Thirty jars at a time forgives mistakes. Five hundred concentrates them into one batch, one payment and one delivery. Seven checks, most of them one message, before you pay.
7 gates
between buying 30 jars and ordering 500: sample, tolerance, stock, packing, payment, GST invoice, delivery · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
What should I check before my first 500-jar order? Seven things, in order: a sample from current stock against your spec sheet; a tolerance band your wick tests cover; stock depth for the exact variant from one batch; how the jars will be packed and what happens if some break; payment steps; a GST invoice; and a delivery date with somewhere to put 500 jars.

Will 500 jars be cheaper per jar than 30? On most CSI jar listings, no: they are priced flat per jar. The 200ml Salsa clear jar is 26.5% cheaper per jar from 50 Pcs, but a 50-jar order already gets that price. For quantities beyond the listed packs, ask on WhatsApp.

Why check anything if the jar has worked for months? Because 500 jars concentrate risk: one batch, one delivery, one payment. At 30 a time a bad batch costs you 30 jars; at 500 it costs a season.

What is the single most important check? Gate 1: buy one small pack from the stock you will actually receive and measure it against the jar your wick was tested in. Everything else is a question; this one is evidence.
The short answer
The checklist: sample, tolerance, stock depth, packing and damage terms, payment, GST invoice, delivery and space. Pass all seven before you pay.
The money: Matte 200 ml: 30 jars ₹2,124.00, 500 jars ₹35,400.00, both ₹70.80 a jar. Clear 150 g: 30 for ₹2,832.00, 500 for ₹47,200.00. Salsa clear: ₹40.12 at 5 Pcs, ₹29.50 from 50 Pcs.
The real gain: fewer deliveries and one batch, not a lower listed price. In a worked example with an illustrative ₹250.00 delivery, the charge per jar falls from ₹8.33 to ₹0.50.
The honest limit: CSI listings state no internal diameter and several carry copied or stale text. Check the jar in your hand, not the page.
Seven gates between 30 jars and 500 Pass each gate in order. A "no" is not a reason to cancel, only a reason not to pay yet. 1 Sample from current stock Measured against your spec sheet? No: fix the spec or the jar first yes 2 Tolerance band Inside your tested wick range? No: re-test, or pick another jar yes 3 Stock depth 500 of the exact variant, one batch? No: split order or wait yes 4 Packing and damage terms Packing described, claim steps known? No: ask before paying yes 5 Payment Steps and timing in writing? No: do not pay yet yes 6 GST invoice Invoice with your GSTIN confirmed? No: resolve before dispatch yes 7 Delivery and space Date, receiver, shelf for 500? No: move the date Pay, order 500, inspect every carton on arrival Dashed arrows: what to do on a "no". Gates 3 to 7 are one WhatsApp message.
Seven checks before a first 500-jar order, in the order they are worth doing. The first two are about the glass and need a sample in your hands; the last five are questions for the supplier. A "no" at any gate is a reason to wait or ask, not to walk away. Inspection on arrival comes after all seven.
Straight answer
I'm moving from buying 30 candle jars at a time to 500. What should I check before placing my first wholesale order?
Check seven things before you pay. First, the glass: buy one small pack from the stock you will actually receive and measure it against the jar your wick and fill weight were tested in (water to your fill line, inside diameter, height, rim and lid fit). Second, decide a tolerance band: how far a jar can differ and still sit inside your tested wick range. Then five questions for the supplier: can they supply 500 of the exact colour, finish and lid from one batch; how will the jars be packed and what do they need from you if some arrive damaged; what are the payment steps; will they issue a GST invoice with your GSTIN; and when will it be dispatched and arrive, with somewhere for 500 jars to go. Do not expect a lower price just for moving to 500: most CSI jar listings are flat per jar, and of the three compared here the one that is not (the 200ml Salsa clear jar) reaches its lowest listed price at 50. The gain from 500 is fewer deliveries and one batch; the risk is that a mistake now costs 500 jars, not 30.
One line: measure a sample from current stock, then ask about stock depth, packing, payment, GST invoice and delivery, all before you pay for 500.
Gate 1 costs one small pack. A pack of 5 White Matte 200 ml jars is ₹354.00 (₹70.80 each, in stock on 26 September 2026). Water-fill two, test-pour three, and compare them with the jars from your last 30 before you commit to 500.
Buy the sample pack — ₹354.00

