Sourcing & Scaling · Standing orders
"Regularly" is the whole question. Not cheapest, not widest — the same grade, in the same packs, on a date you can plan a pour around. Here is what that demands from a supplier, and the exact standing order at 300 and 800 candles a month.
₹72,752
the full monthly materials order for 300 × 150g candles across four scents — wax, fragrance, wicks and jars · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Which Indian supplier can supply all four inputs regularly?CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA stocks all four categories on one price list — 15 waxes, 92 fragrance oils, 18 wick lines and 75 container lines — so one order covers a month's production and arrives on one GST invoice.
What does the monthly order actually look like? At 300 × 150g candles it is 45 kg of wax, 4 kg of fragrance across four scents, 400 wicks and 300 jars — ₹72,752.40. At 800 candles it is 115 kg, 10 kg, 900 wicks and 800 jars — ₹1,86,939.00.
How far ahead must materials land?Roughly 30 days before the candles ship. Transit, pour, a 14–21 day cure and packing consume the month, which is why at scale you are always pouring for next month, never this one.
What is the actual trap? Not units. Scents. Doubling output on four scents cuts your material cost per candle by ₹8.83 and adds no new SKUs. Doubling to eight scents at the same output adds four test batches, 24 unsaleable candles, 21 days of cure and halves the volume behind every line.
The short answer
Judge a supplier on five things, in this order: the same grade every month, honest stock status before you order, depth across all four inputs, documentation with every consignment, and a human who answers. Price is sixth.
Convert output into a fixed order. A 150g candle at an 8% load is 138g of wax and 12g of oil. Multiply by your monthly number, add a 5–10% buffer, round up to CSI pack sizes, and that list becomes the order you re-place every month without rethinking it.
Grow units, not SKUs. Units get cheaper per candle. Scents get more expensive per candle and multiply your testing, your cure queue and your dead stock.
Output rises 2.67×, but the four inputs do not rise at the same rate. Wax goes up 2.56× and wicks only 2.25×, because at 300 candles a month you are forced to over-buy against CSI pack sizes — 45 kg of wax to pour 41.4 kg, 400 wicks to set 300. That gap is the real cost of a small order, and it closes as you scale. Quantities assume a 150g candle at an 8% fragrance load: 138g of wax and 12g of oil per unit.
Which Indian supplier can supply wax, fragrance oil, wicks and jars regularly enough to scale on?
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA can, and the reason is depth rather than price. Regular supply is not a delivery promise — it is a stock list wide enough that one order covers a whole month of pouring. CSI carries 15 waxes, 92 fragrance oils in 15g to 1kg sizes, 18 wick and wick-accessory lines and 75 container lines, all on one price list and one GST invoice. For a brand pouring 300 × 150g candles a month across four scents, the entire standing order is 45 kg of CSI 464, 4 kg of oil, 400 Eco Wicks and 300 jars — ₹72,752.40, or ₹242.51 of materials per candle. At 800 candles it is ₹1,86,939.00 and ₹233.67 per candle. Place the same list on the same date each month, adjust one number for growth, and the sourcing problem stops being a problem. The honest caveat: most CSI waxes top out at a 10 kg pack, so at 800 candles a month you are ordering eleven bags, not one drum. That is a conversation to have directly on WhatsApp, not something to discover mid-scale. More on one-supplier sourcing in can I buy all my materials from one supplier.
One line: regularity is a stock list you can repeat, not a courier promise — fix the recipe, convert output into pack quantities, and re-order the identical list on the same date every month.
The wax is the one line you must never substitute mid-year. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40 per kg at 1kg, 5kg and 10kg — the same rate at every tier above 1kg, so buy the quantity your month needs rather than the quantity that looks like a bulk deal.
What "regularly" actually requires from a supplier
Everyone selling raw materials says they can supply you. The word that separates them is not "quality" or "cheap". It is "again".
At forty candles a month, a supplier failing you costs a weekend. At three hundred, your jars are ordered, your labels carry a scent name and your listing has a photograph — so a wax that arrives one grade different does not annoy you, it makes a product you cannot sell under the same name. Scaling converts a supplier from a shop into a dependency. Five things make one repeatable. Check them in this order, and notice that price is not among them: a cheap supplier who breaks your February is not cheap.
