A ₹1,00,000.00 start priced pack by pack from live CSI stock, split honestly into equipment you buy once and stock you buy again next month.
₹85,991.42
spent at CSI out of ₹1,00,000.00 · ₹30,371.82 of it one-time equipment · 315 candles a month · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What does ₹1,00,000.00 buy? ₹85,991.42 of CSI stock — ₹30,371.82 of equipment bought once and ₹55,619.60 of materials — plus ₹14,008.58 held back for labels, packaging, courier and labour, which CSI does not sell.

How many candles a month? 315: 180 everyday 150 g jars, 45 gifting jars and 90 70 g votives, across five scents, at ₹152.23, ₹242.88 and ₹93.66 of CSI materials each.

How long does the stock last? About a month. Wax 1.1 months, fragrance 1.2, vessels 1.1 — only the cheap consumables stretch to three. See stock cover.

Do I get a better rate at this size? Not on wax, jars or cotton wicks — those rates are flat. Only fragrance and wooden wicks improve with pack size, the latter by 30% between the 10-pack and the 100-pack.
The short answer
The split: ₹30,371.82 of equipment you buy once — led by the imported 10 kg Electric Wax Melter at ₹21,240.00 — and ₹55,619.60 of materials you buy again next month.
The output: 315 candles a month in three formats and five scents, ₹46,760.90 of materials, with 4,950 g of wax and 796 g of oil carried forward.
The honest part: This is roughly one month of cover, not a quarter, and nothing here is cheaper per unit for being bought big. ₹14,008.58 stays unspent for the costs CSI does not sell.

What it shows: how many months each line of a ₹1,00,000.00 basket covers at 315 candles a month, measured against a one-month marker — the expensive lines run out first and the cheap consumables last for a quarter. Deliberately left out: equipment, which is bought once, and labels, cartons, courier, electricity and labour, which CSI does not sell and this page never estimates.
Straight answer
What can you actually start a candle business with for ₹1,00,000.00 in India?
A three-format, five-scent line pouring 315 candles a month, with a production kit you buy once. At live September 2026 prices the CSI side is ₹85,991.42, and the important split is inside it: ₹30,371.82 of equipment — the imported 10 kg Electric Wax Melter at ₹21,240.00, a four-nozzle pouring funnel at ₹1,888.00, two pitchers, two thermometers, a 25-wick holder and finishing supplies — against ₹55,619.60 of materials: 45 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40/kg, 4 kg of fragrance with British Rose, Citrus Lemon and Roasted Coffee bought at 1 kg and Lavender and Woody Oud at 500 gm, 350 vessels across clear and amber salsa jars and 70 g votives, and 500 wicks including 50 wooden wicks for the gifting line. Candles cost ₹152.23, ₹242.88 and ₹93.66 of CSI materials at an 8% load. Two honest caveats: that stock is about one month of cover, not a quarter, and almost nothing on this catalogue is cheaper per unit for being bought big — wax, jars and cotton wicks are flat-rated, and only fragrance and wooden wicks improve with pack size. ₹14,008.58 stays deliberately unspent for labels, cartons, courier, electricity and your own hours, which CSI does not sell and this page will not invent.
One line: ₹1,00,000.00 buys ₹30,371.82 of equipment once and ₹55,619.60 of stock — 315 candles and about one month of cover — with ₹14,008.58 held back for the costs no supplier can quote.
The basket in one line. 45 kg of Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, 4 kg of fragrance across five scents, 350 vessels in three formats, 500 wicks and a twelve-item production kit built around the imported 10 kg Electric Wax Melter comes to ₹85,991.42 — 86.0% of ₹1,00,000.00, leaving ₹14,008.58 for the costs CSI does not sell.

What ₹1,00,000.00 actually buys — and what it does not

A lakh does not buy a year of stock. It buys about a month of production, and the machines to repeat it.

This is the level where a candle business stops being a hobby with an Instagram account and starts being a small factory. The money splits into two very different things: ₹30,371.82 of equipment you buy once, and ₹55,619.60 of materials you will buy again next month. Understanding that split is the whole point of this page, because the second number is your real monthly cost and the first one is not.