What changes between 30 jars and 500

Thirty jars is a purchase. Five hundred is a commitment, and commitments need checking in a way purchases do not.

When you buy 30 jars at a time, mistakes are cheap and self-correcting. A slightly different batch, a colour that is not quite right, a jar that cracks: you notice, adjust, and the next 30 are better. Moving to 500 changes five things at once.

Risk concentrates. Five hundred jars usually arrive as one batch. If that batch is a millimetre wider inside than the jars your wick was tested in, every candle in the next few months carries the difference. How much a few millimetres matter is covered in the batch-variation post.

Cash concentrates. At ₹70.80 per Matte jar, 30 jars are ₹2,124.00 and 500 are ₹35,400.00, 16.7 times as much paid in one go, before a single candle is sold.

Space appears. Thirty jars fit on a shelf. Five hundred jars of about 7 cm across, standing in one layer, cover roughly 1.4 × 1.75 m (20 rows of 25), before cartons and partitions. Stacked in their cartons they need a dry, stable corner where nothing heavy lands on them.

Inspection becomes a job. Checking 30 jars takes minutes. Checking 500 properly takes hours, and has to happen soon after delivery, while any damage can still be reported. The checklist for that is the jar QC checklist.

The supplier relationship starts to matter. At 30 jars you are a customer; at 500 you depend on stock being there, packed well, invoiced correctly and dispatched on a date. Those are questions to ask, not assume.

Mistake: placing the 500-jar order by adding 500 to the same basket you used for 30. What happens: the jars arrive from a new batch with a slightly lower fill line, the old fill weight overflows the new glass, and 500 labels are already printed. Fix: gate 1 first, every time the quantity jumps.

What 500 costs at CSI prices, and what it saves

Most jars at CSI cost the same per piece at 5 as at 500. Know that before you expect a wholesale price.
30 jars against 500 · CSI live pricing, 26 September 2026
What the listed packs cost, and whether the per-jar price moves
Jar 30 jars Per jar 500 jars Per jar Listed saving at 500
White Matte 200 ml and sisters 3 × 10: ₹2,124.00 ₹70.80 50 × 10: ₹35,400.00 ₹70.80 None: flat per jar
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) 20 + 10: ₹2,832.00 ₹94.40 25 × 20: ₹47,200.00 ₹94.40 None: flat per jar
200ml Salsa clear 6 × 5 Pcs: ₹1,203.60 ₹40.12 5 × 100 Pcs: ₹14,750.00 ₹29.50 ₹10.62 a jar, ₹5,310.00 in all, but 50 Pcs (₹1,475.00) already gets it

So on the listed prices, moving to 500 is not a discount decision for two of these three jars. Most CSI jar listings are priced flat per jar across pack sizes; the Salsa clear jar is the exception here, and its step is at 50, not 500. If you have been buying Salsa jars in 5s, the saving is real (26.5% per jar), but you can have it by buying 50 at a time. Whether a bigger quantity at a lower quoted price is worth tying up cash for is the savings-versus-inventory calculation; when retail packs stop making sense is I'm Scaling My Candle Business — At What Point Should I Move From Retail Packs of Jars to Wholesale Cartons?.

