Wax melts
Wax melts can carry more fragrance than candles — several CSI oils state 10–15% for melts. The wax's job is to hold it without sweating.
10–15%
wax-melt fragrance load stated on several CSI oil pages (e.g. Lavender, Dark Vanilla)
Quick answers — read this first
Best wax for wax melts in India? A firm wax that holds 10% oil: Soy Pillar Wax, soy plus 3–5% micro, or paraffin.

How much fragrance in wax melts? Several CSI oils state 10–15% for melts; test at 10%.

Hard or soft wax for melts? In between — firm enough to release and ship.

Does CSI sell a melt wax? No dedicated one; several waxes in the range work.

Best Wax for Strong Fragrance Throw in Wax Melts
Use a firm wax that holds about 10% fragrance and releases cleanly — Soy Pillar Wax, container soy hardened with 3–5% microcrystalline, or paraffin. CSI has no dedicated melt wax; test first.
One line: melt throw: fragrance load, oil choice and warmer — not only the wax.

Melts can carry more fragrance than candles. The wax has to hold it.

Honest note. CSI does not list a wax designed specifically for wax melts, and no CSI wax page publishes a melt-specific fragrance load. Test your chosen wax at 10% before a run.

Oils and loads

Oils
Candle oils whose product pages state a wax-melt load
Oil Stated load (candles; melts stated 10–15% on several) 1 kg
Lavender 6–10% in candles ₹5,221.00
Roasted Coffee 6–10% in candles ₹3,738.00
Dark Vanilla 6–10% in candles ₹7,646.00
Citrus Lemon 6–10% in candles ₹2,832.00
Woody Oud 6–10% in candles ₹4,531.20
Dark Vanilla Oud 6–10% in candles ₹5,691.00

Ramp the load until the melt sweats, then step back

More fragrance gives more throw, up to a point. Past it, oil stops staying in the wax and starts sitting on the surface. The strongest melt you can sell is the one just below that point, in your wax, with your oil. You find it with a ladder test.

The ladder

Choose one wax and one oil whose page states a melt load. Lavender, Dark Vanilla and Citrus Lemon each state 10–15% for wax melts. Pour small batches at 10%, 12% and 15% of the total batch: in a 200 g batch that is 20 g, 24 g and 30 g of oil. Label them, seal them in the packaging you will use, and leave them at room temperature for a week.

Then look. The first level that shows oil beading, a wet sheen or a greasy mark on the clamshell is too high. Your working load is the step below it. If even 10% sweats, the problem is the wax, not the oil, and a firmer base is the fix.

Using a candle load chart for melts. Jasmine and Sandalwood state up to 10% in soy and up to 6% in paraffin for candles, with no melt figure. Without a stated melt load, stay within those candle figures, or ask CSI before going higher.

Throw is not only the wax

Three other things change how strong a melt seems. The oil: some scents carry across a room at a modest load, others need more. Compare oils at the same load before blaming the wax. The warmer: a warmer that runs hotter releases scent faster and uses the melt up sooner, while a gentler one gives a softer, longer throw. Test in the kind of warmer your customers own, and tell them which suits your melts. The room: a small closed bedroom and an open living room with a ceiling fan are different tests. Use the same room for every comparison.

Rest before judging

Let every ladder sample rest for the same number of days before the warmer test. Fresh melts can mislead in either direction.

Reading a maximum as a target. A stated 15% is the most the oil is formulated to carry, not a level every melt should reach, and it is not a regulatory limit. If 12% throws well and stays dry, 12% is your load, and your oil lasts longer.
Summer ladder
Repeat the ladder once in April or May. A load that stays dry in winter may sweat in a hot parcel, and you may want a lower summer recipe.

Argue against interest
We do not sell a wax-melt wax, so we will not pretend to.
Several of our waxes work well for melts. We would rather tell you which, and how to test, than rename one.
Price the candle, not the kilogram.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. We publish every pack price, so every per-kilogram and per-candle figure here can be checked against the product pages — including the ones that show a bigger bag is not cheaper.

Prices are taken from live CSI stock in September 2026. Where a product page does not publish a specification, this guide says so rather than filling the gap.

Order plans add a 5% wastage allowance (10% where stated for festive buffers). "Cheapest listed packs" is the lowest-cost combination of listed pack sizes, preferring fewer bags when prices tie within a few rupees. Candle counts are rounded down. Costs are core materials only and exclude jar, label, packaging, labour, freight and GST unless stated. Wax stated fragrance maximums are the wax maker's formulation limits, not regulatory limits.
