Three coconut waxes, three different jobs

A wholesale buyer needs to separate these before comparing prices, because the three products are not substitutes. The table sets out what each page states, the packs you can add to cart, and the wax inside a 200 g container candle at 8% (184 g of wax and 16 g of oil) at the largest listed pack's price.

Only CSI 468 gives a production team numbers to work to. The Premium Coconut Soy Wax page describes a blend of non-GMO soy and virgin coconut oil and makes claims about throw and adhesion, but states no load, melt or pour figure; you would derive those yourself. What switching to CSI 468 actually costs per candle

The per-kilo gap between coconut-soy and soy looks large on an invoice. Inside a candle it shrinks, because the wax is 184 g of a 200 g candle at 8% and the price difference is spread across it gram by gram. The table compares CSI 468 against every soy container base you might be switching from, at each wax's largest listed pack price.

Now add the fragrance, because that is where headroom is paid for. CSI 468's stated ceiling is 13%; CSI 464's is 10%. Using British Rose Fragrance Oil at its 1 kg price (₹3,068, or ₹3.068 per gram), a 200 g candle on CSI 464 at 10% is 180 g of wax (₹91.33) plus 20 g of oil (₹61.36) — ₹152.69. The same candle on CSI 468 at 13% is 174 g of wax (₹110.84) plus 26 g of oil (₹79.77) — ₹190.61. Of that ₹37.92 difference, only ₹19.51 is wax; ₹18.41 is the extra oil. Higher load is bought mainly in fragrance, not in coconut.

Who should switch — and who shouldn't

Use the table as a first filter. Every "switch" still needs the side-by-side test in the process section, because a new wax is a new melt pool and your current wick was chosen for the old one.

Two cases deserve a closer look. For a maker on CSI 464 whose best-selling scent smells thin at 10%, the switch is not really about coconut at all — it is about moving to a wax that states a higher ceiling. Luxury Soy Chunks also state 13%, at ₹6.83 less per candle than CSI 468, so test both before deciding. For a maker on Luxury Soy Chunks, the headroom is identical; what you are testing is how the candle looks and how customers describe it, which is why the comparison should be blind — hand two unlabelled cured candles to five regular customers.

Some makers try to reach coconut-soy performance by stirring Coconut Wax into a cheaper soy. The table prices that at listed pack prices. The ratios are illustrative, for costing only — no CSI page recommends a blend ratio — and every blend is an unpublished recipe with no stated load or temperatures.

The conclusion depends on the base. On Luxury Soy Chunks, even a 10% home blend costs more per kilo than CSI 468 and gives up the stated numbers, so there is no cost case for blending. On CSI 464 or Eco Soy CSI 400, a home blend can be cheaper — but the supply side is lopsided: the base comes in 10 kg or 5 kg packs while Coconut Wax stops at 1 kg, and you would own the whole job of finding the load, temperatures and wick. For a business pouring hundreds of candles a month, that development time is usually worth more than the rupees.

Running CSI 468 at production scale

CSI 468's stated melting point is 50–53°C and its stated pour temperature 58–60°C. CSI 464's page, by comparison, states 80–90°C for both, and Luxury Soy Chunks pour at 70–80°C. A team used to pouring soy by feel is likely to pour CSI 468 too hot unless the numbers change on the card and at the jug. The CSI 468 page does not state a fragrance-add temperature, so that is one of the numbers your switch test has to establish and write down.

Equipment matters here. The Electric Wax Melter (10 kg, ₹21,240; 20 kg, ₹25,960) states a display range of 60–100°C and a ±10°C deviation; the Mini Electric Wax Melter (₹2,360) states approximately 70–85°C on its lower setting. Neither is a pouring thermometer. With a stated pour window only two degrees wide, read the wax at the jug with a ₹354 pen thermometer for every pour, not the melter display.

Buying coconut-soy wholesale

CSI 468 is one of the few container waxes whose listed price per kilo steps down with pack size — ₹650 at 500 g and 1 kg, ₹637 at 5 kg and 10 kg — so for this wax the 5 kg bag is the first real saving: five 1 kg bags list at ₹3,250 against ₹3,185 for one 5 kg bag. Nothing further changes at 10 kg. Above 10 kg nothing is listed, so larger orders are built from 10 kg packs at the listed ceiling.

Storage is easier to plan with this wax than most, because the page states a shelf life of 60 months in cool, dry storage. That does not make a 100 kg stockpile sensible — cash tied up in wax is cash not spent on jars and oil — but it does mean a 25 kg or 50 kg order sized to a festive season is not a shelf-life risk if it is kept sealed, off the floor and out of sun and heat.
