You make 30 to 150 candles a month from home and want wholesale economics without wholesale minimums. This page prices the mid packs against the biggest pack on the site, to the paisa, then builds the monthly order that follows.
0.30%
what a full 100-candle month costs extra bought entirely in small and mid packs · ₹78.30 on ₹25,748.64 · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
Do I need a minimum order for wholesale pricing? No. On the lines a small maker buys, the per-unit price is flat across pack sizes: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg and at 10 kg; Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) are ₹5.90 a wick at 10 and at 1,000.

So what does buying small cost me? On the worked month below, ₹78.30 — 78 paise a candle, 0.30% of a ₹25,748.64 order.

What should I standardise on? One wax, two wick sizes, one jar family, four scents — widening that stalls small candle businesses, not unit price. Trial every new scent at 15 g, from ₹68.44: at a 10% load on a 150 g candle that is exactly one full-size test candle.
The short answer
Buy mid packs, not drums: 5 kg of wax, 100 g and 500 g of fragrance, 10 or 20 jars, 50 or 100 wicks. The penalty against the largest pack on the site is ₹78.30 over a 100-candle month.
Standardise hard: one wax, two wick sizes, one jar family, four scents. Ten scents instead of four parks ₹8,849.04 in standing stock — 113 months of that pack-size penalty.
Use the trial sizes: testing six new scents as finished candles costs ₹1,657.09; stocking the same six costs ₹8,849.04 before you sell one.
Dead stock, not unit price — cash standing still at four scents versus ten Monthly order · everything ₹25,748.64 — 100 candles of wax, oil, jars, wicks, labels Fragrance stock · 4 scents ₹5,160.84 standing · turns in under a month Fragrance stock · 10 scents ₹14,009.88 standing · two months' cover Extra cash parked ₹8,849.04 — 34.4% of one month's entire order Standing stock = 300 g per scent, one pour of twenty candles. Bars to scale against the monthly order value.
The pack-size penalty for buying small is ₹78.30 a month. The capital penalty for six extra scents is ₹8,849.04 — 113 months of pack-size penalty, parked in one afternoon.
Straight answer
How does a small candle business buy wholesale in India without a large minimum order?
By buying mid pack sizes across a deliberately narrow range, because at CSI the per-unit price barely moves with pack size. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg — identical. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹299/500g are ₹1.90/kg cheaper than the 10 kg bag. Eco Candle Wicks cost the same per wick at 10 and at 1,000; 150 g jars are ₹94.40 each at 10 and at 20. Run a 100-candle month in small and mid packs and the penalty against the best rate on the site is ₹78.30 — 78 paise a candle. Then standardise: one wax, two wick sizes, one jar family, four scents — and trial everything new at 15 g before it becomes stock. Your real enemy at this size is cash standing still. See also the raw material list, how to price candles in India and whether candle making is profitable.
One line: at this size money is lost on stock that does not move, not on unit price — so buy mid packs, narrow the range, trial at 15 g.
The cheapest way to be wrong about a scent. 15 g packs start at ₹68.44 — one finished 150 g test candle.

The MOQ myth, priced to the paisa

The word "wholesale" carries a picture with it — a 25 kg drum, a 500-piece jar order, a minimum invoice value. That picture has cost small Indian candle businesses more than any price has.

Makers at this size say they are waiting to grow before they "start buying properly", and meanwhile price as though they pay retail. At CSI the per-unit price on the lines a small maker needs is flat across pack sizes, or close enough that it does not belong in a business decision. The evidence, from live pricing on 10 September 2026:

