₹79.80–₹184.00
wax alone in one 200 g candle across CSI container soy grades · 1 kg pack pricing · CSI live pricing, September 2026
Quick answers — read this first
How much does soy wax cost per candle in India? At a 200 g fill, between ₹79.80 with Eco Soy CSI 400 and ₹184.00 with Premium Coconut Soy Wax. The three grades most Indian makers choose between sit within ₹40.00 of each other: ₹79.80, ₹101.48 for CSI 464 and ₹119.80 for Luxury Soy Wax Chunks.

How do I calculate the wax cost of a candle? Price per kilogram ÷ 1,000 × grams of wax in the jar. CSI 464 at ₹507.40 a kilo in a 150 g candle is ₹76.11. Then divide by your yield to allow for wastage, and add your freight per kilogram times the same fill weight.

Does buying soy wax in bulk reduce the cost per candle? On most grades, no. CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilo at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg alike. Only Natural Soy Pearl Wax (₹5.04 a candle from 5 kg) and CSI 468 (₹2.60 a candle from 5 kg) reward the bigger pack on shelf price. Buy big for freight and stock security instead.

How much wax is wasted per batch? A few per cent, and you should measure your own. At a 5% loss, a 200 g CSI 464 candle costs ₹106.82 of wax instead of ₹101.48; at 12% it is ₹115.32. Most of the loss is recoverable by remelting.
The short answer
The number: ₹79.80–₹184.00 of wax in a 200 g candle across CSI container soy grades, or ₹76.11 for a 150 g CSI 464 candle.
The correction: divide by your yield — a 5% loss makes that 200 g candle ₹106.82 — and add freight, which on an illustrative ₹80.00 a kilo is ₹16.00 a candle.
The perspective: wax is 36–52% of a finished candle's materials; the container moves the total more than the grade does.

Straight answer
How much does soy wax actually cost per candle?
Divide the per-kilogram price by 1,000 and multiply by the grams of wax in the jar. On live CSI pricing for September 2026 that gives ₹79.80 for a 200 g candle in Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹399.00 a kilo, ₹101.48 in Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40, ₹119.80 in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at ₹599.00, ₹130.00 in Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 and ₹184.00 in Premium Coconut Soy Wax — a spread of ₹104.20 across the container range, narrowing to ₹40.00 across the three grades most makers actually compare. At a 150 g fill every figure falls by a quarter; at 300 g it rises by half. Three corrections make those numbers real. Pack size barely matters on most grades — CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilo at 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg alike, and only Natural Soy Pearl Wax and CSI 468 get cheaper per kilo from 5 kg upward. Wastage does matter: at a 5% loss your 200 g CSI 464 candle costs ₹106.82, at 12% it costs ₹115.32. Freight matters most of all — on an illustrative ₹80.00 a kilogram, add ₹16.00 a candle, which on its own is more than the ₹18.32 between CSI 464 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks. And for perspective: across four common Indian formats the wax is only 36–52% of the materials in the finished candle.
One line: ₹79.80–₹184.00 of wax in a 200 g candle, depending on grade — then divide by your yield, add freight, and remember the wax is barely a third of the materials.
Working out a costing sheet? The cheapest named soy container grade on the CSI shelf is Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹399.00 a kilo — ₹79.80 of wax in a 200 g candle. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 is ₹507.40 a kilo (₹101.48) and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks is ₹599.00 (₹119.80). Every grade, every common fill size, is tabled below.

The formula, and the three different weights people confuse

The arithmetic takes ten seconds. The reason people get different answers is that they are weighing different things.

Wax cost per candle is price per kilogram, divided by 1,000, multiplied by the grams of wax in the candle. That is the whole calculation. Everything else that makes costing confusing comes from four things: which weight you used, which pack price you used, whether you counted wastage, and whether you counted freight.

Fill weight is the wax that ends up in the jar — the number your jar page quotes and the number your label should carry. Poured weight is fill weight plus the fragrance oil, because the oil is in the candle too: at 8% of wax weight, a 200 g fill is 216 g poured. Purchased weight is what you took off the shelf, which is always more than what ended up in jars. Cost the wax on fill weight, then add a wastage allowance; do not try to do both at once.

