Candle Business Guides · Citrus Family
Twelve citrus-led oils are listed at CSI in September 2026 and eleven of them have a kilo you can actually buy, from ₹2,832 to ₹11,999. This guide prices the whole wholesale tier, shows what a hundred candles of each costs in fragrance alone, and finds the two places in the range where moving up a pack size genuinely changes your cost base.
₹66,264.20
buys one kilo of every citrus oil CSI can ship today — eleven kilos, eleven scents, 11 kg of fragrance and enough for 687 × 200 g candles at 8%. The cheapest single kilo is ₹2,832 and the dearest is ₹11,999 · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What does a kilo of citrus fragrance oil cost in India? At CSI in September 2026: ₹2,832 for Citrus Lemon, ₹2,891 for Citronella, ₹3,400 for Zesty Lemon, ₹4,720 for Verbena, ₹5,200 for Lemongrass and Lime and up to ₹11,999 for the dearest. Eleven kilos are in stock; Grapefruit Oleo's kilo is listed but sold out.

What does a hundred candles cost in citrus alone? A hundred 200 g candles at 8% need 1.6 kg of oil. That is ₹4,531.20 in Citrus Lemon, ₹4,625.60 in Citronella, ₹5,440 in Zesty Lemon, ₹7,552 in Verbena and ₹19,198.40 in the dearest citrus in stock.

Is the kilo cheaper per gram than 500 g? Barely, and on three oils it is a rupee dearer. The real break is lower down: Citronella falls from ₹7.67 a gram at 100 gm to ₹2.95 at 500 gm, a 61.5% drop, and Verbena's kilo saves ₹236 against two 500 g packs. Everywhere else the ladder is flat within pennies.

Can I buy more than a kilo? As multiple 1 kg bottles at the listed rate — 1 kg is the largest fragrance pack CSI lists. There is no 5 kg or 10 kg citrus bottle, so the listed per-kilo price is the ceiling for a larger quantity, not a discount you can assume. Recurring volumes are quoted on WhatsApp.
The short answer
Citrus is the cheapest family to buy in volume and the riskiest to buy early: a kilo is 62 × 200 g candles at 8%, and citrus character sits in the lightest, most volatile part of a composition. Qualify the scent on a cured jar before the kilo, not after.
The wholesale break is at 500 g, not at 1 kg: on Citronella the 100 gm pack is ₹7.67 a gram and the 500 gm is ₹2.95. On Verbena it is ₹5.90 against ₹4.96. From 500 g to 1 kg almost nothing moves.
Two listings have no 500 g step at all: Grapefruit Oleo and Orange no.3 go 100 g straight to 1 kg, so the jump from a test pack to a production pack is ten times the quantity in one step.

Every citrus kilo you can buy today — listed 1 kg price, September 2026 Citrus Lemon ₹2,832 Citronella ₹2,891 Zesty Lemon ₹3,400 Verbena ₹4,720 Lemongrass and Lime ₹5,200 Bergamot Amber ₹5,437 Neroli ₹6,655.20 Juicy Orange ₹7,499 Neroli Signature Grade ₹7,599 Orange no.3 ₹8,032 Tangerine ₹11,999 All eleven together: ₹66,264.20 for 11 kg of fragrance — 687 × 200 g candles at 8%, one scent at a time. Grapefruit Oleo also lists a kilo, at ₹3,407, but it is sold out; its 100 g pack at ₹341 is the only size available.
The cheapest citrus kilo and the dearest differ by ₹9,167 — a factor of 4.24. Inside a single 200 g candle at 8% that is the difference between ₹45.31 and ₹191.98 of fragrance, which across a hundred candles is ₹14,667.20 of working capital committed before wax, wick, jar or label.
Straight answer
Which citrus fragrance oils can I buy wholesale in India, and what do the kilos cost?
Eleven citrus kilos are in stock at CSI in September 2026. The volume end of the family is Citrus Lemon at ₹2,832 a kilo — ₹2.83 a gram, ₹45.31 of oil in a 200 g candle at 8% — and Citronella at ₹2,891, with Zesty Lemon at ₹3,400 and Verbena at ₹4,720 close behind. Above them sit Lemongrass and Lime at ₹5,200, Bergamot Amber at ₹5,437, Neroli at ₹6,655.20, Juicy Orange at ₹7,499, Neroli Signature Grade at ₹7,599, Orange no.3 at ₹8,032 and Tangerine at ₹11,999. Grapefruit Oleo lists a kilo at ₹3,407 but it is sold out, leaving its 100 g at ₹341. One kilo pours 62 × 200 g candles or 83 × 150 g at 8%, and a hundred 200 g candles need 1.6 kg — ₹4,531.20 of Citrus Lemon, ₹7,552 of Verbena, ₹19,198.40 of Tangerine. The step worth planning around is not 1 kg but 500 g: Citronella drops from ₹7.67 a gram to ₹2.95 there, and Verbena from ₹5.90 to ₹4.96. Above a kilo, CSI lists nothing — larger volumes are multiple bottles at the listed rate and a WhatsApp quote.
One line: eleven citrus kilos from ₹2,832, a 500 g tier that is where the real price break lives, and no pack above 1 kg anywhere in the catalogue.
Moving a citrus scent into production? Citrus Lemon 500 gm ₹1,420 or 1 kg ₹2,832, Citronella 500 gm ₹1,475, Zesty Lemon 500g ₹1,720 — three complete ladders and the three cheapest grams in the family, all in stock.

