A bulk mould order is not stock — it is daily capacity. Every CSI pillar mould you add pours one more pillar per pour, and every 40-cavity tray adds forty small pieces, so this guide works out how many moulds a production target really needs and what that costs.

Quick answers — read this first
Is there a bulk price on candle moulds? Every CSI mould is listed as a single unit with no multi-pack variant, so 20 moulds cost 20 × the listed price. Quotes for large or repeat orders are handled on WhatsApp.

How many moulds do I need? Moulds = daily target ÷ (cavities × pours per day), rounded up, plus one spare. At one pour a day, 60 pieces is 2 × 40 Cavity Square (₹944) or 60 × Polycarbonate Pillar Candle Mould (₹56,569.20).

Which moulds give the most output per rupee? Multi-cavity trays: 55 Cavity Coffee Bean ₹177 (₹3.22 a cavity), 40 Cavity Square ₹472 (₹11.80), Cloud 30 ₹529.82 (₹17.66). Single moulds cost one mould per piece per pour.

When should I buy duplicates? Only for a shape that has already sold through a test batch — and buy one spare of any shape your line depends on, because several mould listings were sold out when checked.
The short answer
Start from a daily number: pieces per day ÷ (cavities × pours per day) = moulds. Plan on one pour a day until you have timed your own demoulds.
Trays for volume, singles for margin: ₹2,360 of 40-cavity trays pours 200 pieces; ₹18,856.40 of pillar moulds pours 20 pillars. Both can be right — price the finished piece before you choose.
Duplicate proven shapes, not new ones: three designs × seven moulds beats twenty designs × one mould for output, consistency and packing.

Same target, very different orders. Sixty small pieces a day take two ₹472 trays; sixty pillars a day take sixty ₹942.82 moulds. Moulds are rounded up to whole trays, so the tray rows pour more than 60. Replace "one pour a day" with your own timed demould before you order.
Straight answer
How do I buy candle moulds in bulk in India, and how many do I actually need?
Work backwards from output. Every CSI mould is sold as a single unit at a listed price, so a bulk order is simply a count — and the count comes from pieces per day ÷ (cavities × pours per day), rounded up, plus a spare. For small pieces, multi-cavity trays are the cheapest capacity you can buy: the 40 Cavity Square Moulds pour 40 pieces for ₹472, so five trays (₹2,360) give 200 pieces per pour, and the 55 Cavity Coffee Bean Mould is ₹177 for 55 embeds. For pillars, a rigid mould pours one candle: the Polycarbonate Pillar Candle Mould (16.3 cm × 4.1 cm, ₹942.82), the Ribbed Polycarbonate Pillar Mould (21.5 cm candle, ₹942.82) and the Twisted Taper (₹942.82) each add one pillar a pour, so twenty pillars a day at one pour is ₹18,856.40 of moulds and about 3.6 kg of Soy Pillar Wax a day if each pillar weighs near our 194 g estimate. Buy duplicates only of shapes that have already sold through a test batch, add one spare of any shape a product line depends on, and send any order of twenty or more moulds, or a repeat monthly list, to WhatsApp for a quote and GST invoice.
One line: set a daily target, divide by cavities per pour, round up, add a spare — trays make small pieces cheaply, pillar moulds cost one mould per pillar per pour.
Scaling output? 40 Cavity Square ₹472, 55 Cavity Coffee Bean ₹177, Polycarbonate Pillar Candle Mould ₹942.82 and Soy Pillar Wax at ₹600/kg to 10 kg — buy the exact count you need, and ask on WhatsApp once the count gets large.

Bulk moulds are daily capacity, not stock

Wax runs out. Moulds do not — they sit on the bench and decide, every single day, how many pieces you are able to make.

When a candle business buys 10 kg of wax in bulk, it is buying something it will use up. When it buys twenty moulds, it is buying a ceiling: the most pieces it can pour in a day, whatever the order book says. That changes how you should decide the quantity. Wax is bought against forecast sales; moulds are bought against a daily production target you have chosen and can actually staff, pack and sell.