A worked example with Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 at ₹507.40 a kilo. A 200 g fill is ₹507.40 ÷ 1,000 × 200 = ₹101.48 of wax. Add 16 g of fragrance oil at 8% of wax weight and you have a 216 g candle. If your batch loses 5% of the wax you melt — in the pitcher, in top-ups, in the two jars you poured badly — the true wax cost per saleable candle is ₹106.82, not ₹101.48. And if the wax arrived on a courier bill you paid, add that too.

The four inputs
What changes the answer, by how much, and where to get the number
Input What it does Typical effect on a 200 g soy candle Where the number comes from
Grade and per-kg price Sets the base cost ₹79.80 to ₹184.00 across CSI container soy grades The live product page for the pack size you actually buy
Fill weight Scales everything linearly Every extra 10 g of CSI 464 is ₹5.07 Weigh a finished candle on a scale, do not trust the jar page alone
Pack size Changes the per-kg rate on some grades, not others ₹2.52 a candle between the 500 g and 1 kg CSI 464 packs; nothing between 1 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg The variant prices, divided out per kilogram
Wastage Raises cost per saleable candle ₹5.34 at 5% loss, ₹8.82 at 8% Measure it once over a real batch — the method is below
Inbound freight Raises your landed per-kg rate ₹16.00 a candle on an illustrative ₹80.00 a kilo Your own courier invoice divided by the kilograms it carried
WEIGH THE PACK, NOT THE RECIPE
Most makers pour more wax than their recipe says, because a jar filled by eye takes what it takes. Weigh one finished, cured candle, subtract the empty jar and the wick, and you have your real fill weight. If it is 212 g when you planned 200 g, your wax cost is ₹107.57 rather than ₹101.48 — a difference of ₹6.09 a candle that never appears in anyone's spreadsheet. A Candle Making Weighing Scale is ₹354.00; stock on it is low, so a kitchen scale that reads to 1 g will do the same job.

Wax cost per candle: every CSI soy grade at every common fill size

One table, nine waxes, five fill sizes. Find your row, find your column, stop guessing.

All figures are the wax alone — no jar, no wick, no fragrance oil — at 1 kg pack pricing, which is the fairest basis for comparing grades because every grade below is sold in a 1 kg pack. Paraffin is on the last row as a reference point, not as a recommendation.

Soy Butter Wax ₹1,097.40 ₹109.74 ₹164.61 ₹219.48 ₹274.35 ₹329.22
Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets ₹354.00 ₹35.40 ₹53.10 ₹70.80 ₹88.50 ₹106.20
Priced above, 1 kg packs: Eco Soy CSI 400 ₹399.00; Natural Soy Pearl Wax ₹450.00; Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 ₹507.40; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹599.00; Soy Pillar Wax ₹600.00; Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 ₹650.00; Premium Coconut Soy Wax ₹920.00; Soy Butter Wax ₹1,097.40; Fully Refined Paraffin Wax Pellets ₹354.00. Fill weight is the wax in the jar; fragrance oil is additional at the percentage of wax weight your recipe uses.

Three readings worth taking from that table. The container grades you would realistically use for a jar candle vary by ₹104.20 at a 200 g fill — ₹79.80 for Eco Soy CSI 400 against ₹184.00 for Premium Coconut Soy Wax. Narrow that to the three mainstream grades most Indian makers actually choose between, and the spread collapses to ₹40.00: ₹79.80, ₹101.48 and ₹119.80. And the difference between CSI 464 and Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, the two most commonly compared, is ₹18.32 on a 200 g candle.

Two rows are on the table for completeness rather than for jar candles. Soy Pillar Wax at ₹600.00 a kilo is sold for pillars, moulds and designer candles, and its page says so — it is built to shrink away from a mould and release, which is the opposite of what glass needs (container versus pillar candles covers the difference). Soy Butter Wax at ₹1,097.40 a kilo is a blend of soy pellets, soy chunks and beeswax made for whipped and dessert candles; at ₹219.48 in a 200 g candle it is the dearest soy on the shelf and belongs in a deliberately premium line.

