CSI Wick Buying · Leaning Double Wicks
Two wicks that lean together are not at the spacing you chose. Test the fixture before the spacing and the spacing before the size, then buy one holder for every candle still setting.
₹350.00
Steel Wick Holder 5 + Candle Wick Stickers 40: the lean test before any new wick · CSI live pricing, October 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Should I change spacing or wick size when two wicks lean together? Neither, first. Leaning wicks are usually a fixture problem: the pair was set 4.0 cm apart but the tips moved while the wax set. Fix the lean, check the spacing you actually got, and only then decide whether spacing or size needs to change.

What do I buy to test it? A Steel Wick Holder pack of 5 (₹250.00) and one sheet of Candle Wick Stickers (₹100.00): ₹350.00. Re-pour three candles with your existing C2, stickers on the tabs and holders left on until the wax has set.

How many holders does production need? One per candle still setting. Holders stay on until the wax holds the wicks, so the count is candles per pour × pours that overlap while setting, plus a small allowance. In the worked example, one 20-candle pour a day needs 22 (a 25-pack, ₹1,250.00); two overlapping pours need 44 (₹2,250.00).

Is a bigger holder pack cheaper? No. Steel Wick Holders cost ₹50.00 each in packs of 5, 10 and 25. Schedule your pours so they don't overlap and you buy half the holders.
The short answer
Order of fixes: the lean (fixtures), then the spacing (with what you own), then the size (new wicks). Each step is cheaper than the next.
Test buy: Steel Wick Holder 5 (₹250.00) + Candle Wick Stickers 40 (₹100.00) = ₹350.00; three 200 g re-pour candles on your C2 cost ₹555.63 in materials.
Production count: holders = candles per pour × overlapping pours × (1 + allowance). 20 a pour, one pour a day: 22 → one 25-pack, ₹1,250.00.
Don't buy: a new wick size before the re-pour, or Wick Setting Tools for a pair line (₹7,980.00 for twenty jar positions).
How many holders a pouring day needs Worked example: 20 double-wick candles a pour; each holder stays on 6 hours, until the wax holds the wicks (time your own wax). Holders in use at each hour = candles still setting. The peak, plus a 10% allowance, is the number to buy. 0 10 20 30 40 50 08:00 10:00 12:00 14:00 16:00 18:00 20:00 22:00 holders in use pour 1 pour 2 (B) pour 2 (C) Plan B peak 40 → buy 44 Plan C peak 20 → buy 22 Plan B: pours at 09:00 and 12:00 · 25 + 10 + 10 = ₹2,250.00 Plan C: pours at 09:00 and 15:00 · one 25-pack = ₹1,250.00 Why the count matters: what an early-removed holder does (8.0 cm inside, drawn to scale, 1.5 px per mm) steel holder on Held until set 4.0 cm apart at the surface Holder off too early tips 2.5 cm apart: 38% closer Worked example, not a CSI test: time your own wax, and measure the tips at the set surface before the first burn.
Top: holders in use across one pouring day in the worked example. Every candle keeps its holder until the wax holds the wicks (six hours here; time your own wax), so a second pour started before the first has set doubles the count. Plan B peaks at 40 and needs ₹2,250.00 of holders; Plan C pours after the first batch has set and reuses them, for ₹1,250.00. Bottom: an 8.0 cm inside jar at true scale. A pair held until set stays 4.0 cm apart; the same pair with the holder lifted early can set with its tips 2.5 cm apart, and two flames that close heat the centre as one.
Straight answer
My two wicks lean toward each other and create excessive heat in the centre. Should wick spacing be changed before wick size?
Change the fixtures before either. Two wicks that lean together are no longer at the spacing you chose: in the worked example a pair set 4.0 cm apart at the base set with its tips 2.5 cm apart, 38% closer, and two flames that close commonly behave like one large flame in the middle of the jar. That is not evidence that the spacing or the size is wrong. Re-pour three candles with your existing wicks, both tabs stuck down and a Steel Wick Holder left on each jar until the wax has set (₹350.00 for a pack of 5 and a sticker sheet). If the re-poured candles hold their spacing and the centre cools, buy holders for production, one per candle still setting, and change nothing else. If straight wicks at the set spacing still over-heat the centre, the next step is a spacing test with what you own; a new wick size comes last.
One line: a holder at ₹50.00 decides whether you need a new wick at all; the count you buy is the number of candles setting at once.
The lean test order: Steel Wick Holder pack of 5 (₹250.00) and Candle Wick Stickers, 40 (₹100.00; the 100-sheet is out of stock on 1 October 2026). Both in stock on 1 October 2026. Use the C2 you already burn: no new wick until the re-pour has answered.
Steel Wick Holder — ₹250.00

Is it the lean, the spacing or the size?