Equipment is itemised below.

This basket pours 315 candles a month across three formats and five scents, using 40,050 g of wax and 3,204 g of fragrance. Month two costs ₹46,760.90 of materials, not ₹85,991.42, and in practice less, because roughly 4,950 g of wax and 796 g of oil carry forward. A lakh is therefore not "a lakh a month". It is one equipment purchase plus roughly one month of stock, with a sensible cushion on the lines that are cheap to hold.

The CSI principle
At a lakh, the money stops being a budget and starts being inventory.
₹55,619.60 of materials is 315 candles you have paid for and must now sell — before a single label, carton or courier docket is bought.

The basket, line by line

Whole packs, whole numbers. If the arithmetic does not come to the total, the plan is wrong somewhere.

Priced above: twelve live CSI items. A Wick Centering Device at ₹118.00 and a 1 litre Mini Electric Wax Melter at ₹2,360.00 are worth adding if you already own neither; colour is optional and starts at ₹472.00 for 50 gm of Candle Dye Liquid or ₹529.82 for 50 gm of Gold Mica.

The one line worth arguing about: ₹21,240.00 on a melter

It is a fifth of the budget and it does not change a single candle.

The imported 10 kg Electric Wax Melter at ₹21,240.00 is 21.2% of a lakh — by far the largest single line in this basket, larger than the entire vessel budget. It produces exactly the same candle as a steel pot in a pan of water. What it buys is hours and consistency: a full batch held at temperature while you wick, pour, label and clean, instead of a 1 litre pot that empties four times a session.

CSI cannot tell you what an hour of your time is worth, and this page will not invent a figure for it. What it can tell you is the shape of the decision. Nine 1 litre Mini Electric Wax Melters come to exactly the same ₹21,240.00, and give you nine small pots to watch instead of one large one. The ₹25,960.00 20 kg version exists for the level above this one. Spread over a year at 315 candles a month, the 10 kg melter costs ₹5.62 a candle; charged entirely to the first month, it costs ₹96.42 a candle alongside the rest of the kit.

THE TEST FOR BUYING THE BIG MELTER
Ask what stops you pouring more candles today. If the answer is "the wax is not melted yet", buy the melter. If the answer is "I have not sold the last batch", "my wick is not settled" or "I have nowhere to cure them", the ₹21,240.00 belongs in stock, packaging or a second cure shelf instead — and the same lakh then buys the materials for roughly 139 more everyday candles.
Buying the machine before the range is proven. A melter, a funnel and 25 wick holders make a production line. A production line pointed at a candle nobody has bought yet makes 315 unsold candles faster than before. At this budget the correct order is: prove two or three of the five scents at a smaller volume, then buy the equipment that removes the bottleneck you have actually hit (testing hot throw before launch).
Equating a lakh with a discount. Nothing in this basket is cheaper per unit because the order is large. CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg and at 10 kg. The 200 ml salsa jar is ₹29.50 each at 50 and at 100. Eco Candle Wicks are ₹5.90 and ₹9.44 each at every pack. Two lines genuinely do improve: Performance Wooden Wicks fall from ₹59.00 each at 10 to ₹47.20 at 50 and ₹41.30 at 100 — a 30% drop, or ₹17.70 a candle — and fragrance falls with pack size, ₹4.25 a candle between a 100 gm pack and a 1 kg pack of British Rose. Plan around those two, not around an imagined bulk rate. Bulk pricing exists and is handled on WhatsApp; it is not published, so it is not used anywhere on this page.
Festive timing. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November 2026. At 315 candles a month with a 14–21 day cure, a festive run has to be poured by about mid-October, which puts this order in late September or the first days of October. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 10 kg is ₹5,074.00; British Rose 1 kg is ₹3,068.00.

Stock cover: what this basket actually lasts

The cheap lines give you months. The expensive lines give you weeks. Only one of those facts is comforting.

"Stocked up" is a feeling, not a number. Here is the number, line by line, at 315 candles a month. The care stickers will outlast three months; the wax, the vessels and the wicks will not see the end of month two. That asymmetry is normal and it is why a big order still needs a reorder date in the diary.