A note on the two grades whose pages publish least. Natural Soy Pearl Wax does not publish working temperatures or a fragrance ceiling, and Premium Coconut Soy Wax publishes neither either. That does not make them bad waxes — Natural Soy Pearl is the only wax CSI sells up to a 50 kg pack — but it does mean you cannot build a recipe on published numbers. Ask on WhatsApp before you cost a production line around them.

The pack-size effect: where buying bigger actually changes the number

Every costing article assumes bulk is cheaper per kilo. On most CSI soy grades, it is not — and knowing that saves you cash you were about to tie up.

Here is the per-kilogram rate of every soy grade at every pack size it is sold in, with the difference it makes to a 200 g candle. The point of the table is not to find a discount; it is to find out whether one exists on the grade you use.

Per-kg by pack
What each pack size actually costs per kilogram
Grade 500 g 1 kg 5 kg 10 kg Effect on a 200 g candle
Eco Soy CSI 400 ₹399.00 ₹399.20 Flat — the 5 kg pack does not lower the rate
Natural Soy Pearl Wax ₹450.00 ₹424.80 ₹424.80 ₹5.04 cheaper from 5 kg upward — ₹504.00 across 100 candles
Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 ₹520.00 ₹507.40 ₹507.40 ₹507.40 ₹2.52 cheaper on 1 kg and above than on the 500 g pack; flat thereafter
Luxury Soy Wax Chunks ₹598.00 ₹599.00 ₹599.00 ₹599.90 Flat within a rupee a kilo across every pack
Soy Pillar Wax ₹600.00 ₹600.00 ₹600.00 ₹600.00 Flat at every pack size
Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 ₹650.00 ₹650.00 ₹637.00 ₹637.00 ₹2.60 cheaper from 5 kg upward — ₹260.00 across 100 candles
Premium Coconut Soy Wax ₹920.00 ₹920.00 Flat; sold in 500 g and 1 kg only
Soy Butter Wax ₹1,097.40 ₹1,097.40 Flat; 1 kg is the largest pack
Priced above: Eco Soy CSI 400 1 kg ₹399.00, 5 kg ₹1,996.00. Natural Soy Pearl Wax 1 kg ₹450.00, 5 kg ₹2,124.00, 10 kg ₹4,248.00, 50 kg ₹21,240.00 (₹424.80 a kilo). Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 500 g ₹260.00, 1 kg ₹507.40, 5 kg ₹2,537.00, 10 kg ₹5,074.00. Luxury Soy Wax Chunks 500 g ₹299.00, 1 kg ₹599.00, 5 kg ₹2,995.00, 10 kg ₹5,999.00. Soy Pillar Wax 500 g ₹300.00, 1 kg ₹600.00, 5 kg ₹3,000.00, 10 kg ₹6,000.00. Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 500 g ₹325.00, 1 kg ₹650.00, 5 kg ₹3,185.00, 10 kg ₹6,370.00. Premium Coconut Soy Wax 500 g ₹460.00, 1 kg ₹920.00. Soy Butter Wax 500 g ₹548.70, 1 kg ₹1,097.40.

The honest summary, and it is not the one a wax seller would choose: on six of the eight soy grades CSI stocks, the per-kilogram rate is flat or within a rupee across pack sizes. Buying 10 kg of CSI 464 instead of ten separate kilos does not reduce the wax in your candle by a single paisa. Only two grades reward the larger pack on the shelf price — Natural Soy Pearl Wax from 5 kg upward, worth ₹5.04 a candle, and Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 from 5 kg upward, worth ₹2.60.

