The title gives the ratio and the count but not the candle size, so this page states one: 200 g at 8% total fragrance. On that assumption each candle takes 16 g of blend, split 8.0 g coffee, 4.8 g vanilla and 3.2 g sandalwood, and 500 candles need 8 kg of blend before allowances. Each oil then becomes its own order line.
4,000 · 2,400 · 1,600 g
coffee · vanilla · sandalwood, net, for 500 × 200 g candles at 8% total (200 g is this page's assumption) · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How much of each oil for 500 candles at 50:30:20? Assuming 200 g candles at 8% total: 500 × 16 g = 8,000 g of blend, so 4,000 g coffee, 2,400 g vanilla, 1,600 g sandalwood net. With 5 QC candles and a 3% pour-loss allowance: 4,161.2 g, 2,496.7 g and 1,664.5 g.

What if my candles are not 200 g? Everything scales in proportion. At 150 g the net figures are 3,000 / 1,800 / 1,200 g; at 250 g, 5,000 / 3,000 / 2,000 g. See the size table.

Which packs should I order? Roasted Coffee 4 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g (₹15,732.00), Dark Vanilla 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g (₹19,132.00), Sandalwood 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g (₹8,545.56). Oil total ₹43,409.56.

What does the blend cost per candle? ₹82.69 of fragrance per 200 g candle at 1 kg rates: ₹29.90 coffee, ₹36.70 vanilla, ₹16.09 sandalwood. Vanilla is 30% of the blend but the largest cost line.
The short answer
Assumption: Candle size is not in the question, so this page uses 200 g at 8% total fragrance (16 g of blend per candle). Replace it with your own fill weight.
Quantities: Net: coffee 4,000 g · vanilla 2,400 g · sandalwood 1,600 g. With 5 QC candles + 3%: 4,161.2 g · 2,496.7 g · 1,664.5 g (8,322.4 g of blend).
Order: Oils ₹43,409.56 · wax 95,707.6 g (Chunks ₹57,585.00) · wicks and jars → full order ₹1,39,757.56.
500 candles, one 50:30:20 blend: each oil is its own order line, rounded to its own packs Component Need incl. 5 QC candles + 3% (filled) vs packs bought (outline) Roasted Coffee 50% need 4,161.2 g → buy 4 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g = 4,200 g Dark Vanilla 30% need 2,496.7 g → buy 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g = 2,500 g Sandalwood 20% need 1,664.5 g → buy 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g = 1,700 g Per candle: 8.0 g coffee + 4.8 g vanilla + 3.2 g sandalwood = 16 g (8% of 200 g). Oil for the run ₹43,409.56. The 200 g candle weight is this page's assumption. Change it and every line scales in proportion (see the size table).
Each oil in the blend is its own line on the order. The filled bar is the quantity needed, including five QC candles and a 3% pour-loss allowance; the outline is what the listed packs deliver. Because each oil is rounded separately, the spare grams differ from line to line. The 200 g candle is an assumption stated on this page.
Straight answer
My candle uses a 50:30:20 coffee-vanilla-sandalwood blend. How much of each fragrance oil should I order for 500 candles?
The question needs a candle size, so this page states its assumption: 200 g candles at 8% total fragrance. Each candle then holds 16 g of blend: 8.0 g of coffee, 4.8 g of vanilla and 3.2 g of sandalwood. For 500 candles that is 8,000 g of blend, or 4,000 g of coffee, 2,400 g of vanilla and 1,600 g of sandalwood net. Add five QC candles and a 3% pour-loss allowance (both working assumptions) and the order becomes 4,161.2 g, 2,496.7 g and 1,664.5 g. Round each oil up to its own packs: Roasted Coffee 4 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g, Dark Vanilla 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g, and Sandalwood 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g. The three oils cost ₹43,409.56, which is ₹82.69 of fragrance per candle at 1 kg rates. If your candles are 150 g, multiply every figure by 0.75; at 250 g, by 1.25. The run also needs about 95.7 kg of wax, beyond the largest listed Luxury Soy Wax Chunks bag, so ask CSI on WhatsApp for a quote at that quantity.
One line: state the candle weight, total the blend, split 50:30:20, round each oil — four steps, three order lines.
All three oils in this blend were in stock at every size on the pull date: Roasted Coffee (₹3,738.00 a kilo), Dark Vanilla (₹7,646.00) and Sandalwood (₹5,026.80). For an order of this size, message CSI with the three quantities for a quote beyond the listed packs.