Measure the candle before you light it. The spacing you set and the spacing you poured are often different numbers.

The worked example: your jar is 8.0 cm across the inside (CSI lists no 8 cm-wide jar; about 8.7 cm outside on a 0.35 cm wall), filled to 200 g with 8% Fresh Strawberries in CSI 464 (16 g + 184 g), on two Eco C2 set 4.0 cm apart: each wick 2.0 cm from the glass. You pour 20 at a time. In use, the two flames drift toward each other, the centre of the pool gets very hot and deep while the edges lag. Before buying anything, look at an unburned candle from the same pour.

Three causes, three different purchases
Read on an unburned candle and on burn 1 · our judgement, labelled
What you see Likely cause Purchase Who owns the method
Unburned candle: tips closer than the tabs, wicks bowed or crossed The lean happened while setting: holder removed early, no holder, or tabs slid Fixtures: holders counted for your pour, stickers This page
Unburned candle straight at 4.0 cm; flames drift together only once lit Burn behaviour: spacing too tight for this pair, or the pair too big Nothing yet: a spacing test with wicks you own the spacing-alone post and the spacing-ladder bill
Straight, well spaced, centre still over-heats after the spacing test Too much flame for the jar One rung down for both wicks the double-wick deep-pool retest
One wick leans, the other stays put Usually a single fixing fault or a draught on one side Nothing until rotated and re-poured uneven double wicks

Measure the tips at the set surface with a ruler: centre of one wick to centre of the other, and each to the glass. On our 8 cm example, tips 2.5 cm apart sit 2.75 cm from the glass instead of 2.0 cm: more wax left at the edge, two flames feeding one hot centre. Which way to move the spacing, and how far, is not this page's job; a template for setting it is the spacing-to-purchase-spec post.

Mistake: buying two C1 because the centre "runs hot". Why it fails: if the tips set 2.5 cm apart, two smaller flames that close can still heat the centre, and you will have bought a size to fix a fixture. Fix: check the unburned candle; if the tips moved, the purchase is holders. Argued against our own interest: a ₹250.00 pack of holders is a smaller sale than a new wick size, and it is the right first buy.

The lean test: what to buy and pour

Three candles, your own wicks, the holders left on. If the lean goes, so does the question.

If you hold the oil and wax already, the test costs ₹350.00. From nothing but your C2 and jars, it is ₹1,069.80. Each re-pour candle uses ₹67.97 of oil, ₹93.36 of wax, ₹18.88 of wicks and ₹5.00 of stickers: ₹185.21 in materials, excluding the jar, labour, freight, packaging and GST.

1
Stick both tabs at the set spacingMark the base 4.0 cm apart on a centre line, warm the jar slightly so the sticker grips, press each tab down firmly.
2
Thread the pair through the holder before pouringThe Steel Wick Holder's outer two holes, if they match your spacing; if not, two lolly sticks taped across the rim do the same job for a test. Pull each wick gently taut.
3
Pour as you normally do552 g of CSI 464 and 48 g of Fresh Strawberries, mixed once. The wax page states "Pour Temperature 80°C – 90°C"; 8% of total weight is 8.70% of wax weight, inside both the oil page's 9% and the wax page's 10%.
4
Leave the holders on until the wax holds the wicksDon't move the jars. Note the time you poured and the time the wicks would no longer move if the holder came off: that interval is your hold time, and it sets your production count.
5
Measure the tips before lightingCentre to centre at the set surface, and each wick to the glass. Straight and at 4.0 cm is a pass for the fixture.
6
Burn beside an old candleOne of the old, leaning batch next to the three re-poured ones, 3–4 hour sessions in still air, trimmed to about 5–6 mm, within sight. Compare centre depth and edge reach session by session.