Which does not mean you should buy small. There are three genuinely good reasons to buy the bigger pack, and none of them is the per-kilogram rate. You pay one freight bill instead of five, which on the illustrative numbers in the next section is worth far more than any rate break. You get lot consistency across a production run instead of mixing deliveries mid-batch. And you stop running out mid-pour, which is the most expensive thing that can happen on a festive deadline. If you need a genuine bulk rate beyond the listed packs, that is a WhatsApp conversation, not a shelf price.

Buying 10 kg for a discount that does not exist. On CSI 464 the 10 kg pack is ₹5,074.00 and ten 1 kg packs are the same ₹507.40 a kilo. If you are pouring 30 candles a month at a 200 g fill you will use 6 kg a month, and a 10 kg box bought for an imaginary saving is roughly ₹2,029.60 of cash standing in a store room through a monsoon. The page asks for cool, dry storage away from sunlight and moisture, and states a 60-month shelf life on that basis — in a damp Mumbai or Kochi godown, that is a condition, not a promise.
Buying for a run? Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 5 kg ₹2,537.00 and 10 kg ₹5,074.00 at ₹507.40 a kilo · Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 5 kg ₹3,185.00 at ₹637.00 a kilo · Natural Soy Pearl Wax 5 kg ₹2,124.00 at ₹424.80 a kilo. For consignments beyond the listed packs, ask for bulk pricing and a GST invoice on WhatsApp.

Wastage: the gap between the wax you buy and the wax in the jar

Nobody pours 100% of what they melt. Most makers have never measured how much they lose, which is why their costing is quietly wrong.

Wax disappears in five predictable places: the film that stays in the melter and the pouring pitcher, the top-up pour that fixes a sunken top, spillage on the bench, the jars you poured as tests and never sold, and the candles you wrote off. A careful maker working in small batches typically loses a few per cent; a busy one pouring under a festive deadline loses more. The effect on cost per saleable candle is straightforward: divide by the proportion that survives.

Wastage
What different loss rates do to the wax cost of a 200 g CSI 464 candle
Loss rate Wax cost per saleable candle Extra per candle Extra across 500 candles
0% (spreadsheet fantasy) ₹101.48
5% ₹106.82 ₹5.34 ₹2,670.53
8% ₹110.30 ₹8.82 ₹4,412.17
12% ₹115.32 ₹13.84 ₹6,919.09

Notice that the jump from 5% to 12% loss costs ₹8.50 a candle, or ₹4,248.56 across 500 candles — roughly half the ₹18.32 that separates CSI 464 from Luxury Soy Wax Chunks at that fill. The difference is that tightening your pouring costs nothing, while changing grade costs you a fortnight of re-testing.

1
Weigh the wax before you melt it Start a batch from a full, unopened pack so you know the input exactly, or weigh what you tip into the melter. Write it down. A Mini Electric Wax Melter at ₹2,360.00 makes this easier because you can melt a measured amount rather than topping up by eye, but a scale and a saucepan work just as well.
2
Pour the batch normally — do not be careful for the test The number you want is your real loss rate, not your best one. Pour the way you always pour, including the top-ups. Use a Steel Pouring Pitcher at ₹708.00 if that is what you normally use, and note how much wax you scrape back out of it at the end.
3
Weigh every finished candle and subtract the empties Once the candles have set, weigh each one and subtract the weight of an empty jar and wick. That gives you total fill weight across the batch. Then subtract your fragrance oil, because it is in there too: at 8% of wax weight, a candle weighing 216 g contains 200 g of wax.
4
Divide, then rebuild your costing sheet Total wax in jars, divided by total wax melted, is your yield. One minus that is your loss. Put the real number in your sheet: at a 5% loss a 200 g CSI 464 candle costs ₹106.82 of wax, not ₹101.48. Re-measure after any change to your melting or pouring method, and use the live guide to smooth, crack-free pours to cut the top-ups that cause most of the loss.

Most of what you lose is recoverable. Wax scraped from the pitcher, failed candles and test pours can generally be remelted into the next batch, which is why the practical loss rate for a tidy workshop is lower than the raw yield figure suggests — the live guide on re-melting a failed candle sets out when that is sensible and when it is not. A Hot Air Gun at ₹531.00 fixes sunken tops without a top-up pour at all, and stock on it is low, so treat it as a nice-to-have rather than a plan.

