Raw Materials Required to Make 1,000 Candles
Aktie
What does it cost? Budget build (Eco Soy CSI 400, four scents at 4 kg each plus small top-ups, Eco C2 wicks, clear Salsa jars): ₹1,77,203.60. Premium build (CSI 468 at 10%, premium oils, wooden wicks, matte jars): ₹3,70,344.52.
Is a candle cheaper at 1,000 than at 100? Barely, at listed prices: the same budget recipe is ₹168.43 a candle against ₹169.10 at 100. The real change is that only 5% of the cash ends up as leftover stock, against 14% at 100 — and that an order this size is worth quoting on WhatsApp.
What equipment does 1,000 candles need? A production melter: 10 loads on a 20 kg Electric Wax Melter or 19 on the 10 kg version. A 1-litre mini melter is a test-batch tool at this scale. Plan roughly 4.9 m² of cure shelf for 1,000 jars 7 cm wide.
The 100-candle list × 10 — and what the multiplication hides
This guide keeps the candle from the 100-candle budget build unchanged — 200g at 8%, Eco Soy CSI 400, Eco C2 wick, clear 200ml Salsa jar, four scents — so any change in cost per candle comes from pack sizes, not a cheaper recipe.
| Line | 100 candles | 500 candles | 1,000 candles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wax (Eco Soy CSI 400) | 4 × 5 kg | 20 × 5 kg | 39 × 5 kg (195 kg) |
| Fragrance oil | 4 × 500 gm | 9 × 1 kg + 1 × 500 gm (five scents) | 16 × 1 kg + 4 × 100 gm + 4 × 50 gm |
| Wicks (Eco C2) | 100 + 20 | 500 + 50 | 1,000 + 50 |
| Jars (clear 200ml Salsa) | 100 + 5 | 5 × 100 + 50 | 10 × 100 + 50 |
| Wick stickers (sheets of 40) | 3 | 14 | 27 |
| Care label rolls (500, 1 inch) | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| Cash | ₹19,653.40 | ₹91,850 | ₹1,77,203.60 |
| Materials per candle | ₹169.10 | ₹169.57 (five-scent mix) | ₹168.43 |
| Stock left after the run | ₹2,743.12 (14.0% of cash) | ₹7,065.80 (7.7%) | ₹8,772.80 (5.0%) |
Read the last two rows together. The candle barely gets cheaper: ₹169.10 at 100, ₹168.43 at 1,000, and the whole 67-paise difference is fragrance bought in kilos instead of 500g bottles. Soy wax, Eco wicks, Salsa jars in 50s and 100s, wick stickers and care labels all cost the same per unit at every volume on this page. What does improve is the fit. At 100 candles, 14% of your cash sat on the shelf afterwards because packs were bigger than the run; at 1,000 it is 5%. Spares become a small percentage, and every roll and pack gets used. The 500-candle column uses a five-scent range, which is why its per-candle figure sits slightly higher — the method is in raw materials for 500 candles.
Budget build for 1,000 candles: ₹1,77,203.60
Four scents of 250 candles, 8% load, 200g fill. Every line is a listed, in-stock pack. The "left" column assumes the planning allowances go unused; if you lose the full 4% of wax, the wax left is 3.64 kg, not 11 kg.
| Line | Product · candles | Packs | Cash | Inside each candle | Left after 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wax | Eco Soy CSI 400 | 39 × 5 kg | ₹77,844 | 184 g = ₹73.45 | 11 kg (₹4,391.20) |
| Oil | British Rose · 250 | 4 × 1 kg + 100 gm + 50 gm | ₹12,826.60 | 16 g = ₹49.09 | 150g per scent incl. unused allowance (₹2,234.60) |
| Oil | Citrus Lemon · 250 | 4 × 1 kg + 100 gm + 50 gm | ₹11,798 | ₹45.31 | |
| Oil | Roasted Coffee · 250 | 4 × 1 kg + 100 gm + 50 gm | ₹15,572 | ₹59.81 | |
| Oil | Fresh Strawberries · 250 | 4 × 1kg + 100gm + 50gm | ₹14,750 | ₹56.64 | |
| Wicks | Eco Candle Wicks · Thick (C2) | 1 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 | ₹9,912 | ₹9.44 | 50 (₹472) |
| Wick stickers | Candle Wick Stickers | 27 × sheet of 40 | ₹2,700 | ₹2.50 | 80 (₹200) |
| Jars | 200ml Salsa Glass Jar (clear) | 10 × 100 Pcs + 1 × 50 Pcs | ₹30,975 | ₹29.50 | 50 (₹1,475) |
| Care labels | Candle Care Stickers Roll | 2 × 500 (1 inch) | ₹826 | ₹0.83 | None |
| Total | ₹1,77,203.60 | ₹168.43 | ₹8,772.80 |
Two small decisions hide in this table. The care labels are two 1-inch rolls of 500 at ₹826; the listed alternative is one roll of 1,000 at ₹699, but those labels are 1.5 inch — a different label, not a bulk version of the same one. ₹127 is not a reason to change your base design mid-range. And the wax is 39 five-kilo bags because 5 kg is Eco Soy CSI 400's largest listed pack. If thirty-nine bags is a storage problem, the pack-count question is the same one faced at 500, only doubled — Luxury Soy Wax CSI 464 does it in 20 bags of 10 kg for ₹1,01,480, and Natural Soy Pearl Wax in four 50 kg packs for ₹84,960. Both mean re-testing if your recipe was proven on Eco Soy.