The missing number: candle size

"500 candles" is a count, not a quantity. Until you know what each candle weighs, nobody can tell you how much oil to buy.

Every quantity on this page flows from one number the question does not give: the finished weight of each candle. We assume 200 g, the default container size in this series, at 8% total fragrance measured on the finished candle. That gives 16 g of blend and 184 g of wax per candle. If your candle is a different weight, the method is the same and every figure scales in direct proportion; there is a table for that below. If you only know your jar's volume, not its fill weight, weigh a test pour first. Estimating fill weight from a water fill shows the method.

Write the assumption on the order sheet
An order sheet that says "500 candles, 50:30:20" will be read differently by everyone who picks it up. One that says "500 × 200 g, 8% total, 50:30:20 by weight, 5 QC + 3%" cannot be misread. Put the candle weight, the load convention and the allowances at the top.

The component sheet

Build the order in the same sequence every time: total fragrance per candle, then per run, then allowances on the total, then split by the ratio. Five QC candles are a fixed quantity (one for retained sample, the rest for burn and cure checks during the run), so they are added to the count before the percentage allowance.

500 × 200 g (assumed) · 8% total · 50:30:20 by weight · 5 QC candles · 3% pour loss
One blend, three order lines
Component Share Per candle Net, 500 candles + 5 QC candles + 3% allowance
Roasted Coffee 50% 8.0 g 4,000 g 4,040 g 4,161.2 g
Dark Vanilla 30% 4.8 g 2,400 g 2,424 g 2,496.7 g
Sandalwood 20% 3.2 g 1,600 g 1,616 g 1,664.5 g
Blend total 100% 16.0 g 8,000 g 8,080 g 8,322.4 g

Three things to notice. The allowance is applied once, to the total, and then shared by the ratio, so the components stay in proportion. The QC candles are real candles, and they need wax, wicks and jars as well as oil. And the per-candle grams are small for the minor components: 3.2 g of sandalwood in a 200 g candle. Weighed one candle at a time on a whole-gram scale, that component can drift by 15% either way, which is why a premixed blend is the norm for runs of this size. The smallest-component page works through that precision problem at 100 kg.

Giving each oil its own 8%. Three oils at 8% each is a 24% candle: 48 g of oil in 200 g. That is nearly double the 13% stated maximum for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, nearly two and a half times CSI 464's 10%, and three times the oil bill. The 8% is the whole blend. The 70:30 lavender-vanilla page sets out the same error for two oils.

If your candle is not 200 g

Because every quantity is candle weight × load × share, a different candle weight scales every line by the same factor. Here is the same order (505 candles poured including QC, 8% total, 3% allowance) at four common weights:

505 candles poured · 8% total · 3% allowance · by weight
The order at four candle weights
Candle weight Blend per candle Blend total Coffee (50%) Vanilla (30%) Sandalwood (20%) Wax
150 g 12 g 6,241.8 g 3,120.9 g 1,872.5 g 1,248.4 g 71,780.7 g
180 g 14.4 g 7,490.2 g 3,745.1 g 2,247.0 g 1,498.0 g 86,136.8 g
200 g 16 g 8,322.4 g 4,161.2 g 2,496.7 g 1,664.5 g 95,707.6 g
250 g 20 g 10,403.0 g 5,201.5 g 3,120.9 g 2,080.6 g 1,19,634.5 g

A 50 g difference in candle weight moves the coffee line by over a kilo. That is why the fill weight has to be weighed, not read off a jar's millilitre rating. If your load is not 8%, the scaling works the same way: at 6% multiply the 8% figures by 0.75, at 10% by 1.25. Check any load against your wax's stated ceiling (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10%).

