Tealights · wedding order
CSI sells the cups and the wax but no dedicated tealight wick. Test two candidates, then order 110 pieces at about ₹18.48 each.
₹18.48
material cost per standard tealight at a 12 g example fill, before packaging
Quick answers — read this first
Does CSI sell tealight wicks? CSI lists no dedicated tealight wick. Test Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) and lengths cut from the Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs.

Which tealight cups does CSI sell? Tea Lights Aluminium empty cups, 100 for ₹649.00, and Big Tealights Empty, 100 for ₹1,180.00, whose title lists “~9 hours burn”.

Which wax should I use? CSI 464, a container soy for single pours. Unscented is the sensible default for dining tables.

How much wax for 100 tealights? Weigh your fill first. At an example 12 g and 110 pieces with 5% allowance, 1,386 g, so 1 kg plus 500 g.
The short answer
Honest gap: CSI lists no dedicated tealight wick; Eco C1 and the braided roll are candidates to burn-test.
Order: 110 standard cups, 1.5 kg CSI 464 and 120 Eco C1 wicks for ₹2,218.80.
Per piece: ₹18.48 per standard tealight or ₹30.39 per big tealight at example fills.

Every step uses your own measured figures, because CSI publishes no cup fill weight or tealight wick size.
Straight answer
I Want to Make 100 Tealights for a Wedding — What Wax, Wick and Tealight Cups Should I Buy?
Buy Tea Lights Aluminium empty cups (or Big Tealights Empty for longer burns), CSI 464 container soy, and two wick candidates to test, because CSI lists no dedicated tealight wick: Eco C1 and lengths cut from the Braided Wick Roll with 100 tabs. Weigh your own cup fill, burn three of each combination to the end, and choose the steadiest flame with a full pool. A test set costs ₹1,297.22. At an example 12 g fill, 110 standard tealights with Eco C1 need 1.5 kg of wax and cost ₹2,218.80, or ₹18.48 each before packaging. Keep dining tables unscented.
One line: CSI supplies the cups and wax for wedding tealights; the wick is yours to choose by burn test.
Tea Lights Aluminium (empty cups) come in packs of 10 to 500; 100 cost ₹649.00, or ₹6.49 each.

What CSI sells for tealights, and what it does not

A hundred tealights is a small order with one awkward gap: there is no wick made for the job on the CSI list.

Start with an honest inventory. CSI sells two empty tealight cups: Tea Lights Aluminium (empty cups) in packs of 10, 50, 100 and 500, and Big Tealights Empty, whose product title lists “~9 hours burn”, in packs of 10 and 100. It sells container soy waxes that suit a small filled cup. What it does not list is a dedicated tealight wick. So the wick for a wedding tealight is something you choose from CSI’s general wicks and prove in a burn test, not something you can pick off a chart.

The “~9 hours burn” on the big cup is the product title’s figure. It is not a promise for your tealight, because burn time depends on the wax, the wick and how full you pour. Treat it as a reason to test the big cup, not as a number to print on a wedding invitation.

The CSI parts list
Cups, wax and wick candidates for wedding tealights
Part CSI product Packs and prices Note
Standard cup Tea Lights Aluminium (empty cups) 10 ₹94.40, 50 ₹330.40, 100 ₹649.00 Weigh your own fill
Large cup Big Tealights Empty 10 ₹118.00, 100 ₹1,180.00 Title lists “~9 hours burn”
Wax Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 500 g ₹260.00, 1 kg ₹507.40 Container soy, single pour
Wick candidate 1 Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 20 ₹118.00, 100 ₹590.00 ₹5.90 each at every pack
Wick candidate 2 Braided Wick Roll with 100 wick tabs 61 m roll ₹706.82 Cut and tab your own lengths

Neither wick has a published dimension, burn rate or flame height, and CSI publishes no wick sizing chart. Eco C1 is the thinner of the two Eco Candle Wicks, which makes it the obvious first candidate for a small cup. The braided roll lets you cut a length that suits the cup height and fit one of the 100 tabs supplied. Both are candidates to test, nothing more.

A starting specification for 100 wedding tealights

Wedding tealights usually sit on dining and reception tables, close to food and to dozens of other candles. Unscented is the sensible default there, because a hundred scented flames in one hall can be overpowering and compete with the meal. If the couple wants a scent, keep it to a few tables and see the scented-tealight page in this series for that version.

Starting specification
Suggested starting points, to be confirmed by a burn test
Element Starting choice Why
Cup Standard aluminium cup, with the big cup as an alternative Cheapest per piece; the big cup if longer burns are needed
Wax CSI 464, unscented Container soy made for single pours; no oil to balance
Wick Eco C1 and a cut braided length, tested side by side No dedicated tealight wick is listed
Fragrance None for dining tables Avoids a hall full of competing scent
Dye None White tealights match most décor and keep the burn simple

CSI 464 is a forgiving starting wax; one reviewer called it “One of the best wax for container Candles. Easy to work with, especially if you are a beginner.” That suits a one-off wedding order made by someone who may not pour tealights every week.

The wick test that has to happen before the wedding

Burn testing a tealight is quick, which is the good news. A wick that is too small drowns in its own pool or leaves a ring of unmelted wax. One that is too large gives a tall, flickering flame and a cup that gets hot fast. You want a steady, modest flame and a pool that reaches the cup wall.