Fragrance at 1,000: kilos plus top-ups
CSI's largest listed fragrance pack is 1 kg; 5 kg and 10 kg packs are not listed. So every scent in a 1,000-candle run arrives as several kilo bottles, and the only real decision is how to cover the planning allowance on top. Each scent's 250 candles need 4,000g of oil, or 4,120g with 3%. The lazy answer is a 500g bottle on top of four kilos. The better answer is the smallest bottles that cover 120g.
| Scent (250 candles) | 4 × 1 kg | + 500 gm (4,500g) | + 100 gm + 50 gm (4,150g) | Saving | Top-up per gram vs 500g per gram |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| British Rose | ₹12,272 | ₹13,865 | ₹12,826.60 | ₹1,038.40 | ₹3.70 vs ₹3.19 |
| Citrus Lemon | ₹11,328 | ₹12,748 | ₹11,798 | ₹950 | ₹3.13 vs ₹2.84 |
| Roasted Coffee | ₹14,952 | ₹16,842 | ₹15,572 | ₹1,270 | ₹4.13 vs ₹3.78 |
| Fresh Strawberries | ₹14,160 | ₹15,930 | ₹14,750 | ₹1,180 | ₹3.93 vs ₹3.54 |
| Four scents | ₹52,712 | ₹59,385 | ₹54,946.60 | ₹4,438.40 | Dearer per gram, far fewer grams |
The top-up bottles cost more per gram than a 500g bottle — but you buy 150g instead of 500g, so the cash is ₹4,438.40 lower and you finish with 30g spare per scent beyond the allowance rather than 380g. The trade-off is margin. If your first 100-candle run showed losses above 3%, the 500g top-up is the safer buy. If it showed less, the 100g and 50g bottles are enough — and in the staged plan further down, the wave-two top-ups can be dropped altogether once wave one has told you your real loss.
Premium build for 1,000 candles: ₹3,70,344.52
The premium candle from the 100-candle guide, ten times over: CSI 468 at a 10% load (180g wax, 20g oil), four premium oils of 250 candles each, a Performance Wooden Wick and a matte glass jar. At 10% each scent needs 5,150g with allowance — five kilos plus a 100g and a 50g bottle covers it exactly.
| Line | Product | Packs | Cash | Inside each candle | Left after 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wax | Premium Coconut Soy CSI 468 | 19 × 10 kg (need 187.2 kg) | ₹1,21,030 | ₹114.66 | 10 kg (₹6,370) |
| Oils | Dark Vanilla Oud ₹29,365 · Woody Oud ₹23,380.52 · Bergamot Amber ₹28,025 · Santal Noir ₹47,018 | Each 5 × 1 kg + 100g + 50g | ₹1,27,788.52 | ₹123.90 (average) | 150g per scent incl. unused allowance (₹3,892.52) |
| Wicks | Performance Wooden Wicks | 10 × 100 + 1 × 50 | ₹43,660 | ₹41.30 | 50 (₹2,360) |
| Wick stickers | Candle Wick Stickers | 27 × sheet of 40 | ₹2,700 | ₹2.50 | 80 (₹200) |
| Jars | Black Matte Glass Jar (or another matte colour) | 105 × pack of 10 | ₹74,340 | ₹70.80 | 50 (₹3,540) |
| Care labels | Candle Care Stickers Roll | 2 × 500 (1 inch) | ₹826 | ₹0.83 | None |
| Total | ₹3,70,344.52 | ₹353.98 | ₹16,362.52 |
Per candle, ₹353.98 against ₹354.36 at 100 — a 38-paise difference, all of it oil bought in kilos. Two lines on this list hit the top of what CSI lists: 1,050 matte jars is 105 packs of ten, and 1,050 wooden wicks is ten 100-packs and a 50. Those are the listed ceilings, and at ₹74,340 and ₹43,660 they are the lines where a consolidated WhatsApp quote matters most. We don't state what that quote would be.