The real savings from 500 are elsewhere. Worked example: suppose each delivery costs you ₹250.00 (an illustrative figure; use your own). Spread over 30 jars that is ₹8.33 a jar; over 500, ₹0.50. Buying 500 jars in 30s takes about 16.7 orders, and seventeen deliveries at that charge are ₹4,250.00. Add the time spent ordering, unpacking and checking seventeen times, and the batch changes you never chose, and the case for one order is operational, not a line on a price list.

Argued against our own interest: if you sell 30 candles a month in the Matte jar, a 500-jar order is over a year of stock at the same per-jar price as buying monthly. We would rather sell you 50 a month for ten months than 500 that sit in a corner. For quantities beyond the listed packs, ask us on WhatsApp for a quote; if the quote is no better than the listed price, order what the next few months need.

The seven gates, one by one

Each gate is a yes-or-no question. The first two need glass in your hands; the rest need answers from the supplier. Pass them in order: there is no point asking about payment for a jar that fails gate 1.

1
Sample from current stockBuy one small pack of the exact listing, colour, finish and lid, from what the supplier has now. Put it beside a jar from your last 30. Measure water to your fill line, inside diameter at pool height and near the base, height, rim diameter and lid fit; weigh a test pour. The full measurement list is in the bulk-measurement post. Yes if the numbers match your spec sheet.
2
Tolerance bandDecide how far a jar can differ and still use your wick and fill weight: usually the range your wick bracket actually covered, not a number from a book. If the sample sits outside it, re-test the wick in the new jar before ordering 500 (finalising the wick before 500). Yes if it sits inside.
3
Stock depthAn online store shows "in stock", not how many. Ask whether 500 of your exact variant are available now, from one batch, and whether the order would ship complete or split. Yes if the answer is specific.
4
Packing and damage termsAsk how 500 jars will be packed (cartons, partitions, jars per carton) and what the supplier needs from you if some arrive broken: photos, an unboxing video, a time limit. What good glass packaging looks like is in I'm Ordering Glass Candle Jars From Another State — What Packaging Should I Expect From a Supplier to Minimise Transit Breakage?. Yes if you know both before paying.
5
PaymentAsk what is paid when, and how. Keep the answer in writing. Yes if the steps are clear and you have an order confirmation before paying.
6
GST invoiceIf you are GST-registered, ask for a GST invoice carrying your GSTIN, and check the line items match what you ordered. CSI issues GST invoices; ask how prices are shown on it rather than assuming. Yes if confirmed before dispatch.
7
Delivery and spaceAsk for a dispatch date and likely transit time to your city (CSI dispatches from Pune; delivery times are not published). Decide who receives the cartons, where they go, and when you will inspect them. Yes if all three have an answer.
The gates as a checklist · what to ask, what to keep, what should worry you
Evidence beats memory: keep the answer to every question
Gate Ask or do Keep Red flag
1 Sample Buy a small pack of the exact variant; measure against your spec Measurements, photo beside an old jar Fill line or inside diameter visibly different
2 Tolerance Set a band from your wick tests The band, written on the spec sheet Sample outside the band and no time to re-test
3 Stock depth "Can you supply 500 of this variant from one batch?" The reply "Should be fine" with no number
4 Packing "How are 500 jars packed? What do you need if some break?" The reply No partitions described; no damage process
5 Payment "What is paid when, and how?" Order confirmation, payment receipt Pressure to pay before details are confirmed
6 GST invoice "Invoice with my GSTIN, please" The invoice Line items that do not match the order
7 Delivery "Dispatch date and transit time to my city?" The date; your inspection plan Delivery on a day nobody can receive or inspect

Gate 2 in numbers: why a few millimetres matter

Worked example. Suppose your wick bracket was run in jars you measured at 6.3 cm across the inside at pool height, and the sample from current stock measures 6.6 cm. That is only 3 mm, but the melt pool the wick has to reach grows with the square of the diameter: π × 3.15² is 31.17 cm² and π × 3.3² is 34.21 cm², 9.8% more surface for the same wick. A wick that just reached the glass in your old jars may now leave a ring of solid wax. The reverse, a narrower batch, can mean a hotter jar and a taller flame. Neither is a reason to panic; both are reasons to burn one sample jar to the bottom before 500 are poured. Measure the inside yourself with callipers or a ruler across the opening at pool height: no CSI listing states an internal diameter.