The arithmetic has three inputs. Cavities per mould is stated in the title of most trays and is one for every pillar and designer single. Pours per day depends on how quickly your wax sets hard enough to release cleanly in your room — CSI mould pages do not state it, so this guide uses one pour a day as a planning default. And the target is yours. Divide, round up to whole moulds, and add one spare so a torn tray or a sticky pillar mould does not cut a day's output.

Read the table as a business-model choice, not a shopping list. A two-hundred-a-day wax-melt operation needs ₹2,360 of trays and a lot of wax, colour, fragrance and packing labour. A two-hundred-a-day pillar operation needs ₹1,88,564 of moulds before any of that. Most small Indian candle businesses therefore run a mixed bench: a few trays that turn out high-volume small pieces for sets and add-ons, and a smaller, carefully chosen count of single moulds for the candles that carry the margin. Pricing those two kinds of product is covered in how to price candles in India.

The mistake: twenty designs, one mould each. It looks like a bigger catalogue. In production it is twenty separate wax weights, twenty wick decisions, twenty packaging sizes and a maximum of one piece per design per pour — so one customer ordering eight of one shape takes more than a week of that shape's output. Three proven designs with seven moulds each give 21 pillars a pour, one wick and box per design, and the ability to say yes to a bulk order — for ₹19,799.22 of moulds against ₹18,856.40 for twenty singles. For almost the same money, the second bench is the one that ships.

Multi-cavity trays: the most output per rupee

If the product is small — wax melts, embeds to set into the top of a container candle, favour-sized shapes for hampers — a multi-cavity tray is the cheapest production capacity in candle making. The two below are workhorse high-count trays; the Mini Heart Mould (55 cavities of 0.6 inch, ₹153.40) and 15 Cavity Rose Moulds (₹153.40) sit alongside them for smaller detail pieces.

40 Cavity Square Moulds
Forty square cavities in one silicone tray, and the tray CSI customers have reviewed — Radhaa S rates it 5 stars: "Very good". The page states it is made of food-grade silicone, rated −40°C to 220°C, with a "special design for easy cube release and no leaks", and recommends hand washing. It does not state cavity dimensions, so the first job with a bulk order is to weigh one full pour. Five trays make 200 pieces per pour for ₹2,360 — enough for 33 boxes of six from a single pour, before a spare.

55 Cavity Coffee Bean Mould
Fifty-five coffee beans for ₹177 — the natural companion to a coffee-scented container candle, where a few beans set into the surface make the scent visible on the shelf. The page gives the mould size two ways (18.5 × 1.4 × 9.9 cm and 18.5 × 11 × 1.4 cm), so check the width against your drying rack before ordering a stack, and it asks you to clean it with hot water before each use. At ₹3.22 a cavity, four moulds give 220 beans a pour for ₹708. If your gourmand range leans on coffee, vanilla vs coffee covers which gourmand has the wider audience.

A tray is only cheap capacity if every cavity comes out usable. Before you order ten, calibrate one — it takes a single afternoon and gives you the three numbers a bulk order needs: wax per pour, demould time and reject rate.

1
Weigh the tray empty, fill it, weigh againPour your wax to the brim of every cavity and weigh. The difference is wax per pour; divide by the cavity count for wax per piece. This replaces the dimensions most tray pages do not state.
2
Time the releaseTry one cavity at intervals. Note the earliest time every piece releases with sharp edges — that is your real cycle, and it decides whether two pours a day is possible in your room.
3
Count the rejectsChipped corners, air pockets and cloudy faces go in a separate pile to be remelted. Good pieces per pour — not cavities — is the number you multiply when planning.
4
Order trays from the calibrated numbersGood pieces per pour × pours per day = pieces per tray per day. Divide your target by it, round up, add one spare tray, and only then place the bulk order.
A tray is a mould; a clamshell is a mould and a box
If the product is fragranced wax melts sold in packs, compare trays with Wax Melts Containers — heat-resistant plastic containers you pour straight into, at ₹29.50 each from a pack of 5 to a pack of 100 (₹2,950). A tray costs almost nothing per piece after a few pours but needs separate packing; a container is a per-piece cost that is also the packaging. Price both routes per finished pack before choosing.