1
The same grade every monthNot "soy wax". A named, coded product you can re-order by name: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 (Flakes), not "464-type flakes". A coded wax means your pour temperature, wick size and cure schedule survive the reorder. Waxes carry different stated fragrance ceilings — up to 13% on Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, up to 10% on CSI 464, both wax-manufacturer formulation limits — so a silent grade change quietly invalidates your recipe. If you cannot name the exact product on the invoice, you do not have a repeatable supply. How to verify wax quality before you buy.
2
Honest stock status before you order, not afterThe failure that hurts is not an out-of-stock item — it is one you learn about four days after paying, with a pour date already booked. On the September 2026 CSI list, Soy Wax 464 Pellets were out of stock, Eco Wicks Thick (C2) were out at the 10-wick size but in stock at 20 and above, and several votive and frosted jar colours were out entirely. That is information you can build a month around. A supplier who shows everything as available is not being generous.
3
Depth across all four inputs, so one order covers youFour vendors means four lead times, four minimums, four freight charges and four chances for the month to slip — and the cheapest line on the list, a ₹9.44 wick, can stop a ₹1,86,939 run. Depth in all four is worth a premium on any single line: 15 waxes, 92 fragrance oils, 18 wick lines, 75 containers, 26 dyes and 67 moulds, plus packaging, on one list.
4
Documentation with every consignment, not on special requestSell through retailers, marketplaces, corporate gifting or export and someone will ask for paperwork on a deadline. GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation should be ordinary, not a favour. Keep the invoice, batch, pour date and wick size for every run in one sheet, so that when a customer queries batch 47 in April you can find batch 47 in twenty seconds.
5
A contact who answersThe unglamorous one, and the one that decides whether your scale-up is survivable. When you need to know whether the 10 kg pack ships before Thursday, you need a person, not a ticket queue — that is what Jaya Sawlani means by "timely response to the inquiries". CSI runs it on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926. Test it before you depend on it: send a real question this week and time the reply.
Soy wax quality is the best, which ever products ordered were properly packed and delivered as early as possible, timely response to the inquiries. Good service
Place two small orders four weeks apart before committing a season. Same product code, same variant. Weigh what arrives, check the flake appearance, pour one identical test candle from each and burn both. If batch two behaves like batch one, you have found a supplier; if not, you learned it on two small orders rather than in a Diwali run. A weighing scale at ₹354 and a pen thermometer at ₹354 make that a measurement rather than an opinion.
The standing monthly order, itemised
This is the part almost nobody writes down, and it is what makes scaling boring in the good way: convert output into a fixed list of packs, then stop thinking about it. The working unit is a 150g candle at an 8% fragrance load — 138g of wax, 12g of oil, one wick, one jar. Eight per cent sits inside the stated ceilings for both CSI 464 (10%) and Luxury Soy Chunks (13%). Substitute your own jar and load; the method does not change.
Standing order A · 300 × 150g candles a month · four scents
75 candles per scent · 41.4 kg of wax and 3.6 kg of oil poured
₹242.51 of materials per candle — and look at where it goes before you look at the total. The jar is 38.9% of the bill, wax 31.4%, fragrance 24.5%, wicks 5.2%. First-time scalers almost always try to save on wax, the second-largest line and the one where a change costs them a recipe. The jar is the largest line and the one you can change without a single burn test: moving to the Black Glass Jar with Black Lid at ₹107.00 each would add ₹3,780 a month, and moving down is where real savings live. How to price candles in India takes this further.
Standing order B · 800 × 150g candles a month · same four scents
200 candles per scent · 110.4 kg of wax and 9.6 kg of oil poured
Read the two totals against each other; the lesson is not the one you expect. Output rises 2.67× and material cost per candle falls only from ₹242.51 to ₹233.67 — ₹8.83, about 3.6%, because CSI pricing is flat per unit above the entry tier: CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg at 1kg, 5kg and 10kg alike, Eco Wicks C2 are ₹9.44 each from 20 pieces to 1,000, and the 150g jar is ₹94.40 each at a pack of 10 or 20. The whole ₹8.83 comes from wasting less, not paying less — over-buy shrinks from 8.7% to 4.2% on wax and 33% to 12.5% on wicks. Anyone promising volume alone will transform your unit economics is describing a different industry.
1
Freeze the recipe once, in writingWax product code, load as a percentage and in grams, jar product and internal diameter, wick type and size, pour temperature, cure days. One page, one scent per row, and nothing on it changes without a test batch behind it. If the wick is not settled yet, settle it first — the wick guide by jar diameter is the shortcut.
