Quick answers — read this first
How do the four settings interact? Load sets the work the other three have to do. A higher load needs the upper end of the add band and the full stir, is less forgiving of a hot pour, and wants a longer cure before you judge it.

Which figure wins when two sources disagree? Four rules: load = the lower of the wax's and the oil's ceilings; add temperature = the wax's band, pulled down by any instruction on the oil page; pour = the wax's band, capped by the vessel; cure = the longest figure stated.

What if the page is blank? Ten of CSI's 15 wax pages state none of the four. That is not permission to borrow a soy figure quietly — it is a cue to pick a number, write it on the card as yours, and test it.

What does one setting cost when it moves? One load point across 100 × 200 g candles is 200 g of oil — ₹948.72 of Apple Cinnamon. Cure costs nothing and moves more.
The short answer
Set them in order, not in parallel. Load first, because it is the constraint; then add temperature, because dissolution has to succeed; then pour, because that is where the surface is decided; then cure, because that is when you are allowed to have an opinion.
Only one CSI wax page states all four. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks publish 8–13% with 10% recommended, add at 80–90°C, pour at 70–80°C, and a cure of minimum 48 hours, ideally 1–2 weeks. Everything else is partial.
A blank is a decision, not a default. Write your own figure on the card, mark it as yours, and prove it with a burn test — see why every combination needs testing.

Straight answer
How do fragrance load, mixing temperature, pour temperature and cure time work together?
As a chain with one constraint at the front. Load is the constraint: it is capped by the wax, and every gram you add makes the other three settings work harder. Add temperature exists to dissolve that load — which is why a batch at 13% is less forgiving of a cool addition than the same wax at 8%. Pour temperature decides the surface and the vessel's safety, and it starts from wherever your addition left the melt. Cure decides when your opinion counts, and a heavier load generally wants the longer end of it. Set them in that order and you have a process; set them independently and you have four habits that drift. The figures themselves come from three different places, so the rules are simple: take the lower of the wax's and the oil's load ceilings, take the add temperature from the wax unless the oil page states its own instruction, take the pour from the wax and cap it at the vessel's stated limit, and take the longest cure anybody states. On Luxury Soy Wax Chunks all four are published — 8–13% with 10% recommended, add 80–90°C, pour 70–80°C, cure minimum 48 hours and ideally 1–2 weeks — and that is the only page in the range where you can build a card without making a decision of your own. CSI 464 states a 10% ceiling and an 80–90°C pour but no add temperature; CSI 468 states 13% and a 58–60°C pour; Eco Soy CSI 400 states 85°C and a two-minute stir and nothing else. Ten of the fifteen wax pages state none of the four, and the honest move there is to write your own number on the card and burn-test it, not to borrow a soy figure and forget where it came from.
One line: load is the constraint, add temperature is dissolution, pour is the surface, cure is permission to judge — and every blank on a page is a number you own.
Two of the four settings are temperatures, which makes a Pen Thermometer at ₹354 the cheapest process improvement on this page. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks from ₹299 for 500 g is the wax whose page states all four figures, which makes it the easiest place to start a card.

Ten cells out of sixty

Before you can run a process you have to know how much of it somebody else has written down for you. The answer is: a sixth of it.

Fifteen waxes are listed in the CSI wax collection; four settings matter for a fragranced container candle. That is a grid of 60 cells, and across all fifteen pages 10 are filled. That is not a complaint about the pages — it is the most useful fact in planning, because it says exactly where your own judgement is load-bearing.

Read that bottom row carefully, because it is where a lot of Indian makers actually buy. Natural Soy Pearl Wax is stocked from 1 kg to 50 kg and states none of the four. Semi Refined Paraffin states a melting point of 80–90°C and an oil content of 6–10% but no load, no add temperature and no cure. Pour those waxes and your process card is entirely your own work — fine, provided you know it and write it down instead of half-remembering a figure from a soy page.

The mistake: treating a melting point as a pour temperature. They are different numbers with different jobs, and two CSI pages make the confusion easy. Semi Refined Paraffin states "Melting Point: 80–90°C" and nothing about pouring; CSI 464 states the same figure for both its melting point and its pour temperature, which is unusual for a soy wax and worth confirming with us before you build a card on it. A melting point tells you when the wax is liquid. A pour temperature is a choice about crystallisation and surface. Never copy one into the other's box — ask instead.

