A luxury brand pays more per kilogram for a premium wax. The useful number is not the kilogram — it is the extra cost inside one finished candle, which is smaller than most people think.

Moving a 200 g candle from CSI 464 to CSI 468 adds ₹23.85 of wax. A luxury candle priced ₹200–₹500 above a standard one earns that back many times — if the jar, label and scent justify the price.
Where a luxury candle's money goes: oil, load and a wax you can reorder
Once you see how little the premium wax adds per candle, the next question is where the real cost of a luxury candle sits. For most scented candles, it is not in the wax.
Oil costs far more per kilogram than wax
Dark Vanilla is ₹7,646.00 per kilogram. Premium Coconut Soy Wax CSI 468 (flakes) is ₹637.00 per kilogram from 5 kg. The oil kilogram costs about twelve times the wax kilogram (7,646 ÷ 637). A 200 g candle at 8% holds only 16 g of oil against 184 g of wax, yet with a premium scent the oil inside the candle can match or pass the wax inside it.
Load is a pricing decision too
CSI 468 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks both state loads up to 13%. Pushing from 8% towards that limit is often presented as the luxury move. It is also the costly one: with an expensive oil, a few extra percentage points can cost more than the entire upgrade from standard to premium wax. Test whether the throw actually improves in your jar before you price a higher load into the range. And remember that 13% is a formulation limit, not a target.
Choose a wax you can reorder
Premium Coconut Soy Wax, the soy and virgin coconut oil blend, is listed only in 500 g and 1 kg bags, at ₹920.00 per kilogram. That is workable for a limited edition. For a signature candle you plan to sell for years, it means buying 1 kg at a time with no larger listed size. CSI 468 is listed to 10 kg and publishes its melt point, pour temperature, load and shelf life, which matters when a brand has to reproduce the same candle order after order.
Premium lives in the process
Luxury buyers notice a rough top or a sunken centre long before they notice the wax name. A premium wax earns its place only when the process around it is steady: the stated 58–60°C pour for CSI 468, the same jar temperature every time, the same cure before sale.