2
Write the per-unit line, then multiply138g wax · 12g oil · 1 wick · 1 jar, multiplied by next month's target. That gives kilograms and pieces, which is what an order is made of. Keep the target in one spreadsheet cell so a change of plan is one keystroke.
3
Add the buffer before you round, not after5% on wax and fragrance, 10% on wicks, 3% on jars. Wicks get the biggest buffer: test burns and re-pours eat them and they are the cheapest thing to hold. Jars get the smallest because they are the dearest line and rarely consumed by a mistake — but they break in transit, so it is not zero.
4
Round up to CSI pack sizes, and record the rounding41.4 kg becomes 45 kg; 300 wicks becomes 400. Note the surplus somewhere visible, because next month it is opening stock and you should order less. A standing order that never checks the shelf is how a business ends up with 30 kg of wax and no jars.
5
Place it on the same date every month, and change one numberPick a date — the 1st, or the first working Monday — and treat it as a fixed appointment: send the identical list on WhatsApp, or save the cart and re-order it. The only figure that changes month to month is the unit target. Because CSI's per-kilo and per-piece rates are flat above the entry tier, growth is close to linear: every additional 100 candles a month costs ₹22,733.14 — 13.8 kg of wax, 1.2 kg of oil, 100 wicks, 100 jars — or ₹227.33 per extra candle. That marginal number, not your average, is what you price a new wholesale enquiry against.
Doubling how many candles you pour is a logistics exercise. Doubling how many things you sell is a different business.
Almost every brand that stalls here stalls the same way. Sales are decent, so the founder adds scents — eight feels more like a real range than four, and every request you cannot fill feels like lost revenue. Then the pours slow, the cupboard fills with part-used bottles, and the month that was meant to be twice as big is the same size with twice the admin.
The part suppliers rarely say out loud: the penalty is not the oil price. The four scents above blend to ₹4.46 per gram at the 1kg tier, and adding four cheaper oils would pull that average down — British Rose is ₹3.07 per gram at 1kg, Roasted Coffee ₹3.74. The money goes somewhere else: into testing, into capital sitting still, and into forecast error.

The forecast row is the one that quietly kills margins. At four scents and 75 units each, a 20-unit error is a 27% miss you absorb next cycle. At eight scents and 38 units each, the identical error is a 53% miss — you are either out of your best seller mid-month or holding a scent nobody wanted. Halving the volume behind each SKU roughly doubles your exposure to being wrong about it, and you are now wrong about eight things instead of four.
SKU count multiplies, it does not add. Four scents in one jar is four finished lines. Four scents in two jar formats is eight. Eight scents in two formats is sixteen — sixteen label artworks, photo sets, listings and monthly reorder decisions, and sixteen chances to be out of the one a customer wants. Every axis multiplies against every other. For a bigger-looking range without the multiplication, sell sets of what you already pour: a three-candle gift box is a new SKU built entirely from existing stock.
The CSI principle
Add units until the process hurts. Add scents only when a scent has earned it with orders you turned down.
A scent should enter the range because customers asked for it by name and you said no twice, not because eight looks better than four on a shelf. The four-scent brand pouring 800 a month is healthier than the eight-scent brand pouring 300, and considerably less work.
My customer was very happy with this apple cinnamon fragrance. As soon as they entered their home this smell is warmth and pleasing. And I got many orders who visited their home, as they also loved the smell.
— PREETHI PRASATH · Verified buyer · Apple Cinnamon Fragrance Oil · May 2026
That is what an earned scent looks like: one fragrance generating referral orders on its own, not a range of twenty. If you are choosing which four to build on, how much fragrance oil a candle business needs works through the quantities and the festive bulk oils guide covers what sells in season.
Ninety-two fragrance oils are in stock in 15g, 50g, 100g, 500g and 1kg. Test a candidate scent in 15g or 50g before it becomes a SKU — that is what the small sizes are for, and it costs a fraction of discovering the answer in a 500g bottle.
Lead time and cure: at scale you are always pouring for next month
The hardest habit to build when you scale is accepting that the candles you pour this week are not for this week's orders. Cure is calendar time you cannot compress with effort or money: citrus blends settle at around 14 days, florals want 14 to 18, woody, gourmand and oriental oils keep improving to 21. That block sits in the middle of your supply chain and pushes everything else backwards.