The eleven citrus kilos you can buy

A kilo of citrus is sixty-two candles and about three months of a small brand's summer. Price it that way and the decision gets serious.

Citrus is the family Indian makers buy most of, because it sells through the summer, the monsoon and the whole gifting calendar, and because it is the cheapest fragrance direction in the catalogue. That combination makes it the family where a wholesale mistake costs the most, so the table starts with the number that matters at volume: what a hundred candles of each one costs in fragrance alone. Everything is calculated from the listed 1 kg price, since that is the wholesale tier this page is about, and a 200 g candle at 8% is 184 g of wax plus 16 g of oil.

Grapefruit Oleo ₹3,407 (sold out) ₹3.41 at 100 g ₹54.56 ₹5,456 Not listed
Worked out above: per gram = 1 kg price ÷ 1,000. Oil per candle = per gram × 16 g. Fragrance for 100 candles = per gram × 1,600 g. Citrus Lemon ₹2,832 ÷ 1,000 = ₹2.832/g × 16 = ₹45.31 and × 1,600 = ₹4,531.20 · Verbena ₹4.72/g × 16 = ₹75.52 and × 1,600 = ₹7,552 · Tangerine ₹11.999/g × 16 = ₹191.98 and × 1,600 = ₹19,198.40. Grapefruit Oleo is costed on its in-stock 100 g pack at ₹3.41 a gram, because its kilo cannot currently be bought. All eleven buyable kilos together: ₹2,832 + ₹2,891 + ₹3,400 + ₹4,720 + ₹5,200 + ₹5,437 + ₹6,655.20 + ₹7,499 + ₹7,599 + ₹8,032 + ₹11,999 = ₹66,264.20.

Two facts in that table are worth holding on to. The first is the 4.24-to-one ratio between the cheapest and dearest citrus gram, which is wider than most makers assume and which does not correspond to how bright the oil smells on a blotter. What separates a ₹2,832 kilo from an ₹11,999 one is structure — what the page states is underneath the citrus — and that argument is made in full in best citrus fragrance oils for candle making in India, which takes the selection angle where this page takes the purchasing one. The second is the 500 g column: ten of the twelve listings have one, and two do not, which changes how you can step into them at all.

Two listings jump from 100 g straight to 1 kg. Orange no.3 lists 50g, 100g and 1kg. Grapefruit Oleo lists 50g, 100g and 1kg, and today only the 100 g is in stock. That means there is no 500 g rung to test a production batch on: you go from a ₹803 sample to an ₹8,032 commitment in one move, or from a ₹341 pack to nothing at all. When a listing has no middle rung, buy three of the largest available small pack — 300 g, or eighteen 200 g candles at 8% — and run a real batch before the kilo — it costs more per gram and far less in total than a kilo that turns out to be the wrong scent.