Rigid pillar moulds for repeatable pillars

A silicone mould flexes to let a candle go. A rigid mould gives every pillar the same straight wall — and asks you to get the release right instead.

For a pillar line where every candle must match the one next to it in a gift box, CSI lists rigid moulds titled polycarbonate, plastic or acrylic. Their pages state candle or mould dimensions, which means you can estimate wax per pillar before the first pour. The estimate below calculates a cylinder from the stated size and applies about 0.9 g per cm³ for solid wax — a planning assumption, not a CSI figure; ribs and twists hold less than a plain cylinder, so treat those rows as an upper limit and weigh your first pillar.

Polycarbonate Twisted: π × 1² × 18 = 56.5 cm³ → ≤50.9 g → ≤₹28.09. *Acrylic Pillar Candle Mould rows read the variant names as height × diameter, which the page does not confirm. Polycarbonate Pillar Candle Mould
The most precisely described straight pillar mould in the range: 16.3 cm high × 4.1 cm diameter, stated as suitable for "paraffin, soy, beeswax, and blended waxes", with a four-step method on the page — secure the wick before pouring, pour at the ideal temperature, cool completely, then unmould. The same page describes the casing as heat-resistant glass while the title says polycarbonate; if material matters to your handling, confirm it on WhatsApp before ordering twenty. At our ≈194 g estimate, one pillar holds ₹106.91 of Soy Pillar Wax at 8%, and twenty moulds pour about 3.6 kg a day.

Tall ribbed taper · dinner and altar candles
Ribbed Polycarbonate Pillar Mould
A tall ribbed candle — the page states a 21.5 cm (8.46 in) candle height that "fits standard candle holders", made from durable plastic and suggested for soy, paraffin or beeswax. It is the mould for dinner-candle sets, where a buyer notices at once if one candle in a pair is shorter or softer-edged than the other. The page's own tip is to use a mould release spray or lightly coat the interior with oil; CSI does not list a release spray, so if you try oil, test it on one pillar first and check the surface finish before you do it on twenty. The diameter is not stated, so weigh the first pillar before costing a set.
Quantity Cost Candles per pour Pairs per pour
2 moulds ₹1,885.64 2 1
10 moulds ₹9,428.20 10 5
20 moulds ₹18,856.40 20 10
₹1,885.64 of moulds per matched pair a day Buy Ribbed Polycarbonate
The mistake: ordering twenty rigid moulds before one pillar has released. Rigid moulds do not peel away from a stuck candle the way silicone does. If your wax and pour temperature do not release cleanly, twenty moulds give you twenty stuck pillars on the same morning. Pour one mould with Soy Pillar Wax (₹300 for 500 g), log the temperature, and let it cool completely as the page instructs. The base-wax and additive choice for pillars — microcrystalline and Vybar at their stated rates — is set out in the pillar candle wax bulk guide.

Duplicates of bestsellers: how many, and when

The best bulk mould order a small business can place is usually not a wide one. It is more of the moulds that are already earning. A duplicate multiplies a shape whose wax weight, wick, cure, box and selling price you already know, so every extra mould adds output with no new decisions attached. A new design adds decisions before it adds output.

Duplicate decision rules
What the sales signal says to do with the mould count
What you see What it means Mould action
A test batch sold out and customers asked for more of the same shape Demand is ahead of your one-mould capacity Buy duplicates to your daily target: target ÷ (cavities × pours per day), rounded up
Orders arrive in multiples of one shape (6, 12, 24) Buyers are gifting or reselling in sets Size the count to one set per pour — a 12-piece order wants 12 single moulds or one tray pour
One shape sells, a similar one does not The shape is the product, not the category Duplicate the seller; stop buying variants of it
A shape sells only in one season Capacity is needed for weeks, not all year Buy for the season's daily target and store the moulds clean and flat afterwards
Your line depends on a shape that could go out of stock Reorder risk Hold one spare — when checked in September 2026, eight CSI mould listings and two size variants were sold out
A new design looks promising No sales evidence yet One mould only, until it passes the same test the bestsellers did

Duplicates also make the rest of the bench easier. Twenty identical pillar moulds need one wick length, one wick holder and one sealer routine. Bamboo wick holders, which one CSI customer says do not "exert any pressure on the wicks", are ₹118 for a set of 5, so twenty holders cost ₹472; Candle Mold Sealer is ₹472 for 80 pieces. Number every mould with a marker on the base and log pours against the number: CSI pages do not state a pour-life, so your own log is the only record that will tell you when a mould is due for replacement.