Freight, GST and your landed cost per kilogram

The price on the product page is not what the wax costs you. It is what the wax costs before it moves.

Wax is heavy and courier charges scale with weight, so the delivered cost per kilogram is meaningfully higher than the shelf price — for everyone in this trade, from every supplier. CSI does not publish delivery charges and we are not going to invent one, so the figures here are clearly illustrative: assume a consignment costs ₹800.00 to deliver. Spread across 10 kg that is ₹80.00 a kilogram, which adds ₹16.00 to a 200 g candle and takes the landed rate on CSI 464 from ₹507.40 to ₹587.40 a kilogram, or ₹117.48 a candle.

Spread the same ₹800.00 across a single kilogram and it is ₹800.00 a kilogram — ₹160.00 on one 200 g candle, more than the wax itself. That is the real economics of pack size, and it is why the flat per-kilogram rates in the previous section still favour bigger consignments: you are not buying a rate break, you are buying fewer freight bills. Two of the reviews CSI publishes make the same point from the customer's side, one saying the delivery charges are high enough to restrict how much she buys and another asking for a discount on bulk purchases. Those are fair comments about a genuine cost, and consolidation is the answer available to both sides.

Landed cost
The same illustrative freight bill spread over different consignment sizes
Consignment Illustrative freight Freight per kg Added to a 200 g candle Landed CSI 464 per kg
1 kg ₹800.00 ₹800.00 ₹160.00 ₹1,307.40
5 kg ₹800.00 ₹160.00 ₹32.00 ₹667.40
10 kg ₹800.00 ₹80.00 ₹16.00 ₹587.40
25 kg (wax, jars and oils together) ₹800.00 ₹32.00 ₹6.40 ₹539.40
Illustrative assumption: a flat ₹800.00 delivery charge per consignment, used only to show how freight per kilogram falls as a consignment grows. It is not a CSI figure and CSI publishes no delivery charges; substitute your own courier invoice. Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 shelf price ₹507.40 per kg. Prices on CSI pages are stated as inclusive of taxes, and GST invoicing is available on request.

Two practical consequences. First, if you are ordering wax anyway, add the jars, wicks and fragrance oil to the same consignment rather than spreading three orders across a month — the freight per candle falls with every kilogram you add to the box. Second, a per-kilogram comparison between suppliers that ignores delivery is meaningless; compare landed rates. The live guide on wholesale raw materials across India covers the sourcing side of that.

The CSI principle
Wax is the cheapest thing you will argue about for hours.
At a 200 g fill, the three mainstream CSI container soy grades sit within ₹40.00 of each other — less than the ₹64.90 between two jars you could reasonably choose for the same candle.

Where the wax actually sits in the cost of the whole candle

You came for the wax number. Here is the number that matters more: what share of the candle it is.

Four realistic Indian formats, costed on materials only — container, wax, fragrance oil and wick. Jars are priced at their multi-pack unit rate, fragrance at 1 kg pricing, wicks at 100-pack pricing. The last column is the one to look at.

Share of materials
What the wax is as a proportion of the materials in four common formats
Format Container Wax Fragrance oil Wick Materials Wax share
70 g votive · White Matte Votive Jar ₹31.86 CSI 464 ₹35.52 British Rose ₹17.18 ₹5.90 ₹90.46 39%
150 g gift · Clear Glass Jar, golden lid ₹94.40 CSI 464 ₹76.11 British Rose ₹36.82 ₹5.90 ₹213.23 36%
180 g volume · 200 ml lug-cap jar ₹29.50 CSI 464 ₹91.33 British Rose ₹44.18 ₹9.44 ₹174.45 52%
150 g premium · Clear Glass Jar, golden lid ₹94.40 CSI 468 ₹97.50 Cinnamon Vanilla ₹54.66 ₹5.90 ₹252.46 39%
Priced above: White Matte Votive Jar 70 gram Pack of 10 ₹318.60 (₹31.86 each). Clear Glass Jar with Golden Lid Pack of 10 ₹944.00 (₹94.40 each). 200ml Salsa Glass Jar 50 Pcs ₹1,475.00 (₹29.50 each). Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 1 kg ₹507.40; Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 1 kg ₹650.00. British Rose Fragrance Oil 1 kg ₹3,068.00; Cinnamon Vanilla Fragrance Oil 1 kg ₹4,554.80. Eco Candle Wicks Thin (C1) ₹5.90 each and Thick (C2) ₹9.44 each at 100. Fragrance at 8% of wax weight throughout. Stickers, care labels, outer packaging and courier are excluded.