Where the pack break really falls

Wholesale buyers look at the kilo price. In this family the interesting movement happens one rung below it. The table divides every listed pack price by its grams so you can see the actual shape of each ladder, and the last column compares two 500 g packs against one kilo — the two routes to the same thousand grams.

Where each citrus ladder actually steps down — and where it does not
Oil 100 g 500 g 1 kg Fall from 100 g to 500 g Two 500 g packs vs one kilo
Citronella ₹7.67 ₹2.95 ₹2.89 −61.5% ₹2,950 vs ₹2,891 — kilo saves ₹59
Verbena ₹5.90 ₹4.96 ₹4.72 −16.0% ₹4,956 vs ₹4,720 — kilo saves ₹236
Lemongrass and Lime ₹5.90 ₹5.20 ₹5.20 −11.9% ₹5,200 vs ₹5,200 — identical
Citrus Lemon ₹3 ₹2.84 ₹2.83 −5.3% ₹2,840 vs ₹2,832 — kilo saves ₹8
Zesty Lemon ₹3.60 ₹3.44 ₹3.40 −4.4% ₹3,440 vs ₹3,400 — kilo saves ₹40
Bergamot Amber ₹5.60 ₹5.44 ₹5.44 −2.9% ₹5,436 vs ₹5,437 — two halves save ₹1
Neroli Signature Grade ₹7.99 ₹7.80 ₹7.60 −2.4% ₹7,798 vs ₹7,599 — kilo saves ₹199
Neroli ₹6.66 ₹6.66 ₹6.66 0% ₹6,655.20 vs ₹6,655.20 — identical
Juicy Orange ₹7.49 ₹7.50 ₹7.50 +0.1% ₹7,498 vs ₹7,499 — two halves save ₹1
Tangerine ₹11.99 ₹12 ₹12 +0.1% ₹11,998 vs ₹11,999 — two halves save ₹1
Orange no.3 ₹8.03 Not listed ₹8.03 — No 500 g rung
Grapefruit Oleo ₹3.41 Not listed ₹3.41 (sold out) — No 500 g rung

Read down the "fall" column and the family divides into two groups. Citronella is on its own: the same oil costs ₹7.67 a gram in a 100 gm bottle and ₹2.95 in a 500 gm one, so a maker buying 500 g as five 100 gm packs would pay ₹3,835 instead of ₹1,475 — ₹2,360 more for the identical quantity. That is not a discount; it is simply how the packs are priced, and it is worth confirming on the product page before ordering. Verbena's 16% fall and Lemongrass and Lime's 11.9% are real but ordinary. Everything below them is rounding: on Citrus Lemon the entire step from 100 g to a kilo is 17 paise a gram, which on a 200 g candle is ₹2.69.

Three kilos cost a rupee more than two halves
On Bergamot Amber, Juicy Orange and Tangerine the listed 1 kg price is exactly ₹1 above two 500 g packs — ₹5,437 against ₹5,436, ₹7,499 against ₹7,498, ₹11,999 against ₹11,998. Nobody should reorganise a purchase order over one rupee. What that rupee tells you is more useful than the rupee itself: the ladder on these three listings is genuinely flat, so the pack size is an operational choice — how long an open bottle sits, bench space, how much money you want in one container — and not a pricing one.

Three citrus oils to buy in volume

Three picks chosen on wholesale criteria rather than on scent: the cheapest gram in the family, the one listing with a genuine price break, and the cheapest citrus that states a woody anchor underneath the brightness. Each table shows every listed pack, its price per 100 g and how many 150 g candles at 8% — 12 g of oil each — the pack pours, because 150 g is the format most Indian citrus candles sell in.