One delivery or two?

If gate 3 or gate 7 comes back uncertain, a 500-jar order does not have to arrive at once. Two deliveries of 250 halve the space problem and let you inspect the first half before the second is dispatched; the cost is a second delivery charge and the chance that the halves come from different batches. One delivery gives you one batch and one inspection, at the price of 500 jars' worth of risk arriving on one day. There is no universal answer: if batch consistency matters most to you (a single wick across the whole season), ask for one batch in one delivery; if space or cash is the constraint, split it and measure the second half against the first.

Read the listing like a spec sheet, ours included

A product page is a sales document. At 500 jars, treat it as a draft spec and check every line.

We checked our own jar listings for this series, and they illustrate why gate 1 exists. No CSI jar listing states an internal diameter. Several give a "width" or an outer diameter; some give no dimensions at all. And some carry text copied from another listing. Examples you should know about if you are ordering 500 of them:

CSI listing issues to resolve before a large order · checked 26 September 2026
Quoted from the pages; confirm the detail on WhatsApp before you rely on it
Listing What the page says Why it matters at 500
Matte / frosted 200 ml sister listings Some pages name a different colour or finish in their description than in their title 500 of the wrong finish is a season's stock
Black Glass Jar with Black Lid (150 gram) Title says "Black Lid"; description says "Golden metal lid"; title also says "(Deliveries Starting 5th Dec)" Lid colour is part of the product; the dispatch text is stale
Clear Glass Votive Jar 70 gram Description mentions "externally frosted purple matte" and "Finish: Matte white" Which finish arrives?
Shot Glass Jar (Pack of 6) 130gram Title "Pack of 6"; description "pack of five" Pack count changes your per-jar cost
Tin Containers for Candle Making, 85 & 135g Variants 85 g and 135 g; body text says 100 g and 200 g Fill weight on your label
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram) Called both "curved" and "straight-sided"; 8 cm height given with and without lid Label shape and headspace

None of these is a reason to avoid the jar; each is a reason to confirm the detail in writing before ordering 500, and to measure the sample rather than trust the page. The same applies to any supplier's listing. If you want a longer-term spec agreement with a supplier (continuity, discontinuation notice, a kept reference sample), that is a different conversation: I Want a Candle Jar I Can Reorder for Years — What Should I Ask the Supplier Before Building My Entire Product Line Around One Container?.

Out of stock is a gate-3 answer too
On 26 September 2026, Pink Matte, Frosted Brown and Orange Frosted 200 ml jars, the Amber 150 g jar, the 200 g clear and amber bamboo-lid jars and two of the three ceramic containers are out of stock. If your 30-at-a-time jar is one that goes in and out of stock, 500 in one order may be the better plan; ask when it will be back and whether 500 can be held.

The day 500 jars arrive

The seven gates get the order placed. The first hours after delivery decide whether it works. Count cartons against the delivery note before the delivery person leaves. Photograph any damaged carton before opening it. Open cartons one at a time, count and inspect the jars, and set rejects aside with their carton number. Report damage within whatever time limit you agreed at gate 4, with the evidence it asked for.

Then measure a handful from different cartons against your spec sheet. A 500-jar order is where you first see batch variation inside one delivery; if a few jars sit outside your band, the options (re-sort, re-wick or reject) and what each costs are in I Received 500 Candle Jars and Some Have Different Internal Diameters — Should I Reject Them If My Wick Was Tested on a Specific Diameter?. For the heat side of a new batch, one full burn-down in a jar from the delivery before you pour all 500 is cheap insurance (the pre-500 heat test).