What 1,000 candles asks of your equipment
A 100-candle run can be poured from a mini melter and a jug over a few evenings. A thousand cannot: 184 kg of wax has to be melted, dosed, poured and cured somewhere. Equipment isn't raw material, and CSI lists no automated filling or wicking machines, but equipment decides how many days the run takes.
| Tool | Price | What the page states | At 1,000 × 200g candles |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electric Wax Melter (Imported), 20 kg | ₹25,960 | Around 20 kg for the bigger melter; display 60–100°C | 10 loads for 184 kg; ≈108 candles' wax per full load |
| Electric Wax Melter (Imported), 10 kg | ₹21,240 | 10 kg of soy wax in approximately 30 minutes at 100°C | 19 loads; ≈54 candles' wax per full load |
| Mini Electric Wax/Soap Melter | ₹2,360 | 1 litre capacity; 300W and 600W modes; 1-year warranty | Test pours and top-ups — not the production melter at this volume |
| Wax Pouring Funnel (4 nozzles) | ₹1,888 | Food-grade stainless steel; capacity not stated | Four nozzles per pass instead of one jug |
| Steel Pouring Pitcher, large | ₹708 | 600 ml capacity | Fragrance dosing and small top-up pours |
| Candle Making Weighing Scale | ₹354 | Grams or ounces; capacity not stated | Oil per load and fill checks; confirm capacity before weighing a whole load |
| Wick Setting Tool · Wick Centering Device (5) | ₹399 · ₹118 | "Compatible with most jar sizes" · pack of 5 | 1,000 wicks stuck and centred before any wax is melted |
| Cure shelving (not a CSI product) | — | Matte jars state 7 cm width | ≈4.9 m² of shelf surface for 1,000 jars side by side, held 14–21 days |
The melter row shapes the schedule. At ≈108 candles of wax per full 20 kg load, a thousand candles is ten fills, each taking about 1.74 kg of oil at 8% (20 kg ÷ 0.92 × 0.08). One CSI customer who uses the imported melter wrote that "10 kgs of wax melts in mere 20-30 minutes" — a customer's experience, not a specification. Ten loads is ten pouring sessions before any cure time: schedule them, don't improvise them. The full load-by-load wax maths is in how much wax do I need to make 1,000 candles.
Two orders instead of one
A single 1,000-candle order is the simplest to place and the hardest to live with: ₹1,77,203.60 out on day one, 39 bags and 1,050 jars to store, and four scents committed before any customer has smelled them. Staging splits the same list by scent pair, so each order is a complete set of candles. The total doesn't change; the timing and the risk do.
| One order | Two orders | |
|---|---|---|
| Cash on day one | ₹1,77,203.60 | ₹1,08,957.60 |
| Cash later | — | ₹68,246 after wave one |
| Wax bags stored at once | 39 | 20, then 19 |
| Scents committed before any candle is poured | 4 | 2 |
| Top-ups for wave two | Bought blind | Bought or skipped on measured loss |
| Risk | Stock sitting idle | A gap if order 2 is placed late, or a wax change between deliveries |

A thousand candles for a festival has a calendar problem on top of the materials problem: with Diwali on 8 November 2026 and soy containers commonly cured 14–21 days, two waves of 500 plus cure leave very little slack from mid-September. That specific timeline is worked backwards in manufacturing 1,000 candles for Diwali. If 1,000 is a monthly figure rather than a one-off, see growing from 100 to 1,000 candles a month.
CANDLEMAKINGSUPPLIESINDIA supplies raw materials, not finished candles. On a 1,000-candle order the supplier's interest is an obvious one: sell the whole list on day one. We have shown you how to split it, how to top up oil in 150g instead of 500g, and that the candle itself costs only 67 paise less at 1,000 than at 100 — because a maker who runs a thousand candles without a cash crunch or a stuck scent is the maker who orders the next thousand.
Every price, pack size and specification comes from live CSI stock in September 2026 and links to the product page, where current pricing always takes precedence. Equipment details are quoted only as the product pages state them; where a page states no capacity, we say so. Loads are the stated ceilings for each wax. Allowances, spare counts, the scent split, the staging plan and the cure-shelf area are our planning choices and calculations, not measured facts, and we do not publish delivery times or quoted prices.