Reading it is simple. Straight tips and a cooler centre: the lean was the cause; buy holders for production. Straight tips and the same hot centre: the fixture was not the cause; go to the spacing test. Tips still leaning with holders on: the wick itself is bending as it sets, a finding worth sending to us on WhatsApp with a photo.

How many holders production needs

A holder is in use from the moment you pour until the wax holds the wick. Count the hours, not the candles you make a day.

The rule is: holders = candles per pour × pours that overlap during the hold time × (1 + allowance). The allowance covers holders being cleaned, bent or mislaid; 10% is our worked-example figure. The hold time is yours, measured in step 4 above: CSI publishes no set time for its waxes, and it changes with room temperature, fill weight and the season.

Holder count by pour size · one pour at a time · 10% allowance
Steel Wick Holder ₹50.00 each in packs of 5, 10 and 25 · smallest combination that covers the count · all figures declared
Candles per pour Holders with 10% allowance Packs Cost
5 6 10 ₹500.00
10 11 10 + 5 ₹750.00
20 22 25 ₹1,250.00
30 33 25 + 10 ₹1,750.00
50 55 25 + 25 + 5 ₹2,750.00

Because the price is flat at ₹50.00 a holder, the pack you choose changes nothing per holder; pick the combination that reaches your count with the fewest spare. Holders are reusable, so this is a one-time purchase per line, not a monthly one. Spread over a single month of 440 candles, the 25-pack is ₹2.84 a candle; over a year at that rate, ₹0.24.

Holders and jar width
The Steel Wick Holder page says "Fits most jar diameters (up to 9 cm wide)". Our 8 cm inside example is inside that; a jar wider than 9 cm outside is not, and needs a different fixture. Choosing fixture types by jar and spacing is the fixture-type post.

Three pouring plans, priced

Pour twice before the first batch sets, and you have bought a second set of holders to save a few hours.

The worked example makes 20 double-wick candles a pour and measures a six-hour hold time. Three ways to schedule a day, each with the holders it needs:

Pouring plan → holder count · worked example: 20 a pour, 6-hour hold
Peak holders in use + 10% allowance · Steel Wick Holder ₹50.00 each · all figures declared
Plan Pours Peak in use Holders to buy Packs Cost
A: one pour a day 09:00 20 22 25 ₹1,250.00
B: two pours, overlapping 09:00 and 12:00 40 44 25 + 10 + 10 ₹2,250.00
C: two pours, after the first has set 09:00 and 15:00 20 22 25 ₹1,250.00

Plan B buys ₹1,000.00 more holders than Plan C for the same 40 candles a day. If your hold time is shorter, say on a cool winter day in North India, Plan B's overlap shrinks; on a warm day in the Indian summer (roughly April–June) it can grow. Re-time the hold in each season rather than assuming.

Don't buy for the peak you might have: buy for the schedule you run. If you move from one pour a day to two overlapping pours later, add 10 + 10 then; holders are flat per unit, so buying later costs nothing extra per holder. Argued against our own interest: we would rather sell you 25 holders that are all in use than 50 where half sit in a drawer.
Mistake: pulling holders early to free them for the next pour. Why it fails: that is the lean you are trying to cure, created by your own schedule. Fix: either buy the overlap's holders or move the second pour after the first has set.

Reusable holders, consumable stickers

The steel is bought once. The stickers are bought every month, and over a month they cost more.

A pair needs two base fixings per candle, every candle. At 440 double-wick candles a month (20 a day over 22 working days, a worked example), that is 880 stickers: 22 sheets of 40 at ₹100.00, ₹2,200.00 a month, or ₹5.00 a candle. The 100-sticker sheet (₹236.00) is out of stock on 1 October 2026; check before planning around it. The holders for that same line cost ₹1,250.00, once.