Mistake: leaving 500 jars in their cartons for a fortnight because production is not until next month. What happens: by the time a crack or wrong colour is found, the window to report it has passed. Fix: inspect within days, even if you pour weeks later.

What to buy for the sample check

Gate 1 is the only gate that costs money: one small pack of the jar you mean to order, and a scale if yours is not good enough. Chosen on what the pages state, pack structure and stock on 26 September 2026, not on burn performance: CSI publishes no burn-down or breakage data for these jars.

1
jar · 200 ml opaque · the 30-at-a-time favourite
White Matte Glass Jar (and its in-stock 8 × 7 cm sisters)
The listing states "a fill weight of 200 ml", "Height 8 cm width 7 cm" and "withstand high heat" (no figure), and mentions no lid. Its sister listings (Black, Brown, Green, Purple, Red, Royal Blue, Orange and Maroon matte; Black Glossy; Black, Blue and Clear frosted) carry the same wording and price; Pink Matte, Frosted Brown and Orange Frosted are out of stock on 26 September 2026. Several sister pages carry copied text naming the wrong colour or finish, which is exactly why gate 1 exists: confirm colour, finish and lid before 500. Priced flat at ₹70.80 per jar: 30 jars are ₹2,124.00 and 500 are ₹35,400.00, the same per jar. Limitation: moving to 500 earns no listed discount on this jar.
Pack Price Per jar What it covers
Pack of 5 ₹354.00 ₹70.80 the gate-1 sample from current stock
Pack of 10 ₹708.00 ₹70.80 fifty of these make 500

jar · 200 ml lug cap · a real pack break, at 50
200ml Salsa Glass Jar with 63mm Lug Cap (Golden Lid)
The page states "The 200ml capacity", a golden 63 mm lug cap and "Heat Resistant Glass… withstands the heat of hot wax without cracking or warping" (its claim, no figure). No height or diameter is given and the description calls it "upcycled", so gate 1 means measuring everything yourself. It is the jar here where volume changes the price: ₹40.12 per jar at 5 Pcs, ₹29.50 at 50 or 100 Pcs (26.5% less). But the step is at 50: buying 500 in one go earns nothing per jar that 50 at a time does not. Limitation: no dimensions at all on the page.
Pack Price Per jar What it covers
5 Pcs ₹200.60 ₹40.12 the gate-1 sample
50 Pcs ₹1,475.00 ₹29.50 the price step: a 50-jar order already gets it
100 Pcs ₹2,950.00 ₹29.50 five of these make 500
500 jars: ₹14,750.00, ₹5,310.00 less than at the 5 Pcs price. Buy 5 Pcs — ₹200.60

jar · 150 g with lid · numeric heat wording
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid (150 gram)
The page states "150g fill capacity", a golden metal lid included, "outer diameter 7cm", "base diameter approximately 6.5cm" and "Safe for hot pour up to 85°C", one of the few CSI listings with a number (the page's wording; pour CSI 464 at 80°C to 85°C, the lower of the two stated limits). Gate 1 still applies: the page calls the jar both "curved" and "straight-sided" and gives the 8 cm height with and without the lid. Priced flat at ₹94.40 per jar: 30 are ₹2,832.00, 500 are ₹47,200.00. Limitation: the smallest pack is 10, so the gate-1 sample costs ₹944.00.
Pack Price Per jar What it covers

tool · gate 1 is a weighing job
Candle Making Weighing Scale
The sample check compares the new jars against your spec sheet: water to your fill line, then a cooled test candle. The page describes a digital scale showing "grams or ounces" with "simple one-button operation"; it states no maximum capacity or reading step, so check the unit before weighing full jars, and use a scale that reads to at least 1 g. Argued against our own interest: if your current scale reads single grams and has a tare button, you do not need this one.
Item Price Per unit What it covers
Single ₹354.00 ₹354.00 every water-fill and fill-weight check at gate 1
Sample pack of 5 Matte + scale: ₹708.00. Buy the scale — ₹354.00
When the right purchase is nothing: if your last 30 jars arrived last week from the same stock, you measured them, and they matched your spec, gate 1 is already passed. Go straight to the questions.