The rule, in one sentence
Materials must land on your bench thirty days before those candles need to be in a customer's hands, which means placing the order five weeks ahead. Run it backwards from any deadline you are given: subtract 4 days of courier transit, 2 of packing, your cure days, 3 of pouring and 7 of inbound transit. That date is your order date, and it is always earlier than it feels.
The consequence for cash surprises people. In steady state at 800 candles a month you hold three months of production value in the room at once: this month's materials at ₹1,86,939, last month's batch curing on shelves, and the month before's finished stock waiting to ship. Scaling is a working-capital problem as much as a supply one, and the cure is what creates it — is candle making actually profitable in India in 2026 runs that side.
Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November, and the arithmetic is unforgiving. Festive gifting purchases peak roughly a fortnight before the day, so work back from a candle in a customer's hands on 25 October: courier transit 3–5 days means dispatch by 20 October; labelling and QC means candles finished by 18 October; a 21-day cure on the woody, spiced and gourmand scents that sell at Diwali means pouring by 27 September; materials on the bench by 25 September; and with 5–7 days of inbound transit, the order goes in by 18 September 2026. If you are selling into retailers or corporate gifting rather than direct, everything moves two to three weeks earlier again — a retailer who wants stock on shelf by 10 October needed your pour to happen in mid-September, which is now. How early to order fragrance oils for Diwali has the full festive calendar.
What breaks when you scale — and what CSI cannot do
Supply is only one of the things that stops working at 800 candles a month. These four break first, in the order they usually break.
Cure space runs out before storage doesEight hundred jars curing for three weeks while the next batch is poured means shelving for up to 1,600 filled jars, lids on, out of sunlight — and curing stock cannot be stacked tightly or moved casually. Measure the shelf metres before you commit to the volume.
3
Wick consistency drifts across bigger batchesOne validated wick per jar diameter, validated by a three-jar burn test for a full melt pool in two to three hours with no soot — re-run it whenever the wax pack, jar or fragrance changes. Eco Candle Wicks ship in Thin (C1) at ₹5.90 and Thick (C2) at ₹9.44, so both fit in one order; the wick guide by diameter sets the starting point.
4
Storage: the jars are the problem, not the wax115 kg of wax is heavy but compact; 10 kg of oil needs a cool dark shelf away from the melter; 800 glass jars are the volume problem — 40 packs of 20 that cannot be stacked high and are the line you break by handling. Put packaging and care stickers at ₹413 per 500 on the same shelf plan.
It has made my candle making journey so much easier. I used to double boil and was thinking of quitting due to the complexity of it and the time it took. Now i just leave my wax in the melter and thats it.
— Tanya Walia · Verified buyer · Mini Electric Wax Melter · November 2025
Deepika k. makes the same point — "specially wax melter made easy my life" — and both are describing the moment equipment stops being an expense and becomes throughput. That is when to buy it: when the constraint is hours, not rupees.
Now the part that is against our interest, stated plainly: CSI's pack depth is not built for very large runs. Most waxes top out at a 10 kg pack: CSI 464, Luxury Soy Chunks, Soy Pillar Wax and Coconut Soy CSI 468 all stop there, and Eco Soy CSI 400 at 5 kg. Only Natural Soy Pearl Wax is listed in a 50 kg pack, at ₹21,240 (₹424.80/kg). The 800-candle order above therefore arrives as eleven 10 kg bags plus a 5 kg bag, twelve packs to open and reconcile monthly; wick packs stop at 1,000 pieces and 800 jars is 40 packs of 20. That is not a reason to look elsewhere at this volume, but it is a reason to raise it with us before you commit a season — ask on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 whether larger packs, a split delivery or a reserved allocation are possible for your wax. Ask before you scale, not during. Check variant-level stock too: on the September 2026 list, Soy Wax 464 Pellets, the Amber 150g jar and several votive and frosted colours were out of stock.
Why trust this guide
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. On a page about scaling, the commercially convenient advice would be "add more scents and buy bigger packs". We have said the opposite on both counts: adding scents at the same output raises your cost per candle and multiplies your risk, and our own pack depth stops at 10 kg on most waxes — a real limitation to raise with us before you commit a season to it.
Every price here is taken from live CSI stock on 10 September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing and availability always take precedence. Quantities assume a 150g candle at an 8% load — 138g of wax and 12g of oil — inside the stated ceilings for both waxes discussed. Those ceilings, up to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and up to 10% for Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, are wax manufacturers' formulation limits, not regulatory limits, and are not interchangeable between waxes.