Pack size vs per-unit price · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Where the volume break is real, and where there is no break at all
Line Small / mid pack Largest pack Penalty for buying small
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 1 kg ₹507.40 → ₹507.40/kg 10 kg ₹5,074.00 → ₹507.40/kg ₹0.00 — nothing at all
Same wax, smallest pack 500 g ₹260.00 → ₹520.00/kg 10 kg → ₹507.40/kg ₹12.60/kg — 2.4%
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 500 g ₹299.00 → ₹598.00/kg 10 kg ₹5,999.00 → ₹599.90/kg Negative. The 500 g is ₹1.90/kg cheaper
Natural Soy Pearl Wax 5 kg ₹2,124.00 → ₹424.80/kg 50 kg ₹21,240.00 → ₹424.80/kg ₹0.00. The break lands at 5 kg; the drum adds nothing
Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) 50 wicks ₹295.00 → ₹5.90 each 1,000 wicks ₹5,900.00 → ₹5.90 each ₹0.00 at every one of six pack sizes
Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid 150 g Pack of 10 ₹944.00 → ₹94.40 each Pack of 20 ₹1,888.00 → ₹94.40 each ₹0.00
Fresh Strawberries fragrance oil 500 g ₹1,770.00 → ₹3.54/g 1 kg ₹3,540.00 → ₹3.54/g ₹0.00 — the 500 g already holds the 1 kg rate
Same oil, 100 g pack 100 g ₹377.60 → ₹3.776/g 1 kg → ₹3.54/g ₹0.236/g — 6.2%
200ml Salsa Glass Jar 5 pcs ₹200.60 → ₹40.12 each 50 pcs ₹1,475.00 → ₹29.50 each ₹10.62 each — 26.5%. A real break, fully captured at 50
Performance Wooden Wicks Pack of 10 ₹590.00 → ₹59.00 each Pack of 100 ₹4,130.00 → ₹41.30 each ₹17.70 each — 30%
Read that table in both directions. Five of the ten lines have no volume break at all, so the big pack is pure storage cost and parked cash. Two break worth chasing — salsa jars at 26.5% and wooden wicks at 30%. One runs backwards: 500 g Luxury Soy Wax Chunks is cheaper per kilogram than the 10 kg bag. The rule is not "big is cheaper" but "check the line".

Now apply it to a whole month. The order in the next section is ₹25,748.64 in small and mid packs. Rebuild the same month at the cheapest per-unit rate on the site — 1 kg on every oil — and it is ₹25,670.34. The difference is ₹78.30, all fragrance: 78 paise per candle, 0.30% of the order, ₹939.60 a year. Less than three 150 g jars.

The decision rule
Buy the pack matching four to six weeks of consumption, not the best per-unit rate. The exceptions are salsa jars at 50 and wooden wicks at 50 or 100.

The small-business buying pattern, itemised

The pattern is four decisions, after which you stop deciding: one wax, two wick sizes, one jar family, four scents.

1
One waxLuxury Soy Wax CSI 464 flakes, ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg alike, stated ceiling up to 10% — a wax-manufacturer formulation limit, not a regulatory one. One wax means one pour temperature, one wick chart, one set of results. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks are the alternative, rated up to 13% from ₹299/500g.
2
Two wick sizesEco Candle Wicks Thick (C2) at ₹9.44 each as the production wick, Thin (C1) at ₹5.90 for testing. Two sizes runs a burn test; three is a research project. The wick guide by diameter says which your jar wants.
3
One jar familyClear with Golden Lid at ₹94.40 each, or Black with Black Lid, red, pink and orange at ₹107.00. One fill weight, one wick, one label size, one box — four colourways. Variety the customer sees, sameness you run.
4
Four scentsOne fruity or gourmand lead, one floral, one woody, one fresh — below, Fresh Strawberries, Lavender, Sandalwood, Citrus Lemon. The slots matter more than the names. A fifth scent does not add a customer; it adds a jar of oil.

The month below: 100 candles, 150 g fill, 10% load — 135 g wax and 15 g oil each, scents splitting 40 / 30 / 20 / 10 by sales.

One month · 100 candles · 150 g fill · 10% load
Every line, every pack, every rupee
Line What you buy Quantity Cost

Wick stickers Candle Wick Stickers, 3 sheets of 40 120 stickers ₹300.00
Care labels Candle Care Stickers Roll, 1 inch 500 (5 months' cover) ₹413.00
Total ordered All of the above, in small and mid packs ₹25,748.64
Consumed this month Total less wax, oil, wicks and labels carried forward ₹1,698.50 carried ₹24,050.14
Materials per candle Wax ₹68.50 · oil ₹64.84 · jar ₹94.40 · wick ₹9.44 · labels ₹3.32 ÷ 100 ₹240.50
Not included: labour, packaging, courier, or the bench kit you buy once — pen thermometer ₹354, weighing scale ₹354, 600 ml steel pitcher ₹708, CSI Pro Mixer ₹349, bamboo stirrers ₹118 — ₹1,883.00. Price from ₹240.50: see how to price candles in India and what it costs to start.

Scale it and nothing structural changes. At 30 candles a month: 4.05 kg of wax — one 5 kg pack at ₹2,537.00, identical per kilogram — 450 g of oil, 30 jars, 50 wicks. At 150 candles: 20.25 kg, the 10 kg pack twice instead of the 5 kg three times, at the same ₹507.40 per kilogram. There is no threshold where the economics improve.

Four scents beats ten, and it is not close

Nobody's candle business failed because they paid 6.2% too much for a 100 g pack of fragrance. Plenty have stalled with ₹14,000 of slow-moving oil on a shelf.

Every scent has a floor under it: to keep one orderable you must be able to pour it — one pour of twenty candles, 300 g of oil at a 10% load on a 150 g candle. That 300 g is standing stock, sitting there whether the scent sells or not.