The one message that clears gates 3 to 7

Five gates, one message. Send it before you pay, keep the reply.

Gates 3 to 7 are questions, and they can all go in one message. Name the exact listing, colour, finish and lid; the quantity; your city; and your GSTIN if you have one. Ask: can you supply this quantity from one batch; how will it be packed and what do you need if some arrive damaged; what are the payment steps; can you issue a GST invoice with my GSTIN; and what is the dispatch date and likely transit time. Here is that message, ready to send to us. The answers are your record if anything goes wrong.

Ordering 500 before Diwali, 8 November 2026? That is 43 days away. Gate 1 takes a sample delivery and an afternoon of measuring; gates 3 to 7 take one message. Send it this week, and leave a week after delivery for inspection before you pour.

At 30 jars you can learn from mistakes. At 500 you have to prevent them.

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the jars named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page tells you that most of our jar listings carry no discount at 500, that the Salsa clear jar's discount is fully reached at 50, and that several of our own listings carry copied or stale text you should check before a large order. A first 500-jar order that goes smoothly is worth more to us than one that looked bigger.

Every price and per-jar figure was verified on CSI's live store on 26 September 2026; every pack in a pick table is in stock on that date, and out-of-stock variants are named as such. Listing wording and contradictions are quoted from the product pages as checked on that date.

The seven gates, the tolerance-band approach and the floor-space estimate are editorial judgement. The delivery charge is an illustrative input. For bulk pricing, GST invoicing, and MSDS and IFRA documentation on request, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

What should I check before placing a wholesale order for candle jars?
A sample from current stock measured against your spec sheet, a tolerance band your wick tests cover, stock depth for the exact variant from one batch, packing and damage terms, payment steps, a GST invoice with your GSTIN, and a dispatch date with space and time to inspect on arrival.
Are candle jars cheaper if I buy 500 instead of 30?
On most CSI jar listings, no: they are priced flat per jar at every pack size. The 200ml Salsa clear jar drops from ₹40.12 to ₹29.50 per jar, but from 50 Pcs, so 500 at once saves nothing per jar over 50 at a time. For quantities beyond the listed packs, ask on WhatsApp.
Why should I buy a sample if I already use the same jar?
Because a 500-jar order may come from a different batch than your last 30, and mass-produced glass varies between batches. A small pack from current stock, measured against your spec, shows whether your wick and fill weight still fit before 500 labels are printed.
What should I ask a jar supplier about packaging?
How the jars are packed (cartons, partitions, jars per carton) and what the supplier needs from you if some arrive damaged, such as photos, an unboxing video and a time limit for reporting. Get both answers before paying.
How much space do 500 candle jars take?
As a rough guide, 500 jars about 7 cm across standing in one layer cover about 1.4 × 1.75 m, before cartons and partitions. Plan a dry, stable spot where the cartons will not be stacked under anything heavy.
Can I get a GST invoice for a bulk jar order from CSI?
Yes, a GST invoice is available. Ask on WhatsApp for it with your GSTIN before dispatch, and check that the line items match your order.

They are general product reviews, not assessments of the container advice on this page. Names, star ratings, dates and products are as recorded by Judge.me and wording is unedited. "Verified buyer" appears only on reviews Judge.me recorded as verified — Dipali Sable, Monika Deep, Tina Lynette Lazaro Moganti, Kaushiki Satarkar. The reviews from Ashwini, M.S. are published but not recorded as verified, and carry no badge. Reviews below five stars are included as published, not filtered out.

Listing wording is quoted from CSI pages as checked on 26 September 2026. CSI dispatches from Pune; delivery times are not published. Diwali 8 November 2026 is a calendar fact.