Keep the spare in rotation
A spare mould that lives in a cupboard is not tested when you need it. Rotate it into the daily pour so every mould in a set wears evenly and you find a faulty one on an ordinary Tuesday — not during the last week before Diwali.

Worked example: a Diwali run in moulds

It is mid-September. Diwali is on 8 November 2026. The mould order you place this week decides how many festive candles exist on 25 October.

Here is the arithmetic for a maker who wants 400 modak-shaped candles ready to sell from Sunday 25 October — two weeks before Diwali, leaving time to take orders, pack and dispatch. The 8-Cavity Modak Silicone Mold (₹580, 19 × 9.7 × 3 cm) is described on its page for festive candle collections, Diwali décor and return gifts. The same method works for any shape and any target.

1
Set the last pour date from the cureFor fragranced soy pieces, plan the 14–21 day cure that is standard practice for soy containers. Twenty-one days back from Sunday 25 October is Sunday 4 October, so on a six-day week the last pour is Saturday 3 October.
2
Count production daysMonday 14 September to Saturday 3 October, six days a week, is 18 pouring days. The week you spend ordering and testing is not one of them.
3
Turn the target into pieces per day400 ÷ 18 = 22.2 modaks a day. At one pour per mould per day and 8 cavities a mould, that is 22.2 ÷ 8 = 2.8, so 3 moulds (₹1,740), which can pour 24 a day and 432 over the run.
4
Add the spare and the rejectsA fourth mould (total ₹2,320) covers a torn cavity or a bad pour day, and the 32 pieces of headroom in 432 absorb rejects. If your calibration showed rejects above about 7% — more than 32 in 432 — add a fifth mould rather than hoping.
5
Weigh one pour, then order the wax onceWeigh a full 8-cavity pour, multiply by 400 ÷ 8 = 50 pours' worth, add a 3–5% planning allowance for spills and top-ups, and order the wax in as few packs as the total allows. Soy Pillar Wax is ₹600 a kilo from 500 g to 10 kg, so there is no listed price reason to split it.
6
Decide colour and scent before the first pour, not duringFestive modaks sell on colour. Fix the shade and the fragrance for the whole run so piece 400 matches piece 1 — the weighing method for repeatable colour is in buying candle colour in bulk, and scent planning for the season in best candle fragrance oils for Diwali collections.

Notice how small the mould line is: ₹2,320 of moulds for 400 festive candles, or ₹5.80 of mould per candle across this one run. A pillar-mould Diwali run is a very different calculation — 400 pillars in the same 18 days is 22.2 a day and therefore 23 moulds plus a spare, ₹22,627.68 at ₹942.82 each — which is exactly why festive capacity plans should be done in rupees before they are done in enthusiasm.

The CSI principle
Buy moulds to a number you can pour every day, not to a number you hope to sell once.
A mould count set by the daily target, the cure date and a timed demould fills orders. A mould count set by a festive feeling fills cupboards — and every idle mould is money that could have been wax, wicks and fragrance for the shapes that sell.

Two costed bulk mould orders

Below are two orders built from the arithmetic above: a small-piece bench that pours 370 pieces per pour, and a pillar bench that pours 20 pillars per pour. They are examples to adapt, not packages CSI sells — every line is a single listed product at its September 2026 price.