Every figure in the first four rows is a verbatim quote from that wax's own page; the last two rows are arithmetic on a 200 g candle, shown so you can check it. Where a page is silent the card says so, and says what you have to decide.

Two things fall out of those columns. CSI 468 is a different machine: with a stated melting point of 50–53°C and a pour of 58–60°C its whole process runs some twenty degrees cooler than a soy page's band, so a soy add temperature copied onto it is not a conservative choice but an invented one. And the Chunks card is the only one you can run without deciding anything — which is why it is the wax to learn the system on.

A card is four numbers, a date and your initials
Write it once per wax-and-oil pairing and tape it inside the cupboard door: wax and pack size, oil and pack size, load as a percentage and in grams per jar, add temperature as a target and as the reading you hit, stir time, pour reading, jar and wick, pour date, cure days, who poured it. Mark every cell that came from a page with a quotation mark and every cell you chose with your initials. Six months on, that distinction is the difference between a process you can defend to a stockist and a memory of a good batch. The recording sheet that validates it is in why every combination needs a burn test.

How each setting pulls on the others

This is what makes it a system rather than a checklist. Each row is a setting you move; each cell is what that move does to the other three. Nothing here is a claim about a product — it is the mechanism.

The asymmetry worth memorising: load and add temperature push forward onto everything downstream. Cure pushes on nothing — it only changes what you are able to see. That is why it is the cheapest setting and the one most often cut.

The commonest failure here is a load-and-temperature mismatch: a maker goes from 8% to 13% because a page allows it, keeps adding at 80°C out of habit, pours on the same schedule and judges on day three. Three settings needed to move and none did. The batch then shows up as separation, a surface film or sweating in the first warm week — diagnosis in separation, oil on top and sweating.

Four rules when two sources disagree

Most process confusion is not ignorance. It is two correct figures from two different pages, and no rule for choosing between them.

A wax page, an oil page and a jar page all speak to the same batch and they do not coordinate. Apple Cinnamon states "6-10% for soy wax candles, cure 48-72 hours"; Chunks states 8–13% and "a minimum of 48 hours (ideally 1-2 weeks)"; seven jar pages state "Safe for hot-pour up to 85°C". Four lines resolve all of it.

The cure rule surprises people because two stated figures are shorter than the convention. Both are honest: a 48-hour minimum is about when a candle is safe and sensible to burn, while a fortnight is about when it is representative of what your customer will experience. Those are different questions — burning at 24 hours covers the first and testing after cure the second.

"I used the oil's 13% because my wax allows 13%." Two ceilings do not add up and they do not average. If the oil page says 6–10% you are at 10%, whatever the wax can hold, because the oil's figure is the one describing that particular blend's behaviour. Going to 13% on an oil rated to 10% is how a jar ends up with 6 g of surplus oil per 200 g candle — 26 g against 20 g — and surplus oil does not throw, it migrates. If you want the extra load, buy an oil whose page states it.

Setting a card in six steps

One pass, in this order, for a new wax-and-oil pairing. Ten minutes at a desk, and it saves the fortnight you would otherwise spend finding out you had guessed.

Copy both ceilings onto the card, in quotation marksThe wax's stated load and the oil's stated candle load, exactly as written. Then take the lower. On Chunks with Apple Cinnamon that is 10%: 20 g of oil and 180 g of wax in a 200 g candle. Write the grams, not only the percentage — grams are what your scale understands.

Fix the add temperature and the stir time togetherThey are one instruction, not two. The Chunks page gives "80-90°C" and "stir slowly for 2 full minutes"; Eco Soy CSI 400 gives "85°C (185°F), stir gently for 2 minutes". If your wax page is blank here, say so on the card and put your own figure next to your initials — do not leave the cell empty, because an empty cell gets filled differently every batch.

Fix the pour reading, then check the jarTake the wax's band and pick one number inside it — 75°C on Chunks. Then look at the vessel: if the jar page states a hot-pour limit, the lower figure wins. This is the only step where a third product gets a veto, and glass is not negotiable.