For standing monthly orders, bulk pricing, larger pack enquiries, GST invoicing, MSDS and IFRA documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926. Send your own jar size and load and we will cost this order back against them.
Frequently asked questions
Which Indian supplier can supply wax, fragrance oil, wicks and jars regularly?
Look for depth across all four categories on one price list — that is what lets a single order cover a full month of pouring. CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA stocks 15 waxes, 92 fragrance oils, 18 wick and wick-accessory lines and 75 container lines, ships across India and invoices with GST. Judge any supplier on five things before price: the same named grade every month, honest variant-level stock status, depth in all four inputs, documentation with each consignment, and a contact who replies. Test it with two small orders four weeks apart before you depend on it.
How much raw material does a candle business need each month?
Work from the unit. A 150g candle at an 8% load is 138g of wax, 12g of oil, one wick and one jar. At 300 candles a month that is 41.4 kg of wax and 3.6 kg of oil; at 800 it is 110.4 kg and 9.6 kg. Add 5% on wax and fragrance, 10% on wicks and 3% on jars, then round up to pack sizes: at CSI's September 2026 pricing, ₹72,752.40 a month at 300 candles and ₹1,86,939.00 at 800.
How far ahead do I need to order raw materials?
Five weeks before dispatch. Allow 5–7 days for inbound transit, 2–3 days to pour a month's batch, 14–21 days of cure, and 2 days to label, QC and pack. That is roughly 32 days from placing the order to the candles leaving your door, and 35–37 days to a customer's hands. The cure is the block you cannot shorten, which is why at any real scale you are always pouring for next month rather than this one.
Is it actually cheaper to buy candle raw materials in bulk?
Less than you would think, and better known before you plan around it. CSI 464 is ₹507.40 per kg at 1kg, 5kg and 10kg alike; Eco Wicks C2 are ₹9.44 each from 20 pieces to 1,000; the 150g jar is ₹94.40 each at a pack of 10 or 20. Going from 300 to 800 candles cuts material cost per candle from ₹242.51 to ₹233.67 — ₹8.83, all of it from wasting less rather than paying less. Fragrance oil is the exception worth chasing: the 1kg tier is meaningfully cheaper per gram than 15g or 50g.
Should I add more scents or pour more of the ones I already sell?
Pour more of what you already sell, until the process genuinely hurts. Doubling units on four scents adds zero test batches, zero labels and zero listings, and lowers cost per candle. Doubling to eight scents at the same output costs four test batches, 24 unsaleable test candles (₹5,820.24), 21 days of cure before the range can sell and four label designs — and halves the volume behind each SKU, so the same 20-unit forecast error goes from a 27% miss to a 53% one. Add a scent when customers have asked for it by name and you have said no more than twice.
What is the largest wax pack CSI sells?
On the September 2026 list, only Natural Soy Pearl Wax is listed in a 50 kg pack, at ₹21,240 (₹424.80 per kg). Every other soy wax tops out at 10 kg and Eco Soy CSI 400 at 5 kg, so 110 kg a month arrives as twelve packs rather than one drum. If your volume needs deeper packs of a specific wax, ask on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926 before you build a season around it.

Calculations: All quantities assume a 150g finished candle at an 8% fragrance load — 138g wax, 12g oil, one wick, one jar. 300 candles = 41.4 kg wax and 3.6 kg oil poured; 800 candles = 110.4 kg and 9.6 kg. Order totals of ₹72,752.40 and ₹1,86,939.00 are the sums of the itemised pack lists shown, giving ₹242.51 and ₹233.67 of materials per candle. The marginal figure of ₹22,733.14 per additional 100 candles is 13.8 kg of wax at ₹507.40/kg, 1.2 kg of oil at the four-scent blended 1kg rate of ₹4.4559/g, 100 wicks at ₹9.44 and 100 jars at ₹94.40. Test-batch cost of ₹5,820.24 is 24 candles at ₹242.51; the ₹3,780 jar-swap figure is 300 × (₹107.00 − ₹94.40). Cost shares of the 300-candle order are jars 38.9%, wax 31.4%, fragrance 24.5% and wicks 5.2%. Fragrance load ceilings of up to 13% (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks) and up to 10% (Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464) are wax manufacturers' stated formulation limits, not regulatory limits. Cure windows of 14–21 days reflect standard practice for soy container candles. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 November. Prices and availability change — the linked product pages are always authoritative.