The wax is between 36% and 52% of the materials in those four candles, and the thing that moves it most is the container, not the grade. Put the same 180 g of CSI 464 into a ₹94.40 jar instead of a ₹29.50 one and the wax share falls even though the wax cost has not changed by a paisa. Swap British Rose for Cinnamon Vanilla at the same 12 g dose and the fragrance line moves ₹17.84 — roughly as much as the entire gap between the cheapest and the dearest mainstream soy at that fill.

This is why the answer to “how much does soy wax cost per candle” should always be followed by a second question: as a share of what? If you are pricing a candle, the number you need is materials plus packaging plus fulfilment, and the live guides on pricing candles in India for 2026 and pricing for profit with a calculator take that all the way through. If you are deciding between waxes, the honest scale of that decision is ₹40.00 on a 200 g candle.

A wax price is what you pay. A wax cost is what ends up in the jar.

When a cheaper wax makes a more expensive candle

Downgrading a grade to save rupees per candle is a real strategy. It is also the easiest way to lose more than you saved.

Moving a 200 g line from Luxury Soy Wax Chunks to Eco Soy CSI 400 saves ₹40.00 a candle, ₹20,000.00 across 500 candles. That is worth having if — and only if — the cheaper grade makes a candle your customers cannot tell apart. Three things routinely eat the saving.

Re-wicking. A different soy melts and pools differently at the same wick. The first sign of a mismatched wick is tunnelling or soot, not a lower invoice, and the fix is a three-jar wick ladder per fill size — the live wick guide by diameter explains how to run one, and CSI does not publish a wick size per jar diameter, so this is a test rather than a lookup. Budget for it before the change goes live, not after.

Scrap. On the 150 g gift format above, materials are ₹213.23 a candle. A 4% scrap rate on that format costs ₹8.53 a candle and an 8% rate costs ₹17.06 — the second of those almost exactly cancelling the ₹18.32 you save by moving from Chunks to CSI 464 at a 200 g fill. A grade change that quietly raises your scrap rate is a loss dressed as a saving.

Recipe uncertainty. Eco Soy CSI 400 does not publish a maximum fragrance load. If your recipe sits at 10% or higher, moving onto a grade whose ceiling is not published means you are formulating without a number — ask on WhatsApp first. By contrast CSI 464 publishes up to 10% and both Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and CSI 468 publish up to 13%, so if you are running a heavy load, the cheaper grade may not be a like-for-like swap at all.

Costing the wax and forgetting the fragrance. Makers agonise over ₹18.32 of wax difference and then change fragrance oil without recosting. The same 12 g dose at 1 kg pricing is ₹36.82 with British Rose and ₹54.66 with Cinnamon Vanilla — a swing of ₹17.84, several times the wax decision. Both pages publish what you need to check: British Rose lists a flashpoint of 192°C and 0% vanillin, and where a wax ceiling and an oil page's usage range differ, the lower figure governs. The live guide on how much fragrance oil a candle business needs is the place to plan that side of the sheet.
Comparing a per-kilogram price to a per-candle price. A supplier quoting a low per-kilogram rate on a wax you have not tested is not offering you a cheaper candle. Convert everything to the same unit before you compare: rupees per kilogram, divided by 1,000, times your measured fill weight, divided by your measured yield, plus your freight per kilogram times the same fill weight. On the illustrative freight in the previous section, that turns ₹507.40 a kilogram into ₹117.48 a candle at a 200 g fill before wastage — a number you can actually compare.