Rounding three oils to packs

At production scale, round each oil to production sizes. Five tiny top-up bottles save a few rupees and cost you a morning.

For a 500-candle run we round each component using CSI's 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg sizes only, and leave the 15 g and 50 g for testing. Each oil is rounded on its own:

Production sizes only (100 g and up) · all in stock · CSI live pricing, 24 September 2026
The oil order
Oil Needed Packs Bought Spare Price Per gram paid
Roasted Coffee 4,161.2 g 4 × 1 kg + 2 × 100 g 4,200 g 38.8 g ₹15,732.00 ₹3.75
Dark Vanilla 2,496.7 g 2 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g 2,500 g 3.3 g ₹19,132.00 ₹7.65
Sandalwood 1,664.5 g 1 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 g + 2 × 100 g 1,700 g 35.5 g ₹8,545.56 ₹5.03
Total 8,322.4 g 8,400 g ₹43,409.56

The vanilla line is the tightest: 2,500 g against a need of 2,496.7 g, only 3.28 g spare after the allowance. If your real pour loss runs above 3%, add a 100 g of Dark Vanilla (₹790.00) to the order. Sandalwood is priced flat at ₹5.03 a gram from 100 g to 1 kg, so it makes no difference whether you buy 1 kg + 500 g + 2 × 100 g or seventeen 100 g bottles. Roasted Coffee's kilo is about 4% cheaper per gram than its 100 g, and Dark Vanilla's about 3%; none of the three is among the 24 oils with a kilo saving of 5% or more. For more than the listed packs of any of them, CSI quotes on WhatsApp and publishes no discount figure. When kilo buying becomes economical explains that pattern.

Argued against our own interest, plainly. A round order of 5 kg coffee, 3 kg vanilla and 2 kg sandalwood looks tidy and would sell us about 1.6 kg more oil. It is also ₹8,272.04 more than this run needs. Order to the component sheet; if the blend becomes a steady seller, set reorder points per oil instead of stockpiling.

The wax, wicks and jars

The wax is the largest quantity in the order: 505 × 184 g × 1.03 = 95,707.6 g, about 96 kilos. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are listed up to 10 kg bags, so at listed prices that is 9 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg + 1 × 1 kg, ₹57,585.00. Natural Soy Pearl Wax, the one CSI wax with a real bulk break and a 50 kg bag, would cover it as 1 × 50 kg + 4 × 10 kg + 1 × 5 kg + 1 × 1 kg for ₹40,806.00, but no fragrance ceiling is quoted for it in this series; check its product page or ask CSI before running an 8% blend in it. At this quantity, ask for a WhatsApp quote; no volume discount is published.

At list prices, the materials come to ₹279.52 per sellable candle, with the QC candles' cost spread across the 500. That excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. The jar is the second-largest line after the wax, and neither its fill weight nor the right wick size is published: confirm both with a weighed, burned test candle before you commit to 505 of them. Converting a 5,000-candle quote into procurement shows the same sheet at ten times the scale.