Fixture cost per candle · double wick · worked example
Reusable vs consumable · CSI live pricing, 1 October 2026 · all figures declared
Item Type Price Per unit Per double-wick candle
Steel Wick Holder (25) reusable, holds the pair ₹1,250.00 ₹50.00 ₹2.84 in month one; less every month after
Candle Wick Stickers (40) consumable, one per tab ₹100.00 ₹2.50 ₹5.00
Large Candle Wick Stickers (40) consumable; listing sizes contradict ₹249.00 ₹6.22 ₹12.45
Wick Setting Tool reusable, single wick per its page ₹399.00 ₹399.00 per jar position not designed for pairs
Wick Centering Device (5) reusable, one 4 mm hole ₹118.00 ₹23.60 single wick only
Bamboo Wick Holder (5) reusable; page describes holding "your wick" ₹118.00 ₹23.60 check it takes two before relying on it

Two honest points. Single-hole tools like the Wick Centering Device (₹472.00 for twenty) are cheaper per piece than steel holders but cannot hold a pair, so they are not an alternative here. And stickers only fix the base; they do not stop the top of a wick bending while the wax sets. You need both, which is why the test order has both.

From a straight pair to production wicks

If the holders cure the lean, the wick order you already had was right. Keep it.

When the re-poured candles pass, the production purchase is holders for your pour plan plus the same C2 as before, sized by the series formula: wicks = candles × wicks per candle × (1 + allowance). At 440 candles a month and a 5% allowance that is 924 C2 (₹8,722.56 at the flat ₹9.44), covered by one 500, four 100 and one 50-pack (₹8,968.00, 950 wicks). Like the holders, C2 costs the same per wick in every pack: no saving from the 1,000-pack.

Reorder point, worked example: about 42 C2 a working day; with eight working days from order to bench and five days of safety stock, reorder at about 546. The lead time is yours to measure; CSI dispatches from Pune and publishes no lead times or stock depth, so confirm dispatch on WhatsApp before a festive run. Diwali is 8 November 2026.

An approval still needs the full life: the re-poured candles should burn to about 1 cm left with the centre in check before you scale the pour. Whether the centre stays in check through the final third is a burn question, not a fixture question; the cluster hub lists which symptoms justify which purchase.

Don't buy a new size "while you're at it": if the fixture test passes, a C1 20-pack (₹118.00) bought alongside it becomes test stock with no test. Buy it only when straight wicks at the set spacing still over-heat. Argued against our own interest: the cheapest wick order on this page is the one you don't place.

What to buy, and what to skip

Five items, chosen on page statements, price and stock on 1 October 2026. CSI publishes no fixture or wick-performance data, so nothing here is ranked on burn results. Oil candle counts use 16 g per 200 g candle and the standard 12 g per 150 g candle.

Steel Wick Holder (Set of 5)
The fixture this page counts. The page lists "3-hole layout fits single, double, or triple wick setups", "Fits most jar diameters (up to 9 cm wide)" and "Keeps the wick upright and centered during the entire curing process": the last line is the whole point. An 8 cm inside jar is about 8.7 cm outside on our wall assumption, inside the stated 9 cm. The holes are in a line and the text we captured states no hole spacing, so measure the outer two against your 4.0 cm before ordering 25 (or ask us). Per holder it is ₹50.00 in every pack: there is no bulk saving, so buy the count, not the bigger pack.

The Large Candle Wick Stickers (₹249.00 for 40, ₹6.22 each) has a listing that says "2mm", "20mm" and "10mm" in different places, so check before buying. CSI lists no wick glue.

A magnetic tool: "Place the magnetic base of the tool under your candle jar", "Set the metal bar on top of the jar", "Gently nudge the wick to the center". The page says it "Speeds up candle production — ideal for batch making". Argued against our own interest: its page describes one wick nudged to the centre, not a pair, and it holds one jar while that jar sets, so a 20-candle pour would need twenty (₹7,980.00) against ₹1,250.00 of steel holders. For a double-wick line we would not buy it; for single-wick centring see the single-wick centring post.

The 50 g bottle covers the three-candle re-pour with 2 g to spare: tight, so weigh carefully. The 500 g and 1 kg are both ₹3.54 a gram, so the 1 kg saves nothing per gram over the 500 g.

