Soy Wax × Indian Heat · Bulk Storage
Before 100 kg arrives, log the exact spots you will use through summer weeks, check damp, roof heat, stacking, odours and access, and let a sentinel bag spend the warm weeks there first. On CSI's listed packs the per-kilo price is flat beyond 5 kg, so if the room fails, tranches cost you nothing.
₹0.00
price saving per kilo from buying 100 kg at once instead of monthly 10 kg bags, CSI 468 or Natural Soy Pearl · CSI live pricing, re-checked 1 October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What storage conditions should I confirm? Seven: temperature at the storage spot, humidity and water, sun and roof heat, stacking, odours, space and access, and a release routine — each with readings, not impressions.

What does CSI say about storing soy wax? CSI's product pages state 60 months in cool, dry storage for CSI 464 and CSI 468. Nothing is published for Natural Soy Pearl, Chunks or the others.

Is 100 kg cheaper per kilo? Not on CSI's listed packs. CSI 468 is ₹637.00 a kilo at 5 kg and 10 kg; Natural Soy Pearl ₹424.80 at 5, 10 and 50 kg. Buying at once buys security, not a lower rate.

How do I test my storeroom? A sentinel bag in the warmest usable spot and a twin in the coolest, poured side by side after the warm weeks. Kit: ₹2,871.60. See the priced kit.
The short answer
Answer: Confirm temperature at the actual storage spot, humidity and water, sun and roof heat, stacking and compression, separation from odours, space and access, and a per-bag release routine — then run a sentinel-bag test before buying 100 kg.
Why: Shelf-life statements assume cool, dry storage. A summer storeroom often is not, and the first sign of trouble is a batch that behaves oddly months later.
Price: CSI's listed per-kilo price does not fall beyond 5 kg for CSI 468 or Natural Soy Pearl, so buying in tranches costs nothing extra. Cash versus unit cost.
Map the room before the 100 kg arrives Example storeroom in summer · L1–L5 are min/max loggers you read daily for two to four weeks before buying tin or concrete roof — hottest zone sunny window outside wall ✗ top shelf under roof ✗ bare floor ✓ inner rack, max 3 high pallet: air gap under the lowest bags L1 L2 L3 L4 L5 Odours: keep oils, solvents and cleaners in another room Buy 100 kg only if the rack position (L2) stays cool and dry through your logging weeks, and a sentinel bag held in the warmest usable spot still pours like its cool-room twin. Otherwise buy in tranches.
An example summer storeroom: the top shelf under a tin or concrete roof, the bare floor and the sunny window wall are the risky spots; an inner rack on a pallet, stacked no more than three bags high, is the safer one. Five min/max loggers (L1–L5) map the room for two to four weeks before you buy. Layout and stack limit are illustrative.
Straight answer
I want to store 100 kg of soy wax through an Indian summer — what storage conditions should I confirm before purchasing that quantity?
Confirm seven conditions with readings, then test the room with a sentinel bag — and know that the price will not punish you for buying less. The seven: temperature at the exact storage spot (log it daily for two to four warm weeks; roofs and outside walls run hottest), humidity and water (damp floors, wall condensation, leaks), sunlight and roof heat, stacking and compression (bottom bags under weight in warm weeks can pack into lumps — set a stack limit), separation from oils, solvents and cleaners, space for first-in-first-out access, and a release routine with one test candle per bag. CSI's product pages state 60 months in cool, dry storage for CSI 468 and CSI 464; no shelf life is published for Natural Soy Pearl or the others. Then hold one sealed bag in your warmest usable spot and its twin in your coolest, and pour both after the warm weeks. Finally, CSI's listed per-kilo price is flat beyond 5 kg — so if the room fails, buy in tranches at no extra cost. The sentinel kit costs ₹2,871.60.
One line: buy as much wax as your coolest shelf can hold, not as much as your budget allows.
100 kg of Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 is 10 × 10 kg for ₹63,700.00 (₹637.00 a kilo; CSI's product page states a 60-month shelf life in cool, dry storage). 100 kg of Natural Soy Pearl Wax is 10 × 10 kg or 2 × 50 kg for ₹42,480.00 (₹424.80 a kilo; no shelf life published; the 50 kg bag is listed in limited stock — confirm on WhatsApp). The sentinel-bag storage test before you buy costs ₹2,871.60.

Confirm seven things about the room — and one about the price — before 100 kg arrives

100 kg of wax is ten bags, several months of production and a sizeable cheque. It deserves a room that has been tested as carefully as the wax.