Eco Candle Wicks Loose 10 m ₹708 40 wicks at 25 cm each (₹17.70); stated for 2 inch diameters, so burn-test on these slimmer pillars
Order B total ₹32,980.40 Before fragrance and colour

The two orders show the real split in bulk mould buying. In Order A, the moulds are ₹3,773.64 and every rupee after that is consumables. In Order B, the moulds alone are ₹18,856.40 — more than the 20 kg of wax beside them — and they set a ceiling of 20 pillars per pour until you buy more. If you are planning either order at larger counts or every month, send the list on WhatsApp: quantity quotes and GST invoicing are handled there, and we will not guess at a quote on this page. Melting enough wax for Order B is its own decision; the Electric Wax Melter is listed in 10 kgs (₹21,240) and 20 kgs (₹25,960) capacities, and one CSI customer reports 10 kg melting "in mere 20-30 minutes" — a customer's experience, not a stated specification.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies moulds, wax and consumables — not finished candles. The profitable advice for us would be "buy one of everything". This guide tells you to buy fewer designs in larger counts, to calibrate one tray before ordering ten, and to hold off on duplicates until a shape has sold — because moulds bought ahead of demand never turn into wax orders.

Every price, cavity count and stated size here is from live CSI stock in September 2026, linked to the product page, where current pricing and specification take precedence. Where a page does not state something — cavity dimensions, a diameter, a set time or a pour-life — we say so. Pillar weights in this guide are estimates from stated dimensions at an assumed 0.9 g per cm³ and are labelled as such.

For quantity quotes, availability of a specific shape, GST invoicing, or MSDS and IFRA documentation for the waxes and fragrance oils that go into these moulds, message us on WhatsApp at +91 7397976926.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a discount for buying candle moulds in bulk?
CSI lists every mould as a single unit with no multi-pack or quantity price, so the listed cost of 20 moulds is 20 × the listed price — 20 Polycarbonate Pillar Candle Moulds are ₹18,856.40. For larger or repeat orders, send the mould names and counts on WhatsApp for a quote and GST invoice. We don't state what a quote will be; the listed price is what the online store charges.
How many candle moulds do I need for a small business?
Divide your daily target by cavities per mould × pours per day, round up and add one spare. At one pour a day, 60 small pieces need two 40 Cavity Square trays (₹944); 20 pillars need 20 pillar moulds (₹18,856.40 at ₹942.82 each). Time your own demoulds before planning two pours a day — no CSI mould page states a set time.
Which mould makes the most candles per pour?
By cavity count, the 55 Cavity Coffee Bean Mould (₹177) and Mini Heart Mould (₹153.40, 0.6 inch hearts) pour 55 pieces, and the 40 Cavity Square Moulds (₹472) pour 40. These are small pieces — melts, embeds and toppers, not full-size candles. For wicked candles, output is one candle per single mould per pour, so pillar output grows only with the number of moulds.
Are polycarbonate moulds better than silicone for bulk pillar production?
They suit different jobs. Rigid moulds give every pillar the same straight or ribbed wall, which matters for matched sets, but they do not flex to release a stuck candle. Silicone flexes and captures sculpted detail. CSI's Polycarbonate Pillar Candle Mould states 16.3 × 4.1 cm and the Ribbed Polycarbonate a 21.5 cm candle, both ₹942.82. Pour and release one before ordering twenty of either.
How much wax do I need for 20 pillar moulds a day?
It depends on the mould. The Polycarbonate Pillar Candle Mould (16.3 cm × 4.1 cm) holds about 215 cm³; at an assumed 0.9 g per cm³ a pillar weighs about 194 g, of which 178.2 g is wax at 8% fragrance. Twenty a day is about 3.6 kg of wax, ₹2,138.20 of Soy Pillar Wax at ₹600/kg. Weigh your first real pillar and recalculate.
When should I order moulds for Diwali 2026?
Now, if you have not. Diwali is on 8 November 2026. To have fragranced soy pieces cured for 21 days and ready to sell from 25 October, the last pour on a six-day week falls on Saturday 3 October — about 18 six-day-week pouring days from 14 September. Count moulds from that window: 400 pieces in an 8-cavity mould need 3 moulds plus a spare (₹2,320 for the Modak mould).