Cover
Months of cover at 315 candles a month
Line Bought Used per month Cover Reorder when
Soy wax 45 kg 40.0 kg 1.1 months Below 10 kg — one pour week
Fragrance, all five 4,000 g 3,204 g 1.2 months Any single scent below 300 g
Clear salsa jars 200 180 1.1 months Below 60
Amber salsa jars 50 45 1.1 months Below 20
70 g votives 100 90 1.1 months Below 30
Cotton wicks, both sizes 450 270 1.7 months Below 100 of either size
Wooden wicks 50 45 1.1 months Below 20
Care stickers 1,000 315 3.2 months Below 400
Priced above: quantities from the basket table. Usage assumes a 150 g fill on both jar formats, a 70 g fill on the votive, an 8% fragrance load and a 10% spare allowance on vessels — the spare allowance is this page's assumption, not measured data, and it exists because glass arrives chipped and first pours get scrapped. A 5% wastage allowance on wax would consume a further 2,002 g a month.

What it shows: how long each line of a ₹1,00,000.00 basket lasts at 315 candles a month, against a one-month marker. Deliberately left out: equipment, which is a one-time purchase, and every cost CSI does not sell — labels, cartons, courier, electricity and labour — which have their own blank rows further down.

The honest reading of that chart: a lakh is about a month of production, not a quarter of it. If you want a genuine two-month buffer on the lines that matter, you need roughly another ₹55,619.60 of materials, which is a different budget and a different question. What this basket does give you is a full month with no gaps, a cushion on wax and fragrance, and the equipment to keep pouring afterwards.

Stock is not safety. Stock is money that has agreed to sit still until you sell it.

Three formats, five scents: the range a lakh supports

Three price points and five scents is a catalogue. Six formats and twelve scents is a warehouse.

The range here is deliberately narrow for the money: an everyday 150 g jar, a gifting 150 g jar in amber glass with a wooden wick, and a 70 g votive for gift sets and samplers. Three formats give you three price points and only two wick decisions to settle. Five scents give a customer a real choice without giving you five things to photograph, cure and store in every format.

The range

Loads are 8% of wax weight — 12 g in a 150 g candle, 5.6 g in a 70 g votive, inside the 10% maximum CSI 464's page states.

Look at the gifting row against the everyday row. Same wax, same fill, same stickers — and ₹90.65 more per candle, almost all of it in the amber glass at ₹62.00 against ₹29.50 and the wooden wick at ₹47.20 against ₹9.44. If you want a higher price point, that is where you buy it. Upgrading the wax grade instead would move the same candle by far less: Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 at ₹637.00/kg in the 10 kg pack adds ₹19.44 to a 150 g fill.

1
Week 1 · The everyday runMelt 15 kg across the week in the 10 kg melter, pour 90 clear jars in two sessions at 8% Citrus Lemon and Roasted Coffee. Two pitchers let you run both scents in one session; the 25-wick holder sets a full tray at once. Label the tray with the date — at this volume you will not remember which shelf is which.
2
Week 2 · Votives and the second everyday runPour the 90 votives at 5.6 g of oil each and the remaining 90 clear jars. Week one's trays are now at day 7: check tops and adhesion, but do not judge scent yet. Reorder anything already below its trigger — waiting until the shelf is empty costs you a pour week (why a candle needs a 14-day cure).
3
Week 3 · The gifting run, and judging week onePour 45 amber jars with Woody Oud and the wooden wicks. Wooden wicks behave differently from cotton: burn two of them before you pour 45. On the same afternoon, judge week one's candles for scent at day 14 and decide whether the load is right before the next month is committed (fragrance load without exceeding the ceiling).
4
Week 4 · Finish, pack and place the next orderWeek one's trays reach day 21 and ship. Fit care stickers, photograph the three formats, and place the reorder: two 10 kg wax packs, two 100-packs of clear jars, 50 amber jars, 100 votives, 200 Thick (C2) wicks, 50 wooden wicks and one 1 kg oil is ₹29,650.00 — roughly 29.6% of the original lakh, because the equipment is already paid for.