The volume workhorse of the family and the cheapest fragrance kilo CSI lists in any family: ₹2,832 for 1 kg, ₹2.83 a gram, ₹45.31 of oil in a 200 g candle at 8%. For a production buyer the page is unusually complete: it states "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours", "6-8% for paraffin wax", "10-15% for wax melts" and "Vanillin content Approximately 0% - safe for white and light-coloured wax". Its ladder is almost flat from 100 g upward — ₹3, ₹2.84, ₹2.83 — so there is no pricing reason to over-commit before a scent has sold. Citronella Fragrance Oil
The only listing in the citrus range where the pack you choose changes your cost base rather than your convenience. The 100 gm pack works out at ₹7.67 a gram and the 500 gm pack at ₹2.95 — the same oil, the same page, a 61.5% fall. At the 500 gm and 1 kg rates it is the second-cheapest citrus gram in stock. The page states a pyramid of "Top: Lemon, Lemongrass- Middle: Citronella, Green Herb- Base: Wood", publishes a measured "Flash Point: 270°F", "Vanillin Content: 0%" and "Phthalate-Free: Yes", and states no candle load — so pour inside your wax page's band. Commercially it is the outdoor, balcony and monsoon scent, and its page's remark about the aroma's insect-repellent reputation is a statement about the aroma, not a claim we make for a finished candle.

Lemongrass and Lime
The cheapest citrus in stock whose page names a woody floor under the brightness: a stated base of "Subtle cedarwood, soft musk - clean, grounded, well-balanced finish" beneath "Zesty lime, fresh lemongrass" and a heart of "Light ginger, herbal undertones". Its stated load is "6-10% of total wax weight for candles" — note the basis, which is wax weight rather than finished candle, so convert before scaling. At volume its ladder is exactly flat between 500 gm and 1000 gm at ₹5.20 a gram, which makes the pack choice purely operational: two 500 gm bottles and one 1000 gm bottle cost the same ₹5,200. Costing a four-scent citrus line

Most brands do not buy one citrus oil; they buy a summer range. Here is what four covers the whole commercial spread — a plain lemon, a documented lemon, an outdoor herbal and a single-note herbal lemon — costs at each wholesale tier, with what it pours. This is the arithmetic that decides whether you launch four scents or two.

A four-scent citrus line at each pack tier · CSI live pricing, September 2026
What the same range costs at 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg — and how many candles it makes
Tier Citrus Lemon Zesty Lemon Citronella Verbena Line total 200 g candles at 8%
100 g each (400 g) ₹300 ₹360 ₹767 ₹590 ₹2,017 25
500 g each (2 kg) ₹1,420 ₹1,720 ₹1,475 ₹2,478 ₹7,093 125
1 kg each (4 kg) ₹2,832 ₹3,400 ₹2,891 ₹4,720 ₹13,843 250

Notice what the tiers actually buy. The 100 g tier is ₹2,017 for 25 candles — about six of each scent, which is a market stall or a first wholesale sample box, and a per-candle fragrance cost of ₹80.68. The 500 g tier is ₹7,093 for 125 candles, or ₹56.74 of fragrance a candle, and it is the tier that actually rewards you, mostly because of Citronella's step. The kilo tier is ₹13,843 for 250 candles, ₹55.37 a candle — only ₹1.37 better than the 500 g tier, for twice the money committed. On a four-scent citrus line, moving from 500 g to 1 kg saves ₹343 across 250 candles and ties up ₹6,750 more. That is a cash-flow decision, not a pricing one.

Buying the kilo tier to "save money" on a range you have not sold through. The 500 g-to-1 kg step on this four-scent line is worth ₹1.37 a candle. A single scent that does not sell is worth minus ₹2,832 to minus ₹4,720. The order of operations that works is: prove each scent on a cured burn test, launch at the 500 g tier, watch which two of the four reorder, and then buy kilos of those two only. A four-scent range where two scents move and two sit is a very common outcome, and it costs between ₹5,723 and ₹8,120 in kilos of the wrong two.
Citrus sells hardest through the Indian summer and again as the fresh counterpoint in a festive range — and with Diwali on 8 November 2026, a kilo ordered now can still be poured, cured the full two to three weeks and packed without rushing. Bulk pricing, current stock on 500 g and 1 kg packs, GST invoicing and SDS or IFRA documentation are handled on WhatsApp.

Buying citrus by the kilo without getting burned

Citrus is the cheapest family to buy in bulk, which is exactly why it is the family most often bought in bulk too early.