The question is the right one to ask before buying, not after. Storage problems with a large wax order rarely announce themselves: the bags look the same from outside, and the first sign is a batch that behaves oddly in July. So before committing to 100 kg through an Indian summer, confirm seven storage conditions — temperature at the actual storage spot, humidity and water, sunlight and roof heat, stacking and compression, separation from odours, floor space and access, and a release routine — and confirm them with readings, not impressions.

And confirm one more thing that is not about the room: whether buying 100 kg at once saves you anything. On CSI's listed packs, the per-kilo price of container soy wax does not fall beyond 5 kg — CSI 468 is ₹637.00 a kilo in 5 kg and 10 kg bags alike, and Natural Soy Pearl ₹424.80 in 5, 10 and 50 kg bags. So 100 kg at once buys stock security and fewer orders, not a lower rate. If the room cannot hold summer wax safely, buying in tranches costs you nothing in price.

What CSI publishes about storage is short. CSI's product page states a shelf life of 60 months in cool, dry storage for Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 and Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464. No shelf life or storage condition is published for Natural Soy Pearl Wax, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks or the other soy waxes. CSI publishes no ageing, heat-storage or lot-consistency data for any wax. Everything else here is general storage practice, labelled as such.

The CSI principle
The shelf-life statement describes the wax in a cool, dry room. Your job is to prove you have one — before the invoice, not after the first odd batch.
Log the room through summer weeks, test a sentinel bag, then decide between 100 kg at once and smaller tranches.

The seven storage conditions to confirm

Work through these in the room you will actually use. The "how to confirm" column is the evidence you collect; the right-hand column is what changes the purchase if the room fails.

Pre-purchase storage checklist · general practice · evidence comes from your own readings
What to confirm before buying 100 kg
Condition How to confirm it Pass looks like (example) If it fails
1 · Temperature at the storage spot Min/max loggers at shelf height in each candidate spot, read daily for 2–4 summer weeks Rack position clearly cooler than roof and wall spots, no sharp daily swings Move the spot, or buy in tranches
2 · Humidity and water Hygrometer beside the stock; check floor and walls after rain No damp floor or wall, no leaks, humidity not persistently high Racks, liners, sealed bags; or buy later
3 · Sunlight and roof heat Note where sun falls through the day; feel the roof sheet at noon Stock never in direct sun, not under the roof Shade, move lower, inner room
4 · Stacking and compression Plan stack heights; check bottom bags after warm weeks A working limit you set, e.g. 3 bags high Lower stacks, more rack space
5 · Separation from odours List what else is in the room No fragrance oils, solvents or cleaners beside the wax Separate room or sealed cabinet
6 · Space and access Measure bags and floor; plan first-in, first-out Every bag reachable without unstacking the rest Fewer bags at a time
7 · Release routine Arrival reference candle, retained sample, one test candle per bag Written and assigned to someone Write it before ordering

Most rooms pass some lines and fail others. A storeroom with a cool inner rack but a leaking corner is usable if the rack is used and the corner is not. A room where every spot gets hot in the afternoon is not a summer room for 100 kg, whatever the wax. Monsoon storage for festive wax covers the humid months, which arrive right after the summer this page is about.

Log before you buy, not after
Two to four weeks of daily min/max readings at the exact spots you plan to use — top shelf, rack, floor, near the window — cost a few hundred rupees in non-CSI loggers and tell you more than any general climate chart. Do it in the warmest weeks you can, or as early in the warm season as possible.

Stacking 100 kg: weight, warmth and access

Ten bags stacked in a warm corner put the bottom bag under the weight of the rest — through every hot afternoon.

Flakes, pearls and chunks are free-flowing when cool. In warm storage, under the weight of bags above, they can pack together into lumps or a solid block — a general handling issue with many waxes, not a CSI measurement. A solid bag is not necessarily damaged, but it is slow to break, hard to weigh accurately and melts unevenly. Set a stack limit and plan floor space for it. With an example bag footprint of 0.50 × 0.35 m (measure your own) and an example working limit of 3 bags high, 10 bags need 4 stacks and about 0.70 m² of rack or pallet — plus room to reach the oldest bag first.