1
Weigh your fill.CSI does not publish the fill weight of either cup. Fill three of each to your working level and weigh them against an empty cup. This page uses 12 g for the standard cup and 25 g for the big cup as example figures only.
2
Pour test pieces.Pour six standard cups and six big cups, three of each with Eco C1 and three with a cut braided wick. Centre each wick and let the wax set level.
3
Cure.Unscented wax does not need a long fragrance cure, but let the cups rest at least 24 hours as a suggested minimum so the wax has fully set.
4
Burn each one to the end.On a heat-proof tray, away from draughts, never unattended. Note the start and end time, the flame height by eye and whether the pool reached the wall.
5
Compare and choose.Pick the wick that gives the steadiest flame with a full pool. If both fail in one cup size, try the other size before trying anything more exotic.
Flame drowns after an hour. The wick is too small for the cup. Try the braided length cut a little longer, or move to the other wick.
Tall, flickering flame and a very hot cup. Too much wick. Trim the braided length or go back to Eco C1. Aluminium cups get hot, so warn the venue to use holders.
Burn time far below what the couple expects. The fill or the cup is the limit, not the wax. The big cup holds more wax; test it before promising a time.

Write down the burn time you measured. If the venue asks how long the tealights last, quote your own figure from this test, not the product title.

Costing the test and the 100-piece order

Test-first purchase
Everything needed to choose the wick and cup
Item Pack Price
Standard aluminium cups 10 ₹94.40
Big Tealights Empty 10 ₹118.00
Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 20 ₹118.00
Braided Wick Roll with 100 tabs 61 m ₹706.82
CSI 464 flakes 500 g ₹260.00
Total ₹1,297.22

Working: 94.40 + 118.00 + 118.00 + 706.82 + 260.00 = ₹1,297.22. The roll is the dearest test item, but it carries 100 tabs and 61 metres, so if it wins, it also covers the wicks for the production run.

Now the order, assuming Eco C1 wins in the standard cup at the 12 g example fill. Make 110 to allow for spares and the odd faulty pour. Wax: 110 × 12 g = 1,320 g, plus a suggested 5% allowance, is 1,320 × 1.05 = 1,386 g, so one 1 kg pack and one 500 g pack. Cups: one 100-pack and one 10-pack. Wicks: one 100-pack and one 20-pack.

Production order
110 standard tealights with Eco C1, 12 g example fill
Item Packs Working Cost
CSI 464 flakes 1 kg + 500 g ₹507.40 + ₹260.00 ₹767.40
Standard aluminium cups 100 + 10 ₹649.00 + ₹94.40 ₹743.40
Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 100 + 20 ₹590.00 + ₹118.00 ₹708.00
Total 767.40 + 743.40 + 708.00 ₹2,218.80

Per tealight at the production prices: wax 12 g × (₹507.40 ÷ 1,000 g = ₹0.5074) = ₹6.09, cup ₹649.00 ÷ 100 = ₹6.49, wick ₹5.90, so ₹6.09 + ₹6.49 + ₹5.90 = ₹18.48. The big cup at an example 25 g fill comes to 25 × ₹0.5074 = ₹12.69 of wax, plus ₹1,180.00 ÷ 100 = ₹11.80 for the cup and ₹5.90 for the wick, so ₹30.39. Neither figure includes packaging, labour, transport to the venue or GST.

Ten of each cup, a 20-pack of Eco C1, the braided wick roll and 500 g of CSI 464, for ₹1,297.22. Allow time for every test piece to burn to the end before the order is due.

Buy this once validated

1.5 kg of CSI 464, 110 cups of the size that won, and wicks to match: Eco C1 in a 100-pack plus a 20-pack, or the braided roll you already have if it won. Pour two extra tealights from the production batch and burn one before the wedding, so you know the full batch behaves like the test.

Argue against interest
There is no tealight wick on our list, so do not buy one blind.
Spend ₹1,297.22 on a burn test rather than 100 wicks that might drown. If the braided roll wins, you need no extra wicks at all.
Quote the burn time you measured, never the one on a product title.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials and production equipment, not finished candles. This guide separates general candle-making practice from what CSI's own product pages state, says plainly where CSI publishes no figure (wick sizes, burn times, hardness), and labels every wick, load, test count or margin as a starting point for your own validation.

Prices are live CSI prices from October 2026; product pages are authoritative. Where a spec is not published — such as a wick size for your jar, a mould's cycle life or a wax's survival temperature — this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Frequently asked questions

what wick should i use for tealights
CSI lists no dedicated tealight wick and publishes no sizing chart. Burn-test Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) against lengths cut from the Braided Wick Roll with 100 tabs, and choose the steadiest flame with a full melt pool.
how much wax do i need for 100 tealights
Weigh your own cup fill first. At an example 12 g, 110 tealights with a 5% allowance need 1,386 g of wax, so a 1 kg and a 500 g pack of CSI 464.
what is the best wax for tealights
A container soy such as CSI 464 suits filled aluminium cups. Keep it unscented for dining tables, and burn-test the wick in your chosen cup before pouring the full wedding order.
how long do homemade tealights burn
It depends on your fill, wax and wick. The Big Tealights Empty title lists “~9 hours burn”, but measure your own by burning test pieces to the end, and quote that figure to the couple or the venue.
how much does it cost to make 100 tealights
At an example 12 g fill with CSI 464, standard aluminium cups and Eco C1 wicks, 110 tealights cost ₹2,218.80 in materials, about ₹18.48 each, before packaging, labour, transport and GST.
should wedding tealights be scented
Unscented is the sensible default for dining and reception tables, where many flames burn together near food. Keep any scented tealights to a few lounge or entrance tables, and test them separately.

Assumptions: Fragrance load is a percentage of total candle weight (200 g = 184 g wax + 16 g oil at 8%); CSI wax pages phrase their ceilings as a share of wax weight. Material cost per candle covers wax, oil, vessel, wick and dye only — it excludes packaging, labels, labour, shipping and GST. CSI publishes no wick sizing chart, burn times or wax survival temperatures, so every wick named is a candidate to test. Retail prices, budgets, margins and packaging costs are the reader's own figures. Test counts and loads are suggested starting points.