Every wholesale citrus buyer eventually meets the same complaint: the candle smelled enormous in the jar and quieter in the room a fortnight later. That is a property of the family rather than a fault in a bottle — citrus character lives in the lightest, most volatile part of a composition, which is precisely what makes it read as citrus — and the mechanism, along with what cure, wick size and a stated base note can and cannot do about it, is set out in why citrus fragrances fade in candles and in best citrus fragrance oils for candle making in India. This page is not going to repeat that argument, and it is not going to promise you a result either: nobody can tell you in advance how a given oil will behave in your wax, your jar diameter and your room.

What a wholesale page can do is turn it into a purchasing rule. A kilo is 62 × 200 g candles, or 83 × 150 g. If a citrus scent reads flat three weeks after pouring, that is not one disappointing candle — it is a season of stock, a printed label and a photographed listing. So the qualification below happens before the kilo, not after, and it costs a fraction of one.

1
Qualify on the smallest pack that pours a real candleTen of the twelve citrus listings have a 15 gm size, from ₹81.42 for Citrus Lemon to ₹199 for Tangerine, and 15 g at 8% pours one 187 g candle. That is enough to answer "do I like it" but not "does it survive". For that, buy the 100 g — ₹300 for Citrus Lemon, ₹360 for Zesty Lemon — which pours eight 150 g jars.
2
Pour three identical jars and open them on different daysOne oil, one wax, one wick, one load, three 150 g jars: 36 g of oil and 414 g of wax. Burn the first at day 3, the second at day 10 and the third at day 21, each for two hours in the same closed room. Write down what you smell from the doorway before you walk in. This is the single test that tells you what a customer will experience in week three.
3
Check the melt pool in the same sittingFragrance leaves a candle from the surface of the pool, so a wick that never reaches the glass will make any citrus read faint. Note minutes to a full pool for each jar. If none of the three reaches the glass within two to three hours, the wick is the variable to change — Eco Candle Wicks are ₹5.90 each in tens for Thin (C1) and ₹9.44 each in twenties for Thick (C2) — and the oil has not yet been tested at all.
4
Read what the page states about the base before you commitSome citrus listings publish a named woody or musky base — Lemongrass and Lime's "Subtle cedarwood, soft musk", Orange no.3's "Amber, Cedar, White Musk" — and some publish a base that is another citrus note. Neither is better in the abstract; what matters is that you know which you bought before you buy 62 candles of it. Blending your own anchor is a test you run, not a recipe we publish.
5
Buy 500 g first, and the kilo only on a reorderThe 500 g tier is 31 × 200 g candles and, on this family, it is within pennies of the kilo rate anyway. Move to a kilo when the same scent has been reordered once by real customers — not when the spreadsheet says the per-gram rate improves by ₹0.01. On a four-scent line that discipline is worth ₹6,750 of unspent working capital.
The CSI principle
In citrus, the cheap kilo is the trap. Not because it is bad value — because it is such good value that people buy it before the scent has earned it.
₹2,832 for sixty-two candles reads like a bargain on a spreadsheet and like a warehouse in a spare room by December. The 500 g pack costs ₹1,420 and answers the same question.

Ordering above one kilo

Said plainly: 1 kg is the largest fragrance oil pack CSI lists, on every citrus oil and on every other oil in the range. There is no 5 kg bottle and no 10 kg drum. A requirement of 4 kg a month is four 1 kg bottles at the listed rate; 8 kg is eight. The listed per-kilo price is the ceiling for that quantity rather than a rate that automatically improves with the number — and we will not print what a quote will say, because it depends on your volume, your scent mix and your schedule. What CSI does publish is that bulk pricing, GST invoicing and MSDS or IFRA documentation are handled directly on WhatsApp.

1,000 16 kg 16 × 1 kg — worth a WhatsApp quote ₹45,312 ₹1,91,984

A note on that table's honesty: those figures are the listed price multiplied out, not a bulk quotation. They are the number you would pay ordering through the website today, and they are therefore the ceiling for the same quantity through the bulk line. When you message, send quantities per scent, the pack sizes you want, whether you need a GST invoice and whether you need the SDS — a message with numbers in it can be answered; "best price for bulk citrus" cannot. The same logic for the fresh family is in fresh candle fragrance oils wholesale in India.