The rows CSI cannot price — and the ₹14,008.58 held back

At 315 candles a month, the costs a supplier cannot quote are no longer a rounding error.

CSI sells wax, fragrance, wicks, vessels, colour, finishing supplies and equipment. It does not sell printed labels, cartons, mailers, bubble wrap, ribbon, courier services, electricity, your hours, a studio, a website or advertising — so this page puts no number against any of them. At this volume that is not a small omission: 315 candles a month means 315 labels, 315 boxes and 315 parcels, every month, and those quotes will move your cost per candle far more than the choice between two soy grades.

Your own costs
Not sold by CSI, not priced here — one row per quote you need to get
Line Where the real number comes from Unit Your figure
Printed labels, front and base Quote at 500 and at 2,000; the rate usually falls hard between them per candle —
Gift box for the amber jar Rigid box maker, quoted on your exact jar dimensions per candle —
Outer carton and inner protection Weigh and measure one packed candle before asking per candle —
Votive gift-set packaging Sets of three or six change the box, not just the count per set —
Courier, per parcel A near pincode and a far one, separately per shipment —
Electricity for the melter Your own electricity reading across a month of pour weeks per month —
Your hours, or someone else's 315 candles is a job, not an evening per month —
Storage or studio space A cure shelf for 315 candles is a room, not a cupboard per month —
Photography and listings Three formats and five scents is a shoot per launch —
Marketplace, gateway or ad spend Each channel's own rate card % or per month —
Your own total Add to the CSI column before you set a single price up to ₹14,008.58

Total the page honestly: ₹85,991.42 of CSI materials and equipment, plus your own column. If your quotes exceed ₹14,008.58, the fix is to cut quantity, not quality — dropping the gifting line releases ₹7,725.60 and takes 45 candles out of the month. Do not fix it by pretending the rows are free; that is the single most common way a large first order turns into a pile of unlabelled candles.

Prices on the CSI store are inclusive of taxes, as stated on the Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page, and GST invoicing is available. What your own tax position looks like is a question for your accountant, not for a supplier's blog.

Where a lakh leaks

Nobody loses a lakh at once. They lose it in five-thousand-rupee decisions that all felt sensible.
Leaks
The five expensive mistakes at this budget, priced
The decision What it costs What to do instead
A sixth, seventh and eighth scent because the range looks thin ₹2,620.00 to ₹2,265.60 a pack, plus test jars and cure shelf space for each Three proven scents deep, two on trial. Add a scent when one sells out, not when the shelf looks bare
Buying 1 kg of a scent you have never sold ₹4,531.20 for Woody Oud against ₹2,265.60 at 500 gm Buy 1 kg only where you already pour it monthly. The rate saving is real and small; the dead stock is real and large
A second wax grade "to compare" ₹6,370.00 for 10 kg of a second grade Compare in six jars, not in ten kilograms. Two grades means two wick settings and two cure profiles
Equipment ahead of the bottleneck ₹21,240.00 on the melter, ₹1,888.00 on the funnel Buy the machine that removes the constraint you have actually hit this month
Filling the whole lakh at the supplier The ₹14,008.58 that should have been labels, boxes and courier Decide the holdback before the cart, and treat it as already spent
Priced above: Lavender 500 gm ₹2,620.00, 1 kg ₹5,221.00; Woody Oud 500 gm ₹2,265.60, 1 kg ₹4,531.20; Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 10 kg ₹6,370.00; Electric Wax Melter (Imported) 10 kgs ₹21,240.00; Wax Pouring Funnel ₹1,888.00.

Against illustrative selling prices of ₹550.00 for the everyday jar, ₹999.00 for the gifting jar and ₹250.00 for the votive — illustrative only, used to show the shape of the arithmetic and not a recommendation — a full month is ₹1,66,455.00 of revenue and ₹1,19,694.11 over CSI materials. Every one of the blank rows above comes out of that second figure before anything is profit. That is the sum that decides whether a lakh was a good idea, and it is the one sum on this page that only you can finish (the pricing calculator guide works it from the price end).