The comparison guides worth reading next are the live pieces on the best candle wax for scented candles in India, buying soy wax by the kilo in India, how much wax one candle actually needs and soy against paraffin — between them they cover the choice itself, which this page deliberately does not make for you.

Why trust this guide

CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA sells wax, so the useful thing to say here is the thing that does not sell more of it: on six of the eight soy grades on this page the per-kilogram rate is flat across every pack size, so buying 10 kg instead of 1 kg saves you nothing per candle. The reasons to buy the bigger pack are freight, lot consistency and not running out — not a discount. This page also states that the wax is only 36–52% of a finished candle's materials, that the container moves your cost more than the grade does, and that at a 200 g fill the three mainstream container soys sit within ₹40.00 of each other.

Every price is a live CSI variant price for September 2026 and the linked product pages are authoritative. Specifications are quoted from those pages: Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 up to 10% fragrance load with 80–90°C given as the working range for melting and pouring and a 60-month shelf life in cool, dry storage; Luxury Soy Wax Chunks and Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 up to 13%, with CSI 468 stating a melting point of 50–53°C and a pour temperature of 58–60°C; British Rose Fragrance Oil flashpoint 192°C and 0% vanillin. Eco Soy CSI 400 does not publish a fragrance ceiling, and Natural Soy Pearl Wax and Premium Coconut Soy Wax do not publish working temperatures or ceilings — we say so rather than estimate. Freight figures, loss rates and scrap rates on this page are illustrative assumptions, clearly labelled; CSI publishes no delivery charges.

Frequently asked questions

How much soy wax is in a 200 g candle and what does it cost?
200 g of wax, plus fragrance oil on top — at 8% of wax weight that is 16 g of oil and a 216 g poured candle. The wax alone costs ₹101.48 in Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464, ₹79.80 in Eco Soy CSI 400 and ₹119.80 in Luxury Soy Wax Chunks, at 1 kg pack pricing.
How many candles does 1 kg of soy wax make?
Ten at a 100 g fill, six at 150 g, five at 200 g, three at 300 g — before wastage. The Luxury Soy Wax Chunks page states 1 kg ≈ 6–12 candles, 500 g ≈ 3–6, 5 kg ≈ 30–60 and 10 kg ≈ 60–120, depending on candle size. Allow a few per cent for wax left in the pitcher and top-up pours.
Which is the cheapest soy wax per candle in India?
Of the named CSI grades, Eco Soy CSI 400 at ₹399.00 a kilo — ₹79.80 in a 200 g candle and ₹59.85 at 150 g. Its page does not publish a maximum fragrance load, so if your recipe runs near a ceiling, confirm on WhatsApp before you move a line onto it.
Is coconut soy wax much more expensive per candle than soy?
Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 is ₹130.00 in a 200 g candle at 1 kg pricing, or ₹127.40 at 5 kg pricing, against ₹101.48 for CSI 464 — a difference of about ₹28.52. Premium Coconut Soy Wax is dearer again at ₹184.00. Whether that is expensive depends on your selling price, not on the wax.
Should I include wastage in my candle costing?
Yes, and measure it rather than guessing. At a 5% loss the wax in a 200 g CSI 464 candle costs ₹106.82 instead of ₹101.48; at 12% it is ₹115.32, and the difference between those two loss rates (₹8.50) is larger than the gap between two different soy grades at that fill.
Does the price on the product page include delivery?
No. CSI states that its prices are inclusive of taxes and GST invoicing is available, but delivery is separate and CSI publishes no delivery charges, so your landed cost per kilogram is the shelf price plus whatever your consignment costs to move. On an illustrative ₹800.00 consignment charge, 10 kg carries ₹80.00 a kilogram and adds ₹16.00 to a 200 g candle; the same charge on 1 kg would add ₹160.00. Consolidate wax, jars, wicks and oils into one consignment.