Running the blend across 500 candles

1
Premix the blend in weighed lotsMix the full 8.3 kg at once only if you have a clean container that size and will pour it within your normal working window. Otherwise mix in 1 kg lots: 500 g coffee, 300 g vanilla, 200 g sandalwood per lot, labelled with date and lot.
2
Keep one lot as the referencePour a QC candle from the first lot and keep it. Every later lot is compared against it.
3
Pour by weight16 g of blend per 200 g candle; for a 10-candle pour, 160 g of blend into 1,840 g of wax, plus your allowance.
4
Follow the wax maker's temperaturesAdd fragrance and pour at the temperatures your wax maker specifies. For CSI 464, CSI's guidance is 80–90°C; confirm on the product page.
5
Track what is left of each oilThe oils deplete in the 50:30:20 ratio. If any line runs short, you cannot finish the run, however much of the other two remains. Check the vanilla, the tightest line, after every 100 candles.
6
Record the real lossAt the end, weigh what is left of each oil. The next order's allowance comes from this figure, not from the 3% assumption.
The CSI principle
A blend is only as long as its shortest component.
Rounding each oil separately means each has a different margin. The run stops when the first one runs out, not when the total blend does. Watch the tightest line, and top it up before you start, not halfway through.
A coffee-vanilla-sandalwood candle is a natural gifting scent, and Diwali falls on 8 November 2026. For a 500-candle blend order, a single quote for all three oils and the wax, GST invoicing, or the IFRA certificate for each oil, message CSI on WhatsApp. CSI sells the single oils; the blend is your formula.
Quote the full blend order

If the 50:30:20 came from a small test and you are not yet sure it will hold at scale, scaling a 30 g test blend to 1,000 candles explains how to carry the ratio up without drift. For the single-oil version of a coffee run, 1 kg of coffee at 150 g gives the count, and the 5 kg reorder page shows how to set reorder points once the blend becomes a steady seller.

Five hundred candles is not a quantity until you say what each one weighs. Then it is three order lines.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. CSI sells the three single oils; the 50:30:20 blend is your formula and no blending service is published. This page orders each oil to the need and says where a tidy round order would cost you money.

Oil and wax prices are CSI live listings pulled on 24 September 2026; all three oils were in stock at every size. Wick and jar prices are those verified for Blog 760 on 10 September 2026. Component grams, rounding and totals are arithmetic on those figures.

The 200 g candle weight, the five QC candles, the 3% pour-loss allowance and the 1 kg mixing lots are this page's stated assumptions; replace them with your own. For a quote on the full order, GST invoicing, MSDS or IFRA documentation, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate fragrance quantities for a three-oil blend?
Total blend = candles × candle weight × load (plus allowances). Each oil = total × its share. For 500 × 200 g at 8% and 50:30:20: 8,000 g total; 4,000 g, 2,400 g and 1,600 g.
How much fragrance oil do I need for 500 candles?
It depends on candle weight and load. At 8%: 500 × 150 g needs 6,000 g; 500 × 200 g needs 8,000 g; 500 × 250 g needs 10,000 g, before allowances.
What is 50:30:20 in grams per candle?
For a 200 g candle at 8% total: 8.0 g, 4.8 g and 3.2 g (16 g in all). For a 150 g candle: 6.0 g, 3.6 g and 2.4 g.
Should I add wastage to each oil or to the total blend?
To the total, then split by the ratio, so the components stay in proportion. Then round each oil up to its own packs separately.
How much wax for 500 candles of 200 g at 8%?
92,000 g net (500 × 184 g). With five QC candles and 3% loss, 95,707.6 g. That is beyond the largest listed Luxury Soy Wax Chunks bag (10 kg), so ask CSI for a quote.
What does a coffee-vanilla-sandalwood candle cost to make?
The fragrance is ₹82.69 per 200 g candle at 1 kg rates. With wax (₹110.22), an Eco Thin C1 wick (₹5.90) and a White Matte Glass Jar (₹70.80), about ₹269.61, before labour, packaging, freight and GST.

Non-price figures and assumptions: The 200 g candle weight is this page's assumption, stated because the question gives none. Load is a share of finished weight; blend ratios are by weight. Five QC candles (fixed) and a 3% pour-loss allowance (on oil and wax) are working assumptions, applied in that order before splitting. Oils are rounded to in-stock 100 g, 500 g and 1 kg sizes. Per-candle material cost = oil + wax + wick + jar and excludes labour, packaging, freight and GST. Fragrance-load ceilings (Luxury Soy Wax Chunks up to 13%, CSI 464 up to 10%) are the wax makers' stated maximums; none is quoted for Natural Soy Pearl Wax in this series.