One last piece of honesty about scale. Nothing here gets cheaper because you spent a lakh: the rates in this basket are the published ones, and they are the same rates a much smaller buyer pays on most lines. If you are planning a genuinely larger run — more than the 10 kg wax packs and 1 kg oil packs the store lists — that is a WhatsApp conversation about bulk pricing, GST invoicing and MSDS or IFRA documentation on +91 7397976926, not a discount this page can publish (sourcing supplies for a business).

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials and equipment — not finished candles, and not the labels, cartons, courier, studio space or advertising a 315-candle month also needs. This page therefore argues against its own largest line: the ₹21,240.00 melter is 21.2% of the budget, it makes an identical candle to a pot in a water bath, and if your constraint is unsold stock rather than melting time, that money belongs in materials or packaging instead. We would rather sell you less and have the month work.

Every price is a live CSI variant price in September 2026, multiplied by whole packs and totalled in Python; per-kilogram, per-gram and per-unit rates are derived from those same pack prices. The 10% fragrance ceiling for CSI 464 and the 80–90°C fragrance-addition window are stated on CSI product pages. The 10% spare allowance on vessels, the 5% wastage allowance, the 8% working load, the 315-candle month, the 14–21 day cure and the illustrative selling prices of ₹550.00, ₹999.00 and ₹250.00 are assumptions or general practice, labelled as such throughout. Bulk rates, delivery times and minimum orders are not published and are not used in any calculation here.

For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, MSDS or IFRA documentation, or a second opinion on a large basket before you place it, message CSI on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 with your formats, monthly target and the scents you intend to run.

Frequently asked questions

Is ₹1,00,000.00 enough to start a candle business in India?
It is more than enough to start, and about right to start at production scale. The CSI side of this basket is ₹85,991.42 — ₹30,371.82 of equipment bought once and ₹55,619.60 of materials for roughly 315 candles — leaving ₹14,008.58 for labels, packaging, courier, electricity and your own hours, which CSI does not sell and this page does not estimate.
How many candles does ₹1,00,000.00 make?
About 315 a month on this basket: 180 everyday 150 g jars, 45 gifting 150 g jars and 90 70 g votives, using 40,050 g of wax and 3,204 g of fragrance at an 8% load. Materials for that month are ₹46,760.90; the rest of the materials budget is cushion that carries into month two.
How long does this much stock actually last?
About a month on the lines that matter: wax 1.1 months, fragrance 1.2, clear jars 1.1, wooden wicks 1.1. Only the cheap consumables stretch further — care stickers run 3.2 months. A lakh buys one clean month of production plus equipment, not a quarter of stock.
Is the ₹21,240.00 melter worth it?
Only if melting is what limits your output. The imported 10 kg Electric Wax Melter is 21.2% of the budget and produces an identical candle to a pot in a water bath. Spread over a year at 315 candles a month it is ₹5.62 a candle. If your constraint is unsold stock, an unsettled wick or nowhere to cure, the money belongs in stock or space instead.
Does buying in bulk lower my cost per candle?
On most of this catalogue, no. CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg and at 10 kg; the 200 ml salsa jar is ₹29.50 each at 50 and at 100; Eco Candle Wicks are ₹5.90 and ₹9.44 each at every pack size. Two lines do improve: Performance Wooden Wicks fall 30% between the 10-pack and the 100-pack, and fragrance falls with pack size — ₹4.25 a candle between 100 gm and 1 kg of British Rose.
How many scents should I launch with at this budget?
Five is the sensible ceiling, and only three of them deep. This basket buys British Rose, Citrus Lemon and Roasted Coffee at 1 kg and Lavender and Woody Oud at 500 gm. Every extra scent costs a pack, a test batch, cure shelf space and a photograph before it sells once — and at 315 candles a month, eight scents means about 40 candles of each.

About this guide: Written by the CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA team. The method applies to any supplier: separate the one-time equipment from the repeating materials bill, convert every line into months of cover at your real run rate, check whether the unit rate actually falls at the next pack up before you buy deeper, and keep the costs your supplier does not sell in a column of their own.