Write the cure date on the jar, not in your headPour date plus 14 days, on a sticker, on the base. The Chunks page's "minimum of 48 hours (ideally 1-2 weeks)" is the floor; the series convention of 14–21 days is the judging date. A jar with a date on it is very hard to open early by accident.

The CSI principle
A process is four numbers you can point at. Anything less is a habit, and habits change without telling you.
Quote what the page states, initial what you chose, and date what you poured. The card costs a sheet of paper and is the only thing standing between one good batch and a hundred repeatable ones.

What each setting costs when it moves

Three of the four settings are free to change and one is not. Rupees against each is what stops a process discussion becoming a taste discussion. The basis is 100 × 200 g candles at 10%: 18 kg of wax and 2 kg of oil, priced from listed packs — and since the largest listed pack is 10 kg, the wax column shows the real basket.

Now set that against the two free settings. Moving from a two-day judgement to a fourteen-day judgement costs nothing. Hitting your add temperature on purpose costs ₹354 once. Whereas a whole batch of a hundred candles in Chunks and Apple Cinnamon at 10% carries ₹20,278.20 of wax and oil — ₹202.78 a candle before jar, wick, lid or label. The settings that cost nothing are the ones that decide whether that ₹20,278.20 is a product or a lesson.

The card that proves the system matters, because copying soy figures onto it would be wrong in both temperature cells. The page states "Fragrance Load Up to 13%", "Melting Point 50°C – 53°C", "Pour Temperature 58°C – 60°C" and "Suitable for single-pour container applications" — so its pour sits ten to twelve degrees below the bottom of the soy pour band, and its add temperature is not published at all. At 13% a 200 g candle carries 26 g of oil, the joint highest ceiling in the range, which is precisely the situation where the add temperature you choose deserves a burn test rather than a habit. Why trust this guide

In what order should I set fragrance load, temperature and cure?
Load, add temperature, pour temperature, cure. Load is the constraint the other three serve, so it goes first — and it is the lower of the wax's ceiling and the oil's stated candle figure. Add temperature exists to dissolve that load. Pour temperature decides the surface and must respect the vessel. Cure decides when your verdict is worth anything. Setting them in this order means each choice is made with the information it actually needs.
Does a higher fragrance load need a higher add temperature?
It needs the upper end of the band your wax states, and the full stir time — not a figure above the band. A load near the ceiling asks more of the wax as a solvent, so margin for a cool addition shrinks. On Luxury Soy Wax Chunks that means working towards 90°C rather than 80°C at 13%, stirring the stated two minutes, and confirming the melt has gone clear before you pour.
My wax page and my fragrance oil page give different maximum loads. Which do I use?
The lower one, always. The wax's figure describes what that wax can hold; the oil's figure describes how that blend is meant to be used. Neither licenses the other. Apple Cinnamon states "6-10% for soy wax candles" and the Chunks page allows up to 13% — so you are at 10%, or 20 g in a 200 g candle. Pouring 26 g because the wax permits it leaves 6 g of surplus per jar, and surplus oil migrates instead of throwing.
What pour temperature should I use if the page doesn't state one?
Choose one, write it on the card as your own figure, and test it. Do not import a number from another wax: CSI 468 states a pour of 58–60°C against soy's 70–80°C, so "standard soy practice" would be a 20-degree error. Also check the vessel — seven CSI jar pages state "Safe for hot-pour up to 85°C", and where the jar's limit is lower than the wax's band, the jar wins.
How long should I cure before judging a new card?
Take the longest figure in play and never judge before it. The Chunks page states "a minimum of 48 hours (ideally 1-2 weeks)", several oil pages state 48–72 hours for soy, and this series uses 14–21 days for soy containers because that is when a candle resembles what a customer will burn. The short figures answer "is it ready to light"; the fortnight answers "is it ready to sell". Date the base of the jar so the decision is not yours to make on a busy afternoon.
Can I change two settings at once to save time?
You can, and you will lose the information. Two changes and one result tell you nothing about which change did what, which means the next batch is another guess. One variable, three jars, one fortnight. The exception is a genuinely new pairing, where every setting is new at once — in that case treat the whole card as unproven and validate it with a full burn test rather than assuming any cell is safe because it came from a page.

Four numbers, quoted where a page gives them and initialled where you chose them. That is the whole system.