Four scents at 300 g each, using the four above: Fresh Strawberries ₹1,132.80, Lavender ₹1,620.00, Sandalwood ₹1,508.04, Citrus Lemon ₹900.00 — ₹5,160.84 of standing fragrance stock, which turns over in well under a month against 1,500 g of consumption. Now add the six every maker wants to add, at the same floor: Vanilla Bean ₹2,370.00, Woody Oud ₹1,359.36, British Rose ₹1,026.60, Apple Cinnamon ₹1,423.08, Roasted Coffee ₹1,170.00, Japanese Cherry Blossom ₹1,500.00. That is ₹8,849.04 more, for a total of ₹14,009.88.

The CSI principle
₹78.30 is what pack size costs you in a month. ₹8,849.04 is what six extra scents cost you once — and it stays gone until they sell.
You would have to chase bulk pricing for 113 consecutive months to lose what one over-wide range parks in a single afternoon. That ₹8,849.04 is 34.4% of your entire monthly order, sitting still. It is thirty-five 150 g jars and the wax to fill them, unbought.

Turn rate says it more brutally. At four scents, 1,500 g of monthly consumption against 1,200 g of standing stock refills the shelf about once a month — the cash cycles. At ten, the same consumption over 3,000 g is two months' cover, and the bottom four scents sit.

The second-order cost is worse than the oil. Ten scents is ten label artworks, ten photo sets, ten listings, ten stock levels and ten reasons to hesitate on the product page — each getting a tenth of your marketing attention. Take shelf variety from the jar colourway instead: four scents across four colourways is sixteen SKUs the customer sees and four you buy. One exception: a seasonal fifth bought against a date and sold out by it. Diwali 2026 falls on 8 Novembertiming here.

Test sizes are the single most useful thing a small maker can exploit

There are 92 oils in the CSI fragrance range, most in five sizes, and the two smallest exist for one reason: so you can find out whether a scent works in your wax, jar and wick before you commit stock to it. That is your biggest advantage over a larger maker locked into a range, and it costs almost nothing to use.

The arithmetic is clean. At a 10% load on a 150 g candle, a 15 g pack is exactly one finished test candle. A 50 g pack is three. Across the range, 15 g sizes run ₹68.44Eucalyptus Spearmint — to ₹216.00, and 50 g sizes ₹170.00 for Citrus Lemon to ₹1,203.00. Not every oil offers 15 g; the designer and BBW-inspired ones commonly start at 50 g.

Trial six scents vs stock six scents
The same six oils, two ways
Oil 15 g trial pack 300 g standing stock Difference
Vanilla Bean ₹130.00 ₹2,370.00 ₹2,240.00
Woody Oud ₹93.22 ₹1,359.36 ₹1,266.14
British Rose ₹94.40 ₹1,026.60 ₹932.20
Apple Cinnamon ₹93.22 ₹1,423.08 ₹1,329.86
Roasted Coffee ₹93.22 ₹1,170.00 ₹1,076.78
Japanese Cherry Blossom ₹104.00 ₹1,500.00 ₹1,395.86
All six ₹608.06 ₹8,849.04 ₹8,240.98

Add the rest of the candle: 810 g of CSI 464 at ₹410.99, six 150 g jars at ₹566.40, six C2 wicks at ₹56.64, six wick stickers at ₹15.00. Six finished, saleable, full-size test candles for ₹1,657.09 — 18.7% of what the oil alone would cost to stock.

How to run the trial properly
Order the 15 g packs together and pour one of each in your production jar, with your production wick, at your production load — never a tealight or sample tin, because the jar and wick are half the result. Cure together, burn one at a time, promote at most one, and only by replacing the weakest of your four.

GST, invoicing and input credit, in one paragraph

Give the supplier two things before the invoice is raised: your GSTIN and the registered legal name of your business, exactly as it appears on your registration certificate — not your brand name, not your Instagram handle, because an invoice with a wrong name or mistyped GSTIN is one you cannot use. Back comes a tax invoice showing the taxable value and the GST as a separate line rather than buried in the total. If you are GST-registered, that GST is input tax credit against the GST you collect on sales, so your true wax-and-oil cost is the pre-tax figure. If you are not registered — most makers at this size are not — you cannot claim it, and you must price from the tax-inclusive number or you will quietly under-price every candle. Either way, keep the invoices: they prove material cost, substantiate a wholesale quote, and trace a batch back to a purchase. CSI issues GST invoices as standard, with MSDS and IFRA documentation on request via WhatsApp. None of this is tax advice; near a registration threshold, ask an accountant.