Example layout · footprint and stack limit are examples you replace

The 50 kg bag is cheaper to handle in one sense — two bags instead of ten — and riskier in another: once opened, 50 kg sits in a resealed bag for two and a half months at the example consumption rate. Smaller bags keep the rest sealed. The price per kilo is identical (₹424.80), so the choice is purely about your room and your handling. One month of stock or more? and monthly, fortnightly or larger orders look at the ordering rhythm.

Stacking all ten bags in the coolest corner. The corner stays cool, but the bottom bags carry the rest through the hottest weeks, and the oldest bag ends up at the bottom of the pile. Fix: rack or pallet, a written stack limit, and the oldest bag always on top or at the front.

The sentinel-bag test: let one bag spend the summer first

Readings tell you how warm the room gets. They do not tell you whether that warmth changes the candles you pour. The sentinel test answers that directly, for the cost of two small bags per wax. Put one sealed bag in the warmest spot you would realistically use and its twin in the coolest, driest place you have. After the warm weeks, pour candles from both and compare.

1
Buy the sentinels on one orderPer wax: two sealed bags from the same order — CSI 468 as two 500 g bags, Natural Soy Pearl as two 1 kg bags (its smallest size). Label each with the order date. CSI publishes no lot numbers, so same order and same date is your best match.
2
Place them where the real stock would goBag W in the warmest spot you would use (for example the rack's top level), with a logger beside it. Bag C in your coolest, driest spot, with a logger. Leave both sealed.
3
Hold through the warm weeksAs long as the stock would sit there — ideally through the hottest part of summer. Read both loggers daily.
4
Pour from both on one dayTwo 200 g candles from each bag, same oil lot, same wick, same jar. Follow the wax maker's instructions; CSI's product page for CSI 468 states a 58–60°C pour; none is published for Natural Soy Pearl.
5
Compare W against CUnscented wax first (lumps, colour, smell, specks), then set candles, cold throw at a cure checkpoint, first burn. If W matches C, the room is fit for that wax over that period. If it does not, the room — not the wax — is what to fix.
Score 0–5 · W = warm-spot bag · C = cool-control bag
Sentinel-bag scoring sheet (one per wax)
Line Bag W Bag C Pass rule (example)
Logger max °C / max humidity during hold ___ / ___ ___ / ___ Record — this is the room
Bag condition: lumps, block, damp, odour ___ ___ No damp or odour; lumps break by hand
Melt: clarity, residue, time to clear ___ ___ Same as C
Set candle: surface, glass contact ___ ___ Within 1 point of C
Cold throw at checkpoint ___ ___ Within 1 point
First burn: pool, flame, soot ___ ___ No worse than C
Running the sentinel in the cool spot only. A bag kept somewhere you will not actually use proves nothing about the 100 kg. Fix: bag W goes where the overflow would really go — the top of the rack, the corner by the door — because that is where the last few bags of a large order end up.

British Rose is one of the oils with a genuine per-gram step from 100 g (₹3.42) to 500 g (₹3.19) and 1 kg (₹3.07), which matters later for production, not for this test.

100 kg at once or in tranches? The price says tranches cost nothing

At an example consumption of 20 kg a month (replace with yours), 100 kg lasts 5 months and makes about 543 candles of 200 g at 8% — 109 a month. Because CSI's listed per-kilo price is flat beyond 5 kg for both candidates, the only financial difference between buying 100 kg now and 20 kg a month is the cash you hold in the storeroom.

Example · holding-cost rate and monthly use are your figures
What 100 kg at once costs beyond the wax itself
Line CSI 468 Natural Soy Pearl How it is worked
100 kg at once ₹63,700.00 ₹42,480.00 10 × 10 kg (Soy Pearl also as 2 × 50 kg, same price)
20 kg a month ₹12,740.00 a month ₹8,496.00 a month 2 × 10 kg each month — same per-kilo rate
Price saving from buying 100 kg at once ₹0.00 ₹0.00 Per-kilo rate identical at 5 kg and above

Example cost of that cash at 12% a year for 5 months ₹1,274.00 ₹849.60 Extra average stock × ₹/kg × rate × months ÷ 12

So the 100 kg order has to earn its keep in other ways: protection against a stock-out in your busiest months, fewer orders and deliveries, one wax order date to track instead of five. Those are real benefits — a stock-out in festive season can cost far more than the example holding cost. But if your room fails the checklist, those benefits come with a storage risk you do not need to take. When a 100 kg MOQ is worth it and 25 kg today or 100 kg at a discount cover suppliers who do offer a bulk price.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. A single 100 kg order is a good sale for us. But our listed container soy wax costs the same per kilo at 10 kg as at 100 kg, so we will not pretend you save by buying it all in March. If your storeroom gets hot under the roof, buy in tranches through the summer and keep the wax at our end until you need it. Volume beyond the listed packs is quoted on WhatsApp, and no discount figure is published.