The kilo is not a reward for deciding. It is the receipt for having already decided correctly.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies candle-making raw materials; it does not manufacture fragrance oil and does not sell finished candles. The commercially convenient version of this page would push eleven kilos and call it a citrus range. Instead it works out that moving a four-scent line from 500 g to 1 kg saves ₹1.37 a candle and ties up ₹6,750 more, that the only material price break in the family is one rung lower than the kilo, and that citrus in particular should be qualified on a 21-day cured jar before a kilo is ordered. A maker who scales a scent that sells keeps ordering.

Every price, pack and stock position comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, which is always authoritative. Every stated load, cure time, note, flash point and colour statement is quoted verbatim from that product's own page, and where a page states nothing this guide says so rather than filling the gap: no flash point has been estimated or borrowed from a similar scent. Sold-out packs are shown and marked, because a price you cannot buy is not your cost. Stated loads are formulation percentages, not regulatory limits, and the lower of the oil page's figure and your wax page's figure is the one to pour.

Frequently asked questions

What is the wholesale price of citrus fragrance oil in India?
At CSI in September 2026 the in-stock 1 kg packs are Citrus Lemon ₹2,832, Citronella ₹2,891, Zesty Lemon ₹3,400, Verbena ₹4,720, Lemongrass and Lime ₹5,200, Bergamot Amber ₹5,437, Neroli ₹6,655.20, Juicy Orange ₹7,499, Neroli Signature Grade ₹7,599, Orange no.3 ₹8,032 and Tangerine ₹11,999. Grapefruit Oleo lists a kilo at ₹3,407 but it is sold out. That is ₹2.83 to ₹12 a gram, or ₹45.31 to ₹191.98 of oil inside a 200 g candle at 8%.
How much citrus oil do I need for 100 candles?
At the series convention a 200 g candle at 8% takes 16 g of oil, so a hundred need 1.6 kg — two 1 kg bottles, or three 500 g packs and a 100 g. At 10% it is 2 kg. For 150 g candles it is 12 g each, or 1.2 kg per hundred; for 120 g candles, 9.6 g each. In fragrance alone that hundred costs ₹4,531.20 in Citrus Lemon and ₹19,198.40 in Tangerine, before wax, wick, jar and label.
Is it cheaper to buy 1 kg of citrus oil than 500 g?
Only just, and on three listings it is a rupee dearer. Verbena's kilo saves ₹236 against two 500 g packs and Neroli Signature Grade's saves ₹199; Citronella saves ₹59, Zesty Lemon ₹40 and Citrus Lemon ₹8; Lemongrass and Lime and Neroli are identical; and on Bergamot Amber, Juicy Orange and Tangerine two 500 g packs are ₹1 cheaper than the kilo. The real saving is one rung lower — Citronella falls 61.5% per gram from its 100 gm pack to its 500 gm pack.
Does CSI sell citrus fragrance oil in 5 kg or 10 kg packs?
No. One kilogram is the largest fragrance pack listed, on every citrus oil and every other oil in the range. A larger requirement is met with multiple 1 kg bottles at the listed rate — 4 kg is four bottles, 16 kg is sixteen — and the listed per-kilo price is the ceiling for that quantity, not a discount you can assume. For recurring or factory-scale volumes, bulk pricing, GST invoicing and documentation are handled on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.
Which citrus fragrance oil is best to buy in bulk?
On published evidence, Citrus Lemon at ₹2,832 a kilo: the cheapest gram in the family with the most complete page — "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours", "6-8% for paraffin wax" and "Vanillin content Approximately 0% - safe for white and light-coloured wax". Citronella at ₹2,891 is the second-cheapest gram and the only listing with a real price break. Lemongrass and Lime at ₹5,200 is the cheapest citrus that states a woody base. All three still need a 21-day cured burn test in your own wax before the kilo.
Should I worry about citrus fading before I order a kilo?
You should test for it, not worry about it. Citrus character sits in the lightest part of a composition, so perceived strength changes more across a cure and across a burn than it does with a woody scent — that is a property of the family, not a fault. Work through cure first, then wick, then load, and pour three identical jars from a 100 g pack, burning them at day 3, day 10 and day 21 before committing to 62 candles' worth of oil. No supplier, including us, can promise how an oil will behave in your wax and your room.