Growing out of it — and what not to buy from us yet

Four signals say the bigger pack has earned its place. None is "I feel ready".

1
One scent has consumed 500 g or more for three consecutive monthsCheck that oil; the 1 kg break is not universal. Fresh Strawberries is ₹3.54/g at 500 g and at 1 kg — no gain. Eucalyptus Spearmint drops ₹3.304 to ₹3.068/g, 7.1%; British Rose ₹3.186 to ₹3.068/g, 3.7%.
2
You are reordering the same jar more than twice a monthMove to the pack of 20 for freight and handling — the 150 g family is ₹94.40 either way — or to a family that does break: salsa jars ₹40.12 to ₹29.50 at 50, Mini Glass Jars ₹25.96 to ₹21.24 at 100.
3
You have a pre-sold order with a purchase order behind itA corporate Diwali hamper run or a repeat wedding-favour contract is the only case where a 500-piece jar order makes sense at this size, because it is already sold. Against a hope it is speculation; against a signed order it is working capital working.
4
You have had zero dead SKUs for two consecutive quartersNothing on the shelf older than ninety days, nothing you have quietly stopped listing. Until then, capacity only adds stock. Scaling to 1,000 orders a month is a different problem.

Now the part a supplier is not supposed to write. What not to buy from CSI at 30 to 150 candles a month — we would rather sell you wax every month for five years than equipment once.

Not the big wax melter. The 20-litre Electric Wax Melter at ₹23,600 is almost exactly the value of your whole monthly materials order, and at 13.5 kg a month you melt less in four weeks than it holds in one fill. The 1-litre Mini Electric Wax Melter at ₹2,360 does the job.

Not the 50 kg drum. Natural Soy Pearl Wax at 50 kg is ₹21,240.00 — ₹424.80/kg, identical to the 5 kg pack at ₹2,124.00. ₹19,116 in advance for zero discount and a storage problem in an Indian summer.

Not the ₹24,056/kg designer oil. Club De Nuit Intense inspired is ₹24.06/g — at a 10% load on a 150 g candle, ₹360.84 of fragrance in one candle, past ₹533 in materials with wax, jar and wick. Superb if your retail price carries it; a beautiful way to lose money if it does not.

Not a colour wall. The Candle Dyes collection runs to 25 products; ten 15 ml shades is ₹2,360.00 parked in colour. Buy one, or none.

At 30 to 150 candles a month your constraint is not unit price. It is how fast a rupee turns into a candle and back into a rupee. Every oversized pack, extra scent and early equipment purchase slows that cycle — and the cycle is the business.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. The convenient version of this page would tell you to buy the 10 kg bag, the 1 kg oil and the 1,000-wick pack. We published the arithmetic showing those save you nothing on most of our own lines, and named five things not to buy from us yet.

Every price here is from live CSI stock on 10 September 2026 and links to the product page, which is always authoritative. Fragrance load ceilings — up to 10% for CSI 464, up to 13% for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks — are the wax manufacturers' stated formulation limits, not regulatory limits.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum order value for wholesale candle supplies at CSI?
No. Every listed pack size is sold on its own, and on most lines the per-unit price does not move with pack size: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40/kg at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg, and Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) are ₹5.90 a wick from 10 up to 1,000. For more, ask on WhatsApp.
What does a month of candle supplies cost for a small business in India?
For 100 candles at a 150 g fill and a 10% load, the order above is ₹25,748.64 — 15 kg of wax, 1.55 kg of fragrance across four scents, 100 jars with lids, 150 wicks, wick stickers and a roll of care labels. That is ₹240.50 of materials per candle, with ₹1,698.50 carrying into next month. Labour, packaging and courier are separate.
How many fragrance scents should a small candle business stock?
Four. One sweet or fruity, one floral, one woody, one fresh. Ten at a 300 g working minimum parks ₹14,009.88 in standing stock against ₹5,160.84 for four — a gap of ₹8,849.04, or 34.4% of a month's order. Take shelf variety from jar colourways instead.
Are 15 g fragrance oil sizes worth buying for a business?
At a 10% load on a 150 g candle, 15 g is exactly one finished test candle, and 15 g packs start at ₹68.44. Trialling six new scents as full-size candles costs ₹1,657.09 including wax, jars and wicks, against ₹8,849.04 to stock them. Test in your production jar and wick, or it tells you nothing.
What do I need to give a supplier to get a GST invoice?
Your GSTIN and registered business name exactly as they appear on your registration certificate, before the invoice is raised. You then get a tax invoice with GST as a separate line. If you are registered, that GST is input tax credit against the GST you collect on sales; if not, it is simply part of your material cost.