Only if straight wicks at the set spacing still over-heat the centre does the size question open, and then the first purchase is a C1 20-pack (₹118.00; the 10-pack is out of stock) for a two-C1 arm, as in the double-wick deep-pool retest. The CSI principle
Fix the lean before the spacing, and the spacing before the size.
A ₹350.00 fixture test decides whether you need a new wick at all. Production holders = candles setting at once, plus a small allowance, at ₹50.00 each in any pack.
"Two wicks that lean together are one wick with two tabs. Hold them straight until the wax can."

Why trust this guide

CandleMakingSuppliesIndia sells the holders, stickers, wicks, oil and wax named here, and does not sell finished candles. This page still tells you to fix a fixture before buying a new wick, that bigger holder packs save nothing per holder, that our Wick Setting Tool's page describes a single wick, and that we list no 8 cm-wide jar.

Every price was verified on CSI's live store on 1 October 2026. Stock was checked per size: the 100-sticker sheet and the Eco C1 10-pack are out of stock on that date and are flagged wherever they appear; every other size shown is in stock. Product wording is quoted from the pages; where a page is silent in the text we captured (hole spacing, set times), we say so.

The 8.0 cm jar, the 4.0 cm and 2.5 cm spacings, the 20-candle pour, the six-hour hold time, the pouring plans, the 10% fixture allowance, the 440-candle month and the lead time are worked examples; the order of fixes is our judgement. Frequently asked questions

Why do my two candle wicks lean towards each other?
Most often they moved while the wax was setting: no holder, a holder taken off too early, tabs that slid on the base, or jars moved before they set. Check an unburned candle: if the tips are closer than the tabs, it is a fixture problem, not a wick size problem.
How long should I keep a wick holder on a candle?
Until the wax holds the wick on its own. CSI publishes no set time for its waxes; time your own, in your room, and re-time it in summer and winter. Many makers leave holders on until the candle has fully set.
How many wick holders do I need for candle production?
One per candle still setting: candles per pour × pours that overlap during the hold time, plus a small allowance. One 20-candle pour a day needs about 22; two overlapping pours need about 44.
Can one wick holder hold two wicks?
CSI's Steel Wick Holder page describes a "3-hole layout" for single, double or triple wicks, with the holes in a line; the hole spacing isn't stated in the text we captured, so measure it against your spacing. Single-hole holders like the Wick Centering Device hold one wick only.
Should I change wick spacing or wick size first in a double wick candle?
Fixtures first, then spacing, then size. Spacing can be tested with wicks you already own; a new size means a new purchase and a new test. Change size only if straight wicks at a tested spacing still over-heat the centre.
Are wick stickers enough to stop wicks leaning?
No. Stickers fix the tab to the base; the top of the wick can still bend while the wax sets. Use a sticker on each tab and a holder across the jar until the wax has set.
Two wicks leaning together
Holders 5 + stickers 40 = ₹350.00: test the fixture before the wick.
Re-pour three candles with your existing wicks, tabs stuck down and holders left on until set. Measure the tips before lighting. If the lean goes, buy holders for your pour plan, one per candle setting at once, and keep your wick. Tell us your pour size and schedule on WhatsApp and we will check the count.

About this guide: part of CSI's cluster on tunnelling, flame, soot and melt-pool symptoms and what they justify buying (5541–5560). It owns the fixture count for double-wick production when two wicks lean together: why fixtures come before spacing and size, a three-candle lean test, the holders-per-pour formula, three pouring plans priced, reusable versus consumable fixtures, and the step to production wicks.

Non-price figures: load is a percentage of total candle weight (200 g at 8% = 16 g oil + 184 g wax; the standard 150 g candle at 8% = 12 g oil + 138 g wax). The 8.0 cm inside diameter, the 0.35 cm wall, the 4.0 cm set spacing and the 2.5 cm leaned spacing are worked-example inputs; wick-to-wall = r − s/2. Ceilings are as the pages state (Fresh Strawberries 6–9% for candles; CSI 464 up to 10%, pour 80–90°C; the lower governs): formulation limits, not regulatory ones. Hold time, pour sizes, schedules, the 10% fixture allowance, the 5% wick allowance, the 440-candle month and the lead time are editorial worked examples. Costs exclude jars, labour, freight, packaging and GST. Diwali 8 November 2026 and Christmas 25 December 2026 are calendar facts.
