candle.
Does this list include packaging and courier costs?
No. Cartons, mailers, bubble wrap, brand labels, ribbon, courier charges, electricity, labour and marketing are not sold or priced by CSI, so they appear in this guide as blank rows for you to fill in. Total your page as materials from CSI plus your own costs.

About this guide: Written by the CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA team. The costing method — consumed cost against basket cost, pack-rate comparison, yield by vessel and a blank-row worksheet for costs the supplier does not sell — applies to any supplier’s materials. Only the prices and the product-page specifications are CSI-specific.

Customer reviews: The six reviews at the top of this page are genuine, published Judge.me reviews left by CSI customers on their product pages. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me. Two longer reviews are shortened with an ellipsis; wording is otherwise unedited. One is below five stars and two are not recorded as a verified purchase — shown as recorded. Not recorded by Judge.me as a verified purchase, so shown without a verified-buyer badge: Ashwini, Mahak agarwal. No location is shown against any review because Judge.me does not store one.