The decision rule

Working decision rule · after logging and the sentinel test
Buy 100 kg now, or not?
Room result Sentinel result Decision Order
Rack spot cool and dry; all seven lines pass W matches C Buy 100 kg 10 × 10 kg; release each bag with a test candle
Rack spot passes, overflow spots do not W differs from C Buy what the rack holds Tranches sized to the good space
Room hot or damp everywhere W differs from C Do not store 100 kg through summer Monthly orders until the room is fixed
No logging done yet — Not yet One month's wax now; log and test before the big order

Whatever you decide, release every bag. One test candle per 10 kg bag costs about ₹244.88 in materials (CSI 468 at the 10 kg rate, British Rose at 500 g, wick and jar) — ₹2,448.80 for all ten — against a 10 kg bag that would otherwise go straight into a production run. Incoming QC on a delivery that behaves differently and keeping retained samples build the routine.

Diwali falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, and the coming months are cooler — the easiest time to log your storeroom is next March to May, before you commit to a summer's stock. Tell us your monthly use and storage on WhatsApp and we will suggest an order rhythm and price it. Container wax bags go up to 10 kg; Natural Soy Pearl to 50 kg (limited stock — confirm first); larger quantities by quote, no published volume discount.

Weekly Check bottom bags for lumps and floor for damp; confirm stack limit Storeroom log
Before opening a bag Pour one test candle; compare with the arrival reference Release sheet
After opening Reseal tightly; clean scoop per wax; oldest bag first Open date on the bag
End of summer Compare the last bag's release candle with the first Season summary

The end-of-summer comparison is the one that pays for next year. If the last bag poured like the first, your room and routine work for 100 kg; if not, you know before you buy again. The full qualification protocol treats warehouse storage as one of the four stages every approved wax must pass.

Buy as much wax as your coolest shelf can hold — not as much as your budget allows.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. A 100 kg order is a good sale for us, and we still point out that our listed per-kilo price is the same at 10 kg as at 100 kg. CSI publishes no ageing, heat-storage or lot-consistency data; the only storage statements are the 60-month shelf lives on the CSI 464 and CSI 468 product pages.

Soy-wax prices are CSI live pricing re-checked on 1 October 2026; British Rose is CSI live pricing pulled 24 September 2026; wick and jar prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Pack rounding, per-kilo rates, floor area, holding cost and release costs are arithmetic shown to two decimals.

The storage risks are general practice. The bag footprint, stack limit, monthly consumption, holding-cost rate, logging period and pass rules are labelled examples you replace; loggers and hygrometers are non-CSI items. Frequently asked questions

How should I store soy wax in summer?
Sealed bags on a rack or pallet in an inner, shaded spot away from the roof, outside walls, damp floors and odours, with a stack limit and a daily min/max log. Release each bag with a test candle.
What is the shelf life of soy wax?
CSI's product pages state 60 months in cool, dry storage for CSI 464 and CSI 468. No shelf life is published for Natural Soy Pearl, Luxury Soy Wax Chunks or CSI's other soy waxes.
Why has my soy wax turned into a solid block in the bag?
Warm storage and the weight of bags above can pack flakes, pearls or chunks together — a common handling issue. Break and test-pour before use, and lower your stack height.
Is it cheaper to buy 100 kg of soy wax at once from CSI?
Not per kilo on the listed packs: CSI 468 is ₹637.00 at 5 and 10 kg, Natural Soy Pearl ₹424.80 at 5, 10 and 50 kg. Quantities beyond the listed packs are quoted on WhatsApp; no discount figure is published.
How much space does 100 kg of wax need?
Measure your bags. With an example 10 kg bag footprint of 0.50 × 0.35 m and a limit of 3 bags high, ten bags need 4 stacks and about 0.70 m², plus access to the oldest bag.
Should I buy one 50 kg bag or five 10 kg bags?
For Natural Soy Pearl the price per kilo is the same. Smaller bags keep more wax sealed while one is in use; the 50 kg bag is listed in limited stock — confirm on WhatsApp first.
Prove the room, then buy
Log the shelf, test a sentinel bag, then decide between 100 kg and tranches — at the same price per kilo.
